My heart is laying bloody and bared for all to see! What have I just read and why am I feeling left so adrift!?

Caution: You're about to enter a dark world where underhanded things are afoot as nightmarish creatures ramble about. This is unlike anything I've ever read before and I wanted to want to set it aside, but I was quickly captivated with a strong desire to watch this stunning drama play out.  The action and intrigue left me breathless while the steamier scenes raised my eyebrows and set a new standard for other authors to achieve.

These characters are rough and raw and yet our heroes of this tale don't posess a shred of selfishness within them now. They're possessive yes, frighteningly dangerous and strong-willed, but beneath those shadows lay a moral code that Gavin, Rosalie and Oliver all share. The past seasons so much of the present.

There is a tragedy that fate has created as its set the stage... And I can't help but be fully drawn in. Each character wants to be the victor, the master to their own destiny, but that isn't going to come easily for them. While there are clear villains in this tale, the heros are just as villainous as they've had to thrive in such vile environments. This is what makes this so utterly addictive and delicious! The desire to see how they'll win this deadly plot and discovering how their lives will forever change.

You want to connect to the characters you're reading about, but for me, this was an impossible task! This world is just so spectacular and anything but natural, that I just couldn't come away from it ever wanting to visit.  I wouldn't want to exist beside them.  And this is why books are so very important! They carry us away to improbable worlds and introduce us to fantastical characters. They change our minds and shape us in ways we've never dared to dream as they entertain and delight. This dark tale will stick with you, begging you to let it linger and simmer within your imagination.

Bravo to these creatively brilliant co-authors who have brought this world to life and breathed breath into words that are hauntingly obsessive.  I never knew that I could love a tale so darkly sinister or that I'd come to adore these characters as much as I do. I can't wait to see how Gavin will navigate these new events. This has left me anxious and slightly panicky and I'm not sure what I'll do with myself now... go one-click so that we can freak out together! You're going to love losing yourself.

Listen, my only problem with this book is that I need more!

This was such a stunning read! From the moment I opened the book; I was immediately pulled into this dance between light and dark, good and evil. The story opens up with a legend that, truthfully, depicts the darkness in such a beautiful and compelling way; that I was almost rooting for him to win. Almost. Because, you know... I love me a good villain.

But then Gavin Sinclair walked into my life in all of his sinfully wicked, ripper glory.

What I love about the characters in this story, but especially Gavin; is how morally grey they are. There were definitely some defining moments with characters - that I did not believe to be trustworthy - coming through when it mattered. But also, having those "familiar" characters behind the betrayal made for stronger emotions.

This is probably the first book in a while that truly kept me anticipating the "next move".
I'm definitely looking forward to the second book; because listen that ending... So disrespectful!

But also - let it be known that Gavin Sinclair is officially my book boyfriend. I'm just gonna go ahead and say, that he's probably my favorite 'villain/hero' character. So, I'm staking claim. Ladies, move along. Because listen, he had me mad blushing... Especially that one seen with Kail ;).

Then there was the Rose Bound ceremony which was just *chefs kiss* breathtaking...
UNTIL SOMEONE SHOWED UP AND-
Sorry, you'll have to excuse me...Still not over that whole scandal...
It was perfection until it was "interrupted". Again, the DISRESPECT.

Let it be known that I loved this book! And should you give it a go, you will not be disappointed!

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Let me start off by saying I absolutely adored this book from start to finish. There was so much action and things happening from the get go. I loved the more graphic scenes both sexually and with the violence. It actually added to the atmosphere of the book and didn't take away from the story. And it wasn't put in there just for graphics sake! Huge kudos to both authors!

My only complaint i have, and it does not retract from my star rating, was the pacing in some areas. Sometimes it felt like it zoomed through where i wish more details were given and other times it felt like it dragged and things could have moved a little quicker. But I attribute that to having to build an entire world from scratch. Other then that, it was amazing ❤ I cannot wait until the next book comes out. I need to know what the heck Gavin is going to do!!

Prince Gavin “Jagger” Sinclair is a disappointment to his family, spending all of his time in gambling houses and with bloodwhores. But when he finds out that his parents were murdered, he realizes that he’ll have to step up… and become king.

Rosalie Coston is a vampire heiress, a princess in her own right. With her sister missing, Rose just wants to make sure Gavin’s Ripper doesn’t make another appearance. But what she wasn’t counting on was Oliver Dawson, a dashing werewolf who becomes her partner in crime.

Oliver Dawson has always been intrigued by Rosalie Coston, the snarky vampiress who always knows how to bet. But when she saves his life, he begins to develop feelings for her beyond admiration.

These three people and their stories intertwine to create an incredible fantasy world. Marshall and Walden together have created something unique unto them. I especially loved Rose because she was strong, savvy, and sassy, and she didn’t put up with anyone’s attitude. The plot twist at the end of the novel nearly killed me, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

First of all, I'd like to thank the authors for giving me the opportunity to read this masterpiece.

I absolutely loved this book! I loved the world-building, the characters and their development. I loved Rose and her determination and Gavin and his empathy and understanding.
There were things that irked me, like how easily Gavin and Ollie were okay with just killing each other even though they're best friends and the pace was a little off (really fast in the beginning and end but really slow in the middle) but overall, this book made one hell of a journey.
I would've really liked to see more backstory involving Celeste, her sisters and Limos though. And more information on how Dahlia got her hands on powerful magic and her reason for disliking Rose when clearly Rose loved her sister enough to search for her high and low?
I can't wait to read the sequel!

Non- Spoiler review :

Rose Bound is one of those books that instantly throws you into the thick of it.

What a great world building with an amazing cast of characters from the mob boss villains to the morally grey hero.
Every single one of these characters were so well thought out and written.
J.J. Marshall and J.R Walden have written such a great book with many different themes across the board - drugs, sex, diversity, magic, betrayal, supernatural creatures from vampires, werewolves and gods.
A story full of twist and turns that make you question who you should be rooting for.

It was such a pleasure to get a glimpse at the creative minds these two authors have and I have a feeling that the next book is going to take us on a rollercoaster of a ride.

Brilliant! Enchanting! Delightfully sinful!

Marshall and Walden dazzle readers with their deliciously dark tale of curses, revenge and loyalty. It will have you craving more!

This book was love at first sight. Immediately I was entranced by the story and the characters. The story telling is both beautiful and haunting. Between the steamy scenes and the action, I was in reader heaven! I loved how this story evoked so many emotions from me. Sadly, the ending came much too soon. Book hangover central was my next destination.

Marshall and Walden make a fabulous team. A wonderful debut for Walden. If you’re a fan of dark fantasy and paranormal, this book is for YOU! Add to your TBR today. You won’t be disappointed. I give this 5 stars.

Here's my review of the first book in 'The Rose And Kings' series :-

Almost instantly I was sucked into this book! The world building is amazing!

This is a world that has Gods, Vampires, Werewolves, Ghouls and Humans that are little more than slaves.. this book has everything, Action , Intrigue, Treachery, Scheming Plots, Regicide, Alchemy magic, Blood Lust , Sassy mouthed bandits, Humor, kick-ass lead characters, and steamy sexual encounters.

I'm dying to find out what happens next!!! 🙇‍♀️🙏 I loved it ! I can't recommend it enough!

I know Gavin is the main character but Ollie was my favorite. Flirty werewolf with a soft heart. I liked the world of this book. The legend of Celeste and Limos was very interesting and I wish we got to know more about them. The characters are well written and you feel for them. I really liked Ollie and Rose together so I can't wait to see how everything will play out.

Wow! I gobbled this book up from beginning to end! That cliffhanger though! I was very undecided on who I wanted for Rose but I think the choice at the end was perfect. Ollie is definitely a fighter! And Gavin with his ripper eeek! I can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens with Gavin and Rose! And What Ollie does with Tora!!

☆☆☆☆,5 /5

This book is amazing! The first page instantly hooked me and I couldn't put it down.
I was straying from non-contemporary romance for a bit there, and this book has officially pulled me back in. I cannot wait to see what happens next. As I told friends the day it came out, this is a perfect Valentine's Day read. Get yourself a good cup of coffee or tea, find a cozy spot, and get immersed in the wonderful world that JJ Marshall and JR Walden created. You will not be disappointed. Only downside, ya gotta wait for the next book to come out.
I can't wait to see what other stories these two authors create. They are a dynamic duo and this book showcases their talents beautifully. Go ahead and just buy it. You won't regret it.

I’ve read books from this author previously. Like those, I was impressed by the writing and characters of Rose Bound: The Rose and King series Book 1. It really was well written. Now look forward to part two of the Rose and King series. A five-star book.

Believe me when I say I could not put this book down!! It is a razor thin line between villain and hero in this diabolical and deliciously written story. It is hard to believe there are two authors the voices come together seamlessly. I loved the ebb and flow of the plot and dialog. Oliver will always be my favorite for some reason, but I adored Rosalie and Gavin as well. The emotional turmoil that twists through these three at any given time is dangerous and weaving. From their backgrounds to their new found power and percervierance it is not hard to become.ensnared as well.

Wow we were sent this book as an Arc by J.J Marshall to take a read and wow it was different Ghosts, Ghouls, Vampires and Werewolves all rolled into one.

At first glance of the first few chapters, this book was like nothing I had ever read before and I felt like putting it aside and not continuing with it but I carried on and boy am I glad I did because it completely captivated me with all its darkness from the very 1st page you are thrown into a dark and gory plot with lots of fast-paced action.

You are captured from the beginning with Ollie and Gavin two unlikely best friends one Warewolf one Vampire who is in the depths of the Pitt’s trying to survive amongst the Gauls.
When debts aren’t paid sacrifices are to be met and debts will be paid in other ways so when Gavin thinks he has killed his best friend he leaves upon hearing tragic news and returns home.

Ollie, however, meets Rose and they try desperately to get to Gavin before the ripper can take over but along the way they begin to have a feeling for each other again unusual as they are Vampire and Warewolf. Twists and turns take them here and there to eventually be at the conclusion of the story, I am purposely being vague in my telling of this as I don’t want to give away the plot.

I can’t wait for the next instalment for this story and what will happen next?

I give this 💋💋💋💋

Suspense, magic, werewolves, vampires and romance...what more could you ask for in a good book? J.J. Marshall and J.R. Walden really kept me on the edge of my seat with their the first book in their new series "The Rose and Kings". The first time I read the book, I flew through it in less than a day. I then re-read it at a slightly slower pace to make sure I did not miss anything and because, well, it was that good.
The authors did a great job of capturing the different characters view points and drawing you in with the characters history and relationships. Even with multiple points of view throughout the book, I felt like I was really getting to know each characters and their personalities.
I cannot wait to see where Gavin, Ollie and the rest of the gang go from here and am so excited for the next book to come out!

DNF 40%. Ummm….maybe I’m not in the right mood for this book. Maybe the fact theres like 3 povs and its lowkey third person that bothers me. Like I was sooo confused on which character was which for a moment.

Gavin is also annoying me with his “other side”. Kept going on and on about the same stuff and seemed like the author was trying to hard with his “other side” and him being a vampire.

Ollie or oliver or dawson….uh I can accept him. Mainly because he is a werewolf. He was the only one who was explained in terms of background and his personality right.

Rose….40% into the book and I have no clear idea about her and rather just popped up in the beginning somehow connected to Ollie and Gavin. How? I don’t know but I would expect to 40% in.

This book is so fast with how things are happening yet at the same time slow with no progress.😭😭Like Im boredd and confuseddd.

Ill try again in the future. I just have so many questions that I cant say without spoilers😭. Also these reviews….I feel betrayed.

Rose Bound
The Rose and King Series Book one
by J.J. Marshall

4/5 rating

This author has an eye for detail. The book was very well written the characters were very unique and the plot itself different than your everyday romance book. I loved the Exordium. It helped tie the story together I think. I Love Rose’s character and I love Ollie’s character also. Gavin’s character I’m still up in the air about. Can’t really put my finger on why, could be a personal thing with me, who knows lol. Maybe by the next book I will enjoy him more as his character develops more. The only thing I did not care for was the ending… But that’s because I personally do not like cliff hangers so just for the record everybody this does end on a cliffhanger I do however look forward to the next Books so I will be keeping a close eye on this Author for the remaining books! I do definitely recommend if you love romance and a little bit of naughty because it does have some heat!

Grabbed this as a July book club read and found it to have a decent story line with a fun love triangle twist. A few characters that I really like but wasn't so hooked in to it that was begging for then next one. I'll probably finish the series but not right away.
