Laural Farabaugh is an award winning children’s picture book author and illustrator who fell in love with picture books after years of reading to her own children. With her passion for painting, she loves to create colorful illustrations that light up the faces of children and write stories that parents and grandparents will love to read-a-loud. She has published 4 books that include Where Do the Bugs Go When it Rains?, Where Do the Bugs Go When it Snows?, Where Do the Bugs Go to Sleep? and Finding Easter. Her interest in bugs came to her in an unusual way when her preschooler asked her, “Mom, where do the bugs go when it rains?” This simple question was the spark and inspiration for her series. She spent 10 years, while raising her kids, painting the 28 pages of illustrations for her first book. She spent those years dreaming of becoming an author and decided to make it a reality with her own books inspired by her children and love for art. Laural is a 2020 winner of a Royal Dragonfly Book Award for Where Do the Bugs Go When it Rains? She currently lives in the Baltimore area of Maryland with her husband, two daughters and one adorable golden doodle dog. Won this is a goodreads giveaway - which thank you! Read it to my 2.5 yo grandson & he was kinda “meh” about it. I liked it; cute illustrations that translated great to the electronic format (Lenovo Tablet for Nook; Kindle app).
A bug of some kind is having a sleepover. After the party, the kid bugs try to go to sleep. All of them fail. As each kid bug leaves, the host accompanies them home, and they all sleep in different spots, in different ways. I'm not sure the sleeping arrangements are all entomologically correct, but they're fun to see. A funny ironic ending.
The illustrations seem like they are computer generated. In most cases I prefer hand drawn illustrations, but these are passable.
I won a free kindle copy of this in a Goodreads Giveaway. This is a cute children’s book about a birthday bug who wants to have a sleepover with his friends. He soon realizes that it might have been a mistake. You’ll see where his different buggy friends live as the story progresses. Cute for young children.
The author takes us into the tiny world of insects with pure imagination. This book is uplifting and funny. The cute illustration displays the characters wonderfully. Children will definitely enjoy it!
A great story about bugs having a slumber party. But staying somewhere new is not always easy, as many kids can relate. Read the book to learn where bugs sleep!
This cute story is about bugs who start a sleepover, but by the end of the night very bug returns home. So we learn where every bug type sleeps. Cute illustrations of our bug friends are included.
This one is perfect for bedtime. The illustrations are some of Laural's best. I think my favorite is the butterfly tree. This one Will go on my collection for the day I have grandkids.
I received a copy of this e-book from Goodread and the publisher for an honest review and any opinions expressed are my own. This was a cute book that showed bugs, like children having a difficult time staying the night at a sleepover. The concept for this book was a little over a 5 and 6 year olds ability to grasp that bugs and children are different and how they’re different. The book didn’t really explain the different type of bugs at the sleepover, and their living situations; hence a lot of questions. Thank you Alexa! This isn’t a book I will likely read again.
This is a sweet rhyming book with delightful colorful pictures. A birthday sleepover with friends doesn't go as planned when it turns out that the different bugs all sleep in different kinds of places. It is charming, and a nice bedtime story. Either a disclaimer (caterpillars don't sleep in tulips) or an appendix with an explanation of which bugs actually sleep where would be nice. My preschoolers were confused!
Children will love this rhyming book about bugs. The story was very cute and so were the illustrations! I enjoyed learning about how and where different bugs sleep.
Both my kids loved it. The pictures are very captivating, and I enjoy the different nature facts. The story is beautifully written and especially good for a peaceful, bedtime story, or quiet time.
Beautifully illustrated and So True of the First Sleepover
The perfect book for the sleepover that wasn’t. Colorful illustrations and bugs that couldn’t fall asleep will be perfect to soothe those first sleepover blues.
This is a charming little rhyming story intended for the small child. It has some really bright and colorful illustrations that will make interesting discussion topics. A good bedtime book that reader and child will enjoy. I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads giveaway for this honest review.
A cute, silly story depicting where three insects live. I love the illustrations and the way the author incorporated education without children even know! I highly recommend!
This is a fun story to enjoy with our little ones. Hosting a sleepover is always a fun idea until everyone gets homesick. The illustrations were simple, but complimented the story well. Cool read overall!
I loved the beautiful colored pictures!! The storyline was great for small children. And loved the prayer or saying in the beginning. So simple and sweet.
A very cute book about bugs having a sleepover that teaches kids where bugs actually sleep. The artwork is beautiful. It was another Goodreads' FirstReads win.
I thought it was cute. I'm not a huge fan of the art, but it was fine. I like the idea of learning how different bugs sleep, but I didn't like some of the lines.
