**fingers skittle across the keyboard. Stop. Eyelids blink over the top**

Oh, was this bio day? Oops! I forgot. I was lost in my latest manuscript. Umm... bio. Yeah.

Hi! I’m Chautona Havig. (for those who care, that’s Shuh-TONE-uh HAVE-ig). Yeah. Just work with me here. I should have used a pseudonym, but when you grow up with a name like Chautona, it kind of sticks.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. ~ Hebrews 10: 23–25

Those aren’t just words on a page for me–they’re why I write. I write to encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ. The stories I create are to make people laugh, cry, question, consider.

They’re for you.

When the world screams for hope, I try to point you to the true Source of hope–Jesus.

Sometimes life in the church no longer seems a refuge from the pain of a self-serving world around us, but through my stories, I try to point you to the only Refuge that can truly help–the Father’s Everlasting Arms.

And sometimes we just need an escape from the monotony, the emptiness we see around us. We need joy, laughter–what I like to call “just the write escape.”

Christian fiction without apology or pretense–lived, not preached.
What does that even mean?
It means I care–about you. About your walk with Jesus. I care about the words you put before your eyes, the mental pictures those words conjure. It’s difficult to express just how much I love my brothers and sisters in Christ. It’s difficult to share just how much I love you.

But I do.

And I write for you. I sit in my little house in California’s Mojave Desert and I write to show you why one sister believes one thing, why a brother believes another. I write to show you how some Christians handle trials or triumphs–for you. So when you’re faced with something–good or bad, it doesn’t matter–maybe it’ll spark a memory. Maybe that memory will smolder until you pull out your Bible and see what the Lord said about it–about His great love for you. For YOU!

And maybe, just maybe, you’ll share that love with another hurting, confused, or blessed-with-more-than-she-knows-what-to-do-with soul.

I just happen to think that’s the most blessed giving anyone could hope to receive.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a great companion to the Hearthland series by the same author. It is also several other stories all woven together. I had to keep turning the pages to find out if everyone ended up safe! Some of these threads were mysteries, and one is a romance, which is still not resolved in this fourth volume of the series. I'm looking forward to reading the next book, whenever it is written!

While I always like Chautona's books and have a hard time putting them down, I felt a little lost reading this book. I expected to enjoy it since I've loved all the other Agency Files books, but I was so confused for so much of the book! Now that I am reading the HearthLand Series, I know that I should have read HearthLand first or at least part of it. I think I'll re-read this book once I've finished HearthLand and see if I feel less confused, but I wanted to get a review out for now to let people know to read BOTH HearthLand and the other Agency Files books before attempting this book. You will enjoy it so much more!

UPDATE: After catching up in HearthLand, I went back and reread all the relevant parts in A Forgotten Truth and, WOW! what a difference! There were so many things I missed my first time reading it, so many nuances that I just totally missed because I didn't know the HearthLand world. I loved the Annie parts of the book on my second reading and was able to really enjoy Keith and Erika's interactions without the cloud of confusion over my head! How I would love for Annie to get to meet Erika someday! That would be so fun! I really liked how this book explored the other side of Annie's story by meeting her "bad guy." That was not how I would have imagined him from HearthLand but it totally works.

Chautona got me again in this book by getting me attached to a character and then having them die. I was so shocked! And this time, it didn't feel as necessary to move the story forward as it did in the last book, but perhaps it will be later.

Even after reading HearthLand, I still feel pretty lost on a number of the story lines. It just felt like too much was going on with this book. With the whole Shin story, I'm not feeling attached to them and don't really know what's going on with them. We'll see what happens with them in the next book. I'm clueless as to who Paris and Henry are. I think they were introduced in this book, but maybe I should know them from somewhere else? I just felt like Keith must be able to teleport in this book because we bounced around between so many different cases, my head was spinning! Add to that the mystery of Mark plus his relationship with Claire and the Flynne/Tyler thing plus the who's the mole? and Karen and Brian and Will and Georgia and Mandy Sue and the Russians and...I was just confused.

Overall, the Erika storyline is the best part of this book! And that is as it should be since it's been Keith and Erika throughout the series. The growth we've seen in her has been lovely to watch. I don't agree with many of the decisions Keith has made in this relationship but it seems like it might work out for them after all. We shall see.

Love All Of It

Loved this book !! The story moved along with it's espionage theme while keeping profanities out of it. Most books of this caliper don't introduce faith or Christ into the storyline. ( I appreciated that so much Chautona.) I loved the characters, especially Agent Keith and Erika's relationship. You'll adore Flynne.
If you're like me and have stopped reading great authors because of the inappropriate language you'll enjoy this who did what to whom novel. She's a great author that shares her faith in an amazing way.

Agency Files (and author, Chautona Havig) - totes impressive!

I have never read anything by this author that I didn’t enjoy. The first few I read of hers were part of a series where each book was written by a different author, though, and I only read hers, so it didn’t have the continuity that The Agency Files offers. WOW. It is SO connected and the characters are super believable and relatable. I hear there are audiobooks out for the first couple of books with the whole series coming out as soon as production is completed; but I can NOT wait for that! I’m off to start the next book, like NOW. I’ll get the audios, too, as they become available. These books are THAT good.

I always find the mystery of what is going on, how they discern what is really happening, how they read people, how they defend and protect people etc. super interesting.

But of course, most of all, I love the scriptures and application of scripture .

I do occasionally get a little lost, as there are a lot of characters, and I forget for a while who is who, but still, can continue reading and find out eventually. That does not happen often because those are not the main characters, but do play a in the situations.

Alive or dead or both?

What happens when you’re dead but not really? Or alive but not really?

Chautona does it again! She keeps me spell bound and where I just can’t put the book down.

I love that Keith and Erika’s story as well as the developing stories or Mark and Claire as well as Flynne and Tyler keep going.

The new characters are fun and I really loved meeting Georgia.

Highly recommend and can’t wait to start on book five myself.

Turn twisting great mystery

I loved this book! The continuation of the teams story is one I love to read. The twists and turns and trying to figure it out before it’s revealed is fun! I love how the author develops the stories and the characters. I definitely recommend that you read all 4 in this series!

What a ride!

Loved this book! It was one rollercoaster ride away from being permanently glued to my Kindle for life. I loved seeing Keith become the abducted needing protection he didn't want. If you like clean thrillers you can go wrong with A Forgotten Truth. I highly recommend this whole series.

This was, as Paul Harvey would say.... The REST of the story for me. I read half of this story in Heartland and never dreamed this was the way it all really happened. All these details never even hinted at there...it all made me stop and ask what would I have done...and did the agency make the right call?

Too many missing words

The first couple of books in this series were pretty clean and we'll edited. You should be just as thorough in the later books...

I felt that the plot was a little more confusing than the other books in the series with so many new characters, but I still really enjoyed the mystery/suspense aspect of it!

good

A continuing of the prior books in this series. They aren’t stand alone reads. So, start with book one. A very good series! Great characters that return in each book and have their own lives apart from their jobs!

The Agency Files Rocks!

I love to read and prefer fast paced mysteries without profanity and explicit content. The Agency books fulfill my expectations and are worth the read. Enjoyable, exciting, surprising and a great mystery along the way. I highly recommend them.

Warning - This review contains spoilers.

This is a continuation of The Agency Files (Bk 4)and includes the usual cast of characters with a few additions. I had recently read the first three in the series back to back after discovering this author. The stories in each one drew me in right away but this one didn't 'hook me' right away. Took a bit for me to get into. Keith and Erika are continuing on with their relationship, with Keith praying that Erika will come to accept Christ and Erika reading, asking questions either of Keith or her dad who recently converted.

There are a couple of different clients in the story for the agents to protect, Annie and Ryan. Ryan is running from the Russian mafia, slips on a truck ladder and falls hitting his head which gives him amnesia. All he can remember is that he has to run. All types of agencies are on the lookout for him. Annie is tied in to his problems with the Russians even though she doesn't realize it but does come into The Agency's protective grasp.

Overall I ended up liking the book but there were several things that either felt rushed and not explained very well or left me feeling disappointed in how they were handled. The ways this series runs could mean that they are mentioned/explained in a later book, maybe. First off, I don't know why Mark (Agency head) had his appearance changed as it was never really explained. Second, the way things ended with Ryan felt rushed to me like the author just wanted to get that part over with. Third, which was the disappointment to me, was when Erika finally took the step to become a Christian. The reader has pretty much been waiting for the decision to be made through the first three books in the series but when it was finally reached, there was hardly any time spent on it. She tells Keith that she wants to be baptized the following morning by her dad but then nothing about it was ever described even though Keith left his team to go see a former client be baptized and had that described. The only reason that you know Erika's baptism happened was because toward the end in an Agency meeting, someone mentioned that she was baptized that morning.

There were a couple of other items not really explained that I felt could have used it but these were the ones that got to me the most as a reader. They will not however keep me from reading more in the series when the next one should come out which is next year I believe.

Reread 2023: Funny, on the reread this was actually one of my favorites. Less mature content than the last one, book overall was better done than I remembered. Still probably a 3 stars, tho.

1. This book was awesome, like all the others were (particularly as it resolved some of what I hated/loved about book 3).
2. That said...it was less memorable. Not as impactful. And some of the parts I just didn't like. But I loved the rest.
3. Bioterrorism isn't my favorite plot. Really isn't. But the amnesia plot was pretty cool, and it got this book to a 3.4 (but not quite enough to round it to 4 stars). If I read it again, I'd probably bump it up to 4 stars.
4. Read this book if you liked the rest in this series. It's worth it. But the other ones are better.
5. (As usual with this series, on the mature side, definitely 18+)

Another hit in the Agency File series. Filled with suspense, intrigue, and multiple interwoven subplots, "A Forgitten Trurh" is a great novel.

Chautona Havig certainly knows how to bring her characters to life, how to weave multiple plots together to create a larger one, and how to hold the reader's attention from the very beginning. She has a truly wonderful and unique writing style that being her characters and books alive. She has yet to disappoint this reader.
I highly recommend "A Forgotten truth as a great addition to The Agency Files collection, to readers who enjoy suspense and who want to a wonderful next read.

Christian fiction I actually liked!

I have to admit Christian fiction is not something I normally read. But I have to admit these books hooked me because of the believable characters that you cannot wait to meet again. Keith is my favorite character, but all of the characters are interesting and people you root for. If I have a complaint is the books can get a little preachy. I did like they were imperfect and sometimes struggled with their faith and the choices they make. Romance is pretty light, this made the books somewhat unbelievable, especially in this day and age. But for storylines, believable interesting characters, and good action these books are good reads.

6 star read!

This is more than a five star read.

An excellent series. It will grip you right at the start and you’ll end up binge reading all 5 books (you’ve been warned!)… but totally worth it !

This is written from multiple POV, there is mystery suspense and action, believable and done just right - not too fast, not too slow, not too much, bit too little. There is romance (although not the primary focus) and there is faith. Oh the faith element is masterfully done.

This is a series that you want to read in order. Each book is standalone in that it has a satisfying conclusion but there are some threads that carry through the series ending in the last book.

If you're like me and LOVE, "Who Done It" stories then this is the series for you!
Lots of action, suspense, and a bit of romance. I loved this whole Series!
The whole concept of kidnapping someone to protect them, then not really knowing who to trust Wow!
So many things can and do go wrong in this story yet the Agency stands firm.
I'm still trying to figure all the side stories out.
I can't wait for more!

Love this series and was so excited to read it.
I did have a hard time trying to keep all the characters straight so what I plan to do is read all four books back to back to keep them all fresh.

Chautona Havig, has a way of making a nonbeliever understand God's Word without making them feel stupid or that they will never get it.
