Peter hasn’t been the same since the fire. A scarred, broken wolf who can’t run, can’t fight, and can’t manage even the simplest conversation without coming across like an asshole.
Until he finds her.
She can’t speak. Can’t see. Can’t tell him where she came from. Branded with a sigil by the most vile group of practitioners ever to walk the earth, she could be a danger to everyone. Or…his pack's only hope for salvation.
A Shift in Fire is the fourth and final book in the Elemental Shifter series. This dark, dangerous, and sexy series should be read in order.

Patricia makes her home in Seattle with her husband and very spoiled cats, and when she’s not writing, she loves working on home improvement projects, especially if they involve power tools.
Her Away From Keyboard series will always be her first love, because that’s where she realized the characters in her head were telling their own stories—and she was just writing them down.
This story continues where the last one left off and continues to follow this group of family and friends as they set out for their ultimate battle, yet. They have endured so much and now it feels as if their worlds are coming apart, but in this story, we are consumed with more magic and introduced to new characters that play a big part in their lives. Peter finds himself as his usual grumpy self and yet he finds his other half, but there is so much at play and while they try to figure out their next moves, he tries to learn to let go of his past and not let it get him down. I loved this world I have loved every single character, adventure, and breathtaking moment. This author has a beautiful way to introduce readers into different worlds and make us fall in love with every aspect of its story!!
I was privileged to receive an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is, sadly, the last in a series revolving around Werewolves and their Elemental mates. I have been reading each as it came out and have to say the author is ending on a high note indeed.
She has once more woven a tapestry of story and character that draws you in and makes you feel like you are catching up with/learning about friends, old and new. Each book flows into the next with a continuity that makes you want to read the four books back to back to back to back. And if you truly wish to follow the story, it is necessary to read them. In order.
Peter is someone I have had mixed emotions about for some time. While a mercurial personality is natural for Weres, Peter's was greatly aggravated back in the first book, A Shift in Water. Afterward, he seemed to, if you'll pardon the pun, shift between sullen and mercurial for no real reason. His behavior was understandable, but made him difficult to like.
This is the most sexless book of the series, but the action and depth of emotion are so engrossing it's truly not missed. Instead of sex the reader is treated to an intimacy between Peter and Sameen that is sometimes missing in novels.
This is the second book to include Regulus, a Vampire indebted to Peter who proves a great ally again and again. Like the Weres and Elementals he is intriguing and well-developed, very three-dimensional despite his limited though pivotal contributions.
I would love to learn more of him and his abilities, knowing from her other books that this author's Vampires have been developed beyond the 'blood-sucker' stage at which most are presented.
I hope that at some future time, the author might decide to come back to this series and expand it with the tales of other members of the packs finding their mates and keeping readers updated on the lives of those we've come to love beyond this final book.
This is the last book of the series and I would give it 3.5 stars. I liked Peter and Sameen, but they weren't my favorites. I really liked that the plot of this one didn't get mired in the trysts of the main characters. Without giving anything away, this is the book with the least amount of adult rated sexual scenes in the series, and for good reason. I thought the slow burn was appropriate for Peter and Sameen, given the circumstances, and kudos to the author for bringing us a gentler side of Peter, and demonstrating how there can be romance without the sex all the time.
We get the final confrontation with the Thirteen in this book, and learn the answers to some of our questions. However, there are ones left unanswered, and a couple things I thought would happen, did not. Although, the ending was satisfactory... something still seemed a bit lacking or unfinished... and then I realized that it is because I think the ending of the series was rushed.
As I have mentioned previously, I thought much of the first half of a A Shift in the Air was too focused on the main characters' sexual encounters, and not enough on moving the plot of the series along. The result was that the last two books had to recapture the plot and just didn't get the pace back on track. There were some good scenes like when Farren was finally able to see her pack member turned vampire - but I wanted to see another that explained why Ewan changed his mind on what he told her. Or did he?
The epilogue was good, but I wished it would have rotated around the four main couples of the series, instead of the two. (Not that I mind Cade and Mara - they remain my favorite, but it would have been a nice touch.)
It was a full circle ending!! Loved it. Poor Peter he had been suffering since book one. Yes in the grand scheme of things compared to sameen he hasn’t suffered quite nearly as much as her, but she end so eloquently stated you can’t compare pain. It hurts and affects differently. Impacts are long not known. And some take more time to heal and adapt to their new normal. I liked how he was protective and growly. While it annoyed me how Cade was from time to time. (Spoiler**)Yes he was in the same boat when Mara went missing. But he treated Peter like he want allowed to be protective and possessive of sameen. Yes he has been a dick for months but that’s from dealing with everything that’s has happened to him as well as his family. Then basically Cade dismissed Peter for being protective of sameen when he was risking her to save Mara. Yes I get trying to save Mara. But sameen is his mate and isn’t Cades to sacrifice. It other than that. Cade redeemed himself and apologized because he couldn’t cope with the possible loss of his wife/mate and his baby. I liked the growth and change for Ewan and Regelus’ roles and love within the pack. Thank god for the ending with how things were for the 13. I don’t think I could handle a less satisfactory way for that to be over than this. And yay Paddy. SO COOL! Ahhh all the revelations. Can’t wait for epilogues.
A Shift in Fire Series: Elemental Shifter #4 by Patricia D. Eddy Narrated by Richard Sawyer, Sophie Daniels
I couldn't wait to listen to this 4th book of the Elemental Shifter series! While not normally a pnr listener, this story has captured my interest and I need to know how it ends! This book features Peter, and out of all the characters, he is the most prickly and for good reason. He meets Sameen who has had her own horrible circumstances, and finally finds a way to heal. These two are made for each other. But things are never easy. Eddy gives us the ultimate twists and turns, keeping us on the edge until the very end. The journey with these characters, through shifting, elements and magic has intrigued me, and I may delve into some other pnr now. It's fascinating! She truly has a gift when it comes to creating her worlds and characters. This series was a lot of fun.
The team of Sophie Daniels and Richard Sawyer finish the series with their wonderful voices. They have been a pleasure to listen to as they narrate from book to book. Voices and accents are consistent making it easy to navigate who is speaking and giving them the voices that match their personalities. I really enjoyed their story telling and will be watching for more of them.
More surprises and twists and turns in the final installment of the series. Danger, action, battles, and edge of your seat suspense as everything culminates to the final showdown with the thirteen. Peter's mate brings him out of his spiraling thoughts when he finds her after she narrowly escaped the Thirteen's clutches. In typical fashion, Sameen is a key to the battle they're waging against the evil. Peter's sweet nature comes forefront, along with the typical protective growl of a mate who would do anything to keep her safe, and I loved how he wasn't afraid to ask his family for help from the start in that endeavor. Although I wouldn't have minded seeing more of these characters and the rest of the intriguing characters we have met get their HEA, it was a good ending to the overall arc. Maybe we will see the others in another series one day in another book. The narration by Richard Sawyer and Sophie Daniels was great.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "A SHIFT IN FIRE" Final book in this PHENOMINAL Elemental Shifter Series SOOOO addicting each book hooks you from beginning to end so well written by creative writer Patricia D Eddy. Peter & Sameen travel a very emotional journey both have baggage their struggling with, can they find strength to be what each other needs it's heart wrenching to watch. I love the journey Peter & Sameen his mate takes you on so much happens its nonstop action of good VS evil, magic, mind-blowing battles your turning the pages to see what happens next. I definitely recommend to get this entire PHENOMINALLY well written series with fantastic well developed characters you fall in love with. I'm sorry its over Patricia D Eddy never disappoints I thoroughly enjoyed each book it's a must have series for sure.
I am in love with all of these characters now! Showing how broken characters help each other heal and cherish each other, scars and all, is Patricia Eddy's forte. The climactic battle was truly challenging to read; I had to keep reminding myself to breathe, and I was really afraid that some of the main characters were going to die and leave us. And it was so rewarding to read a PNR where the women stood up to the dominant males they loved, and taught them that they could love, support, and protect them without overprotecting them out of living their own lives!
Note: while there is definitely steam and some sex, this series is a well written and complex urban fantasy and romance, not porn. If you get irritated when plot, character development, and world building delay you from reaching the next wankfest, read something else.😘😘😘😘
This is the last book for this series and certainly did not disappoint. It is plot heavy and recommend reading all previous books to follow along.
With that said, I do love how Sameen and Peter's story developed. A bit rushed since things were coming to a head fast but it was heart wrenching and heart warming on how these two came together. I cannot imagine how Sameen have felt being tortured for years but Patricia's writing was so well done that you can feel that pain and being lost. Peter, unsure of himself, of them, did develop to be the mate that she deserves, along with the help of his alpha and new family.
Love that endures, family that supports and being beautifully broken is all in this wonderful book. Read it now!
Finally we get to the stunning conclusion of this series and what a series it has been as we went on a roller coaster ride with these werewolves and the elementals that completed them and this last story is Peter's the damaged wolf who sees no good in anyone or anything
When confronted by the woman he knows his his mate he will have to change his ways but are they to ingrained to deep can he fight his way to a better place with the help of Sameen she is also damage but has managed to find her place in life Meanwhile as theses two try to find there way with one another The final confrontation is coming for the pack and their enemies who will be the ones standing at the end You will have to read to see
This book concludes the Shift Series and picks up where book 3 ends ( on a cliffhanger). I loved this series so much and how well the characters were written throughout! Two wolf packs join up to fight with elementals, a vampire and a mysterious old man against The Thirteen, a group of practitioners trying to harness and control all the elementals. This book introduces Sameen, who turns out to be Peter's mate. There's non-stop action from start to finish and a tidy ending that talks about how each couple and the rest of the characters fare. All in all, like any good series, I didn't want it to end, but was happy with how it all turns out!
If your interests tend towards shifters and elementals, this series was always a slam dunk for you. In my case, I'd never read of elementals, let alone knew what they were, until I started this series. Thank you Ms. Eddy for educating me, as well as entertaining me in the most superb way!
A Shift In Fire is the conclusion to this series that start with a Shift In The Water. The characters are consistent throughout this series, so once you make friends with them, each book develops them even more. I started out with Mara and Shaggy Man in Shift in the Water, and ended with the whole group with A Shift in Fire.
What can I say about this that hasn't already been said? This was a knock-out of a finale. I even fell in love with te vampire that that's saying something. Ms. Eddy took these characters and put them in situations in this book that were so well written that even as a novice reader, I was able to get so far into this story, I nearly cried when it ended. It didn't matter that it was ending on a high note, I knew these wonderful characters were people I would miss (yes, even the vampire).
I could, as I usually do, go on and on about Ms. Eddy's writing style and the way she can turn a phrase. But this time I will only say - start with A Shift in the Water and READ THEM ALL. You will not be disappointed. These books are a perfect blend of action, adventure, suspense, and romance, all wrapped up in the arms of shifters and elementals. What more could you possibly want from a book? Thank you Ms. Eddy for hours of enjoyable reading - I hope the elementals stick around for another series, but if not, I'll be looking forward to your next (and the one after that, and the one after that).
well done Patricia D eddy. great series and what a story. easier to understand than the FATES series... but all the riddles were perfectly written. love the humour and paddy...oh boy!!!! so enjoyed the accents and will miss it. everything ends with HEA which is the norm. so loved this. only thing I have to object to is Peter and his mate...it didn't connect with me like the others mates . but there was more drama in this one...had to be to get it all to come together. will miss these characters. and good onya Peter!
Nothing is as it seems. Everyone has hidden powers and talents. A Shift in Fire is the ultimate confrontation with magic and vampires and werewolves, everyone participating, everyone playing a role in the outcome. A hint from the author suggests there may be more to this series, not only in extra content but maybe in more books....I definitely hope so. Elemental Shifters, especially book 4,A Shift in Fire, is a series that should not be missed. So highly recommend.
Such an epic finale to a series that is more than exciting, but a series that managed to draw you into an awe inspiring world of paranormal magic, action packed adventure and thrilling twists. The characters and the world created for them is built on myriad of emotions and chemistry which makes them real, almost tangible and throughly engaging. Depth of detail and the world building will long have me rereading this series many times over.
This is the fourth and last installment in the Elemental Shifters Series, a Paranormal Romance. You have to listen to this Series in order. Peter and Sameen's story is suspenseful, action packed, and entertaining. Sophie Daniels and Richard Sawyer did a fantastic job with the narration. I enjoyed it.
Amazing conclusion to the series. Peter is his usual grumpy self but it was refreshing to see his growth and change as he meets his mate. This was exciting and full of twists and turns and magical mayhem. I couldn't put it down.
This was a fantastic, thrilling, suspenseful and highly entertaining conclusion to this amazing series. It is full of action, twists and turns throughout and lots of magic, which kept me riveted to my seat.
I began this series on a Monday and had it done by Sunday.the characters are wonderful and fully formed. Patricia’s details are great and I could see what she was trying to get across
Extremely well written, all four books flow one to the next keeping the story continuously emerging. No continuity breaks, and all questions and prophecies neatly resolved. Couldn’t put the stories down.
This was the very best book in a crazy good series! Good versus evil, magic, epic battles, romance and wicked cool characters....there's nothing more you could want!! I only wish there were more.
Just finished the entire series and loved it. If you like the supernatural you will not be disappointed. Great author. Plan to read many more of her books.
As with the audiobook for A Shift in the Earth, the narrators truly bring the emotion of the story to the surface. With so many accents littered throughout the action of the plot, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book brought to life.
As a side note, Richard Sawyer's voice for Regulus in both books just *screamed* Hugo Weaving in The Matrix. That was highly entertaining and yet perfectly fitting for the mysterious vampire.
Original review:
A Shift in Fire was such a fitting conclusion to the Elemental Shifter series. Since Cade's disappearance in book one, Peter has been a... difficult wolf (and man) for others to be around. He feels broken, especially so when surrounded by the pack members he knows were also tortured in various ways but came out the other side mostly whole. When he meets Sameen, who has been through an ordeal so painfully cruel she doesn't even know who she is anymore, he's eager to help save her. While I often found myself wanting to smack Peter for his sulliness and his inability to get past his own perceived failures, I found Sameen to be so quietly intriguing from the very start. In their struggle to find themselves, they find strength in each other... and though it's a very emotional journey, it's a pleasure to watch.
Finding beauty in what's broken is something Patricia Eddy does so very well, and this series is no exception. In each book, the characters have faced what has seemed like impossible odds, magic they couldn't imagine pitting themselves against... but finding endurance in themselves, a shield in those they love, and a constant, enduring strength in their pieced-together family gave them the chance they needed to survive.
I have loved this series from the very start, and though I'm sad to see it done... it really was such a perfect ending. I wasn't quite prepared for how emotional I'd be, especially with some of the final scenes, and it was definitely bittersweet saying goodbye to these characters. (I won't be upset if it isn't the last we see of any of them, that's for sure.)
I received a free advanced copy of the book from the author, but am leaving my honest review voluntarily.
Shift in Fire is the exciting conclusion to the Elemental Shifters 4-book series. I’ve been waiting for this and was very lucky to receive an Advanced Listener Copy in exchange for my honest review. The whole series has been an adventure in the world of werewolves, elemental magic, good versus evil, and individuals struggling with physical injuries and inner demons. Patricia Eddy is a master at weaving together engaging stories featuring strength in characters who are beautifully broken. Peter is struggling with self worth and what he perceives as his limited contributions to the pack following traumatic events which left him damaged and scarred. Sameen has suffered unimaginable horrors at the hands of The 13. They fit together like puzzle pieces and bring out the best in each other. We continue to see how the other couples cope with the ongoing struggle throughout the series, so it was really good to see them evolve. Paddy is a very intriguing character with some great revelations in this book. The mysterious vampire, Regulus, ends up being a vital addition to their group and a very interesting and elusive character. I would definitely like to learn more about him.
Richard Sawyer & Sophie Daniels delivered excellent performances of all of the characters of various ages, backgrounds, accents, and wide ranging emotions! I’m fairly new to paranormal romance, but I love Patricia Eddy and would definitely read more about these characters.
