Playing games can have deadly consequences.

After exposing a secret lab and illegal experiments, I assumed the culprits would be held accountable. Unfortunately, I underestimated how deep the corruption within OSA runs. Instead of punishing the actual criminals, OSA expels me.

But that doesn’t mean I’m giving up.

As I dig deeper into the Dumont family’s past, I find a surprising connection to the present. The fae have been manipulating events far longer than anyone suspects, and the Wild Hunt is closing in on any witch who dares to use fae magic—including me.

Dragged into the fae realm, I’m forced to compete in their games where every choice could mean my death. Worse, the fae hold no love for witches, not even those with royal blood. They would rather watch us all die than see one of us emerge victorious.

With the odds stacked against me, there’s only one way to save the boy whose fate is entwined with mine and the other witches brought here against their will.

I have to win.

Fate Sealed is the final book in the Ravencrest Academy series, an exciting YA supernatural academy series with a slow burn rivals-to-lovers romance. Perfect for fans of Bloodline Academy, Paranormal Academy, and Demigods Academy.

Fate Sealed was my favorite book in the Ravencrest Academy Series!  And that’s saying a lot, because I loved the enemies to lovers vibe in the first book, Magic BoundThis story brimmed with action, friendship and love!  And the latter half had a grittiness to it that had me desperately needing to know what happened next!  If you’re looking for a young adult romance, academy series, or a series that makes you want to not stop reading, then definitely give this one a try!
Here, in this moment, there is nothing but the two of us and I let myself get lost in his touch, the rest of the world fading away.

What started out as an enemies to lovers romance, has four books later turned into a beautiful, heartfelt relationship.  I loved how much Tristan and Selene came to rely on one other.  I loved that they had each other's backs.  And that they were able to overcome unfathomable obstacles by working together!  Selene and Tristan were definitely a formable pair, and they were so easy to fall in love with!
It seems the more people I draw into my orbit, the more people get hurt.

There were so many happy moments within these pages!  With Selene and her father, you'll love watching him make the story come alive of how he met her mom.  My heart absolutely soared.  Having all of our friends’ back that we love so much?!  It made this story so much fun!  Her grandparents, Adrian, and so many more shined brightly in this story.  They were unique and added so much heart!
But whatever impressions I had before don’t matter. The stakes have become crystal clear and there’s no room for error.

This story also had so much political intrigue within the human, witch, shifter and fae worlds!  OSA made my blood boil by turning a blind eye to criminals.  The Wild Hunt left me terrified of the fae at every turn.  The blanks, shifters and witches, there are so many things for you to discover about them in this story.  So when you put it all together, it wove a fascinating tale that made this book impossible to put down!
A sense of utter hopelessness takes over as the reality of my situation comes into even sharper focus. I slide down the wall as my legs give out and I end up sitting on the floor, the cold stone sending a chill through my body. My chin drops to my chest and I pull my knees up, curling in on myself as I finally allow the tears to fall.

It felt like at times as though we couldn’t catch our breath.  From being chased, to the games, I kept hoping everyone would be okay.  If you have read Theresa’s other series, you’ll know that not everyone is safe and makes it to that final page.  So when the game started, I was so nervous.  They were intense and put Selene and Tristan in horrific situations.  So with the stakes even higher, and twists and turns that were phenomenal, this story owned me!  And by that final page I even shed a couple of tears ♥.
We’re both sweaty and more than a little dirty, but I don’t care. And neither does he. He takes hold of my face and slams his lips down on mine, a mix of passion and fear and relief turning the kiss into something almost desperate.

This book wrapped up Tristan and Selene’s story so wonderfully!  We got all of the answers we've been desperately waiting for!  Yet there was a thread or two left, which leaves the possibility for a spinoff series.  And I am so excited about that!  So yes, I can’t recommend this series enough.  It’s one that will stay in my heart for a long time to come!

I have finished all four books of this series. I ended up binging the audiobooks. I enjoyed the series very much. I like that this was a plot driven series. There is romance and relationship drama. But much more plot drama.
I also enjoyed the slow burn.

Would give this 3.5/5 stars

I was kind of disappointed in how rushed this book felt. There is still so many questions I have and I feel Selene was robbed of so much. She never got the chance to get to know erolith, she never got to see Marie and Louis get arrested, she never got the chance to see the first meeting for Tristan’s mom and Cecily, there’s just so much that was promised that we never got to see. I also would love to know how erolith and the fae realm solved that problem.

The romance with Selene and Tristan also felt a bit rushed in this book as well. We never got to see them get to know each other or have those conversations you get when you have chemistry with someone. Honestly I felt like there was little to no romance in this book until the very end but even then it was just kinda made as something that was supposed to be obvious to everyone but with little background.

I think this series would’ve been a bit better if the books were a bit longer and more time was spent on each event and their endings instead of Selene coming back and everything has magically been solved.

OSA doesn't believe Selene's story about Marie and Louis Dumont, even though the lab got burned down and then they were missing. Selene is expelled and spends time at her grandparents house. She is supposed to be training with her father. He tells her how he came to know her birth mother. He was sent to investigate Adrians Grandfather who was using a rift and stealing magic from the fae realm. He came with his brother and her old teacher. Their portal was outside of her grandparents house, and her mother kept investigating what they were. He didn't want to hurt her, but his brother did. His brother betrays him, starts working with the Dumont, and her mom gives him a place to heal. Eventually, he gets kidnapped, she is pregnant, leaves Selene with the shifters, and goes to the fae who is blending in as the witch Charles Dumont. He kills her. Her father used his powers to scramble the witch's mind, so this whole time the Dumonts and his brother have no clue how to replicate his experiments.
Selene gets one morning of training with her dad before OSA comes to get her and Adrian. Poor Adrian was turned, starved, and given his old best friend Devin. He killed him and now they found his body. Her grandfather fights the OSA agents, who are probably under Marie's control, and tells her to run. With no real options they go to the Dumont estate, find evidence hidden in Louis's room. They need help getting it unspelled so they go to Tristan. There she is confronted with his mother. She tells them that his sister is alive and both are shocked, his mother baffled and saddened that her daughter would do such a thing. They also see that Isobel has also been kidnapped and experimented on and Tristan's mother helps them find the second lab.
The lab has been rivaled through and cleaned out, but they meet the Shapeshifter, Zee, that tried to talk to her in the last book. They took Isobel and hid her. Isobel has been given fae magic, but cant control it, so she has on iron cuffs on keeping her asleep. They all go to her uncle's house. The next morning Selene and Tristan are kidnapped by Charles Dumont, who is just her glamoured fae uncle. He takes them in to participate in the Hunt. However, Tristan has Unseelie blood, so they are on opposite teams. They find out that 20 contestants on each court will compete. Each has an individual score, whoever has the highest of the 40 will win a fae favor. Then the team who wins will be returned, the losing team will stay and become servants. Most die during the competition. They try to get a plan to get everyone home, but the other witches just keep attacking them. In the end they are the last two to enter the winners circle, so she uses her magic to tie them together and cross the finish line at the exact time, making it a tie between the Seelie and Unseelie. The Fae are not happy but her father comes and outs his brother as a traitor to the Fae. In the distraction of that accusation the King and Queen don't pay much attention when her old teacher creates a portal for them all to leave. Selene knows though, that her father may never be allowed back, she may never see him again. Tristan forces her through the portal.
They are all back at her uncle's place. They have been gone a month and everyone from Basil, the annoying OSA agent, Tristans entire family, her uncle, cousin, grandfather, and her parents plus Adrian, Zee and others are all trying to come up with another plan to get to the Fae world. I believe this was to show that all of the different people could come together for a common cause and didn't have to be enemies. They all have a happy reunion.
Overall, the other drama the other books focused on was solved off page while they were in the Fae realm. Marie and Louis were found and taken in because the OSA agent that's been a pain in the butt worked with Tristans mom with the info Selene found with Adrian. He has routed out the local OSA agents working with Marie. It was a little anticlimactic, even Selene feeling off by people saying she was a hero when she wasn't the one who took them down. Her cousin Reid gets her to understand that she is a teenager, one who did a lot, but no one expects her to do everything by herself. She is about to start school again, and now Shifters are allowed in. Apparently, Penny was right, Shifters are magic so they can do a bit with it. Now Reid going to school with her. Isobel was given Fae magic, she is as strong as Selene, but it's all different, so they are helping each other with the help of Basil. It ended with Tristan and Selene together, him truly happy, no longer having to pretend. Selene also knows she has found her place and her people, she may not know what she will do in the future, but she knows she won't be alone while figuring it out.

Shifters-Witches-Vampires/Academy/Single PoA

SYNOPSIS (of 4 Book Series): The FC, Selene, was left with shifters by her mother when she was a baby. She was raised by shifters thinking she was a witch with no powers but discovers that actually she has strong powers but they were bound at birth. The story is set in a world where shifters and witches do not get on and there is pressure for shifters to be regulated by witches. The FC is sent to Ravencrest, an elite Academy, to learn about her powers and to integrate with witches. There she meets the MC, Tristram, a powerful witch from a wealthy family that hates shifters. The story revolves around the FC finding out more about her background and her powers, her developing relationship with the MC and the fight between the witches and shifters over control.

Heat Level: 🌶️🥶 This is not slow burn so much as no burn. There are limited scenes between the MC and FC and these only amount to a few heated kisses over the series. That would be fine if there was any real sense of romance or chemistry between the MC and the FC but I found very little.

Whilst decently written the story is trite and unoriginal. That would be fine if the story was at least told well but for me it wasn’t. There was a lack of any real background or relationship development and the characters all seemed to be caricatures. For example, you only really find out what happened to the FC’s mother at the end and in passing. The FC seems to be distinctly uninterested in learning about what happened to her mother or why or who her father is. Surely you’d at least be a little interested? Even when you do have the “unveiling” of the FC’s parent’s history it is one dimensional and lacks any degree of emotion. In fact you don’t get the sense that there was any great love story between the FC’s father and mother (which makes no sense) or that the father cares at all about his long lost daughter. It felt very disconnected.

There is limited development of any romantic relationship between the FC and the MC. The MC comes across as actually quite weak and pathetic both physically and mentally and the FC came across as annoying and a bit too arrogant in her behaviour. I found it hard to relate to either of them. One minute they hate each other then suddenly they’re “sealed” together 🙄

Unfortunately this is yet another long series (4 books) that drags you along (I was skim reading quite a bit after book 2) with litte happening only to have a “climax” that is completely unsatisfactory and seemed to happened when the FC and MC were not around. The main villains don’t even get any justice that you can see. One minute they are untouchable, no one believes the FC and everyone is after her and the next minute they are apparently in custody. Made no sense especially after the excuse of the dramatic “gladiator” scene which I assume the author intended to bring some drama to the climax but which just came out of the blue and added nothing to the story.

I hate to leave this review because I loved the first two books of this series so much, but this final book was disappointing.

The entire thing felt rushed—frequently telling the reader what happened rather than showing it. The story even jumped forward months after the last book’s cliffhanger and sort of just info-dumped what happened in the in-between. The confrontation between Selene and OSA was super important to the plot, and it was really odd that the book never showed that.

The pacing was another problem, which was surprising because the other books in the series typically hold good pacing structures. There was so much potential with The Hunt storyline, but it was simply dropped in towards at the end, and it wasn’t meaningfully explored. The Hunt was such an interesting idea from the author, and I would have loved to see more of it.

The book tried to cover many loose ends, and instead of intertwining the arcs and solutions into a cohesive, connected story, it separated them out into disconnected problems and solutions. It decreased the mounting tension and created a sense of whiplash.

In this vein, characters seemed randomly inserted and removed from the story. A character would be introduced as if they were really important, but then they’d just disappear after a chapter. Character development was my favorite part of the first book, so I found this really disappointing and even surprising.

Finally, the chemistry between Tristan and Selene that I’ve LOVED in books past was missing here. They never had a moment to deepen their connection, and their relationship seemed to almost regress compared to earlier books. I even wondered if I was misremembering the first books, but I double checked earlier scenes and my memory was right. I understand that relationships grow and change, but this didn’t even seem like the same two people.

Overall, I just felt bummed because the story had a lot of potential.

I’m always going to love the first couple books though :) They were awesome!

I loved it!

It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. Welcome to Ravencrest Academy. This series is a slow burn, rivals-to-lovers romance. Playing games can have deadly consequences. After exposing a secret lab and illegal experiments, Selene assumed the culprits would be held accountable. Unfortunately, she underestimated how deep the corruption within OSA runs. Instead of punishing the actual criminals, OSA expels her, but that doesn’t mean she’s giving up. As she digs deeper into the Dumont family’s past, she finds a surprising connection to the present. The fae have been manipulating events far longer than anyone suspects, and the Wild Hunt is closing in on any witch who dares to use fae magic, including her. They would rather watch them all die than see one of them emerge victorious. With the odds stacked against her, there’s only one way to save the boy whose fate is entwined with her’s and the other witches brought here against their will, she has to win. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. I love the ending and I can’t wait for spin off series, there is many character’s stories that could be written. I highly recommend to everyone.

What I like about the story is the little bonding session between Erolith and Selene, Isobel's rescue mission, the opportunity to explore the Fae realm and the hunt challenges. However, there are several aspects that I found unappealing. I feel the book failed to provide Selene with a well-deserved ending. This is not the conclusion I had in mind! I’m not even feeling the HEA vibes😢.

Everything felt rushed the moment they were escorted out of the Fae realm. I would have preferred if the arrests of Marie had been postponed until their return and followed by the reunion between Cecily's family. Additionally, the uncertain fate of Erolith and Drahvin left me feeling dissatisfied. As a result, this book receives only four stars instead of a full five.

As for the spin-off, I would like to propose the story of Isobel and Adrian. Additionally, please include the Fae’s realm and provide an update on what happens with Erolith and Drahvin. Thank you!

I'm about to dive into the Broken Skies series since I haven't had the chance to read them yet. I hope the earlier series written by Theresa Kay live up to my expectations!

I am a sucker for a fantasy academia series on Kindle Unlimated, I always fall down the rabbit hole when I start.

I managed to get the first book on stuff your kindle day and the rest were available on KU!

It was an okay series, I found to the end of the series I started to drag my feet a little bit with finishing it.
It gave off an enemies to lover vibe to start off with between Selene and Tristan, you see their relationship grow at the books progress. I think Tritian had a good character development, to start off with he was quite hostile as he was under his mother's thumb as she had something over him. I loved watching him slowly progress and stand up to her.

Selene went from her found family, to finally meeting her father. After being thrusted into the magical community after the magical block on her power was lifted. I am not going to lie, I did find her a little whiny in some parts, but as a whole I liked her as a character.

Overall it was an okay series, I would read more of her other series which I know are linked up with this one.

a bit anti climatic

This series had a lot of potential but I have to honest and say this book was anti climatic and felt rushed .
The first three books spent a lot of time building a lot of issues up only for them to kind of just disappear throughout this book.
I don’t want to put details in to avoid spoilers but I kind of felt like I was reading a plot line with a lot of details missing - in particular details of Selene getting to know her biological dad - we get one and a half scenes really , there’s no details about how the dumounts are finally brought down just that they were , Selene and Tristen are blocked from each-other just to suddenly be ok and in love in one small moment , Tristen discovers the secret about his sister but we don’t see that play out , isobel… Adrian … even penny just lots of holes
I do hope there’s spin offs so that the rest of those details get to play out properly - for now though I’m a little disappointed .

I honestly don’t know how to feel about that ending. I was expecting much more than that. I felt like nothing was really happening in the book, and then everything happened at once. Not the best. I really did enjoy this book, I just wish it was a bit longer so it could’ve fit things better. I thought that when Selene and her parents reunited, it would be magical. Instead, it felt very rushed and it definitely could have been done better. They were gone for like, I don’t know, 4 BOOKS! Also, why did it end without her fae father coming back? That just made me mad. The book started out good, but because it was so rushed, it went downhill. I also wanted to see Tristan and his sister actually reunite instead of that one little paragraph that described their eyes as shiny or whatever. Anyways, I just think this book could have been better thought out, but it was still good.

Did audio

I was worried when we were getting to the end as it felt like she wouldn’t end it well. But the epilogue smoothed that over.

I didn’t like it as much as the others but it was still good. More “action” In This one. We ended very far away from how the books began. Not in a bad way. Just that the plot changed/moved forward. The …”trials” chapters could have been a bit more …involved maybe. I felt like a lot was narrated in regard to what was happening but not much dialogue or first person view. Well I guess it was a first person view but i don’t know. It felt like someone recounting what was happening instead of me being IN IT with them and feeling the fear and emotions etc.

As a whole I give this SERIES 3.5 stars. It was a fun ride. Nothing serious. Light-hearted fantasy (In vibes not context. Some stuff went DOWN in these books lol ). It’s great for a palate cleanse or if you have a car ride and you want something engaging but doesn’t require EXTREME focus. I’m sure you know what I mean.

Disappointed

I waited over a year to read this book and I was disappointed in the final story. I believe there was so much more that could have been written. I believe the storyline involving the labs was a missed opportunity and should have been expanded on. I felt like their readers were left in the dark since so much supposedly happened while Selene and Tristan were in the Fae lands. I also believe the storyline with the bio dad was a missed area as well. I fell like there could have been another book. Final, it was like the story ended with any true ending. I was so exited to read this final book, but found it lacking.

Fate sealed

What a conclusion to our time at Ravencrest Academy.

This book perfectly tied up all those loose ends and answered all those questions that I needed the answers for.

The time in the Fae realm was absolutely unreal. Selene and Tristan made it through an unbelievable trial, and they did it with each others safety at the forefront on their minds.

Selenes' last act in the game was a stroke of genius.

Loved everything about this series it is one of those series that absolutely kept you on your toes because so much happened in these 4 books, and the anticipation was absolutely worth it.

This definitely won't be my last book from Theresa Kay.

I have to say, reading this last book felt like a chore. It didn'tquite fit in with the rest of the series.

For starters, it didn't take place in the academy, at all.

Secondly, what happened to Selene and Tristan's relationship? It felt like it was barely there during this book, and, despite discovering that their magic was linked, nothing was really done about it. The info was just thrown in the air from time to time.

Also, what happened to Selene's adoptive parents? They just fell off the map completely.

All in all, this series left a lot of untied ends.

Fate Sealed was definitely a step up from the previous books in the series. The pacing was tighter, the stakes were higher, and the character development really started to shine. There’s a nice balance between action and emotional depth, making it a more engaging read overall. While it still wasn’t a complete game-changer for me, it definitely improved on the earlier books and left me wanting to see what comes next.

A solid 4-star read—better than the previous installments and showing a lot of promise for the series!

2.5

So I didn't love the conclusion to this series. The book itself had the same fun and easy energy, but for being the final book in the series it really lacked a conclusion. I just feel the ending was rushed. The author left room to explore other characters for possible spinoffs, but for Selene and Tristan the story is over and we didn't get a lot of their relationship to be satisfying. I think the Hunt was pretty unnecessary and didn't add much to the story at all. That could have been taken out and that page time could have been spent on character relationships.

Good but definitely not what I expected

This was definitely not the story that I expected. So much was left out and I feel like the story was left wide open for Selene. I felt she was robbed of a father, and robbed of seeing Marie and Louis being caught. Robbed of fighting for the meeting between Tristan’s mom and his sister. So much was left out. I think this is the end of my reading from this author. This book did me in. Oh well on to another new author I guess.

I honestly couldn't tell if I absolutely hated this book or if I loved it. There were SO MANY loose ties and unanswered questions. While the last chapter was pretty good, I couldn't tell if it was aiming for a bittersweet or a happy ending; that just made it annoying. I think the most entertaining part was when they were fighting for their lives. An okay read if you like that type of thing, I guess.

I really only read this series for a fun in between other series. It is a fun book, but at the end very dissatisfying. I read the ebook, and when my little ticker at the bottom said I was 90% done I thought to myself is this really the last book? How is the author going to close off this story in a few chapters? Well, it was done. Poorly.
Oh well.

The whole series could have used more breathing room. In this finale, we go to an entirely different realm, but not until the second half of the book, and we barely get a taste of it before the book is abruptly done, wrapped up, ta da.

The author implies spin-offs with other characters are on the table so maybe there'll be more opportunity to learn about the world....

Fate Sealed (Ravencrest Academy book 4)

I absolutely loved this book and the ones before it and could hardly put them down. I loved the Maine female character and her love interest and how they didn't automatically fall in love and family dynamics between all the characters and their families as well.

I can't wait to read more books from you.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable series. I'm not great at writing reviews but this was a fun read. Witches and Fae and Shifters (oh my!) Takes place mostly at a secondary school called Ravencrest Academy. The main characters have adventures, misadventures and lots of magic. Read thru the series in about 4 days. Recommend it.

Great series

Thoroughly enjoyed this series of books. I couldn't put them down. The author deals with plots, friendships rivalry and love with twists and turns which keeps your interest and hunger for wanting to see what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Enjoyed this book but wasn't my favourite in the series. I felt it was a bit rushed especially toward the end. With all the build up of the Dumont's this way it ended for them was a damp squib. Excellent series none the less.

Sweet

We get to learn more about Selene her powers and watch the struggles her and Tristan face in their relationship. We get to meet at least one of her parents and learn what happened to the other. We see changes being made and new alliances happen.

Probably more of a 3.5/5 stars. I just felt like the conclusion wasn’t satisfying. I know the author left room for more series but I felt like the very end was a bit rushed.

Lots of action in this book but I miss the romance with Tristen. Selene never got to date him before being a couple and she had no closure with her father. I liked this series but wish it had ended differently.
