Oh my... The story starts off being interesting. The author writes in 3rd person and switches the perspective of the two lead characters from one paragraph to another, sometimes from sentence to sentence, which is annoying.
Through the book it is pointed out that the female lead is a committed vegan. She is bickering about it, but the first moment it gets complicated, she eats non vegan food. Fine, I can ignore this two or three times. However, when Declan cooks dinner, she fusses about being vegan and then takes his steak. Not the buttered vegetables; no the steak.
I can understand if the author doesn't like vegan people. However, she could have shown this in another way. If she wanted to show that Lydia is spoiled, there would have been other ways. Lydia doesn't comment, not having her lotions or hair products or whatever. She is only bickering about the (non) vegan food. It is talked more about in the book than that she is separated from her son. Strange emphasis on that topic. I stopped reading at Chapter 8.
