In this daring sequel to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, we see Lady Catherine's daughter Anne through a new lens.

Far too long, Anne de Bourgh has been pitied, ignored, and dismissed as boring and sickly. Her hopes begin to rise when two young gentlemen, both of whom would make a great catch, start paying attention to her.

With the help of Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam Darcy, Anne embarks on a journey to discover which beau is the best prospect as her potential husband. Will either one end up asking for her hand, and can she be certain of his character?

Anne must contend with differences in the gentlemen's personalities, poise, and intelligence, and even consider troubling rumors. Are the two men in competition over her? And will Lady Catherine be satisfied with either one as Anne's husband? Along the way, Anne realizes she is not the only one whose life could be changing.

#7. An author with only one published book

Rather a lovely continuation of Pride and Prejudice. I'm sure many fans will have wondered what happened to all the Bennet girls after the end of Austen's novel, and this novel delivers not only that, but includes (and indeed, largely focuses on) Anne De Bourgh too.

It can feel a tad disjointed at times, plunging us into a location and plot point, and then later beginning a new chapter with the fact that the characters have arrived there, making one sometimes wonder if they've skipped ahead, or back, or somehow read chapters out of sequence, but it doesnt spoil the narrative.

All in all, we are presented with a welcome extension to one of the world's best loved novels, in a style that indicates the author's love of Austen's own unique style of wit and warmth.

With dozens and dozens of characters set in Victorian times, this story is both enlightening and educational. The dynamic and complex characters clearly show the times and trials of family, society and convention. It is a wonder how young unmarried women of the ton survived during this age. Most men on the other hand could do as they pleased. I loved that the men depicted in this story where for the most part honorable, loving, kind gentlemen. Each character played a role in creating an entertaining story with a happy ending for all. I appreciate Mr. Wollak’s effort in recreating Jane Austin’s world. Well done.

I won this book from a GoodReads giveaway.

The story continues where Pride and Prejudice leaves off and follows the eligible ladies over the next 18 months. Each character is looking to marry primarily for love (although they have very conventional courtships). There was plenty of satisfying character growth, particularly with Anne and Kitty. I thank heaven that my mother-in-law is the opposite of Julia Duvall.

It is obvious that the author loves the original novel, and takes special care to immerse the reader into the time period through locations, clothing, and language. A wonderful debut novel!

I'm a huge fan of Jane Austen spinoffs, and was thrilled to win this in a Goodreads giveaway. Thanks to the author and publisher for the copy.

This was a delightful followup to Pride and Prejudice, with Georgiana, Anne de Bourgh, Kitty and Mary Bennet and a cast of new characters find their own happily ever afters. Even Caroline Bingley finds her own soulmate.

I want to be nice to this first time author who probably paid this publishing company $$ to help promote the book and give it a professional finish. However I also think it’s important to let readers know what to expect, especially as this book is likely to attract a lot of Jane Austen fans. Cynically I think that someone somewhere is making money simply from riding the coattails of P&P.

The writing is lacking in every way. Shifting POV in the midst of narrative, lack of character development, language and dialogue not true to the time. Any one of these could have been overlooked but combined they weigh down the story to where it wasn’t worth continuing.

ames Wollak has put a heavy burden on his shoulders, that of finding husbands for the two remaining Bennet sisters and Anne, whose mother, in Pride and Prejudice, is unable to marry off her brooding cousin Darcy. In his matrimonial anxiety, the author not only manages to get the three girls in question married, but also sets up a whirlwind of marriages that if the reader were to attend all the lunches, the effect would be the like of "La Grande Bouffe"e. The book is cute, but Wollak, however willing, is not Austen and his characters are too good, too shallow and too conventional.

In this Pride and Prejudice sequel several years have passed. The Darcy's are at Longbourn when Anne de Bourgh visits Elizabeth for her advice, travelling from Rosings for afternoon tea to discuss her two suitors, Tarquin Duvall and Lord Edgar Rutledge.
(A return trip in an afternoon from Rosings to Longbourn in an afternoon?????)
Meanwhile, Georgiana and Kitty have their own romances to deal with. But poor Mary Bennet is just an after thought in the last few pages as she gets another poor pairings. (no stars for that.) Another sequel where again and wrongly Mary wears spectacles.

A nice P&P sequel

I liked this story, but I think it had too much going on with focusing on so many different characters. I did not feel that any of them were developed as well as I would have liked. I also do not think some of the language, the cliches specifically, were appropriate to the time.

A lovely coming of age story with all of the key players from Pride & Prejudice. There is a lot of dialogue that added fun and depth to the classic characters. I particularly enjoyed all of the opera and music references and the focus on the parental troubles of an empty nest!

So I really wanted to love this book but it was just a tiny bit off for me. While the story is good and I did enjoy reading it, I think it was a little off for me because of the author trying to write like Jane Austin and it just not being quite there. I enjoyed reading it and would recommend it if you like this genre of books, it just doesn't quite hold the same cadence that Austin's books do and it left me feeling a little disjointed.
