Mistress Black Sheep, bring your tools, Point your muzzle, for the world you’ll fool. Keep your hands steady and watch your back. Gather your sins using that deceitful tact. Sew your stitches with your deadly sight—a show in the day, a contract with the night.
Holly Honey is one of the leading fashion designers by day, but at night, she is anything but sweet. Her sharp eyes can take out her targets from a distance. Threading a needle is easy for her…no matter the tool. She has never questioned her jobs, until now when a familiar face appears on the other side of her scope. Why would anyone want Caleb gone? He’s probably the least dangerous person on the planet. Now, she has to save him and safeguard her heart at the same time. If anyone can design the perfect scheme, she can.
Welcome to Nursery Crimes, where tales are twisted and happily ever afters are not always guaranteed.
Maria Vickers is a bestselling and award-winning author who currently resides in St. Louis, MO with her pug, Spencer Tracy. She has always had a passion for writing and after she became disabled in 2010, she decided to use writing as her escape. Life is about what you make of it, you have to live it to the fullest no matter the circumstances.
From a young age, she has always loved books and even dreamed of being an author when she was younger. Growing up in the Navy, she used to weave tales for her siblings and her friends about anything and everything. And when she wasn't creating her own stories, she had a book in her hand. They transported her to another world. She hopes that her readers will have the same experience when reading her stories, and that, in some way, they can relate to her characters.
Getting sick changed her life forever, but it also opened doors for her that she thought would always be out of reach.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
I was so into this book! Our FMC is totally multifaceted. She is a world renowned fashion designer by day with huge success and a kickbutt assassin by night. The two contradictions are totally fascinating. After a successful show she takes a job that ends up being way too sketchy making her fell targeted. She has to figure out what is really going on quick, fast, and in a hurry. Full of danger and surprise twists you will find yourself at the end way to early wishing there was more. Makes for quite the fun read. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
I'm going to start out with this cover, I mean it is GORGEOUS & I can't stop looking at it to be honest. Designer Assassin is a short read with a very original premise & all kinds of #GIRLPOWER which I'm totally a sucker for. It can go either way whether I'll give a novella a perfect rating or not, but since I could have cried when I devoured every last page, I knew that any less than 5 stars was a no go from me. Holly & Elijah's story is explosive, and frankly, I NEED MORE OF THEM NOW (hint hint Maria Vickers). I'm not going to go on & on because you need to read it yourselves as you don't want to miss out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I keep finding these hidden gems and this is one of them that is in the nursery rhymes series. This was a quick read that kept me locked in seeing Holly and how she navigated her fashion design company and her side job replying to what people needed to be taken out. I loved Holly’s keen eye for detail when something was out of place.
I really enjoy how she carried things out with Elijah. I really want more of their story. This book had some twists and turns but it was enjoyable from start to finish.
I enjoyed this story. A quick read for those of us who love the Heels, Rhymes & Nursery Crimes books. The female heroine, is a fashion designer by day and an assassin by night. She’s grieving the death of her mentor, reminiscing about a lost lover and trying to figure out who is betraying her. The story has many twists and a little bit of romance.
I am so so glad that she was able to not live a life on the run due to being what she was... A deadly assassin, and I am also so glad for these short stories because they give you a good taste, awesome sex and a happily ever after sometimes even though it doesn't seem like it. So far they haven't left me hanging and I am thankful for it. I can't wait to read more in the: Heels, Rhymes & Nursery Crimes.
I truly wished this book was a full novel. I wanted more of Honey and Elijah. I loved this storyline. It is unique, which prompted me to one click when I read the blurb. I highly recommend this book
What a fun book to read! I so enjoyed it. So many twists and turns. Kept me on my toes. Iv can be wait to read more books in the series as well as more books by this author.
Loved, loved, loved this book. The plot is clever and unusual with some great twists and turns. As ever, Ms Vickers has written a cast of characters who pop out of the page and this cover is sublime. Easy 5 stars!
I really enjoyed this little novella in the nursery rhyme series. Holly’s story may have been short but I felt we really got to know her and her side characters.
