Letting Archer walk out of my life was the hardest thing I ever had to do, but I wasn’t ready to face the world about falling in love with my best friend.
I did the unthinkable and forced his hand. I tried to live, but being in the shadows is a cold and lonely place to stay for eternity.
Now 10 years later, I’m tired of hiding who I am, but will the love of my life give me a second chance or has he found someone else?
Previously in the Heard It In a Love Song Anthology.
Harlow Layne is known for her contemporary romance style of beautiful slow-burn, sweet, sexy and swoon-worthy alphas, and fast pace, super-steamy romance in her Love is Blind series.
I loved Archer and Keaton so much. A really good M/M second chance romance. Archer and Keaton were best friends and feelings developed between them but when Keaton was scared to come out to his family, he left Archer a letter and nothing more. Fast forward 10 years later, they meet up again at their high school reunion and the feelings that were there between them rekindled. Loved the raw emotions that flowed between them. Their romance was so heartbreaking and breathtaking all at once. Loved it!!!
You Make It Easy by Harlow Layne is AMAZING!! 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️ Oh my heart y’all!! It will never be the same after Archer and Keaton’s story. You Make it Easy is both a tear jerker of a friends to lovers romance and also a heartwarming second chance romance. While their story might be a relatively short novella Harlow packs all the heart and heat you could want in this perfect little package. You’d be shocked to learn this is her first go at a M/M romance, and she gives you everything you could want and more. 🌈
I don’t want to give too much detail away so... I will say in this story you have two gorgeous men, one who is comfortable in his own skin and completely comfortable with who he is. While the other struggles constantly, with who he is, and how he will fit into the world he was born to be brought up in. These struggles will lead one of them to make a decision that devastates them both setting them out on different paths only to reunite ten years later at their high school reunion. After ten years apart will they still feel the unstoppable same pull towards each other?
Will they both finally be at a place in their lives where they can finally be free to be together and be free to love who they love? Their story will take you on an emotional journey. You will sympathize and your heart will break. You will want so badly for everything to workout in the end. Harlow Layne packs so much emotional goodness in here. Don’t worry though, she will also be “burning’ down the house” 🔥 cause she’s bringing the heat too! Holy hell!! I’m sweat y’all! Archer and Keaton had all that built up cause... 😱💀😱 So Good! I’m gonna leave it at that. JUST READ THIS!!
This is a must read beautiful story about forgiveness of past hurts, acceptance, being true to who you are, and being able to love who you love. This is sinful. It’s frustrating and sweet. It’s EVERYTHING!! This novella is guaranteed to melt your heart and your kindle. I promise you will be swooning for Archer and Keaton and begging for more long after you’ve finished their story. Because in the end LOVE triumphs over everything doesn’t it?!And you should be free to love who you love. ALWAYS!!🌈
This story is absolutely beautiful. Archer and Keaton’s love story was amazing. They were so perfect together but something pushed them away from ever being together. Which was sad and heart breaking but made for such a beautiful story. But now it has been 10 years since they last saw each other. Is there still a spark there? Has too much happened to keep them a part? Too much time passed? What a beautiful, raw and emotional love story. Such a great read. I wish it was longer, as I loved Archer and Keaton so much. I absolutely truly loved the rawness of these two characters. An absolute must read!
I first read this story inside the anthology Heard it in a Love Song I’m excited to see that stories are are getting released separately.
Complete rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 This was a cute second change romance between two high school best friends who never truly got a chance to begin. Keaton wasn’t as comfortable with owning his sexuality as Archer which ultimately cost them ten years of happiness. Ten years they could have spent together building a life and family.
Fast forward and we get to experience how getting out of your own head can lead to the happiness you never knew you’d be able to live. Sometimes your happiness is more important than upholding an ideal. And it was beautiful to see how seamlessly the families integrated.
"You make it easy" by Harlow Layne is a short male/male novella.
It is a beautiful story about accepting who you are and being brave enough to make the decisions and take the steps to find happiness in life.
Archer and Keaton are high school best friends and love each other but Keaton’s insecurities and doubts about his sexuality force him to make decisions that will change his and Archer’s life forever. Both men are left lonely and broken-hearted and Archer is hurt as he is left out of Keaton’s life with just a letter as a goodbye.
10 years later the guys meet again, they have built their lives separately but the connection they had when young is still there. Would there be a possibility of a second chance for love between them?
This story is very short but is packed with emotion in every single page and a magnificent HEA.
I’m sorry, but I just don’t get what other reviewers are raving about with this super short story. I found it difficult to connect with any of the characters. The two main characters, Archer and Keaton, were both running hot and cold; one minute acting bossy and overconfident and the next, timid and insecure. I didn’t particularly care for Archer’s bestie, Florence. I found her to be rather annoying and was glad when she finally bowed out. There were a few minor editing errors, like when Archer’s and Keaton’s names were mixed up. And there were some plot points that made no sense to me, such as Keaton refusing to come out because of how his family would react but yet they had already disowned him when he divorced Kenzie. I know this is part of a series, which I have not read, but there was nothing about this thag make me want to read the rest.
Ten years ago Archer had his heart broken and Keaton made one of the biggest mistakes of his life. Now they are seeing each other for the first time after all those years. There is still so much chemistry between them, but there is also the pain of the past.
I loved the chemistry between Archer and Keaton. Their story was an emotional one that I wasn’t expecting, but they also had their sweet moments and some rather steamy moments. I loved how their story started and ended with letters. It was something fun and different and set the tone for the overall story.
I do wish their story was longer, because I just couldn’t get enough of them. I loved every single moment of Archer and Keaton’s relationship I didn’t want it to end.
I am a big fan of Harlow and continue to love her books. As this is my first MM book, I truly enjoyed it! I think this was definitely a good book for me to try out this genre and see if I liked it. You Make It Easy was swoon worthy. It was a reconnection of two men who were devastated after ones actions ten years ago. It’s not hard to adore both Keaton and Archer. They both are such strong characters. Putting them together is just the sweetest.
I really enjoyed reading You Make It Easy. I think others will too. If you like second chances or insta love stories, this book is for you.
You make it Easy was the first M/M romance that I have read and I was very unsure to do it at first but I know how Harlow writes and I know how talented she is, so I went for it and OMG!!! WOW!!!! She has completely changed my views on M/M romances as most always seemed to be over done, over detailed, and very exaggerated so I honestly was never interested in them.
I wanted to read this book and see what it was about. The interracial aspect of the book intrigued me. That was not discussed very much in the book and I was a little disappointed. The author chose to focus more on the love between Archer and Keaton. They were lovers in high school. Archer wanted him and Keaton to move away together. But Keaton bowed to pressure and slept with a lady and married her because she was pregnant. SomArcher left town alone. Ten years pass before the two men see each other again. Will Archer forgive Keaton? Will Keaton be ready to live an authentic life?
I absolutely loved this story. This was so beautifully written and such a heartwarming amazing, second chance story!! Best friends to secret lovers to absolute heartbreak. My heart broke for Archer when his world was flipped upside down by Keaton’s letter. Thanks to a 10yr class reunion, they ran into each other again and rekindled their love. Always emotional, passionate, and fun with the absolute best HEA. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
It was beautiful and sweet. Sometimes love never fades and even bad decisions of the past not let this love to be waisted. Sometimes all you need is only small push to put everything on the right track again. Only thing I didn’t like about this story was its length, it was waaaay too short. Honestly it’s perfect story, I just wish to read more of it.
Ugh dreading the high school reunion, thinking of the love lost because of insecurity and afraid of small town gossips, Keaton and Archer rekindling of their high school romance, finding love and acceptance of his family, Archer and Keaton move with Keaton's family, acceptance and love, thank you, Dana Zamora
A quick, emotional second chance romance. I enjoyed the journey Archer and Keaton took from childhood and then adulthood. Their story was heartbreaking, redeeming and a wee bit steamy.
A nice shortish story of love lost and a second chance . . . maybe. It's a sad tale at times, two men made choices that they had to live by, and regret, for ten years.
Archer and Keaton are everything! I loved their story so much. Best friends to lovers and second chances are a few of my favorite tropes. After things go astray when they were younger, Keaton leaves Archer with nothing but a letter. 10 years later they find each other again and it's as if they were never apart. Wished it was longer, it was so good!
