Brothers in Arms #3

Love on the Range

Rate this book
Wyatt Hunt is temporarily bedridden and completely miserable. Somehow Molly Garner's limited skills have made her the most qualified in their circle to care for Wyatt. But by the time he's healed, she's fed up with him and the whole ungrateful family. For even worse than his grumpiness were the few unguarded moments when he pulled at her heartstrings, and she has long determined to never marry.

Molly gets a job as the housekeeper at Oliver Hawkins's ranch. But really she's with the Pinkertons, spying to find out if Hawkins has abused women and if he's guilty of murder.

Wyatt refuses to let her risk it alone, convincing Hawkins that he's abandoning his own ranch, angered by his two brothers' coming to claim a big chunk of it.

But when another Pinkerton agent gets shot, they realize Hawkins isn't the only danger. The Hunt brothers will have to band together to face all the troubles of life and love that suddenly surround them.

A highly satisfactory conclusion to the series. Throughly enjoyed the resolution of multiple plot lines and the romance was sweet. Great characterization that kept the ensemble cast feeling fresh and unique.

Great conclusion to the series with several details about the families coming to light. Loved that Molly showed a great deal of grit.

Love on the Range is the third book in Mary Connealy's Brothers in Arms series. Wyatt Hunt is frustrated over events that have him losing a big chunk of his ranch to previously unknown brothers. Molly moved to Wyoming with her brother to find out about his inheritance. She ends up taking car off Wyatt's gun shot wound. Mysteries still abound as to what is going on behind the attacks on the Hunt brothers.

Huge plot twist that I did not see coming! Wow! Connealy does another fantastic job with her book! Western, romance, mystery all wrapped in one awesome book and series. A must read!

Picking up right where the previous book left off, Wyatt and his brothers must band together to make a stand to protect their ranch.

The final book in Brothers in Arms Trilogy, this book ties it all together in a satisfying adventure that will keep you on the tip of your toes. I loved getting to know Molly and Wyatt better over the course of the book.

Molly is tired of being over looked, she is capable and smart, but feels like her skills are underutilized. She volunteers to go undercover for the Pinkertons to gather the missing evidence to bring down a criminal. I liked how Wyatt's protective side came out when she went undercover, and how he leans on his brothers for advice.

I loved how this book brings together all of the brothers in force, filled with familiar faces and brand new twists along the way. I liked the fast paced action, fantastic characters, faith and romance along the way. An excellent conclusion!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Mary Connealy has wrapped up her Bothers in Arms series with an exciting conclusion. This time it was brother Wyatt who woos Molly Garner. We finally get answers to what was going on with Oliver Hawkins at his ranch and family secrets and connections become clear. With humor, Ms Connealy showcases the women and their various skills from cooking to shooting. The theme of the story is how to honor God while trying to honor dishonorable parents. As always, faith drives the brothers and their wives and Godly principles are shown throughout the story. The family connections in this series were a bit hard to understand at the beginning but that added to the suspense and was interesting to unravel.
What started out as wary, surprise kinfolk ended up as a tight knit family living out their faith in harmony.
If you like cowboy adventures, be sure and read Brothers in Arms.

"And he'd have to track them down if he wanted something to do besides go charging back into the house and kissing Molly again. Right in front of her brother this time.
Oh, there was an idea fit to get a man shot."

This is a fantastic ending to what has quickly become my favorite series by Mary Connealy. I have loved reading Kevin and Falcon's stories and Wyatt's was a perfect conclusion. This one has it all, romance, danger, mystery, comedy and multiple jaw dropping moments(at least for me). In a nutshell, I loved this story and the whole series. When it comes time for me to pick my favorite 2021 reads, this entire series will be on it. That is how phenomenal I found this series. I am sorry that it's over!

I received this book from the publisher but also purchased my own audio copy on Audible. All thoughts are my own.

I purely love a Mary Connealy book. I have been a fan since I read the first book by her. Now I never miss one and eagerly look to each new one. This series is so much fun. Three brothers, who never knew they were brothers, try to come to grips with the fact that their biological father was a low down snake in the grass.

Here is Wyatt and Molly’s story. Connealy ties everything up quite nicely as all the family pulls together to set things right. I am always giggling throughout at Connealy’s dry wit. And she always includes a sweet spiritual truth. Each time I finish one of her books, I am hungry for the next. Well done!!

My thanks to Bethany House for a copy of this book via Net Galley. The opinion here is my own.

This is the third book of the Brothers in Arms series, and I would definitely recommend reading them in order. Each book has its own wrap up and conclusion, but the overarching mystery doesn't get solved until this final book. The couples featured in the previous books play important roles in this story as well, so I liked having a good sense of their personalities and what they've been through.

Molly has been in the background a bit- taking care of the house, meals, and doctoring while the others are working the ranch and fighting their enemies. I loved how the author showed her frustration and pent-up anger over her situation and how she dealt with it. Molly comes into her own by attempting to leave the family for an outside job, which provided a real wake-up call to the brothers to realize her needs. Wyatt grows closer to her while recovering and doesn't want her to leave either. I appreciated that their romance was more slow to build than the others, giving them time and space to develop a relationship that is less impulsive and more purposeful. All the while, Cheyenne and Falcon are learning the identities of their mysterious enemies with the help of the Pinkerton agent and Molly and Wyatt's dangerous undercover investigation.

The pace of the book is somewhat jerky as the action races forward then slows when the siblings and spouses converse about their discoveries and next plans. Because there is usually a group of them talking things out and disagreeing over some parts, the conversations get a bit tedious, but it also does a great job of showcasing the different personalities and motivations. Kevin's wife Win from the first book carries the spiritual thread as she explored what it means to follow the Biblical admonition to honor your parents when one of them is not making good choices and hurting those he should be showing love to. It's a lesson all the siblings need as they reconcile themselves to the destruction left behind by the man who brought them all together in the end.

Best of the series! I think she left out a tiny detail at the end? Just assumed we’d figure it settled.
BUT OTHER THSN THAT. Whoa, MC steppin’ up that suspense game! I was feeling a little like I was caught up in a Lynette Eason with those kinds of crimes and villains. The western atmosphere helped take the edge off for me, though, which was good, because I’m not really seeking out that sub genre just now. And I LOVED the sweet, slower-than-the-others’ romance. Molly and Wyatt are awesome characters. As is Rachel. THE END.

Wyatt's story and the full circle conclusion of this series are not to be missed!

The Brothers in Arms series takes the secret siblings concept to a Wyoming ranch bequeathed to three half-brothers under questionable circumstances. Additional siblings and family friends round out the eclectic makeshift family as adventure and mystery drive Kevin, Falcon, and Wyatt's stories.

Although the three books share portions of an overlapping timeline, each has a satisfying conclusion. Readers experience the benefit of multiple characters' reactions to pivotal events, refreshing their memory of previous stories without simply retelling.

Connealy's signature romantic comedy and forthright banter soften the edges of past and present trauma as the Hunt brothers gradually uncover and process the full scope of their father's nefarious behavior. I thoroughly enjoyed these stories and their themes of trust, faith, legacy, and family.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

This was an enjoyable end to the Brothers in Arms series. It has a slightly stronger focus on Molly and Wyatt, but a fair amount of the story is told from the perspectives of Cheyenne, Falcon, Kevin, and Winona (so if you missed them, then you can look forward to more of them!). Regardless, it would probably help to read the first two books in the series to best understand this one, as it takes place immediately after book 2 and continues a major ongoing plot.

I was pleased that I was right about certain hints I picked up on in the first couple books, but there was a major surprise I did not see coming in this one. I like being right, but I like being surprised (so long as it makes sense) even more, and with this book I was both!

I wouldn't have minded if Molly's journey to healing was a little more prominent, since she has a pretty heavy past to work past, but I'm glad about the choices she makes in the end, even if it's a lot easier than would be realistic. But this is a romantic comedy (albeit a highly suspenseful one), so it doesn't really bother me to suspend my disbelief that far. Overall, it was a good ending to series. (Oh, and there's a cameo from a previous series--watch for it!)

Thank you Bethany House and NetGalley for the complimentary e-book. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions are my own.

While I appreciated a good ending to a series "Love on the Range" isn't my favorite of Mary Connealy's books.

The siblings getting to know each other and the sweet romances were fun. However the head jumping and the darkness of the crimes and such were a downside.

If you're looking for a fun somewhat dark but sweet romance this may be the read for you.

Content warning: a serial killer, murderers, mentions of abuse, abuse, and more.

The third and final book in Mary Connealy's Brothers in Arms series is the perfectly satisfying last bite of the delicious meal that you never wanted to end. Packed full of Connealy's trademark Western adventure, this humorous romance will keep you turning pages until the very end. While I am a huge fan of Mary Connealy's writing and have read nearly every one of her books, I have to admit this may be my favorite of all the series she has ever written. This series has engaging characters, unexpected twists, humorous moments, vivid descriptions, and a spiritual message that underlies it all. I could not ask for more. I highly recommend the Brothers in Arms series to anyone looking for a great Western romance.

This is the third book in the Brothers in Arms series. I read the first one and got a rather ho-hum impression of the book. I didn't read the second one and found myself lost from the get-go on this third one. It's hard to tell where all the characters fit in because I didn't read the second one. Most of the time when I read something I don't particularly like by an author I have really liked previously, I will give that author the benefit of the doubt and just say it was a one off kind of thing. Love on the Range and the whole Brothers in Arms series does not fit that description. The reader has to begin with the first book and read them in order to keep up with the characters and where they fit. Even doing this, the readers may find themselves a bit lost. With so many in the mix, it is hard to keep in mind that this is Molly's and Wyatt's story. Everyone seems to be trying to take a starring role, and no one is willing to be a supporting cast member.

I really wish I could have enjoyed the book more, but it didn't seem to have the element of fun I've experienced in other Mary Connealy books. Ultimately, how much a reader likes a book comes down to personal taste. There will be other readers who absolutely love this book and will rate it highly. I wish I were one of those readers, but I am not. Two stars.

Bethany House and NetGalley.com provided the copy I read for this review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

Let me start by saying, the Brothers in Arms series by Mary Connealy is one best read in order because there are simultaneous events happening through them and a couple of major plot lines are not resolved until book three (but books one and two do both have satisfying endings).

Love on the Range has a darker overtone than most of Connealy’s books because of the villain (and that’s all I’ll say about that to avoid spoilers). The three brothers who have just learned about each other and are now living together band together with the women around them to figure out just who is behind trying to get them off their ranch. And there is a lot of action happening throughout.

I loved learning more about Molly and seeing a different side of her than we had in the previous books and the way the brothers come to accept each other is great. Love on the Range is a satisfying series wrap up where the bad guys get their comeuppance and the good guys find their happily ever after.

This was the third and final book in the Brothers in Arms series. While the first 2 were fine to read out of order and read fine as stand-alones, this one is best read within the series and best read at the end as there are sizable spoilers in this book for the earlier books. This book follows Wyatt, the youngest of the Hunt brothers and Molly, Kevin's half-sister. Some loose ends are also tied up with the other characters. It was a nice conclusion to the series and it was great to see all of the story lines come to a good conclusion. I enjoyed the story-line and the mystery included in this one as well as the continuance of the characters. I'm glad this series has introduced me to a new author!

The final book in the Brothers in Arms series by Mary Connealy, Love on the Range concludes the overarching story as well as telling Molly and Wyatt’s story. I love how Ms. Connealy’s series have larger stories across them, but still have individual stories within each book. The last book has usually been my favorite in her series, because of the characterization that has been done throughout and being able to see all the characters that you loved from the previous books. This series follows the Hunt brothers as they discover secrets about their father and establish a life for themselves in Montana. Wyatt was born and raised in Montana, but the revelation of two brothers who his father left shakes his world. Though he has mostly adjusted to the new arrivals and the revealed secrets about his father, some mysteries are still unsolved. After being shot and subsequently bedridden, Wyatt is left being cared for by Molly Garner whose limited skills make her the most qualified. Though by the end she is fed up with him, there are moments of gentleness that laeve her scrambling to guard her heart. For Molly has promised herself never to make the mistakes of her mother, she will not get married. Molly is looking for her independence, but when her original plans fall through, she volunteers for the Pinkertons. She is working as a housekeeper to investigate Oliver Hawkins on his possibly murderous past.  Following her, Wyatt becomes Hawkins’s foreman. But as danger approaches, it is more at stake than they know and the family must band together.
I was so excited for this book! I had the opportunity to read the first two books and was waiting for Wyatt and Molly’s book! Molly had so much to her that we did not know about yet. She seemed really nice and had a lot of secrets. It is nice to finally hear her story and learn about her. She and Wyatt were really cute to read about. They were able to support one another, especially with the dangerous situation they found themselves in. It was cool how different each of the ladies in this series were, yet they all respected each other. Molly had a lot of domestic skills that allowed her to take the job to investigate. Wyatt was also very sweet. He was trying so hard to take care of everything that was happening and to protect Molly. The ranch was his home and where he wanted to be.
This story was very exciting! There were so many things that were finally revealed and it was cool to see some cameos from other series that I will not spoil. I liked the ending too, it felt like things were cleared up and tied up. There is some action, some light violence and reference to murder. Overall, I would recommend this to older teens and up. It is a clean historical fiction Christian book and the conclusion to a series.

This story was a joy to read! I had the hardest time putting it down, and loved every moment I spent reading it. Love on the Range is the third book in the Brother’s in Arms series, and having read the other two, I was dying to get my hands on this one! From the very beginning of this series I fell in love with all three brothers. Knowing I was going to get a story for each one actually made me a little giddy. Connealy has a way with characters that makes them so unique, still flawed, and yet easy to love.

This book follows Molly and Wyatt. Molly tends to take care of everyone, whether it’s cooking or doctoring. Since Wyatt was shot, taking care of him falls on her shoulders along with everything else. I loved getting to know both of these characters even more. Molly had some secrets that she carried, and she tended to see the world through that brokenness. The chemistry between her and Wyatt was undeniable, and all too fun to watch. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Historical Romance. Connealy mixes the perfect combination of Romance, Family, and Suspense. Danger lurks around every corner, it’s a good thing these brothers and their women all have each other. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

'Wyatt was sick of all this trouble. He wanted to go back to busting broncs and dodging angry bulls. That's the kind of peaceful, quiet life he loved.'

I am such a fan of Mary Connealy! She makes me laugh, she takes me on exciting adventures, and she never fails to challenge me with the powerful faith messages that are woven in her stories. Love on the Range is the third book in the Brothers in Arms series, and it gives the last Hunt brother his own chance to shine. Wyatt is hurt and needs taking care of, and who is better to do that than Molly Garner? Well, let me tell you, she proves that she's more than just the mild-mannered Molly who's cooked and cared for the household. This Molly has gumption and Wyatt gets to see it first-hand, when she decides that there's a life waiting outside this Hunt family.

What follows is a rip-roaring adventure filled with trouble, danger, twists and turns, but Connealy answers a lot of questions and offers readers a satisfying conclusion to this series. She shows that family love is powerful, even when that family unit doesn't fit the norm. If you enjoy cowboys, romance, family hi-jinks, and historical fiction, you need this book. Love on the Range is a keeper!

The first three chapters or so are a summary of what happened in previous books which I found a bit confusing since I had not read any of them.

There were a lot of characters and plot threads in Love on the Range and so it was difficult for me to keep them all straight. The romance was very mild as the main focus of this novel seemed to be tying up the plot lines that had started in the previous books.

There were some very bad men in this novel and I was glad to see them get their comeuppance. I admired the main characters who were determined to be better than their parents.

One of the major themes in Love on the Range is honoring your parent. The Characters each wrestled with how to do this while still honoring God.

The Hunt brothers and their wives were trying their best to be a family and I respected them for that because they had a rough past.

Love on the Range by Mary Connealy is the third book in the Brothers in Arms series. It's best to read them sequentially so that everything makes sense.

I received an advanced reader's copy from the publisher through NetGalley; a positive review was not required.

What a satisfying conclusion to Mary Connealy’s Brothers in Arms trilogy!
This story picks up at exactly the same point where book two left off. Wyatt is awake now and trying to figure out who shot him. Molly is caring for him, and tired of the thankless work she has to do around the ranch. She decides it’s time to spread her wings, and tries to leave. The rest of the family is taking care of outlaws and uncovering secrets galore.
As always, Mary’s books are filled with humour, exciting action scenes, and a loveable cast of characters. It was fun seeing the couples from the previous two books play significant roles in Molly and Wyatt’s story. And as well, there’s a surprising connection that I didn’t see coming (did I mention, I really like that when that happens?).
Avid fans of Mary’s work, will be delighted to see a character from a previous series make a cameo.
I highly recommend reading this series in order. Readers can still enjoy each book on its own, but will gain a better understanding of the dynamics between characters if books one and two are read first.
I love the author’s voice which always pulls me in from the first paragraph. I haven’t come across other books with a similar feel (quirky with a healthy dose of humour), and I look forward to reading whatever new series Mary Connealy is working on.

In this final book of the Brothers in Arms trilogy, Connealy focuses on the third and final brother, Wyatt, and Kevin's half-sister Molly. Wyatt and Molly are tied together as she helps him recover from a gunshot, while the rest of the Hunt clan attempt to discover who the traitorous cowhands are at their own and neighboring ranches. By a third of the way through, I felt myself losing interest. Once again, Molly sounded uncannily similar to Cheyenne and Win - the three women, and other minor female characters - are irritable, rude to their men, condescending, and often selfish. While the setting is done well, there are plot holes that I couldn't look past - for example, while Falcon is proved to be capable of reading and writing in A Man with a Past, he cannot in this third book. The mystery is somewhat unexpected, but I enjoyed the characters so little that I struggled to gain interest in the subplot of the mysterious happenings associated with Win's father's ranch. At perhaps another time, I might enjoy this light, easy read. However, entering into the story wanting a richer plot left me disappointed in the slow pacing and poor characterization. As an end note, despite not enjoying this last book, glimpses of Mary Connealy's writing skill are evident. Therefore, I'm looking forward to trying another of her works. Perhaps pressing deadlines or a poor editor made this series not as good as I could have been.

Wyatt finally at long last gets his story and my favorite book of this series!
A very nice ending to a great series!
Connealy writes the best stories! She pulls me in from beginning to end and this story will make you laugh, rejoice and fall in love with this amazing family.
I loved reading about each of the brothers and I especially enjoyed them because each brought something special to this series.
I loved reading about their adventures and really felt like I was a part of their family! Connealy has a way of doing that to her readers.
My favorite thing about Connealy is her humor. It's her trademark and I've loved it since I read The Husband Tree.
She's had me hooked ever since that book.
I can't wait to see what she comes out with next!
My thanks to Ms. Connealy and Bethany House for a copy of this book. All opinions are my own. I was NOT required to write a positive review.

What a great conclusion to the Hunt brothers’ story! I really enjoyed the resolution of the mystery and danger surrounding the RHR residents.
Wyatt and Molly had some trials to face, but their’s was a sweet romance.
Oh the family dynamic, the way all the brothers draw closer, the conversations they have, it’s all so good. I laughed out loud so many times.

Mary Connealy is one of my tried and true favorite western fiction writers. The way she writes her characters make you respect them, root for them, but also chuckle a little at their feistiness. I love the humor and sarcasm that is woven in that helps balance the intensity that often occurs while the hero, heroine, and their comrades are battling some big time baddies. There is also a thread of faith woven in the story, that I appreciate as one who loves Christian fiction.
In this third book in the Brothers in Arms series, the Hunt brothers, despite a rocky start in book one of the series, are learning to work together and depend on each other to figure out who is behind the acts of violence in their area. This series is a little different in that each book backtracks in time a little so that it focuses mostly on the perspective of each brother. Along with each brother, each lady in the "family" gets a turn sharing their perspective. It gave this series something special that I haven't read in Connealy's previous work.
I really enjoyed this series for the new aspects and the characterization that I know and love. I also appreciate that I don't have to wait forever for the pace to pick up...there's usually action right from the start. If you're a fan of a slow burn, there's a little of that, but I love that the author isn't shy about showing the fun and excitement of a fresh romance. If you're a fan of this genre, definitely go out and start from book one of this series!

As the conclusion of the "Brothers In Arms" series, Love on the Range was excellent. It nicely wrapped up the saga of the Hunt brothers in exciting and yet humorous storyline.

As always the author, Mary Connealy, writes in her enviable tongue-in-cheek humor realistic and sometimes bigger-than-life characters.

The background is Wyoming in the rough 1870s when men and women were tough, strong, and adventurous. They endure with nerves of steel injuries from falls, bullets, and fights bouncing back to ride again the hills and flatlands.

They corral cattle and horses as well as the meanest of mankind. It was a joyful conclusion and I just wonder if any of these strong, steadfast characters will put in appearances in future Mary Connealy books.

I'd been looking forward to Molly and Wyatt's story since I got the first inkling that they might be paired in Braced for Love. I was ready. I was pumped.

And I was mostly pleased with what I received. There were many lovely moments. Just like the other books in the series, Wyatt and Molly had to share the stage with several others while Connealy wrapped up the thread of suspense. I enjoyed their interactions. I just would have preferred more development in the beginning, which is completely a personal preference.

Overall, this read was a great way to wrap up the series. I love these characters!

So glad to have this one to read right after finishing book two of the series! Wyatt and Molly are just so much fun to watch as they circle each other, trying desperately to deny what everyone else can see. :) I do love a good banter and Ms. Connealy certainly knows how to write one! Mysteries still abound and several tense moments, of course, but I won’t deny I turned the pages for more Wyatt and Molly. It was also good to see their individual character growth, even as their relationship continued to grow closer. They were good for each other. Overall, this was a wonderful conclusion for the series and left me smiling as I closed the final pages.

Love on the Range is the last of Mary Connealy's Brothers in Arms series and it finishes this page-turning set of novels with a bang!

You'll see some of your familiar favorites from past series, the Hunt Brothers, in the book, but the main focus of the story is on Molly and Wyatt.

The storyline veers into seeking justice for some heinous acts of a person, gunfights, mixed with light and humorous moments, which Mary Connealy writes so very well.

I received this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post nor write a review.

First sentence: Molly Garner bent over Wyatt Hunt bathing his fevered brow. How many gunshots did a woman have to tend in one lifetime?

Love On the Range is the third book in Mary Connealy's Brother in Arms series. I've already reviewed Braced for Love and A Man with a Past. Each book is about a different brother--or half-brother if you want to be specific. Kevin Hunt, who starred in Braced for Love, fell in love with Win Hawkins, a neighbor and former school teacher. Falcon Hunt, who starred in book two, fell in love with his half-brother's half-sister, Cheyenne. Wyatt Hunt, who stars in book three, falls in love with his half-brother's half-sister, Molly. All three romances are of the INSTA love variety. All three books feature VIOLENCE predominantly. That is there is this UNKNOWN someone or group of someones that continually and persistently try to MURDER all the main characters. Each book will pretend to deal with the actual threat, but the next book will reveal that NOPE, the threat is still there so there's still another somebody involved in an even bigger plot. And since none of the villains have been fleshed out in books one and two, that makes some sense.

So in this one, Molly Garner, Kevin Hunt's half-sister, decides that since she can't teach (because her so-called bad reputation has followed her all the way to Wyoming territory), she'll try out being an unofficial, amateur, untrained "Pinkerton" agent. You know, as you do. With no training (but an amazing ability to make plentiful desserts every single day no matter how far away the closest store is) she'll get hired on as a housekeeper for a man they suspect is a serial killer. Again, you know AS YOU DO. Makes perfect sense, right? Have no qualifications? no training? No problem! Go live with a man you strongly suspect is a serial killer because you can always hit him over the head with a rolling pin.

Meanwhile, Molly and Wyatt aren't the only ones risking their lives. It seems the others are as well. They can't seem to go a few days without being shot at by somebody.

If the plot of the last book has you on borderline frustration in terms of suspending disbelief, this one may push you right off the cliff. It was hard not to get angry and frustrated with the characters. I did enjoy seeing Kevin and Win and Falcon and Cheyenne together. But overall, I would say the book has a very thin, weak, but super-action-packed plot with bare minimum characterization.

I have read Connealy's books in the past and not been this annoyed. So I think it is just this series.
