Rate this book
My mom should have killed me the day I was born. Now I have to kill my sister. Being a twin complicates the Evian line of succession, but Chancery Alamecha doesn’t want her mother’s throne. Her sister Judica is the merciless fighter, the ruthless politician, and the groomed heir. Chancery doesn’t mind that Judica will take over everything. Truly.Until Judica starts dating the only guy she has ever liked. Chancery’s heartily sick of taking it on the chin. She’s ready to seize control of her own life. But before Chancery can enact her plan to free herself from the miserable life in which she's trapped, she reacts bizarrely to an old relic, fulfilling an arcane prophecy. And that’s when everything really changes. Irrevocably.

Publisher's Weekly said, "Displaced pulses with exciting incident, and even though this is the first book in a series the climax is consequential and exciting, even as it entices readers with the promise of more. Baker's writing is swift but potent, and scenes of action and romance both prove exciting. Chancery's exciting choices power the narrative from start to epic climax."

Kirkus featured Displaced in the indie section of their print magazine the month they reviewed it, and they said, "[Displaced is] a fast moving, engaging tale in what promises to be an epic fantasy romance series."Grab the first three books in the seven book series today--over 1300 pages.

Somehow this book was really fast paced and also slow at the same time. I only read the first one but I’m not reading the others. I felt like I was getting whiplash with how fast the main character was changing her mind about things.

Read this YA series as an audio book and honestly hated the main character 75% of the time but the plot definitely makes up for it. The slow burn romance made me giddy and the drama made me scream.

immediately downloaded the next book in the series!

I tried

To love it. It's petty written, but feels staged in a lot of areas. Kept waiting for serious character development that never seemed to happen. Story line wood great and a new take on the Eve story..

Did not finish book. Stopped at 11%.
I got this book series for free and thought the synopsis was interesting. Sadly, I found the characters to be flat and predictable and character development is very important to me. The world building was also confusing and felt incomplete. I hate DNF reads, but looking at how long this series was and how little I was truly enjoying it in the first 10%, I just couldn't commit to a 1000 page e-book that would possibly be mediocre when I have tons of 5-star reads on my TBR. I do think middle-school me would've absolutely loved this series.

******** this review includes reviews for all 3 books. I tried to make it as "non-spoiler" as possible ******

Book 1:

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. There was so much depth and character building in Chancery's character. She went through so many trials and hurdles. She tried so hard to remain true to herself, even when she was trying to find out exactly who she was. I found myself cheering for her, rooting for her, and believing in her.

I wasn't sure what to think of Edam at first, but found myself loving his character by the end of the book. And Noah's character- so much more than what meets the eye.

Judica....I really wanted to hate this character. Then, I wanted to feel bad for her, then I started to like her. I went through those emotions a few times and want to know what will happen next.

The storyline kept building, leading up to an epic battle. Man, I couldn't put it down. And then, with what happened next - whew and wow.

I can't wait to check out book 2!

Book 2:

Wow oh wow! This book had so many different levels and layers. Action, adventure, new friends, new perspectives on life and what they believe - says and espionage, danger and even love and redemption! This book had it all!!!

It connected so well with the first book, but brought about a whole new view and perspective of certain events from book 1.

I really felt like I finally understood Judica. I have a whole new level of respect for her. Yes, there were times I hated her, but I also grew to really like her and cheered for her!

We got to see more about one person I will call the "double agent". The thought crossed my mind in book 1 that this person could have been a "double agent", but now, I wonder if it goes further than that.

We also got to see a new side to Roman.

I can't wait to read the next book!

Book 3:
Wow, if I could give it more than 5 starts, I would. Thia book picked up where books 1 and 2 end and didn't disappoint!

So many questions answered, but new questions arise.

Friendships - new and old- were lost and found. There was action, adventure, intrigue, love, and more.

We really got to see more about Chancery. Her character has been developed so well throughout the book, and series. She grows, she stumbles, she doubts and overcomes. She learns and hesitates. She is willing to take action, but also willing to accept help.

I start to fall more in love with Edam's character as he grows - both himself and his relationship with Chancery.

Then, that huge surprise in the book - the big reveal that I totally didn't see coming !!!!

I can't wait to read the next book!!! I have to know what happens next!

Crazy concept, but take a dive into this read about the evian race. Compared to peon humans, evians are better at everything. They are smarter, faster, more beautiful (there are some pretty hunky romantic interests in the evian world, too), better hearing, and never get sick. They can repair their injuries, even a literal knife to the heart. There are plenty of those in this series. The evians divided themselves into regions, with each empress ruling over several countries, directing everything in the human world from politics to trade to agriculture. In these queendoms, the females are the strong rulers. Chancery and Judica are the teenage youngest daughters of empress Enora and the first book is about the events leading up to the transition of power from Chancery’s view. The second book retells some of the same events, but also explains some past actions and continuing the story forward, from Judica’s view. The third book switches back and you learn how Chancery feels about her sisters, how she grows into her unwanted role of empress, and the healing of the rift between the twins. Turns out they might both be kind and loyal souls. The teenage queen also has more than her share of suitors you will have a hard time choosing between. She’s not so great at choosing either! You are going to want to read the whole series, so save yourself the time having to go back and buy the next one by getting this box set off the bat.

Birthright series

This box set was a wonderful beginning to the series. Very well written and correctly edited. The world is a group of matriarchal monarchies descended from Adam and Eve. They have centuries long life spans and the royal heir is the youngest daughter. To ensure the purest bloodlines male offspring are sold between the families so the princess can have her pick of eligible suitors. Due to their pure bloodlines they can heal themselves, are fast and have genius intellect. Despite that their society is violent and barbaric. They secretly rule their lesser human citizens, caring nothing about them . All in all this was an excellent saga with political intrigue, magic, adventure and romance. Unfortunately the next four volumes are quite expensive for e books and not available to borrow. Further, a review revealed the loss of my favorite character in the end, so I won't be continuing.

Interesting storyline, a bit weird

The story moves quickly, however by the third story there is a lot of inner dialogue that gets tiresome. Characters are somewhat defined by their thoughts so inner dialogue is present to some extent in most created characters, I understand that but this circular narrative gets old fast. I want to read the rest of the series because the story is fun and different. It has a strong tie to the monotheistic biblical tales so it’s not my usual urban fantasy but it hasn’t become offensive yet . There is action, romance, and mystery with a little light science fiction thrown in , so it is a good escape from the daily grind.

This is one of my favorite series, and it definitely tops the list for favorite urban fantasy series. The world building is great, and the story is unique. The pacing throughout all the books is well done. Chancery is an easy character to like, and her character development throughout is done well. Judica’s character may not seem likable at first, but she also shows tremendous growth throughout the series. I think the love triangle in the series is done well. If you like super humans, action, and some romance—you will love these books.

With several strong female characters, swords, hot guys, metamorphism and book boyfriend worthy male characters. You wont be disappointed with this unique take kn super humans.
There is also a love triangle that you cannot resist. Even in the end I don’t know if im team Noah or team Edam!
A NICE REFRESHING NOTE IS THAT ALL BRIDGETS BOOKS ARE CLEAN. No need to sensor the audio books for young ears or worry about your tween picking up and flipping to an age inappropriate page

Definitely Different

So glad I took a chance on this series. Someone should rewrite the blurb. It fid not entice me.
I started this because I was bored.

3 days later... I could not PUT THIS SERIES DOWN.

While sometimes the main character irks my soul she is still after all " only human and barely 18"

A definite must have and a keeper to continue with and reread it. Like a good friend.

Buy. Don't hesitate

Love all 3 books

I wrote separate reviews for each book but still some I bought this book I still want to put up that I really enjoyed reading them. From book one with Chancery point of view to book two with Judica point of view to book three with Chancery point of view again.

They are always twists and turns you don’t see coming till they happen and spend time thinking about off there was any hints you missed.

Really enjoyed this collection of books.

The 1st one was a little hard to get into to begin with but thats my fault because I didn’t expect it to be set in locations that exist.
The characters of Chancery and Judica were amazing and I loved everything from J’s pov in the 2nd book.
Side note: it really had me weary of Inara because of the way she seemed to play both sides with the twins.. very thought inducing.

I’m so angry at that ending!

I love this series so far. Every book has been really good. It feels like a complete plot but still not the entire story by the end of every book. Which is how you should do a cliffhanger imo! Still, I’m so mad at this ending! 😂 but only because it made me want to read the next book so much.
There are just too many books in this series to pay for each one for me at this time. I really wish these were in KU right now.

Intense, brutal, romantic and an incredible story

The Storyline is fast-paced but very detailed. Twins destined for epic times of changes after centuries. One is destined to be Queen of Queens to save and rule the world. But who can she trust? The first three books were hard to put down. I'm excited to get to the next set. The conclusion has to be outstanding.

Loved these books! Couldn’t put them down and read the whole series in less than a month. I love how Bridget develops the characters throughout the series, leaving out enough information about each character in the beginning to completely surprise you later on.

Wonderful Series!

I was enthralled from the first page! Judica is my favorite character! You definitely have to read the second book. It's my favorite by far, pit of the first three. I never thought that I would have so much compassion and love for Judica.

This series was a bit too long...the story was great tho and some of the characters drew me in...I loved Judica and Roman...chancery was annoying and noah deserved her...Edam deserved more. Enora was a massive itch and an awful parent.

good ya books

Good YA adventure books. Some romance thrown in but kissing is the worst of it. Liked the second book a lot. Interested to see where the story goes.
