Toxic
Can they catch the killer before it’s game over...for good?
Athena "Thea" Dellis is a pro. So when the captain of her esports team is murdered shortly before the regional championships, Thea is determined to level up and crack the case — just as soon as that pesky FBI agent takes her off the suspect list.
Logan Takeuchi is certain the gamer who collapsed in front of him had ingested a nefarious substance. The question is, how was it administered in the middle of a busy comic-con, surrounded by hundreds of witnesses? And why is the woman dressed as a character from Kingdom Hearts always in the wrong place at the wrong time?
When a second gamer is found AFK for good, it becomes clear that the whole team is on someone’s hit list. Determined to save her colleagues from a disaster that could cost them much more than the championship, Thea joins forces with Logan to track down the killer — but getting involved means the target on her back just got bigger....
Gamer bookworms will love this thrilling, quirky murder mystery, featuring cosplaying MCs, Doctor Who ringtones and some kick-butt action.

This book hits movies, books, games, cosplays, cons—all the references to keep the numerous fandoms happy.
I was kinda longing for the crime story, but not on the heavy side. Nerdy gamer girl who refuses to give in to the threats keeping her from her game and who is not a complete dummy? All hail Thea!
After the murder of a friend, Thea is suspicious of everyone. The circumstances surrounding his death just do not add up. Who better to help than a Doctor Who cosplaying FBI agent? Leigh Hull nailed the perfectly promised "Nerdy meets murder mystery". You get a wide net of geeky references and a murderous plot, what more could you ask for?

This was a really good book. It wasn't a page turner, but I enjoyed it all the same. It is a pretty standard mystery/romance, but with a gamer/cosplay twist that I really enjoyed. Would definitely recommend as a good book to read on a long train ride or the like.
