Ten short chapters, many life lessons to learn.

The basic idea of the entire book that I got is:
First, why wait until our dying moment and repent things before we lose our last breath for nothing?

(Repent all you can while you can, read such books and at least try to improve our messed up lives.)

Second, why should I listen to those who already made it "big" and after having everything try to advice on how the rest of us should live our lives?

(I cannot afford to make all the mistakes and waste my time on them. So I thought I better learn from the mistakes others made which they regret the most, well I cannot say they're real or not, most probably maybe, but I am learning some basic ways to avoid personal calamities and fix things while I can and before I make them worse.)

Plus, there are many life lesson lines which whenever I read or repeat make much sense than the actual advice the people around me give.

As much as we want to ignore our family (though we pretend we do not everyday and constantly living our lives with the basic everyday expression "leave me alone"), we seem to neglect the fact that it's our families that we can rely on at the end of the day no matter how imperfect and annoying they seem to be. And we seem to ignore the ones we should give our attention to and give our best efforts to impress the ones who really do not matter.

So yes, this book made me see some things again which are quite obvious but that we tend to neglect.

This guy doesn't waste words. And I like him quoting so many amazing lines by famous authors and successful people while narrating the lives of people.

And yes, expect the story of The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari to be repeated here in some parts.

It was excellent Book. First book of Robin Sharma and I really liked it. Lots of very nice quotes. I wish this book would have been written when I got married, but it is never too late to read it. This book was recommended by a young well read mother of 2 kids and she gave it to me to read. I practice lots of recommendations in the book, however there are lots of things I will change in my life now. Everyone should read this book, it was worth my time.

Once in a while I go back to Robin Sharma and rewind. Ideas tend to recur in all his books although presented in different manners.... For even for those who hate self help books, his ideas of early rising, finding time for self and keeping a journal are really sound techniques of understanding self

Simple yet powerful lessons. Applicable irrespective of whether one has kids. Lots of techniques apply for improving all facets of interactions and relationships. Some over-use of quotes nevertheless they are deftly put into context. The five masteries elaborated are about:
1 - Leadership in life begins at home
2 - Shift from scolding to molding a leader
3 - Focus on greatness not weakness - strengths based development
4 - Become an excellent person first
5 - Give give give! Leave a legacy behind

Several practical tips on practicing early starts to the day, appreciation, mindfulness, constant learning, journaling, giving, goal setting and follow through, etc.

Essentially this is a repeat of the wisdom found in his other books but with a higher focus on the parenting aspect. 3 stars still because a reminder like this more than welcome!

Julian Mantle, highly successful corporate lawyer turned to the monk who sold his favorite possession- his shiny new Ferrari, comes back to guide his younger sister who has gone through a life altering incident. Full of quotes from great minds & perfect for readers with young kids....

“Most of us miss out on life’s big prizes. The Pulitzer. The Nobel. Oscars. Tonys. Emmys. But we are all eligible for life’s small pleasures. A pat on the back. A kiss behind the ear. A four pound bass. A full moon. An empty parking space. A crackling fire. A great meal. A glorious sunset. Hot soup. Cold beer. Don’t fret about getting life’s grand awards. Enjoy its tiny delights. There are plenty for all of us.”

In the rush of modern life, what small rituals help us stay connected to what matters most?
Reading this book feels like a warm, gentle conversation with a wise old friend.

The story follows Julian Mantle, who, after transforming his own life through discipline and spiritual practices, now mentors his sister and her family on living with greater balance, fulfillment, and love. Through this narrative, Robin Sharma illustrates how principles like mindfulness, gratitude, purpose, and daily rituals can be actively woven into family life.

Tale of the father and son who repaired a vintage car together is awesome. The car became a symbol of their relationship, built piece by piece through consistent, focused effort. It is a powerful metaphor for how we build our family legacies not through grand gestures, but through small, daily rituals.

Robin Sharma reminds us that success without meaningful relationships is hollow. His message about nurturing the people closest to us feels especially urgent in a fast-paced, digitally distracted world.

* True wealth lies not in possessions but in the love, trust, and support within a family.
* Small, consistent habits like shared meals, affirmations, and rituals have the power to transform relationships.
* Nurturing family bonds is one of the most meaningful forms of success.

Great read! Really makes you realize and understand what's truly important to you! Through an incredibly witty and brilliant story plot Robin Sharma helps you understand the teachings of wisdom that free you from the traps of fast paced modern life! - I had to read it in one sitting! I just could not put it down!

He takes you on his journey to enlightenment, which in turn becomes your own journey. He leads you through the steps you will need to master to truly have inner peace. There is a very Zen aspect to this book and the artful and current way that it was written keeps you drawn in, not knowing what to expect next. Continual excitement and character stories peak ones interest.

I would recommend this read to anyone who is looking for a better way to connect with their loved ones. I would also recommend it to people who are not. It definitely makes you think and gives you the power to act. A copy of this belongs on every families bookshelf.

" Knowing exactly what you want for the future of your family protects you from all those negative influences that try and creep into our lives. When your thoughts are crystal clear and you are completely committed to your vision of your family's future, then the opinions of others mean nothing"

Thank you for your wisdom Julian

I loved the first book....The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari.....this one is just as good. Wisdom for both young and old pouring from it's pages. A book you cannot read without a pencil in hand and a book that will be read more than once and referred back to on many occasions. Highly recommended.
