I liked the summary so decided to give this novel a try but sadly was disappointed.
It features a gaming obsessed top actor x popular female gaming streamer. The kicker is that they're both a fan of each other; the actor watches the FL's streams to relax and the FL has been a HUGE fan of the actor since his first movie many years ago. There's a 7 year age gap between the two. I think the FL is around 22 and the ML is around 28?
My biggest problem with the story is that the romance happens too quickly without much buildup. They've both been fans of each other for a while, and for that reason they like each other and get together? It felt similar to instant love as the ML starts chasing the FL very quickly. It's like the author didn't even try to include any build up to their relationship.
My issues with this novel isn't limited to the romance, the story itself felt very disjointed. Many times a chapter would start off with some mini arc before transitioning to a new mini arc after a couple chapters. This was especially noticeable after they got together. It just didn't felt like it flowed very well.
The author tried to write the story and dialogue in a humorous way but it fell flat and wasn't actually that funny.
My last complaint is how unrealistic everything is. I find it hard to believe that the male lead, a popular award winning actor, can just stroll around casually with just a cap and mask on. There were times where they kissed in public and even went to the grocery store together. That's not something a popular actor in China could ever get away with. In real life, the actor would get recognized and photographed by both paps and fans immediately and make the headlines the next day, especially if he was walking around with a pretty girl.
Another example is this: the FL never shows her face on her live streams, just her hands. However, the first time she streamed from the ML's apartment, she didn't realize her face was partially visible on the live stream until the viewers pointed it out, after which she immediately moved the camera. That just seems super unrealistic for a seasoned live streamer to not adjust the camera before starting the live stream, especially for her first time filming in a new location. But of course, the author needed to use this as a plot point for their relationship to be revealed, so it doesn't matter what's realistic as long as it suits her purpose *sigh*
Personally I wouldn't recommend this novel. Didn't feel like a very polished story by any means. At least it was short, as I finished in a couple hours.
