Having read and enjoyed choose your own adventures when I was a kid, I wanted to revisit the experience. This one wasn't bad and I was surprised you're not just looking for a Kraken but two other mythical monsters.
My favorite story line, was the Kraken one. I felt like at least you encounter the Kraken. I understand this book is based more on reality instead of fiction. Otherwise I'm sure there would have been pirates. In fact I enjoyed the facts and photos scattered throughout the book. But from the title I expected more of a definite encounter with what we would consider a Kraken. Instead and this is true with the other creatures (the Megalodon and a sea serpent) we're not given anything concrete since none of these animals have been proven to exist. So if you want an experience of a more fantastical nature. I wouldn't choose this one. If you want something based more on fact than fiction. Then I say go for it. As for myself I wanted more fantasy so that's why I dropped it half a star. Still I did enjoy going through the various stories and choices.
