It's great to be alive, but being a wanted man sucks. This ain't no spaghetti western. Cam and company are running for their lives with a UN superteam hot on their heels; not to mention one very pissed off Fae. With Lilith injured, and the UN closing in, there is only one person that can save them . . . Lilith's mom. Not only does Cam need to figure out how to impress a millennia-old succubus, but he's also got to figure out what to get the women in his life for Christmas. His problems are only going to get worse from there.
Warning: Courts and Cabals is for 18+. It contains adult situations, and supernatural creatures that generally treat humans like s#!t. You've been warned.
This work contains harem elements where the relationships are still being defined and the MC is in the process of building a harem.
Loved the first book. Just hate to see a good story go bad. Gave up a little over halfway. Why turn a promising MC into a poser, wimp, and cuckold, then force the need for a reverse harem after humiliating him time after time? Not sure what to call this, but uplifting harem it ain't.
Wow it’s like all of the bad from book 1 is all of this book. MC is subjected to non consensual screwing in every supernatural way you can think of and the conventional stuff ends up being a let down for him. This book is for real masochists. And the reveal is blah. I just didn’t care by the end and even if I did there was no catharsis.
Ok this series is much different than the normal type of book where the MC builds a harem. The MC is very well written as he actually acts like a 18 year old boy who is not sure what is going on. The world building is interesting and the story is really enjoyable. The plot twists are intriguing and we'll done. Some of the things that happened to the MC are kinda dark. The story overall was solid.
I'm not a fan of the MC getting worked over so hard and in so many ways with zero satisfaction to show for it. It was worse, actually, because he was like "well that sucks but whatever, she was hot" or some other unimaginative one-liner. He was pathetic the entire time which is not entertaining in the least.
This isn't a spoiler so I'll give you a heads up: some dude told the MC to "man up" and the book ended on a cliffhanger where he was literally about to die. So the author knew what he was doing, he just didn't know how to do it. His idea of drama and suspense is twisted beyond all recognition.
I've already wasted this much of my life reading two of these books, so I'm going to see if the author has any idea how to turn his ship around in book 3. If nothing satisfying happens within chapter 1, I'll cut my losses and jet. This is extremely disappointing because the first book had promise (also ended on a poorly-placed cliffhanger, so I guess it's the author's habit).
This is a continuation of the series and picks up right where the last one ended. Fortunately there wasn't a lot of lag time between one book and the other but cliff hanger endings get old and tiresome very quick. There's lots of action more world building and more interesting situations for our characters. It is easier to see the bonds between Cam and his harem build especially between Lilith and himself. The mystery of Cam's background builds and there is a reveal at the end. Nevertheless there are also more mysteries to explore. I just wish I knew when Book 3 was going to be released and where this series was going. I've gotten kind of tired of a series with a Book 3,000,021. L. Ron Hubbard and Robert Jordan kind of did that. The former was tiresome and the latter was intriguing and died. Eric Vall does the same but repetition is good for math and memorization but not for storytelling. Piers Anthony did it best with his Xanth series. It was formulaic and in some ways a fantasy romance with its own patterns but nevertheless each story was different in it's own way.
Started strong, and was pretty good for 2/3 of the book, but went downhill pretty quick after that. My 3 main grips are the MC, the courtroom, and the harem. Also to add extra is the extra characters.
First up the Mc, you can give a little slack at first, but at this point he seems incompetent and just plain annoying and whiny. The courtroom trials were a sham and really needed way more research done bc that was painful. As for harem, tbh so far there is no harem. But the main problem is something that you really just don’t do in the genre and that’s to do with other males. It is the fastest way to drop your readers off. I fully hope this is fixed in the next book. Extras is there was too much screen time for what are really extra characters, specifically Vernon and Becky. It IS good to give a bit of variety here and there to support the story, but it feels like there’s way too much time devoted to them which is basically just word filler.
I considered dropping the series here but I’ll stick it out and hope it gets better.
People didn't like the ending? Was it not suitably epic for you?
It took me awhile to figure it out, but the author is clearly writing this as a homage to the Dresden-verse, and I am there for it. It finally clicked for me at the AVN thing when MC was trying to figure out how to use a crystal to make a pocket glamour, that's the kind of thing Harry Dresden would do. MC has a different lineage from Dresden but he's got a similar jack of all trades power-set, hob nobs with the same kinda fantastically powerful gods and demons waaaay out of his league, concerned about the little guy (mainly himself, but not only), and totally disrespectful of authority in a way that makes perfect sense for his character. He's not as moral and he thinks mostly with his dick but that's fine, it's erotica and I'm here for that too, and the erotica is GOOD.
This is shaping up to be a great series. If you're mad because MC is a 'pushover' or whatever, there's a zillion psychopathic MC power fantasy harem eroticas out there for you.
So, how much do you like reading a good story with questionable editing and cliffhanger endings? Yep fun read, will move on to the next story and forget this ever happened. TO THE AUTHOR: Don’t do cliffhangers. It doesn’t sell more books unless you can write a book a month, and you can’t. It turns most readers off of a series, even one as enjoyable as yours. Use the last chapter to increase the threat to the protagonist by showing how known enemies are plotting their evil, or how a new threat is subtly emerging. We are all reading book 2 here, you don’t need to do a cliffhanger, it’s truly a crappy vehicle to get readers. Honestly, if I read your next book and it ends with a cliffhanger, you’ll have lost a reader.
Reminds me a lot of the King Henry tapes series from a dew years ago. A foul mouth teenager stuck in issues way over his head struggles to overcome inadvertent enemies by becoming something stronger than he thought he was.
Written with wit and a good pace, the characters are smart, likable but have realistic flaws. I am always disgusted with most of the adults in series like this in how little they assistance they provide for children in their care. The school staff was useless here. Likewise, the win at all cost mentality of law enforcement. Vernon and Becky should have been fired for shooting live ammo at kids.
I've seen the other reviews that gave this second book in my opinion a bad shake which is more than unfair!🤔
Aside from the fact our hero isn't experiencing the usual harem situation he went through in the first book, the story itself continues to captivate a true story seeker like myself especially after my surprised revelation toward the end of the book which makes me want to read the third book when it comes out even more!
I don't want to blatantly be a spoiler, but two words come to mind; Percy Jackson!!😁😉
I will start with: WTF is with that cliffhanger ending!? That aside, a good read over all, although the MC seems very inconsistent in the way he faces danger. Within the same actions, he'll oscillate between almost foolhardy aggression followed by literally pant-shitting terror.
There are also a number of spelling issues that irk me, like consistently using "break" instead of "brake" so the editing could be tightened up. Overall not a deal-killer, so I will suck up the spelling weirdnesses and pick up the third book, assuming there will be one.
I love the storyline and we finally get to know what Cam is although you have to wait till the end to find out. I’m not a fan of the fact that Lilith is going to be with other guys. Also not a fan of what Marcella did and I’m not sure why the rectal probing was needed. I’d like to see Cam man up a little more. He seems to get his ass handed to him even when he wins. I gave this 5 stars because aside from my cons, the pros far outweigh them and I really do love this series. Looking forward to book 3
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Alright so this book has everything a good sequel needs! The story progresses at a steady pace. The MC grows and begins to find his own. We meet new and interesting characters that make you want to find out more of what's going on in this universe, and last but not least the amount of spice in this book doesn't leave you wanting! S3x sells and guess what; im buying!!!!
This somewhat of a conjoined review of books 1&2. The story is decent enough, but there is a serious lack of timeline consistency. If I were to plot it out it would be more of a crumpled ball of thread than Clothos' careful weave.
Secondly, it is apparent that some speech-to-text software was used as there are numerous homophone errors that simple spellcheck wouldn't catch.
There is too much usage of Deus/Devil Ex Machina. With little or no logic rescuers and villains just appear.
So Cam is having a bad year, or is it good at least for some reasons. Struggling with what he is, as he doesn’t know. Powers he doesn’t understand and a homicidal royal fae trying to capture and kill him to keep her mother from disinheriting her. Not his greatest Christmas and new year period. I am enjoying the story so far and looking forward to the next book in the series.
Once again a creative, funny, action-filled (bow chakka) story packaged in a slightly damaged container. And again it doesn’t bother me too much (well... “week-kneed”? Really?) because the story is really good. Funny and fast-paced, with even more going on than in book one. Recommended (17+)
I took a chance and grabbed this series and it turned out to be excellent. Great store with a new slant on the genre. The only complaint is a minor one, there are a few grammatical errors but who cares. Both books are worth every penny, can’t wait for more from this author.
This series is just awesomeness. Don’t let the cartoonish cover throw you off. This series rocks. Lots of action, lots of adult content and lots of great everything. This one picks up right where book 1 left off and rockets up and up and up. Really can’t wait for book 3 and more.
Beyond the titillation factor, the interlaced drama and intrigue revolving around the main characters and their factions is very well thought out and cohesive. Look forward to more revelations from this author and the storyline.
Holy shit balls, Batman!! I love this author's writing! Gorgeous scenery, expansive world building, this series has it all! And the behind-the-scenes treachery! I can't wait for the next one! Literally gobbling these works up like they're cake.
I wish I was a wordsmith that I could do Justice to this tale! I can't think of more than five books in the last sixty years that captivated and excited the magic that needs to live in us all as this does! Thank You!😀
I truly enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down. I feel that the authors take on all things of myth and legend is a great setting for the book.
The writer can be a little long winded with his internal dialogue while skimping on the external. Overall a very enjoyable story, cant wait to read the next
