Soul of Eon

Rate this book
The last thing she expects is an instant mating with a handsome alien warrior…just before they are abducted by the deadly Kantos.

Commander Kaira Chand of the Australian Air Force knows the meaning of loss. She lost both her beloved husband and her father over recent years, and she vows never to let a man close again. As head of security for a secret weapons facility in the Australian desert, she’s fighting to protect the scientists working to defend Earth from invasion. That includes working with their allies, the Eon Warriors. What she never expected in her wildest dreams was to find herself instantly mated to a handsome, silver fox alien warrior.

Medical Commander Thane Kann-Eon lives to heal. He’s dedicated to keeping his crew aboard the warship, the Rengard, whole and healthy. Unlike his fellow warriors, he knows he’ll never mate. There hasn’t been a mating in his family for generations. Then a petite Terran commander changes everything. He’s instantly drawn to Kaira, and as soon as their hands touch, he’s stunned by the deluge of emotion that crashes over him. An unheard-of instant mating.

In the midst of their shocking connection, Kaira and Thane find themselves abducted by a Kantos strike team. Taken aboard a battlecruiser, they soon realize the insectoid aliens nabbed the wrong couple, and they are marked for execution. Now they face a wild race for survival that will take them to a distant, deadly world. They’ll both struggle with their raw, intense mating bond, against the backdrop of a Kantos proving ground where everything is out to kill them.

It was a joy to revisit this series, and I found myself just as captivated as before, enjoying every exciting moment again.

I truly enjoy how Anna skillfully tells stories in different genres, engaging readers and drawing them into well-developed worlds. After reading many of her books, I can say that each one has been a pleasure.

Soul of Eon is the eighth book in the exciting Eon Warriors series, and it offers an engaging Sci-Fi romance that keeps you hooked.

In this story, the Kantos are sabotaging their ships and helions, which threatens the alliance between different species. This leads to a gripping saga full of surprises and high-stakes drama, taking the characters—and readers—on a thrilling journey.

Getting mated and abducted within minutes makes things a little difficult to get to know the person on the other side of the mating bond. On both ends, mind you. While Thane might be a tiny bit more willing to go with the flow (as it were), even he's caught off guard by how quickly their mate bond snapped into place. Like I mentioned, throw in an abduction moments later and things are a little rough for our newest couple.

Not that it stops them from kicking Kantos booty when the opportunity presents itself. Nor does it stop them from surviving on a planet where everything seems to want to kill them. It also doesn't stop them from finding new allies. Or from finding alone time amongst said allies and that planet that wants to kill them.

Yup, Kaira and Thane are a good team. Sure, Kaira isn't interested in trusting anyone with her heart again (for reasons) and Thane is determined to withstand the mating bond since she's not interested being his one and only, but they end up solid and that's what matters.

A dangerous planet, new allies of all shapes and sizes, steamy kisses, and new info that might help them bring down the Kantos. Eventually. Regardless, thwarting a dastardly plot to weaken the Eon Warriors is always a good thing. *thumbs up*

Will she push him away when he shows at every turn he is a keeper ...

After the ending of the last book, I was left on edge!
Wow an instant mating and a kidnapping...
Kaira lost her husband and her father, since she closed her heart to any emotional entanglement, never again does she wants to feel again this deep despair and loneliness left to endure to those surviving.
Thane is a warrior and a healer, and like all eons, he longs for his own mate all along believing it is no for him due to his family’s history.
So when they are struck by the mating bond, his heart nearly leap out of his ribcage when she just wants to run away.
Together they are in for a rollercoaster ride dodging Kantos attacks, fighting their attraction all the while looking for a way out of the deadly trap they are stuck in!

And while the story standalone, for this one, I would recommend to read the previous book Storm of Eon for a bit more details.

And the ending giving a glimpse of the next book, oh my!
King Gayel is like Anthony Bridgerton, he knows how to keep us in suspense...

‘Soul of Eon’ admittedly didn’t start off too well for me, even though I really wanted Kaira’s story and the tragedy that she’d personally overcome, only that there was instalove happening from the get-go with an inexplicable mating with the Eon medical commander.

But things do get a little interesting as I grudgingly read on: it’s a mating that Kaira is entirely uninterested in while Thane fights off his own urge to complete the mating bond, given how much Kaira’s heart had been bruised in the last few years.

It’s the trials and obstacles they face—short and intense—that bring them together, but what I really wanted was to read about Kaira’s eventual change of heart in a way that delved into depth, emotions and feel with perhaps, even a little more angst. That's not really Hackett’s style and focus in all her books though and this rather quick turnaround (with the implication on falling in love because of the non-stop back-to-the-wall scenarios they face coming through too stronly) just proved too disappointing here.

The advantage of writing a story that takes place entirely off-world is that Hackett’s imagination runs free here, manifesting in the weird and breathless adventures both Kaira and Thane have as they run from one grotesque alien after another intent on killing them. There are some twists and turns here, using the classic ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’ trope which kept me glued and with each layer getting added on, perhaps there’s really something I can look forward to in this series after all.

This is everything I wanted ! Yes I have niggles but honestly this book gave me happiness, hope and what I've been begging for ! This has romance that's steamy but the pace makes absolute sense. Action and adventures with allies I could never predict. I do love this authors imagination and usually it loses a half mark because I'm never terribly convinced by ahem flame throwers but THIS book if I'm honest having finished I just don't care about logic. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the Kantos revelations mean this series is definitely moving forward. Plus if you ever read my reviews you know there is one character I am desperate to know more about and I'm honestly squealing and possibly even jumping up and down right now. I have loved seeing the strong Eon medic finally get his happy ending, plus having met Kaira in the last book my heart truly went out to her so I'm over the moon that she got such a strong, kick ass story. I do enjoy this series and look forward to reading more.
This voluntary take is of an advanced copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

An interesting twist with this one. Main couple went through an instant mating. Meaning they saw each other for the first time, and when they shook hands, they both immediately fell into a mating. The problem is that Kaira is recently widowed and not looking to ever fall in love again. The second problem is that the two are immediately kidnapped by the Kantos and spend the entire book in forced proximity having to rely on each other for survival. And poor Thane has to deal with the mating fever coming on strong when his mate doesn’t exactly want a mate. The two are helped out along the way by a couple of groups of surprising allies. And as we lead into the final book, hopefully they also discovered a couple of things that can help them defeat their enemies once and for all.

Overall, the book has the same vibe and feel as the other books, with our main pair having to fight together to survive. But in this one, even though they mated immediately, there really wasn’t much time for them to fall in love. There really wasn’t time to see their chemistry. And I still maintain that the girl from this book has more chemistry with the guy from the last book. So even though this book gave us a little something different than the other books, I didn’t quite get the connection between the main couple.

UPDATE ~ 3.5 Stars. An enjoyable enough read (reread) but not my favorite in the series.

1= dnf/What was that?; 2= Nope, not for me; 3= This was okay/cute; 3.5= I mostly ENJOYED THIS; 4= I liked it a lot; 5= I Loved it, it was great! (I seldom give 5 Stars).

I recently purchased several audiobooks in the EON warriors series and so am listening and rereading through the series again. This series does contain more detailed sexy scenes than I prefer which I generally skim past (and I’ve discovered is easier to do reading than listening). For this reason only, I think I prefer reading these books rather than listening to this series. I appreciate that SOUL OF EON’s new book cover accurately portrays the main male character as a “Silver Fox” (the previous cover did not) - since he is supposed to be a seasoned warrior who has greyed prematurely.

ORIGINAL POST ~
MY RATING GUIDE for SOUL OF EON: 3.5 Stars. I enjoyed the action scenes although at times the dialogue and/or the romance scenes seemed odd or goofy (IC scenes). I have enjoyed this series but SOUL OF EON wasn’t among my favorite.

SOUL OF EON~
For the past week or more, Australian Commander Kaira Chand/FMC, in charge of security for Australia’s remote Air Force facility and widow of 2yrs, has been working alongside selected EON Empire experts upgrading earth defenses. During a brief celebratory moment, Commdr Chang and visiting EON warship Medical Commdr Thane Kann-Eon/MMC are suddenly ambushed by Kantos raiding soldiers, then abducted to a Kantos airship. As captives, Commdr Chang and Commdr Thane must combine their efforts to survive, collect information and then escape - even while isolated far, far from resources.

SOUL OF EON is book #8 in Anna Hackett’s EON WARRIORS series. The tone in the EON Warrior series is light rather than dark. Hackett’s male and female characters are strong, resilient, loyal and brave. The settings are imaginative, the action moves quickly and I seldom get bored. I purchased the other books in the EON WARRIORS series and look forward to reading the last book soon.

SOUL OF EON can be read as a standalone title (with no cliffhanger ending) however an over-reaching story arc, which began in bk#1, continues throughout the series - plus book #1 is particularly fun. Readers who enjoy Action-Adventure Space Opera Romance but are unfamiliar with Anna Hackett novels may wish to check out the Eon Warriors series (think Original Star Trek/Next Gen or SG-1 with added steamy scenes & strong language).

READER CAUTIONS - Not recommended to readers who prefer Clean fiction.
VIOLENCE - Sci-fi PG/PG-13. Think Original Star Trek.
PROFANITY - Yes. Strong language is used.
SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Yes. Scenes of on-screen intimacy occur on several occasions.

Soul of Eon begins in the immediate aftermath of Storm of Eon. As Storm of Eon ends, Kaira and Thane experience an incredibly rare instant mating when the Kantos invade and kidnap them both.

This series is probably best read in order, starting from Edge of Eon. A LOT has happened in the series. Where once the Terrans and the Eons were distantly neutral with each other, but by this time they have united against their common enemy; the Kantos.

There is an element of “fated mates” in this series and it works. Even though these two are mates they don’t indulge for quite a while. Why? They are kidnapped and have to survive on a planet filled with predatory flora and fauna, evade the Kantos who are using them as a deadly training exercises, and invade a highly secured base where they have a chance of contacting an Eon warship in time to save them and the allies they unexpected make.

Soul of Eon was an action packed sci-fi romance read. I have enjoyed every novel in the Eon Warriors series. I’ve also re-read the first 4 books a few times.

This can be read as a stand-alone, but it is even more enjoyable when the series is read in order. There is action, aliens, humor, twists, space travel, and romance. Kaira and Thane are awesome characters that you quickly fall in love with. They face a lot of challenges and meet some interesting characters along the way. More details about the Kantos are revealed. The next book in the series will feature King Gayel and I can’t wait to see who he is paired with!

Soul of Eon begins in the immediate aftermath of the previous book in this series, the awesome Storm of Eon. Literally. As that story ends, Kaira and Thane experience an incredibly rare instant mating when the Kantos invade and kidnap them both.

There’s a lot to unpack in that description, now that I think about it. Which first leads to saying that this series is probably best read in order, starting from Edge of Eon. A LOT has happened since Eve kidnapped Davion! I’m not sure you’d have to read every single one to get everything in Soul of Eon, but the series is so good!

Where once the Terrans and the Eons were distantly neutral with each other, by the time that Soul of Eon takes place they have united against their common enemy, the insectoid Kantos. It’s not just that the two planets and peoples have come together to face a common foe, in the sense that “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”, but there have been plenty of personal “comings” together as several of the Eon warriors have discovered their mates among the Terrans – to everyone’s complete surprise.

There is an element of “fated mates” in this aspect of the story, along with a bit of the “Mars needs women” trope, but it works pretty well here. It certainly seems like the Terran half of the eventual couple can decide not to pursue the relationship – as Kaira does for a good chunk of Soul of Eon.

Eons are only fertile with their mates, so there’s a whole lot more at stake on their side of the equation but even then, it usually takes a while for the Eon of the couple to figure out that more is happening than just ordinary attraction.

So what Kaira and Thane experience as the story opens – technically as the previous story closed – is that they become instantly aware that they are fated mates. Not that they actually indulge in the sexual aspects of their bond right then and there. Because reasons – and they’re in public! At a party! With his boss!

Which turns out to be a good thing when the Kantos show up. Talk about the potential for an epic case of coitus interruptus!

It’s only after the Kantos, with Kaira and Thane their prisoners, take flight to return to the Kantos fleet that their captors realize that they have kidnapped the wrong couple. The Kantos are planning to “kill the spares” when fate intervenes.

All that Kaira and Thane have to do is survive on a planet filled with predatory flora and fauna, evade the juvenile Kantos who are using them, and each other, as deadly training exercises, and invade a highly secured base where they might possibly have a chance of contacting an Eon warship in time to save their asses – along with the asses of their very unexpected allies.

All in a day’s work for an Eon warrior and his reluctant would-be Terran mate!

Escape Rating B: I have enjoyed every entry in this and pretty much every single one of this author’s series, and Soul of Eon is no exception to that rule. And it can certainly be said that I had a much better time reading Kaira’s and Thane’s adventure than they had escaping from the Kantos during those same adventures!

For this reader, however, this was one of the books in this series that was a lovely reading time but wasn’t special in the way that Storm of Eon and some of the earlier entries in the series were.

Part of that has to do with the characters. I liked Kaira and Thane, but they didn’t stand out for me the way that Finley did in Storm. That being said, I did find it very interesting that Kaira was a widow, and that the reason she initially didn’t want to pursue the mating bond with Thane was that she just wasn’t ready to put her heart on the line again.

But she just didn’t stand out – or up considering Finley’s height – the way that Finley did.

The other thing about this story was that I kept having the feeling that I’d read it before – or at least I’d read something very similar before. I keep thinking that there was another story by this author that had similar elements – the part about the planet itself being out to get them – but the story I know this reminds me of is The Magic Mountains by Alexis Glynn Latner from the Pets in Space 4 Sampler. I’ll admit that this niggled at me a lot, to the point where my attempts to chase down the recollection took me out of the story.

Very much on my other hand, Soul of Eon provided some fascinating revelations about the Kantos, along with a marvelously effective bunch of Kantos rebels who have been mounting quite the effective resistance. And along with that bit of intel, we have a lovely teaser for the next book in the series, King of Eon. In order to cement the alliance between Eon and Terra, the King himself is planning to look for a wife among the Terrans. It’s pretty clear that he thinks he’s going to make a state marriage of convenience.

I’m pretty sure that his plans are not going to survive contact with whoever turns out to be his fated mate. I always love the story in each series where the leader gets setup to take the fall into love, so I’m really looking forward to this one!

Only made it to 42%. Was bored and couldn’t connect with the selfish heroine.

⚠️ There might be spoilers ⚠️
Only made it to 42%. Was bored and couldn’t connect with the selfish heroine.
I feel for Kaira I do but I couldn’t connect with her and found her attitude towards Thane both selfish and shallow.
Now if I remember correctly ( which isn’t easy because I was only a few chapters in when became a real slog for me and was having a difficult time forcing myself to continue) Kaira was only married about two years and she’d lost her husband 18 months to two years ago. She didn’t have him long, and he’s been gone almost as long as she had him and she seems somewhere between 25-30.
So she didn’t have him long and she’s still a rather young woman but
But she doesn’t even wanna consider Thane as a mate even though an EON warrior finding a mate is so,rare it’s between slim and none ,they only get one ,ONE true mate and Thane’s family hasn’t has a true mating in generations. Which is probably 100’s of years. But she doesn’t wanna Rick her heart again.
Doesn’t even wanna consider it. Even though their mating is soo special it’s instantaneous. She’s the ONLY “mate” for him,but NO.
She’ll happily risk her life for anyone and everyone but not her heart. No,never that.
Bull hockey!
That’s soo selfish and so,wrong!
Thane is so sweet and kind though he just goes along with it even though he’s waited his whole life for this ,believing would never happen for him.
That’s so shitty.
How on earth can I like or connect a heifer like that .she’ll drool over his muscular body ,get possessive I’d any female give him a second look but doesn’t even wanna consider making him hers.
She’ll get horny one minute and be all over him but either the thought of commitment or the Kantos have her scrambling away.
I know there has to be a stumbling block or two in a romance but this ? A selfish human woman after of risking her emotional heart while she is constantly richly her life and her body, just doesn’t work for me . It’s cowardly . And just a touch cruel know what’s the make she claims to respect is going thru.
Add that to them never getting to truly rest or have a good deep and meaningful conversation because they’re in a near constant fight just to stay alive and I can’t relate.
I just don’t buy the I’m fearless with my life, willing to die at a moments notice but my heart is completely and utterly off-limits?
Yeah. No!
Thane is too nice and relaxed over something that must be breaking his heart. No, he just tells us how awesome she is even though she’s so selfish with him.
Anna is awesome ! This just doesn’t work for me .

Commander Kaira Chand of the Australian Air Force is totally devoted to her work, since she lost both her husband and her father in the past few years. She’s wary of trusting her heart to anyone, so work is her focus. Medical Commander Thane Kann-Eon is a healer from a family that seems to be cursed with an inability to find and keep mates, so he has accepted that he will never mate.

When these two meet during a celebration for others, they are instantly drawn together. As a result, they discover that they have been instantly mated, in spite of not really knowing each other at all. Kaira rejects this situation, while Thane accepts that he will never force it, and figures that’s just another part of the curse. Around this time, they are mistakenly abducted and taken to a Kantos ship, where they have to work together to survive. This allows them to see and admire the strength and the courage to be found in each other. They also discover that they work really well as a team. Along the way, they discover friends and allies in unlikely places.

Buckle up, because the story takes off quickly, and doesn’t relent. The pacing is fast, and the adventures and dangers don’t take many breaks. The tension goes ‘off-the-charts’ at times, and this reader had to put this book down a couple of times—just to take a recovery breath or two. Both of these protagonists are honorable, likable, and capable. In spite of having just met each other, they are both willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that their mate survives and escapes, regardless of their own fate. This story includes some fresh, new and exciting elements that haven’t been explored yet in prior books of this Eon series, which elevates it. So readers can expect lots of Kantos death and destruction, fights, gross creatures, near-fatal attacks on one or both protagonists, and just-in-the-nick-of-time help, but readers will also find some delightfully new twists thrown in. It all adds up to a fantastic read. This is a series, so it’s best to read the series in order, but if you do pick this book up and read it out of order, be prepared to want to read the whole series!

So so good ! Will leave you wanting an Eon warrior of your vet own 💖

As always Anna Hackett has delivered another fantastic action packed passion filled romance. One of the things he that always makes me come back for more with her books are the incredible characters who work their way I to my heart and make me cheer them on from the first page to the last! Kaira and Thane are electric from the first pages. They minute they meet instantaneous mating occurs. They are kidnapped a d teller on a deadly trading planet for kantos juvenile soldiers. Almost everything is out to kill them. Kaira is a commanding the Australian and force and a damn good soldier. But she's lost both her father and her husband in the fight with the invading Kantos. She's afraid to become attached and love again. Thane is the medical commander on the Reguard. All he has ever wanted is a mate but knows it is nothing he can ever have. That is until the unheard of happens when he meets Kaira and they are abducted. As danger surrounds them With only Each other to rely on the last and all the reasons why they can't don't seem to matter when they realize that what they share is beyond passionate embraces but a true partnership grounded in trust and love. This boom furthers the story and sets everything in place for the first so one in this arc. It's funny just like my favorite soldiers from hell squad these Eon warriors and their mates feel like old friends that I hope we'll continue us too see in future stories. Highly recommend true terrific read💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

Series: Eon Warriors #8
Rating: 4 stars - It was really good

The last thing Commander Kaira Chand of the Australian Air Force expects is to instantly mate with the handsome alien warrior, Medical Commander Thane Kann-Eon, right before they are abducted by the deadly Kantos. Now these two have to work together to escape from the Kantos and stop them from unleashing a deadly new weapon against the Eon, while dealing with their mating.

This book was an action packed adventure from the very first chapter. Kaira is a strong and fierce heroine, who I instantly fell in love with. Because of the loss of her husband and father, she is terrified of risking her heart again but Thane slowly worms his way in. Kaira was just a great heroine who has had a heartbreaking few years.

Thane is a healer who never expected to find his mate. He realizes how special Kaira is from the beginning but doesn’t push her to accept the mating. He was even willing to let Kaira leave if she decided she didn’t want to complete the mating. Thane was a surprisingly sweet and gentle warrior. I loved that this fated mating didn’t mean instant love. They both were surprised by the mating and their feelings came with the more they learned about each other.

In this book we also find out more about the Kantos and why they are so aggressive at taking over everything, which was quite fascinating. They also have a new weapon that is imperative that is stopped. I can’t wait to read the next book to find out how they deal with the Kantos new threat. Also the next book is with King Gayel which I can’t wait for! I am so excited to learn more about the king of the Eon.

EXHILARATING-SUSPENSE-ACTION-FIERY, PASSIONATE ROMANCE

“Soul Of Eon” is a whirlwind of non-stop action, suspense that catches your attention, dreadful danger, deep felt desires, fiery-hot passionate romance, and an awesome happy forever. An unstoppable read for me until the last page.

Indpendent Commander Kaira Chand of the Australian Air Force has sworn to never fall in love again. Charismatic Medical Commander Thane Kann-Eon’s priority is to keep the warriors aboard the spaceship Rengard physically fit and healthy. These two meet at a celebration party on earth and an instant unheard mating begins with one sensual kiss. The evil Kantos who want to destroy earth and Eons abduct them. While fighting these grotesque monsters to remain alive, they begin a friendship. Before they reach their happy forever, they face a massive amount of life-threatening issues.

Exhilarating well-written read with fantastic character interaction and dynamic, vivid scene descriptions. A great storyline that piques your interest to learn what happens next. Backstories give the reader a better understanding of their personas. Kaira is a risk-taker and shows her ability not to give into fear; a worthy mate for the powerful Thane. Their romance is genuine and are perfect together. The author shows how new love heals loss. Relishing this story, I voluntarily reviewed a pre-release copy via the author.

This is book 8 of the Eon Warriors series; and it picks up right where the last one ended. Kaira and Thane meet at the end of the previous book. If you haven't read that book yet, then you can still read this as a standalone, but I recommend you go to the authors website to read the excerpt that shows how Kaira and Thane meet and become mates at first sight.

Thane thought that he would never find a mate, and had never heard of an Eon Warrior mating at first sight; but he knows that it's happened to him after he meets Kaira. Then in the midst of their shocking connection, Kaira and Thane find themselves abducted by Kantos. They are taken aboard a battlecruiser where they try to escape. But they are recaptured and sent to a dangerous planet where they will be hunted by juvenile Kantos, who are in training.

However, the Kantos aren't the only deadly things on this planet. Even the trees and grass can be dangerous here. Amidst trying to survive and find a way to contact the other Eon Warriors they also have to deal with the mating fever hitting them. There's a few other surprises on this adventure, including some unexpected allies. This is definitely a must read if you are a fan of the Eon Warrior series. It's a wonderful fast paced romantic adventure that I highly recommend.

I was given an ARC of this book, but am voluntarily giving my honest review.

Kaira and Thane

This book begins right after book 7 leaves, off... and you really need to read the series in order, as it is a continuity with an overarching background story that flows through them all.

Kaira and Thane find themselves the unwilling guests of the Kantos, on a Kantos training world.
Fighting their way to freedom is a whole lot easier to say than do, and on the way they have numerous perils to navigate... like mating fever, alien monsters and more!

The penultimate book in the series starts with a bang after the cliffhanger at the end of the last book. Kaira is a widow, who is a little reluctant to dip her feet back into the dating pool, and an instant mating isn’t exactly something she wanted.
Thane never believed he would have a mate, so this silver fox will do anything to keep his mate safe. Their kidnapping at the hand of the Kantos may have been a mistake, but it throws them together.

As with the rest of the Eon books, this one has lots of action, alien enemies, and a few alien friends. There are also some huge developments as far as the war against the Kantos are concerned.

If you’re a sci-fi romance lover, or an Anna Hackett fan, then you’ll enjoy this latest journey with the Eon warriors!

OOOOOOOOOh I love me some Eon Warriors! And this time around we have a silver-fox of Warrior Healer and an emotionally fragile Warrior, still getting to grips with widowhood.

Kaira lost her husband in the war with the Kantos. She refuses to open herself to any more emotional damage. She'll do her job, interact with friends, but no more entanglements. Well, someone forgot to tell the Eon bond that. She only meets Thane at Fin and her warrior's wedding and BAM. Instant bond - but worse than that the Kantos strike and abduct her and Thane!

Thane has been an itty-bitty bit jealous of all these lucky warriors - even when he ha spouted for all t hear that he doesn't want a mate. Yeah, well karma has arrived and she's Eon kicking butt!

With abductions, stupendous escapes. unlikely but valuable allies (x2 on the same planet - lucky ducks), this intrepid duo are in for a whirlwind of action, romance and danger. The final (booooooo) story is all set up now - a certain Gayel is going down people! But with all that planning and being so political, you just know it's all going to go pear-shaped!!!

I just don't think that Anna Hackett know how to write a bad book, I certainly haven't read one that's for sure. Ms. Hackett knows just how to grab onto her readers from the 1st page to the last with her amazing storytelling and world building. Then proceeds to take you on one hell of a roller coaster ride, so be prepared to hang on tight. Her characters are so delightful that you can't help cheer for their happily ever after. Thane and Kaira are captured by the Kantos and have to fight for their lives as well as dealing with an instant mating, which is unheard of. Kaira was previously married, her husband died, therefore not interested in being mated. This story has everything that you could want; comedy, action, drama, danger, joy, angst and of course hot, hot romance (it is an Anna Hackett book after all). This absolutely fantastic book is the 8th book in the Eon Warriors series and you really don't want to miss this one; as well as the others in this awesome series! I received a free copy of this book from Bookfunnel and am voluntarily doing a review.

Against all odds action romance

Soul of Eon is a huge addition to the Eon series. We learn so much about the evil alien Kantos in this story. Now real strategies can be forged to eradicate these killers.
Wouldn’t it be horrible to go into your mating frenzy at the same time you’re captured, kidnapped, and tortured? Well, that’s what happened to the stoic Renguard’s Medical Commander, Thane Kann Eon. He just met his mate, Terran Kaira Chand, a Commander in the Australian Air Force, the sparks flare then b-a-m… the Kantos steal them away. Thane and Kaira are tough and super smart so they have a chance to escape. In their fight for freedom, on a very hostile planet, they meet Lennar, leader of the warriors that protect the underground Mollia peoples. These peoples are really laid back. Continuing their journey they meet a defective group of warriors lead by Nisid. This species is not known for "good" and their offer of help is a complete surprise that gives the Eon and Terran hope. This is a GREAT story. I read free for an honest review. Linda

Instant matings are unheard, but that is exactly what happens with Thane and Kaira. But then they are instantly abducted by the Kantos. What follows is their fight for survival, to get in touch with their people, and to escape. All the while dealing with the mating fever, Kantos attacks, and a planets ecosystem that basically attacks them. With every Eon Warriors book, we are guaranteed steam and action, and Anna Hackett doesn't disappoint with Thane and Kaira. We have the typical small amounts of push and pull between the characters and the fight against the mating. Which is always a realistically done process in these books. Yes, the idea behind the books itself is for mere entertainment, but the way that Hackett creates these worlds in the sky is brilliantly and seamlessly done. So while the story itself is out there, the characters and their actions/relationships are organically written and worked out. We are still int he throes of the Kantos' attacks, and aren't quite finished yet. Book 9 is yet to come!

Imaginative series, this book a great addition

Anna Hackett is an extremely gifted author whose various series are based in detailed, complex universes. The Eon Warriors series is no exception with the Eon and Terran (Earthling) united allies against their evil insectoid enemies the Kantos.
As with all other novels in this series, Hackett is able to bring new and fresh details to Soul of Eon. A dedicated Eon doctor/warrior finds himself instantly mated to a steadfast Australian security chief, who is definitely not looking for love, just before they are abducted by the Kantos. The rest of the book is a wild trip through captivity and then their desperate attempts at eluding the bugs and the flora and fauna on a planet finding surprise allies along the way. All the while the pair try to come to terms with their new unexpected relationship. It's a suspenseful, sexy journey full of adventure.

another exciting and imaginative venture

Medical Commander Thane Kann-Eon and Commander Kaira Chand were the anxious and the unwilling when they instant mated. But before they can discuss it rationally, they are kidnapped by a Kantos strike team. The Kantos thought they had the pregnant Ambassador Eve and her Commander Dav. Now marked for execution they face what the connection between them means and struggle to find a way back to the Rengard. Thane who never though he’d mate is too happy but understands that Kaira is scarred by the loss of her father and husband. She is shut off until the blast of feelings hit her when she is around Thane. There is so much action and realism to the descriptions of the insects, the Elite and the mind communication that keeps you entertained and anxious even though you hope this will end in a HEA. I love the intimate connection the couples have in these books. Looking forward to the last in this series.

Couldn't put it down. Kaira is the security commander of a secret Terran weapons facility. A warrior at heart she's experienced personal loss at the hands of the Kantos and unwilling to risk her heart again. Thane is an Eon medical commander. Unlike the prior couples they bond on sight, just as the Kantos attack and take them prisoner. Thane is too honorable to force the mate bond on her even if it means unbearable pain for him. As they fight their way to freedom, Kaira must decide if love is worth the risk knowing Thane will sacrifice everything including himself for her even with her fighting the mate bond. Plenty of action and heat as the the two races get closer to defeating their mortal enemy.

Okay, this one is another great one! I think maybe near the top! Not for the romance story, although that's good too. But because this one had more happen for the plot! This one introduced unlikely allies that I didn't expect!
Kaira is another bad ass woman who can hold her own in a fight! That's why I love Anna's series! And Thane is just a cinnamon roll with a firey side! And he's a silver fox!
Kaira and Than get abducted after finding out they're instant mates! (Instant mates doesn't mean instalove!). They get dropped off on Crolla, one of the Kantos training planets. They must survive the creatures and plants of the planet, as well as the young Kantos hunting them down. It's a wild ride with new friends you wouldn't expect!

3.5 stars.

Australian Airforce Commander Kaira and Eon Medical Commander Thane were kidnapped by the Kantos in a case of mistaken identity. Considered worthless, their kidnappers decided to drop them off in a Kantos-controlled planet as bait for their young trainees.

Whilst trying to survive, Kaira and Thane encountered an Indigenous race living deep underground and Rogue Kantos who were willing to assist them. The Rogues also revealed secrets that could end the war.

Again, we have another kick-ass Terran heroine and a hunky Eon Warrior pairing, and they made an adequate conduit to give us more information about the Kantos hierarchy and what the plans are for the annihilation of the Eon empire. We are definitely getting to the end of the series!
