The light-hearted isekai tale about a fantasy pharmacist that inspired the anime! (And don't miss the original light novels, also from Seven Seas!)
When corporate drone Reiji wakes up in another world, he comes face-to-face with a fatally wounded werewolf. Thankfully, Reiji's new Medicine Maker skill enables him to brew uniquely effective potions. Alongside his new wolf-girl friend, Reiji and his amazing cures are ready to revolutionize this fantasy world. Be they an old man seeking the secret of youth or an elven archer with blurry vision, all comers are welcome to his countryside pharmacy.
After reading the first one and loving it so much, I immediately wanted to read the second one in the series, and thankfully, i was not disappointed.
This book is a lot like the first. the main character from the first one with his ability to create amazing potions easily in a fantasy world kind of just has...slice of life vignettes. Like in one he'll create shampoo, in the next he'll do laundry detergent. His abilities are overpowered, but not in a way that's not endearing.
He's not a gary stu who can kill enemies with one hit because he "maxed out on his defense" or "is a prodigy even in another world" he's just really good at making potions. and they're never earth shattering. like i said, he'll make iron polisher or beauty cream. That kind of overpowered ability. And this kind, i'm okay with.
The side characters continue to be fine as well as we're introduced to a few more. A Demon king who loves the wolfgirl, a lake spirit, and an armor store owner to name a few and they're all fine. there's no character i can't stand and hate every moment they're around, which is rare.
Basically if you read the first story, you're going to get what you got in that one, in this one. A series of short slice of life adventures with the main character making some sort of new potion that results in wacky hijinks. It's cute, fun, and a very nice breath of fresh air where you know for a fact that no one will get hurt or killed. in fact it's usually the opposite as he helps people with his potions.
It's just as relaxing and cute as the first novel and i'm ABSOLUTELY reading number 3.
