Things just don't seem to be going right for Gemma or at least in the way she wants them to go. When Gemma was crowned Queen of Pentacles Mira lost it she lashed out and ran using her key to escape as she couldn't deal with the fact that Ethan had crowned Gemma instead of her, declaring that it was really Gemma that was his true love, his soul mate all this complicated by the fact that Ethan had been dating Mira and giving Gemma the cold shoulder and ignoring the fact that they'd kissed. Ohh talk about awkward love triangle.

No matter what Gemma had to find her sister she had to make things right as for Ethan she couldn't deal with him or his feelings why did he have to complicate everything he could have told her how he felt they could have sorted it without anyone getting hurt couldn't they??

However all is not what it seems the flashes of another life of what could have been that Gemma's been having about her and Ethan together loving each other, spending time with each other could be more than just fantasies could someone have been playing with there memories so that events would play out the way they wanted them to.
None of it mattered Gemmas priority is to find her sister and maybe her new power as Queen of Pentacles can help she could go back in time find her sister and make things right with Mira however what Gemma finds isn't so easy to put right could she have lost Mira to the dark side but more importantly can she get her back from it..

Slow start good finish

Gemma, Queen of Pentacles, has a lot on her plate. Mira, her sister, is gone with the Dark Crown. She has to save the Queen of Wands, Selena. She has to pass the Angel Trials so she can get to Avalon. In other words she is almost overwhelmed with all she must accomplish.
I received this book as an ARC.

I loved this story of Gemma with her soulmate Ethan and the others from the first books as they continue on the journey to kill the demons. Now her sister Mira has dissappeared and has to be found as well. Very suspenseful and of course a cliffhanger at the end!

This book was all about answering questions you’ve had for awhile. You got the answers you need even if in the briefest forms. It leaves you wanting the next book with a cliffhanger answer!!

This is more of a transitional book. There were a lot of questions answered. Some situations reversed. And a lot of things were set up to prepare for the next battle. That did mean that there was a lot of "sit down and let me explain" moments. So while this did further the storyline, it wasn't as engaging as some of the other books in the series. Well written as always.

Michelle Madow delivers, as usual! This is the third book in the fourth series that takes place in her Dark World, a universe where all types of supernaturals exist in several different realms. In this book we learn that true love and destiny cannot be avoided, and even time travel has its limitations.

I've always had a soft spot for stories that explore time travel, and this book does not disappoint. Gemma has been crowned the Queen of Pentacles, and with her new title comes the ability to change the past. As she discovers the limits of her power and finds ways to use it to her advantage, she struggles internally with the guilt over her feelings for Ethan, and the strange memories that surfaced when she was poisoned. There was also a sense of urgency in this novel that exists even though our main character can manipulate time. How many people can she save, and why can't she save everyone? And which favors should she grant, and which are either ethically questionable or logistically impossible?

This book, unlike most of Michelle's other novels, is entirely told from Gemma's point of view. Since she's the one travelling through time and affecting things with different people, but also observing events that happened when she wasn't present, it still has an omniscient feeling, but we only see the characters through their interactions with Gemma. Perhaps the next novel will focus on what Mira has been doing all this time, because I'm very curious about that as well. As is typical with the third book in a series, there are hints of a final, ultimate battle, implying that perhaps this series will include the conclusion to the Dark World saga.... but there are also hints that another character may have a tale to tell in a subsequent series. Either way, I cant wait to see what new adventure Michelle Madow takes us on next!

I volunteered to review an ARC of this novel.

I received an advanced copy from the author via Bookfunnel for an honest review. The Dragon Scorned is a continuation from book 2. Needs to be read in sequence to gain the full foundation of the series. Each book is not meant to be a standalone. This book is mainly from Gemma’s perspective and the events that transpired after Mira’s explosive departure from the group and becomes the newly Dark Queen of Pentacles. Mira is Gemma’s opposite of the Holy & their respective equivalent Demonic appointed relics. Gemma is devastated and tries to reverse the events but learns some valuable lessons. A lot of life lessons could be construed as Gemma’s adventure and story continues. It can be used as a deeper reflection to the reader. I have enjoyed this branched off and elongated version from the original series. As a long time reader and fan, I have found the different seasons from the original The Vampire Wish an amazing journey.

DO NOT READ IF YOU DID NOT READ BOOK 2!

First of all, look at how amazingly gorgeous this book looks. Michelle really knows to find the best cover for her books.
In this book we read more about all the queens holy and dark. Also there is a little adult part. Gemma struggles a lot during this book and it is all gemma person. I miss Mira part a bit I must say. Maybe the next book has them both again? Even tho I was rooting for Gemma, in this book I thought about her using her power. She misuses it by my opinion, by trying to change stuff that she should have done differently. I still love her and I am happy she has Ethan.
The most thrilled I was when Selena came in to view and hope to read more of her. Just like we had with raven in the previous book.

I can not wait to start reading the dragon queen when it is finished.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review you just read.

This series just keeps getting better and better as the story progresses. Fast paced with lots of action and adventure and magic and romance as we continue on our journey with Gemma and Ethan and crew on their race through time to save the world!! An exciting and gripping read that draws you in and does not let go until the very end. Fantastic storyline where we do get some answers and great characters that are strong and likeable. I am very eager to read the next book though especially after that ending. I am loving this series!

Michelle Madow never fails to please when it comes to her stories. Gemma is now the Queen of Pentacles and has the ability to travel through time. Her twin sister, Mira, is missing and dark things are hunting them both. She has to learn how to use her new found magic. To find what she can change and what she can't. What is most evident in her new found things, is that Ethan is her soulmate and that is why he crowned her and not Mira. A lot of things become much clearer as the reader progresses through the book.

This book does not disappoint and I love the added element of Time Travel!
Gemma sees what she can do with her power and finds out about her memories about Ethan.
The book is from Gemma's point of view and I'm wondering if the next book will be from Mira's.
I would highly recommend this book and series.

Book three in this Dragon Twin series and it doesn't disappoint! And this time around, we have time travel! I'm always concerned that books involving time travel will be too confusing with all the back and forth and event changes. However, Michelle Madow is able to handle the different time threads in a very straightforward and understandable way (kudos!). Can't wait to see what happens next!

THIS BOOK!!! Michelle Madow continues to amaze me with the complexities of this series. Now, on top of managing generations of story lines, she manages multiple realities with time travel. And spoiler alert - she does it all flawlessly! That said, you cannot read this book without reading the earlier books in her series. It just won't make any sense. But trust me, YOU WANT TO READ THIS SERIES. So click on out of The Dragon Scorned and go back to "The Vampire Wish" series, then "Angel Trials," then "Faerie Games" and finally enter the world of "The Dragon Twins." I love all these characters and enjoy slipping into Madow's Dark World so very much. I'm both excited and devastated that she's going to complete the entire series in her next book. Her stories center on strong female characters we all need, with a satisfying combination of action/adventure, self-discovery and romance. Michelle is in my personal Top 3 fantasy authors of all time, joining SJM and Amentrout, and takes the crown when it comes to keeping story lines straight. Nothing irritates me more than an author going back on something stated in a previous book in a series, and Michelle NEVER makes this mistake. So read her work, but don't start here. And enjoy every breathless second of the amazing adventure she takes you on through Dark World.

This is a fun time time-traveling book. Gemma learns how to use her new powers. Gemma also learns what happened to Mira. Gemma tries to avoid Ethan throughout the whole book until she finally decides to look for answers. Gemma goes back many times in this book and changes the past. I think it will be for the better, only time will tell on that. I am happy that Gemma finally did look for answers. She also gets quite sighted in what she wants and doesn't think of others when she does. I'm hoping Ethan will balance her. It will be interesting to see what happens next. I am leaving this review voluntarily after being sent a free book.

One thing that nagged at me about the earlier two books was Gemma's understandable immaturity. She's a teenager after all, but it still left me feeling annoyed at her thought processes and obsession over any little thing that Ethan did.

However, in this book Gemma stepped into her role of queen of pentacles and her response to Ethan throughout the book was relatable. There's something unique and powerful about the inner turmoil of loving someone deeply, but also being deeply hurt by them and truly not wanting to be near them. This response was a good call, because it made the characters growth interesting and honest. If Gemma had just ran into his arms because he finally chose her it would have been to flippant and easy.

Very much looking forward to the last book in this season of the dark world.

IT ALL MAKE SO MUCH SENSE NOW!!! If you have read the previous ones then you know exactly what I am talking about. You finally find out the reason why. On another note, it was an amazing book. Loved the progression and the story and the characters. Gemma and Ethan struggle to deal with each others feeling and the disappearance of Mira. Gemma comes in to her as Queen roll with determination, there is no doubt this is the person she was meant to be. There is a bit of a cliff hanger but it won't leave you angry or upset. It just leads into a hint of what Michelle will have in store for us in the next book. I can't wait to see how this beautiful crafted world continues.

I am absolutely loving this series. The main character Gemma, although flawed, is trying to figure out who she is with all this new magic. Maneuvering the relationships with Ethan and her twin Mira, she’s got a lot going on. I’m completely hooked on the plot. It’s different than anything I’ve read.

I read ARCs of the other books in this series and the prequel series' to this one and loved them all, so I always look forward to finding out how the characters story is going to progress! I started my ARC of this book as soon as I could and after re-reading the last few chapters of the second book lol, and after reading, I have to say that I really enjoyed it! The plot developed at the perfect pace and it kept me wanting to read on and find out what was going to happen next! I also wasn't really sure where this book was going to go, but the author took it in a completely different direction that what I thought lol! It made sense though and it revealed a lot and There also wasn't a lot of action or suspense in this book, but there was a lot more going on that there didn't need to be! There was also a bit of romance between the main character and her love interest, which I loved! The characters were again amazing and made this book even better! Gemma was again the main female character, and in this book she was determined to find her sister, Mira, and she was going to do that any way possible! I felt like Gemma knew more about her powers and about how to control them and she acted like a queen! I can see Gemma growing even more as this series progresses and I can't wait to see it! Ethan was again the love interest of Gemma! I liked that Ethan was in this book quite a bit because I felt like he had to be! He was also protective of Gemma, even though she wasn't the nicest to him because of what had happened in the last book! It was easy to see how Ethan felt about Gemma and he didn't give up on her seeing that they were meant to be together! This author's books and the books in this series and the prequel series have pretty much all been written from several point of views, so I was very surprised as I progressed through this book and it was all written from Gemma's point of view! I mean, I enjoyed it only being written through Gemma's eyes because it allowed me to follow what she had to go through and the Mira also only made a few appearances, so I understood why it was only written from Gemma's point of view! I'm also going to assume that the next book will probably have some chapters written from Mira's point of view, especially after the ending of the second book! I'm not sure when the next book in this series is going to release because I can't find any information on it or even a title and there was nothing at the end of this book lol! I'll definitely be looking forward to finding out what's going to happen next and the ending of this book also had a big reveal, so I can't wait to see where the plot is going to go next! I also love the cover for this book a lot! I love how well it suits the book and it would definitely draw me to the series if I didn't already know the author's name! The cover model is also the perfect Gemma! Big thank you to Michelle for an ARC of The Dragon Scorned!

SEMI-SPOILERS…

.

For me, the thing that makes books with romance in them so wonderful is the part where the two MCs fall in love. Hopefully slowly and over time, rather than insta-love. But sometimes even insta-love can be wonderful if well written. Unfortunately, we are completely deprived of that entire experience in this series. I understand that this was to make this a plot twist that no one saw coming, but it just left me with disappointment.

In addition, there were numerous plot holes using this literary device. It’s true the author did try to fill in where she could. And if the romance had been better, or the reason for certain ‘tragic events’ taking place had been better, I would have forgiven them. But, none of those things were, so here I am at the end of book 3, completely dissatisfied and unwilling to go to book 4.

Interestingly, I didn’t realize when I picked this series up that it tied into the other 2 that I’d read previously. I purposely skipped The Fairie Games because I was so disappointed with the first 2 series and had zero desire to read the third. And this fourth one is much the same.

There is so much backstory and twists and turns and connection in all of these books, and yet it ALWAYS falls flat. I think because it’s almost like painting by numbers or connecting the dots. It’s formulaic instead of seamless and natural with emotional depth and complex characters.

Unfortunately, I now know in the future I will be avoiding Miss Madow’s books as they do not speak to me on the visceral level I desire.

I love it when a series starts off with a bang and then gets better and better. That’s certainly the case with Michelle Madow’s Dark World: The Dragon Twins series. Book 1 (separately reviewed) was easily worth 5-stars as far as I was concerned but it’s somehow gotten even better. So now we are at The Dragon Scorned (Book 3) and when the publisher’s blurb says that Gemma and Ethan race through time to save the world they mean it quite literally. The result is one heck of a fantastically written and totally addictive tale that’s super easy to highly recommend. If you’ve been following this series, enjoy as Book 3 gives you what you’ve been craving. If you’re a newcomer I strongly recommend starting at Book 1, not because you cannot do perfectly well starting here but rather because reading the books in order will enhance a pretty much guaranteed to be enjoyable experience.

I enjoy this author. As well as the other series connected to this series.

I've read all the connected series , Angel trials , vampire wish ect. I really enjoy long series like these. I also enjoy that that are not a small novella of a different characters view of what happened. It's actually a while story intertwined. Brilliant. The only thing is I read them out of order and even that I didn't mind because even tho the stories are intertwined they still have their own story. So that's cool. They are pretty easy to follow. A lot of big series take a lot of time doing a recap and it bores me. This author did a good job keeping h the recap to a minimum and I liked that. Can't wait for the next book. Keep writing :) .

First of all, I just want to say thank you to Michelle Madow for giving me an ARC of this book to read in exchange for an honest review. No compensation was given, offered, or taken to alter the opinion.

The Dragon Scorned is the third book in Michelle's Dragon Twins series. This book is told only from Gemma's point of view. I wish we had gotten to see Mira's point of view as well, but maybe the next one! This book was not as action packed as the others, but it moves the story along by exploring the concept of time travel. A little confusing at first, but super fun to read! Now that we have all the queens together, I am looking forward to seeing them work together in the next book.

The Dragon Scorned (Dark World: The Dragon Twins Book 3)

The Dragon Scorned (Dark World: The Dragon Twins Book 3) Gemma is now the Queen of Pentacles and she is on a mission to right some wrongs. As we all read from the last book Ethan really ❤️ loves 💕 Gemma and Mira goes certifiable. We learn why Gemma had the hallucination of Ethan and her together in the alternate life and what Lilith is really trying to do. Can't wait to start next book #4!! This is a really good book by a very talented writer. The storyline has ke  me on my toes. You won't be disappointed at all. Definitely recommend this book 📖 / series 📚!!!

Not sure what to say without revealing too much. I hate spoilers. So, I'll just say this is an awesome story. It's pretty far out there as far as fantasy goes. The characters are amazing as always. I can't help but care. The visual images I have in my head are due to the powerful words the author uses in her works. I can see the places she describes. There's a cliff hanger of sorts, but since all of the books have been released this shouldn't deter anyone from reading it at this point. As for me I'm so glad I waited. I'm going to start the final book now.

Time travel & memories restored.

A little hard to follow with all the time travel. I realize it's necessary to understand the story. Glad Gemma finally asks the most important question for her & Ethan. Not a big fan of Queen Katherine! I feel bad for Mira she was used. The ending has me grabbing the next book now. Thank you Michelle for fixing the ending of the last book in this one. I was really upset! I couldn't believe you would do that to her. Hopefully, you know who I'm talking about. I don't want to ruin the book for anyone.

So much awesome!!

Gemma can time travel!! Which opens up so many doors to things that can be changed. First she tries to save Mira but thats not meant to be. Then she helps Harper save her queen and mother. Then comes Selena. Seeing all the queens together is so promising and amazing. And once the queens are together the true threat is revealed. I cant wait to see how this is all resolved!

Capturing

I have read all the previous series of books. The vampire wish, the Angel trials, the fae and now the 3books so far of the Dragon twins. I love how all the books flow and they truly kept me on edge wanting more. It's the perfect romantic, supernatural adventure I have been on and I can't wait to read book 4 of the Dragon twins. Truly talented writer, Michelle meadow is definitely my choice of author.
