For Adela Jenks, the lure of England and time away with her closest friends is a much-needed escape. Her hectic life as a gourmet chef and a string of failed relationships has left her disheartened. She longs for a simpler time of manor houses, nobility, and the romance of courtship, for history to come alive. But she never expected to be thrust into the past with her friends while in the rural village of Stanton Wake.
In 1666, Lord Marcus DeGrey desires to live a quiet life at the newly renovated country manor that he inherited in ruin. He longs to raise his young daughter away from the London society that threatens to devour him and the secrets he must protect.
But life in the seventeenth century is perilous in an era rife with plague, political unrest after civil war, and a looming disaster. The women struggle as servants, their modern-day independence colliding with propriety and romance. When their attempts to return home fail, they must seek to discover God’s purpose for sending them through time.

Three women lost in time. Why does God place them in a time far from their own? What purpose does it serve? Adela, Kellie, and Leeanne could loose more than the comfort of the 21st century. What of their hearts? I love the role of an older woman as a mentor, mother-figure, and friend to younger women. Her wisdom and maturity anchor the characters who are catapulted into a challenging, surreal century. It made me question what I would be willing to live without. What 21st century items are a must? Medicine, cell phones, plumbing, travel? Would relationships, love, and purpose be enough? I look forward to whatever Carole writes next.
I love time travel novels. The flow of this story was seamless. The characters held your interest as did the story line. My favorite character was Mrs. Henshaw. She easily accepted people for who they were and was always ready and willing to offer advice or assistance. She also had a way of making sure things got done in a timely manner. This book has multiple storylines but they flow together well and keep the story moving. I recommend this novel to anyone who likes time travel stories and a good clean novel.
A wonderful time travel story set at a beautiful manor house in 17th century England! I was thrown into this world alongside Adela, Kellie and Leanne and all the romance and intrigue that awaits them.
Great writing & imagery. Fantastic historical depth. Flawed, honest characters who must seek God’s guidance and grace. And that ending. Loved it! Another enjoyable novel from Carole Lehr Johnson.
Carole Lehr Johnson has done it again. I so enjoyed A Place in Time. Marcus and Adela’s love story is a seesaw of emotions as she tries to come to grips with traveling 350 years into the past to find her heart.
Johnson’s accurate historical details sprinkled with the humorous antics of her two sidekicks from present time bring us a story we’ll be talking and laughing about for years. The characters are three dimensional and become friends you’ll want to visit again by the last page.
If you are looking for a read that will transport you to the English countryside to a time that was simpler than today’s frantic rush we live in, this is the book for you. Get ready for a relaxing read. Great job, Carole. Awaiting the next one with great anticipation!
2.5 stars. Unfortunately, there is one glaring plot hole in this engagingly written book. The overt Christianity in it doesn't particularly bother me - we all find different ways of writing about our beliefs and faiths, and it's not a particularly bible-thumping tone. In its essence, the book is escapist fluff, and I'm glad the story has no sequel, and not because of the plot hole but because it's a complete story. But that plot hole...
3.5 stars. I really loved the characters in this but I hadn’t realised it was Christian fiction which is a not a genre for me. It did effect my rating slightly but it’s still an enjoyable story.
AN AMAZING TIME IN TIME, What e friends do when they find themselves thrust back in time to a very different way of life and living for them to try to live amongst the people of that time. The 3 friends seem to manage fine and read on for the trials and tribulations they go through and what happens when they figure out how to go home to their own time…. THIS IS A MUST READ, & A NEW AUTHOR FOR ME TO CHECK OUT AND LOOK INTO HER OTHER BOOKS SHE HAS WRITTEN.
This is an enjoyable Christian book. The author does a good job of showing what our sin nature desires and how we give in to it. She also shows how our new nature overcomes it and how we grow in faith. The characters are The story grabs hold of you instantly and doesn't let go. The only negative thing about the book is that it ends.
I am not a huge fan of time travel books but this one was interesting with some engaging characters. Three women from today are visiting England and staying in a cottage when suddenly they find themselves in the same cottage but in the 1600s. They find it hard to fit in and fear doing or saying something that will get them burned at the stake. Into their lives come three men and two children, who steal their hearts. How are they going to get back to present day? How can they hide who they are until they can do that? No sex or profanity. An enjoyable read with a not altogether predictable ending.
I guess I didn't research this better before I began. I love time travel stories. And, well, this had a taste of that as our characters do go back in time. But, much to my surprise this is actually a ROMANCE book. Three women (swooning and falling over too many times) and three men. So, a triple romance book. With God too.
The title Finding Home: A Time Travel Historical Adventure is incorrect. It SHOULD read: Finding Home: A Time Travel Romance
I really like how the author started out with a seventeenth century pageant and then the girls actually ended up there. It was interesting to see how people lived back then. So many inconveniences! But people basically don't change no matter what century they happen to live in. I would recommend this novel to anyone who is interested in time travel or just a great romance story.
A well written novel. This book was engaging and original. An engaging, clean story honoring God. The message of forgiveness, duty and second chances was well conveyed.
I recommend it to anyone who loves a clean story with references to the Bible and God.
Definitely enjoyed this story. Struggled to engage initially, but was compelled to know how the tale ended. Well worth the effort. All characters were solid and appealing, strong relationships and clean romance contributed to a heartfelt joy at the end. Well done!
This has been a time travel book a little different from others I've read. The reason by am only giving it four stars is because of the bad grammar in a number of places. Not 17the century grammar, no 21at century grammar that the proofreader missed.
Wow! What a journey! I loved this book. The details of England 350 years past, the struggles the three women had adapting to that time and trying to not fall in love with the special men they met. The twist at the end was quite a surprise. This is a great read!
The description of the time was good. The way of life in that time. The social differences in staff and titled was hard. I was disappointed in the end. It ended so fast, and really didn't tell enough about the other characters.
Historical, suspenseful, inspirational, and sweetly humorous - the genre I love! When you read about time travel, you have to sort of suspend reality, yet the scenes and historical events painted by this author were very real. I look forward to more novels in the near future!
I liked the story for the most part, but it was lacking. Lacking decent back stories. Terrible dialog between characters. Clunky wording. And the writing was just shallow. Needed more details. It could have been great. But it wasn't.
This book gives all the emotions that make a book great. It introduces you to all possible things that can happen. It was a bit predictable but in the end left you feeling great knowing you weren't as clever as you thought. Highly recommend
Could hardly put this book down. Great characters. Time travel is not usually my genre, nor obviously religious stories. But this book did not over emphasize either, but presented a really good story woven through with great history of a time long ago.
I forget who recommended this book to me, but I really enjoyed it. Johnson does a good job on the time travel, the contrast of life 300 years ago and now, the romance, and the emphasis on God being the one in control of time. I had a hard time putting the book down.
A neat time travel story of 3 women who are thrust back in time. God has sent them for a reason. Well several reasons, they all eventually find the love of their lives, but there are also some other reasons. Lovely novel and I enjoyed it greatly!
This book is wonderful. It’s wholesome and interesting and charming. I always enjoy time travel novels and marvel at the ideas people have on how it’s possible to do so.
