After Savage Empire i needed to know what happened,and when Bri Blackwood sent me the ARC of Scarred Empire,i was eager to find out.
Keeping in mind this is her second book,i focussed again on the story itself and followed Anais and Damian as they reunited.
The fact her father was shot makes Damian force her to accept his protection and stay with him again.
He promises to take care of everything.....as long as she marries him.
Anais has no choice,but to accept in the end.
Even though she’s convinced their engagement will only last until the threat is gone.
The way Damian treats her most of the time isn’t reassuring her he wants her to actually marry him,anyway....
That doesn’t stop her developing feelings for him though,even if she’s sure he doesn’t feel the same.
The threat is still there,and no real answers are found.
The cliffhanger is another killer that leaves me wanting to know more.
There are a few issues,but i pointed them out to the author,and am sure she’ll pick those up.
This is a good story,that still has me invested in wanting to read the final part.

First..... Bri Blackwood you are killing me with the cliffhangers. If the cliffhanger in the first book was bad enough this one has me screaming in my head. I literally have no words, but I am still trying to wrap my head around what I just read. Let me first start out by saying once you start this book you aren't going to want to stop so make sure you have a free day to do so.
Just when Anais thought she was done with Damien he comes crashing back into her life. His need to protect her is strong, and will do anything in his power to make sure that happens. Their chemistry is fire, and it is undeniable. Will they actually come to terms with the actual feelings that they are having for each other is the question that remains to be answered.
If you loved the first one you are going to love this one even more. If you haven't read the first one you need to like now. Bri Blackwood has officially made me a fan of hers after reading this second one. Can we please have the third one now???

Hands down I think this one is way better than the first book. I really like Damien. Anais was better in this book as well I thought. I had some suspicions about what I thought was going to happen in this book, and I was correct on a couple of them. I won't say what those are because I don't want to spoil anything. The inner dialogue was a little much at times. They both kept saying the same things without saying things to each other. I'm really hoping this is resolved in the next book. This cliffhanger was pretty good. I predicted one part of it but was surprised by the other. Looking forward to the next book!

This sequel hit all the right places! Loved the difference in the character's personas as the story grew. Both so unwillingly to say what they need to say to the other. All of the characters in this series flow so well together. And...there is no possible way that letter at the end is really real? Right?! WHAT?!?!? So excited for the next one!

Wow. Ich habe sehnsüchtig auf die Fortsetzung der Reihe gewartet. Der Cliffhänger aus dem ersten Teil war gemein. Bei diesem Buch handelt es sich um den zweiten Teil der Reihe. Man sollte auf jeden Fall den ersten Teil gelesen haben. Nach dem Cliffhänger aus dem ersten Teil wollte ich unbedingt wissen wie das Buch weitergeht. Ich wurde nicht enttäuscht. Worum es im Buch geht könnt ihr im Klappentext nachlesen. Anais und Damien sind zwei wundervolle Charaktere. Beide sind super beschrieben und kommen sehr sympathisch rüber. Es geht spannend weiter. Das Buch hat wirklich alles was man sich wünscht. Ich konnte das Buch nicht aus der Hand legen. Das Cover passt perfekt zum Buch. Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist absolut fesselnd und mitreißend. Ich liebe die unterschiedlichen Perspektiven, da man sich dadurch super in die Charaktere hineinversetzen kann. Auch dieser Teil endet wieder mit einem Cliffhänger. Ich liebe Cliffhänger, weil es spannend bleibt, aber gleichzeitig hasse ich Cliffhänger, da man solange auf den nächsten Teil warten muss. Ich warte sehnsüchtig auf den dritten Teil. Die Spannung bleibt auf jeden Fall bestehen. Danke für die tollen Lesestunden. Ich kann es kaum erwarten. ❤️❤️❤️

GREAT second book of the series
Thoroughly enjoyed this book, really great tension, sexy hot, characters are so engaging. You can really feel the anger and frustration coming from Aria with Damien when he continually pushes her buttons, although it's a totally different set of buttons he pleasures her with behind closed doors, he totally blows her mind!
I've definitely warmed up to Damien "he's soooooo hot" and one very sexy guy! I bought this book as well as the first one and I have pre-ordered the last in the trilogy. I have thoroughly enjoyed both books so far, a very good story I can only advise you to read this trilogy it has everything you could want. Roll on book 3 😍😍

Watch out for the cliffhanger!!
This is book two in Anais and Damien's story, be sure to read book one in the Broken Cross series. This story is fabulous and just sucks you right in from book. It keeps you intrigued and wanting more. Definitely looking forward to book three.

Book 2 didn't disappoint 👌 Damien and Anais relationship develops beautifully. Damien is so alpha but has found his match. The push and pull. 🔥 🔥 I won't spoil it for anyone but damn these cliffhangers are killing me. I need more. Absolutely loved this series 👏❤

A great follow-up to Savage Empire
After that shock ending, this book jumps straight back in to the action where Savage Empire finished. I half-guessed the truth of what had happened but that didn't spoil anything for me. Who doesn't love to be proved right?
I loved seeing Damien's confusion about his attraction and feelings for Anais. He does not do relationships so this.... whatever it is... he has with Anais has him in a spin. We only get a few chapters from his POV but I really appreciated hearing from him and seeing his turmoil. He definitely has a lot to learn about women, especially the one woman who is constantly in his thoughts. The conversation with his brother had me laughing out loud.
This book is a little more dark than the first one, not so much in the sex but in the glimpses we get into Damien's way of doing business, and also the anticipation of the fallout from the ending, which I did not see coming.
Anais and Damien continued to pull me in to their story and the pages kept on turning until I reached the end before I even realised it. The action flowed well and with yet another cliff-hanger, this one worse than the last, I was completely hooked and can't wait for Steel Empire.

Scarred Empire is the perfect follow up to Savage Empire! I cannot get enough of Damien and Anais!
There are so many pieces to Damien and Anais, they are like a puzzle you have to piece together piece by piece. While they both want the same thing they aren't even on the same book. Their lack of communication and trust in each other is a blinding issue.
I love the push/pull relationship they have going on. One minute they want each other and the next one wants to kill the other. But their battles aren't so much with each other as themselves.
With her father being shot and not knowing who did it Damien is taking no chances with Anais safety. While this methods of protecting her are a tad to the left they come from a good place. I think he blackmails her because he feels it's the only way to get her to be with him when in fact she's crazy about him and all he has to do it ask and mean it.

Scarred Empire is book 2 of the Broken Cross series, it does not stand alone, to understand what is going on you must read Savage Empire first.
Now, I have to say Bri Blackwood is a bit mean, she keeps leaving us with these cliffies! This book picks up right from where book 1 left off. Anais is once again put in a situation where she must make a "deal" with Damian for her safety and her family's livelihood. Frankly, I'm not mad about it. The chemistry between Damian and Anais is HOT. I love that some of the conflicts in this book are more than business, Damian is really beginning to get personal with Anias and I am here for that! The downside to this is that the more personal things get the more danger our couple seem to be in.
Once again we are left needing more! I can not wait to see what happens next!

Scarred Empire is the second book in the Broken Cross trilogy so there's no way around the fact that YOU MUST READ Savage Empire (Book 1) FIRST! It also picks right back off from the cliffhanger that happened at the end of Book 1, and man, I did NOT see the beginning coming to be honest as Bri Blackwood is totally keeping it fresh. Anais thought she was done with Damien, but she would be wrong. In order for the protection she needs, he's given her a new contract that she decides to sign finally. I seriously have a love/hate relationship with Damien as he's very high handed, and yet, the alpha (not his punishments though) in him also has me falling so I'm a very conflicted reader. However, since I'm dying inside for the conclusion, I suspect that he'll find his way into my heart so stay tuned! I LOVE this trilogy and while I'm ready to see how it all plays out, I'll also be sad when it's all over! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

There was just no development in the character romance. Every time they interacted with each other they were having sex and yet the author wanted us to believe they were falling in love. Why the MMC states he is obsessed with her yet doesn’t talk to her in casual conversation he just tell her what they are doing she argues for like 3 lines then she gives in. His brothers told him to let her run the engagement announcement and he still didn’t listen, he knew she didn’t like the ring but didn’t care. And he straight up called her hoe and she just walked away sat on her bed and when he came to say sorry she was just like it’s okay. WHAT!! I was so mad reading this book because it had the bones to be a good book, I have no interest in finishing the series because I’m sure they are going to out of nowhere declare their love for one another and It’s gonna make me mad.

And it starts with a surprise you didn't see coming.
The story continues the story of Anais and the bad boy Damien, who you as a reader have a hate love thing for. As a reader you get more I sight in him, but for Anais he is incredibly rude and acting stupid.
I love the book and can't wait for the next one.
This has some very surprising plot twists with the cliffhanger being even worse than the one from book 1. You are actually trying to kill your readers with those cliffhangers.
This ook concentrates on who shot Anais's dad and the new contract Damien has thought of to keep Anais safe.
Dont want to spoil things, but I'm dying to tell about what happens in this book.

What a masterful web this author continues to weave...
The story of Anais & Damien continues & my heart is racing. I won't detail the story but this is another powerful page turner from this remarkable author who drags you in & just when you think you're close to a big reveal she spits you out & your head is spinning. Dark & dangerous but tantalizing & oh so sexy. I'm falling for the hero who is a controlling dom. He has a commanding but caring & kind side to him for the woman who could possibly end up controlling him. Anais is French for grace but this one is gutsy & smart & although she quite likes her sub role she's no pushover. Another cliffhanger which only serves to make me impatient for the next book in this series. Highly recommended. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.

WOW.. Scarred Empire is a phenomenal book in the Broken Cross Trilogy which continues the story of Damian and Anais who are well developed and independent characters. This book starts at the conclusion of the first book in the series, Savage Empire. I could not put this novel down until the last page of the book. This well written book and series demonstrates the superb skill Bri Blackwood possesses in creating such a great plot with its unexpected twists, drama, suspense, and sizzling passion. Scarred Empire does end in a cliffhanger which prepares you for the final book in the Trilogy entitled Steel Empire. I strongly recommend this series.

I knew this ended with a cliffhanger, but I was not prepared. I just can't!!!!
I love the evolution of Damien and Anais. I love that this picked up from Savage Empire and I really hope time goes quickly for Steel Empire.
I was, and still am, a fan of Damien Cross. In book 1, I felt Anais wavered a lot. I like her growth from book 1 to this. She was never one to back down or shy away from Damien and she did more to express herself in this book.
I like how Damien saw himself and some of his shortcomings and tried to work past them for Anais.
These two characters are so good together and I really hope they get the chance to express all their feelings and work through their miscommunications.

This is the second book in the trilogy and pickups from where it ended in the first book. I was anxious to find out what would happen next after reading the first book. Anais father’s shot and Damien is back in her life protecting her . I really liked Damien in this book. The story was fast paced and I really enjoyed it . I don’t want to give any spoilers but the story is quite addictive and Bri just leaves us with another jaw dropping cliffhanger. I am really looking forward to reading the next book. Definitely a must read!

Holy moly, Bri Blackwood what are you doing to me. Damien Cross a force to be reckoned with, he did not forget, he did not forgive, Anais had come into his life and now she was his whether she wanted it or not. Now she was being targeted and Damien protected what he owned. Omg chills here, intense emotions jumbled up in half truths and big lies I am so Alice in wonderland down the rabbit hole as I'm always thinking "what next" massive cliffhanger my heart is still racing. This series is getting better and better. The characters are growing, the story is progressing and getting more exciting than I thought it could be. I’ll tell you one thing that drives me crazy, when people don’t express their feelings, needs, secrets, whatever t each other. The lack of communication is unreal! These cliff hangers are for real killing me though, 1000% killing me! Need the next one immediately!

And Damien and Anais’s story continues in the 2nd book in the Broken Cross series. Their chemistry is scorching hot. This is a very intriguing series, full of dark drama and romance. If you’re interested in the mafia genre, you’ll love this 3 part series. The cliffhanger ending of this part had me on the edge of my seat, like wtf !! Can’t wait for the conclusion, Steel Empire. This book was SO GOOD!! I mean, talking about starting off with a BANG! My attention was captured at the beginning and held until the end. I very much enjoyed reading this book, and now I'm sad again because it's over and I have to wait for the next one. 😭 However, I'm SUPER excited to see what happens in "Steel Empire!" 😁

I really enjoyed this 2nd installment. I'm glad I found out there was a book before this one and and read it first. I can't wait until the next book. This was my first time reading Bri and I will read additional books. I love books that make me want to know what happens in the next of the series.

It was a bit disappointing that the revealing of things was super slow, like almost nothing changed from the 1st book. it felt dragging and focused on their relationship development more than the thriller\action aspect. I am not complaining though it would have been more interesting to already insert the mystery part and the complexity of it in these changes.

Damian & Anais' journey continues. Wow. End on a cliffy... can't wait for more. It's addictive. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
