Griffin Lawson was trained to steal, torture and kill…
So, when my brother mails me a mysterious map that leads to a long-lost treasure and then disappears, I know this ex-CIA operative is the perfect man to help me. What I don’t expect, though, is the instant chemistry that sparks between us. I’m a boring, predictable librarian with a cat. Basically, a walking stereotype who has accepted her lonely fate. But, when Griff and I team up to track down an infamous gangster’s gold and find my brother, my life takes an adventurous turn full of danger, excitement and intrigue. We can’t deny the attraction that burns between us and it doesn’t take long before it’s an all-out conflagration. But, Griff claims he’s not a good person and that he’s seen too much. He may believe he’s a monster, but I see a good man who was willing to sacrifice his life for his country…and now for me. I know I shouldn’t get involved with him, that he’s a heartbreak waiting to happen, but I can’t stay away no matter how hard I try. I can feel myself falling hard, and now that we’re on the verge of finding a priceless treasure and solving a nearly 100-year-old mystery, I can’t help but wonder...
How do I trust a man who claims he has no conscience and used to lie for a living?
Sometimes love hurts. Certainly, the hurt was not intentional. An individual is not likely to have as an end goal to hurt the other person. But, it happens. Love’s emotional timetable, and synchronizing that table to the other lover’s timetable is not always possible. And the result is almost always the same—someone gets hurt. No one usually dies, but someone gets hurt.
For Griffin Lawson, known by most of his acquaintances as Griff, the handsome former CIA operative with sky-blue eyes and thick brown hair, the consequences of love were not only hurtful, but they did lead to death—the death of sweet Mia his CIA partner. The two who were so careful in their jobs, were careless in love and the news of unplanned and definitely unexpected pregnancy shared before a undercover operation in Russia may have been the difference between Mia’s death and Griff’s capture and subsequent torture. Now, he is plagued by nightmares that revisit such moments, awakening him to hours of tormented PTSD.
Alexandria Ryder grew up under the loving care of her single mother. Her father, the product of an emotionally damaged war vet father who comforted himself with alcohol and ended his life with his service pistol showed little regard for how his emotional detachment from his young son would impact a future generation. It was no real surprise, but a deep regret of Lexi’s mom that her young husband, the son of that damaged vet, would also follow his dad’s alcoholism to his death, leaving his wife with 2 fatherless children. And Lexi’s brother Kyle did not follow his father and grandfather’s additive pathways, but he did seek freedom from his family’s past, and left home as soon as he turned 18. He was a soldier of fortune, going where ever there was promise of profit, adventure or pleasure and who currently lived in NYC. And while she loves and trusts her brother, she made the mistake of thinking that his friends were good men. She still bears the emotional bruises left behind by one of his friends, Jeremy Holden, who broke her heart and destroyed her self-esteem when he cheated on her with multiple women.
But now, her brother has mysteriously reached out to her. He has sent her what appears to be a treasure map. As a librarian at the Pasadena Public Library, Lexi specializes in old documents, so she can recognize that the map is old—perhaps 100 years old—based on the hand coloring of the map. And when she receives a call from her brother’s girlfriend, Candace Thorne, she is stunned to hear that her brother has been kidnapped, explaining that the Kyle and she had been on a treasure hunt when he disappeared.
So, Lexi takes a leave from work, and while she is a skilled researcher, she knows that she needs help to find her brother. So, she seeks the advice of a friend whom she knows from the library, Harlow Vaughn. And Harlow gives her the name of a former CIA operative, Griffin Lawson, who is now employed with Platinum Securities. And so, she makes contact with the firm and hires Griff to help her begin the quest to find and release her kidnapped brother.
This dark romantic thriller is a departure from Kelly Myers romantic comedies, but Myers holds her own with the feel and verbal dialogue rhythms of the Film Noir detectives of the 40’s. Her characters are engaging, their back stories intriguing, and when in the same room, the temperature rises with the growing pull between Griff and Lexi. I look forward to continuing the revelation of Griff’s partners, Jaxston Wilder, a former member of the LAPD and Ryker Flynn, a former Navy SEAL, both who need help in shedding the darkness of their past careers. And perhaps over time, new hire, cyber security expert and surfer of the dark web, Harlow Vaughn, who goes by the moniker Shadow Walker will add her skills to the team—so many possibilities!

🗺️Treasure map 🖤K1dnapp1ng 🗺️Missing brother 🖤Librarian 🎧 8:25 Jamie Kersey & Kenneth Elliott- Did an amazing job narrating this. Absolute Perfection! Great pace and clear speaking.
Brilliant !! What a Fabulous adventure this book was,I loved it and didn't want it to end. Kelly Myers is an amazing story teller and book 2 in this series Dark Riches was a magnificent read/listen. Like the previous book I listened to the audiobook version of this story and once again it was narrated by the wonderful Jamie Kersey and Kenneth Elliott....and they were perfection I cannot find any fault and wouldn't want to about their performance. Listening to them was such a pleasure. This book is about Griffin the next Platinum security man to fall for someone he shouldn't,and that woman is librarian Lexi. Lexi was sent a myserious map by her brother and now her brother had gone missing and now she needs help to find him and to discover what the map will uncover. Griffin is the man who opts to help her find her brother and the treasure that his kidnappers want for themselves. This is the start of a rollercoaster of a romance and a thrilling story that will have you gripped from the start...with a link to the mafia Griffin and Lexi are thrown into danger and a connection that won't be denied. Griffin and Lexi are very attracted to one another but Griffin has a painful past and will no longer let himself get close to anyone again. Lexi does not want to be just another one of Griffin's meaningless flings but she can't seem to stop her body reacting to him,and behaving recklessly when she is around him. But being intimate is inevitable even though Lexi tries to prevent it,she finally gives in and they are explosive together....meant for eachother. I adored Griffin I felt so bad for him as he held alot of guilt from his past and continued to torture himself by events he couldn't have stopped. Lexi was not what he expected and she seemed to continue to surprise him with her courage and beauty...She is a great character very loyal to her brother and sassy when she needed to be. I am loving this series so far and I am so happy there will be more books. Dark Riches was an action packed romance that I could imagine being a movie its thrilling, steamy, emotional and a little bit angsty full of entertainment and a very intriguing plot,it has all the ingredients of a Superb romanctic suspense. With phenomenal writing and flawless narration this is one story you don't want to miss. Loved it. 5 Stars.
Dark Riches Platinum Security, Book 2 By: Kelly Myers Narrated by: Kenneth Elliott, Jamie Kersey
This is my first book written by Kelly Myers and consider me impressed. I enjoyed her writing style and the story she created is original, with interesting storylines that captivated my attention from start to end. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they were easy to care about too. Alexandria “Lexi” Ryder, is very knowledgeable, a perk of being a research librarian and when her brother, Kyle, was kidnapped, her friend Harlow Vaughn recommended Griffin “Griff” Lawson from Platinum Security. Griff is a former CIA operative and the best locator there is, and after looking at the picture Harlow sent, she could tell he was also gorgeous. Griff felt an instant attraction the moment Lexi walked into his office. But he was not going to even go there since he does not get involved with clients, plus he is anti-relationship because his last relationship left a nasty taste in his mouth. The two go to New York to find her brother and while he had reservations about his kidnapping, all the pieces fall into place to confirm foul play and then take them on a treasure hunt of their own. I loved all the layers to this story and the complexity of the characters. The world building and plotting is fantastic, and the story has plenty of drama, a touch of angst, some action, mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Kelly Myers, thank you for this intriguing story!
🎧📚🎧 And for the terrific narration, Kenneth Elliott and Jamie Kersey are entertaining storytellers and versatile voice artists. They did a great job bringing these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that fit that character’s persona and was believable in every role they played. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into his performance. Thank you for the great listen.
⚓⚓ONE ENTHRALLING JOURNEY⚓⚓ Hatching hoydens homer! Kelly doesn't miss a beat bouncing to her own tune and busting a move with this hardcore rock-her-world thrill ride, divvying out some ruthless tactics, brutal lessons and relentless pursuits, catapulting this gem to new heights. Delivering one action packed, hard hitting, heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, block busting bombshell, wrapping this hot number up sleek, shiny and tight. Shenanigans and serendipity descend in a tempest of unpredictable events and difficult decisions, observing the separate struggles and challenging triumphs, while attentive to the deadly twists and stunning turns unfolding, secrets are shared, revelations disclosed and promises pledged, blasting this baby to life spectacularly. The attraction and chemistry ignites with such intoxicating intensity, showcasing the explosive emotions and infinite affection, drawing our characters closer, binding them together seamlessly. The characters are complex, genuine and realistic with traits and qualities that balance and blend, with amazing depth and diversity with enough spice to add an extra kick to the mix. The scenes are abundantly descriptive with colorful details that blend and flow, creating a majestic backdrop that's so rich and lively it feels as though you're part of the story instead of on the sidelines, feeling everything the characters feel. Fabulous job Kelly, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.
Dark Riches Platinum Security, Book 2 By: Kelly Myers Narrated by: Kenneth Elliott, Jamie Kersey
National Treasure meets an unlikely romance to give an amazing adventure! Kelly Myers is a new to me author and she writes the kind of books I gobble up! This is a fantastic story of Lexi, a librarian who's brother mails her a treasure map and then goes missing. On her friend's recommendation, she hires Griff, an ex-CIA operative to help find him, and these two get way more than they bargained for! Danger lurking, the unknown condition of her brother and an attraction that does everything but get in their way blossoms and grows! Will these two get to her brother in time? Is there really a treasure to even find? And what will happen to their budding romance once the case is closed? This is a fast paced, spicy story chock full of all the thrills and suspense along with passion! My kind of listen! This is a fabulous story and I will be looking for more by Myers!
Kenneth Elliott and Jamie Kersey are both new to me and I fell in love with their performance. Easy on the ears, these two fell into character, bringing the excitement, fear and sensuality that makes the story flow. I enjoyed every minute and look forward to more from them.
Alexandria, aka Lexi, is a librarian and she loves it but she has no life. Griffin, aka Griff, has a dark past. Ex-CIA now working for Platinum Security. Lexi gets a phone call her brother is missing. Than she receives a map in the mail from him. Turns out he was hunting for Dutch Schultz's treasure that he hid nearly 100 yrs. ago. Lexi hires Griff to help her find her brother. Her place gets ransacked. Someone was looking for the map. An attraction between them is apparent. Lexi is scared she'll fall for him and get her heart broken. She tries to stay away but they are drawn to each other. Griff swears never to fall for anyone because of what happened in is past. Things happen that actually brings them closer. Surprises are in store for them. Will they find Lexi's brother? What happens between Griff and Lexi? Loved the book!
Happily Ever After, the Complete Platinum Security Series is a fun and fascinating journey into the lives and loves of four very different alpha-male protectors. Each novel focuses on a couple, and each storyline is different—though they are all fast-paced, intense, and filled with action, adventure, and intrigue. The chemistry between each leading couple is fiery hot, and I adore how each of the leading women are strong, independent, and brave in their own ways.
The narrators did an awesome job performing the various roles; I was sucked straight in to each story and hooked until the very end. AND after the last story concludes, there are extended epilogues for all 4 couples, which are definitely best enjoyed after all 4 of the stories have been enjoyed. This series is a winner, and so much fun! Highly recommend!.

I am really, really liking this grittier series from Ms. Myers. This time we have a spy and a librarian. Lexi finds out her brother is missing but that is after she's mailed a treasure map from him! She reaches out and hires Griff from Platinum Security. Griff is a player and Lexi is more like the librarian stereotype, she has a cat too! Loved that Ryder is looking after Whimsy and he's been hired by Platinum. It's also a nice introduction to Cole who I hope comes on board. Plug in some games of two truths and a lie, some betting and you've got some hot conversations. "You've taken me to heaven so take me to hell. I don't care." Definite page turner with a lot of tension of the best kind.
EXCITING! This wonderful read by Ms. Myers is action that never stops. Danger that never ebbs. Romance with a capital R. Lexi and Griff are wonderful characters that are exact opposites. Her life has had very little excitement; however, his life has been on exciting and ultra dangerous situation after another. When she hires him to help her find her brother and then help them find the treasure little does she know what’s in store for the two of them and then the three of them. I was drawn completely into the story and couldn’t stop reading until the very last word and then was sorry when it had to end. Looking forward to her next book! This was a fantastic book. I loved Griff and Lexi's story. These two seem like polar opposites but they are prefect for each other. I loved the action, suspense, intrigue, tension, steam, pain, and the HEA that this book had to offer. Griff is haunted by his past and has not been able to to move on from it. Lexi is a shy, introvert, librarian but thanks to Griff she comes out of her shell. Griff and Lexi help each other in unexpecting ways and unable to deny their feelings, even though they try, they fall fast and hard for each other. I can't wait for Ryker's book! I really loved this book and I would highly recommend it, this series and Ms. Kelly as a great author.

Wow! This book was full of adventure and romance. Griff has demons to deal with after his partner is killed in a mission gone wrong. Lexi is a librarian whose brother gets kidnapped. Lexi hires Griff to locate and rescue her brother. They also do a bit of treasure hunting looking for the lost treasure that the mysterious map points to. Griff and Lexi have a sizzling night but she freaks out because she realizes that Griff is not a long term commitment kind of guy. As this mission goes on they are getting to know each other. They both start to open up. Griff is starting to deal with his demons and Lexi is falling harder. This book is great action, adventure, history and of course hot romance.

Lexi ends up getting a map from her brother who ends up disappearing. Lexi calls Griffin Lawson, an ex-CIA operative, to help find her missing brother. Lexi and Griff find an instant spark but Griff tells Lexi that he's not willing to get involved with her since he's a heartbreak waiting to happen. So they go on a priceless treasure hunt and on the verge of solving a 100 year old mystery. This has adventure, action, history, mystery, suspense and romance. I love that Griffis working on his demons and Lexi is falling harder for her man. Will these two finally get to their HEA? Will Lexi and Griff find her brother in time? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
He is an ex-CIA operative and she is a Librarian. When Griff made the statement, “I am completely immune to women’s charm”, I bet he never expected to come across Lexi. Lexi is worried for her brother. He mailed her a map one that is causing all kinds of chaos and if she doesn’t get to either the contents the map is said to reveal or her brother in time she may be the next to become collateral. Griffin is captivated with Lexi right from the start and the sparks between them can light up the darkest sky’s. Will this librarian get to her brother in time and will Griffin get to stamp a due date on Lexi’s heart? This story draws you in and have you all caught up in the drama from start to finish.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This book takes you thru some drama, danger and suspense. Lexi receives a map from her missing brother. She gets Griffin to help her solve the map and hopefully find her brother. These two are opposites in a lot of ways. They have an attraction between them that cannot be denied. When things get bad, he plans on protecting her then keeping her. Their path to happiness is full of unknowns, twists and turns. Griffin and Lexi might just get a future together

Adventure and conquest 4.5 It's a good romance, full of twists and turns, with excellent characters who are magnetically drawn to each other, but who flee either because of the past or for fear of a future. On paper, the characters are also poles apart from one another between Lexi, the discrete librarian and Griffin, the former CIA agent haunted by the loss of his former partner, but their story to save the brother of Lexi, bring them closer. Their tenacious but somewhat stubborn character quickly gave me empathy for both characters. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
The adventure continues in the second book of the Platinum Security series.
At the recommendation of a friend, Lexi hires Griff, an ex-CIA operative that works for Platinum Security to help find her brother who's been kidnapped. As Lexi explains about her brother being a treasure hunter and receiving a 100 year old map in the mail, he is curious enough to agree to help her. Being a librarian, Lexi's research and the intel about who may have kidnapped her brother, makes Griff a believer that the treasure may be real. Trying to find her brother and Dutch Schultz's treasure is adding some much needed excitement to Lexi's boring life. What neither Lexi nor Griff expect is to also find love and their HEA.
Great narration by Jamie Kersey and Kenneth Elliott.
I enjoyed this read. A thrilling storyline serves as a excellent background for the intriguing characters. The sparks and chemistry are off the charts in this wonderful read. Griffin and Lexi made quite the pair. I liked them both so much and the starkness of their differences only served to make everything even more appealing. A combination of romance, adventure, drama, emotions, tension, suspense and danger make a potent and combustible brew that will have you more than happy to strap in for one very exciting and enjoyable read. This is my impartial, independent review.
Lexi gets a map and her brother disappears. She goes to get ex CIA Griff to help her find her brother. This book has it all it has love, romance, action, adventure, intrigue, suspense, and a mystery or two. The chemistry was off the pages, Lexi is a quiet librarian with a cat, Griff is ex CIA and is just a wonderfully hot character. This is just a wonderful story that kept me engaged and entertained it hooked me from the start. I just hope there is more stories to follow.

The guys of Platinum Security are alpha males who are tortured by their pasts. They need strong, feisty women to stand beside them.
Griff, haunted by the loss of his girl and their unborn baby, has nothing more on his mind than business and maybe a meaningless night beneath the sheets when he takes the case to help find Lexi’s kidnapped brother. What he gets is a whole lot more!
Dark Riches is the second book in Kelly Myers’ Platinum Security series! Well written and engaging with enough chemistry and heat to start a bonfire, this book is not to be missed!
Treasures of the heart and buried wealth on the line!
Lexi is a librarian who lives with her cat, Whimsy, loves her work with maps and has given up on men. That is until she meets Griffin. Her brother is missing and she receives a package from him with a gangster map in it. She hires Griff, former CIA operative, to help her find her brother and possibly the treasure. Great adventure, lots of mutual attraction, great sex. I enjoyed the tie in with the lost Dutch Schultz treasure.
Kelly Myers is a new-to-me author. Dark Riches is the second in the series. It was easy to follow without having read the first book, though I could tell that characters appear in both books. I thought the storyline was interesting.
I listened to the audiobook. The narrators, Kenneth Elliott and Jamie Kersey, were also new-to-me. I thought the did an excellent job with their performances and I would listen to both again.
I received a copy of the audiobook at my request, and the opinions here are my own.
ARC Review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. ALexandria (lexi) Ryder a researcher librarian at the Pasadena central library and when she received a map of the gangster 's gold a urban legend since prohibition from her brother Kyle ,who ends up missing. she gets with Griffin Lawson from platinum security and ex black op agent for the cia. This is 10 stars of fantastic writing.
Loved Griff and Lexi’s story. The librarian and the spy what a combination. No one would have ever placed them together and no one would have thought that it could be more than just sex between the two. When two people are meant for each other than the universe has a way of helping them out. If you want to find out what happened between these two and trust me you are goin to want to you need to get this book and read it. It is fantastic
Lexi gets an old map in the post. Her brother Kyle sent it. It’s an old treasure map. She calls him, but he doesn’t answer. Later on she understand that he is kidnapped. To get help she connects with Platinum... and meets Griff... It was good to meet Jax and Easton again, even if brief and to get to know Griff a little better. Lexi and Griff hit it off together.... I really enjoyed this story. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book
This is Lexi, and Griffs love story she's a Librarian looking for her missing brother who is a treasure hunter, he's a former CIA Operative with a dark past.
This is a well written story that will make you laugh, and cry but also intrigue you and keep you up at night because you won't be able to put it down until you reach the very end, I also would suggest if your not looking to read steamy love scenes or not of a mature age this book and series is NOT for you.
Lexi and Griff are thrown together when she hires PS to find her brother. Griff is closed off and Lexi is not very experienced sexually but the chemistry between them sizzles despite both not wanting any relationship.
I loved the sexual tension between them. Delightfully written by Myers designed to keep the readers as frustrated as the couple in the book. Add the fun of searching for buried treasure and you have a great book.
This was a nice read, Griffin, another one of the Platinum Security tortured souls, is a protector at heart. After his years in Black Ops and his personal loss, he has given up on love. But in walks Alexandria, the not so dumpy librarian. Add this couple together with treasure hunting and you got a great story.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book and I absolutely loved it, well-written with a fast-paced intriguing storyline. There is plenty of drama, intrigue, action and sizzling chemistry in this book that kept me thoroughly entertained. Loved both characters, really likable. On the surface they are complete opposites but deep down they are perfect for each other.
I lov3d this suspense and twisty storyline. Griff the ex CIA agent is hired by Lexi the Librarian to discover the treasure. The storyline is well developed and entertaining. The characters are engaging and have plenty of chemistry throughout the pages.
