Using Come, Follow Me—For Individuals and Families Who Is This Resource For? This resource is for every individual and family in the Church. It is designed to help you learn the gospel—whether on your own or with your family. If you haven’t studied the gospel regularly in the past, this resource can help you get started. If you already have a good habit of gospel study, this resource can help you have more meaningful experiences. How Should I Use This Resource? Use this resource in any way that is helpful to you. You may find it helpful as a guide or aid for personal and family scripture study. You could also use it for home evening. The outlines highlight important principles found in the Doctrine and Covenants, suggest study ideas and activities for individuals and families, and provide places to record your impressions. Come, Follow Me—For Individuals and Families is not meant to replace or compete with other good things you are doing. Follow the Spirit’s guidance to determine how to approach your own study of the word of God. How Does This Resource Relate to What Happens at Church? The outlines in this resource are organized according to a weekly reading schedule. Come, Follow Me—For Primary and Come, Follow Me—For Sunday School follow the same schedule. To support your efforts to learn and live the gospel at home, your teachers at church will give you opportunities to share your experiences, thoughts, and questions about the scripture passages that you have been studying at home. Because Sunday School is taught only twice a month, Sunday School teachers may choose to skip or combine outlines to keep up with the weekly schedule. This may also be necessary on weeks when regular Church meetings are not held because of stake conference or other reasons. During these weeks you are invited to continue to study the Doctrine and Covenants at home. Do I Need to Follow the Schedule? The schedule will help you finish reading the Doctrine and Covenants by the end of the year. In addition, following the same schedule as others can lead to meaningful experiences at home, at church, and everywhere else. But don’t feel bound by the schedule or compelled to read every verse; the schedule is simply a guide to help you pace yourself. The important thing is that you are learning the gospel individually and as a family.
Love these Come Follow Me manuals! I feel I got more out of my Doctrine and Covenants study with this book than I did in my Doctrine and Covenants class at BYU. Love the questions and ways for me to REALLY study the scriptures with a pen in hand, and how the scriptures apply to me.
It was a thrill to find that recent conference talks were included in the Gospel Library edition of this study guide. There were enough references that a person could go as deep into the study as they wished.
I look forward to the coming year of Old Testament study.
I always feel weird rating these types of books because it's a study guide, not something for fun. So as a study guide, it was pretty good. Doctrine and Covenants is the hardest section of scripture for me to read, so having this really helped me out. I learned some new things and learned of more sources for further information.
"As Latter-day Saints, we rejoice in the blessing of continuing revelation through modern prophets and apostles. We are thankful for their inspired words of counsel, warning, and encouragement. But most of all, we are blessed by their powerful testimonies of Jesus Christ."
"Knowing that families are imperfect and subject to attacks from the adversary, God sent His Beloved Son to redeem us and heal our families. And He sent latter-day prophets with a proclamation to defend and strengthen families. If we follow the prophets and put faith in the Savior, even though mortal families fall short of the divine ideal, there’s hope for families—on earth and in heaven."
I am a better person for having studied this. Giving my time to it every Sunday, to having an hour of church at home instead of with my ward, has been surprisingly enriching. The questions are so thoughtful and well organized with relevant scripture that it's almost impossible not to feel the Holy Spirit as you read. As always, the focus is our Savior, Jesus Christ: His words, His example, and what He asks us to do. This was very worth my time and blessed my life. :)
I resist these types of study guides, 'directed' learning. But I decided to read and use this more fully this year and I am glad I did. The Doctrine and Covenants is the most difficult of the scriptures for me. I think I understood more and went deeper than I ever have before and that is in part due to this study guide. And because of this experience, I have more appreciation of, and love for, the Doctrine and Covenants.
I appreciated this manual most of all for its helps, guides, and additional resources on the topics/sections addressed. More than any of the others (which were also excellent), this one is the one I personally found to be most valuable because of its insights. I need more help understanding and accepting more things in the Doctrine and Covenants more than any other book in our canon. I see myself revisiting this more than the others.
A nice companion to a year of studying the Doctrine & Covenants. I appreciated all of the suggestions to think or feel as you were reading, but I think I would have liked more of the quotes from apostles and prophets or of the Voices of the Restoration sections. One really great element was the online links to additional media.
This was a great Study Guide for the Doctrine and Covenants and parts of the Pearl of Great Price. It linked scriptures in the Bible, Book of Mormon to the Doctrine and Covenants as well as linking the topics to talks given by the general authorities. I'm very glad that I spent time each day on studying it.
I'm so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a modern prophet, president Nelson. This guide and program, Come Follow Me, has blessed our family and those we teach so much. I have taught Seminary the last 3 years, and I love the connection between our family home study and the Seminary study. It has truly helped us enjoy our family scripture study even more.
I am grateful for this guide, which helped me learn and gain new insights into the Doctrine and Covenants. I love how the Come, Follow Me manuals focus on the essential truths of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and are applicable to a global audience.
An amazing study companion in learning more about the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price and Articles of Faith, the official declarations and proclamations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
This guide for the Doctrines and Covenants has a wealth of historical and contextual information to allow an in-depth examination of this scripture. It has deepened my appreciation and understanding of this modern-day scripture immensely.
I finally feel like I'm in the swing of things... and it's been 3 years? I have to say that I think that, in this case, the digital version is much better than the print one. And I never say that.
Me encantan los libros de Ven sígueme. Son muy completos para nosotros como miembros de la Iglesia de Jesucristo, tiene muchos recursos que me ayudaron a lo largo del año 💖
Beautiful guide for our family, always something relevant that we could apply into our daily lives. I also gained a lot of insight for my calling in YW’s.
This has been a wonderful springboard for me this year. I love how it places extra articles, church history, and so many other valuable sources to enrich our study of the D&C.
