Leather Wellington made his money the old-fashioned way: he won it playing poker. He’s at the top of his game and he’s not about to let a couple of death threats stand in his way. However, he will do what he always does; he’ll hire a bodyguard. However, he’s not prepared to come face-to-face with the woman who stole his heart, twice, and trust her with his life. But he’s left with no choice. Not if he wants to play and no way will he let the enemies of the past ruin his future.
Lacey “Lace” Brown had only ever wanted to be a sailor, so when her career in the Navy comes to an abrupt halt, she opts to take a job with the Brotherhood Protectors. Her first assignment is to protect the infamous gambler, Leather Wellington, which goes against everything she believes in, but she will do exactly what she’s hired to do, even when she finds out the truth, because sometimes it is the truth that will set you free from the scars of the past.

And by more, I mean I could read about them in an entire series - how the casinos go to lace & they not only legitimatize the business but do great things with it, all while running another Brotherhood right there out of Vegas . . . . lol - I see potential here Jen Tatly! 😊
The Brotherhood Protector's latest hire Lacey 'Lace Brown has some secrets. Most of them Hank Patterson has uncovered, but some he has not. Those secrets concern her first bodyguard assignment, but also make her perfect for the task. She left the Navy instead of reenlisting after her husband died and she discovered he'd been cheating on her, not necessarily in that order.
Leather is a professional poker player and the tournament he's entered is one of the top paying ones. It's also the game he could come out of as the top player in the US. Every year he enters this one and every year he gets threats, this year is different though. The previous threats have never threatened anyone but him, this one also threatens to harm his mother.
Lacey's family is well known in Vegas, at one point in time it was expected that her and Leather would be King and Queen of the Strip. Something she never wanted and when her father was gunned down she joined the Navy and never looked back. Leather got out another way but he still returns to Vegas for these tournaments, it makes him feel closer to Lacey even if she's not there.
First Lacey has to convince him she's perfect for this job and the one to help him finish what he started years ago.
Vegas comes alive in this book with all the glitter, gambling, cheating, and so much more.
Lacey's brother and uncle are both pieces of work but only one is truly dangerous. As information begins to come together so do some of the pieces of the past.
Plenty of twists and turns as Lace and Leather take their relationship to the next level with some sizzling heat and take care of the past once and for all.
This is the 3rd book in the Saving Series but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. Leather and Lace grew up together in Las Vegas. Now Leather makes his living as a professional poker player. He has been getting threats about dropping out of one of the biggest games of the year, so he hires the Brotherhood Protector's for a bodyguard. Lace recently left the Navy and has just been hired by the Brotherhood Protector's. When she is told about her first job, she can't believe it is to protect Leather. Which will not only push her back into a world that she doesn't want anything to do with, but also with dealing with a man that she hasn't forgotten.
So this book sucked me in right from the start just with the characters names! The different play with a lot of the names just made me smile and want to know what else might be snuck in there! And then I was hooked on the story and wanting to know more. Lace, at first, comes across as this stickler for the rules and just a goody two shoes. But in reality, while she does like rules, she also will do what is necessary to do the right thing. Leather is this man who was stuck in a rough spot as a youth, but he managed to figure out a way to get out. And he comes across as devil may care, but he will do anything for the people he cares about. Including get himself hurt. I loved them together. The back story was excellent, the characters were great, and the storyline kept me interested. It was different and unique in it's own ways and kept me reading and wanting more!
Saving Leather: Brotherhood Protectors World: Saving Series Book 3 was written by Jen Talty. This is going to be another formula series of books. However, if this one is any indication, they are going to be well-written and fun to read. This book has a female protector, Lacey Lace Brown, who has been selected as bodyguard for poker champ Leather Wellington. Not only is he a poker champ; but Lacey Lace Brown has known him for most of their lives. He worked for her Father in underground Las Vegas. She knew him as a cheat and a player. She had also had a week’s affair with him when she was back home in Las Vegas burying her cheat of a husband. However, there had been credible threats against Leather if he plays in this championship game and because of her own background, Lacey knew a lot of the players in Las Vegas. Her uncle now ran the casinos her father had run. Whether or not the threats were viable, it was necessary for the Brotherhood Protectors to protect Leather and they intended to do so. Lacey figured she would be the best one to follow up on these prints. Can she and Leather work together even though she doesn’t trust him?
Lacey and Leather grew up friends in Vegas. There was a twist in that Lacey’s father was a big time mobster and she wanted no part of that. When her father gets killed she leaves Vegas and enlists in the navy. Fast forward she is back in Vegas burying her husband and connects with Leather for a week of extreme passion. She leaves and goes back to the navy, only to decide not to reenlist. She moves to Montana and joins the Brotherhood Protectors. Much to her surprise her first assignment was to be a bodyguard for Leather who is entered into a huge poker tournament in Vegas. Leather had been receiving dead threats against himself and his mom and hired the agency. Sparks fly again between Lacey and Leather, and as they work to figure out who is after him, old family business involving both of them comes to the forefront. Loved the twists and turns in trying to figure out the players.
A second chance, with all the heat of the Nevada desert. Lacey and Leather kind of grew up together but they resisted being more than friends. That changed when he comforted her after her husband’s death. But then she disappeared, making him wonder if he dreamed the whole encounter. Now she’s back in his life as his bodyguard, but he’ll have to protect her from the secrets of their past. As with just about every Talty title I read, this book is filled with the author’s trademark world-building and suspenseful plotting. There were twists and switchbacks that caught me off-guard with every page flip. And even though I loved it, the dad-level joke that closed out the story is an absolute groaner. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
It’s always a pleasure to go back into the Brotherhood Protectors world, and this is a fabulous return there. Lacey is new to the Brotherhood, fresh from her Navy service, but she and her assignment Leather have history and a past in the murky world of professional poker and casinos. There are so many loose ends at the start – and, with her usual skill, Jen Talty ties those up for a satisfying ending and the traditional HEA. The reader is taken to a different world of card players and the potential for both betrayal and dishonesty, and the book could have been twice the length and still be enjoyable and gripping.
I was gifted a copy of this book, and the opinions are my own.
The Brotherhood Protectors, Lace's employer, has been hired to protect Leather during a poker tournament after threats are made against him. Turns out that they know each other, actually grew up together in Las Vegas before Lace's father was murdered. She left town and joined the Navy. He went on to be a millionaire poker player. Now they return to Vegas and get pulled into the past. Together they work through Lace's family corruption and solve some long standing mysteries including what happened to her Mother when she disappeared long ago. Some characters go from bad to good while others are just the opposite. Kept me guessing until the end. A good addition to the series.
A bad dream, packaged in a pretty bow, wrapped as a good time
Leather and Lace share so many heartaches and bad memories, but the more time they spend together the more good memories are remembered. However, their past blurs the lines on the current threats to Leather and working together to solve the puzzle brings feelings to the surface, feelings they fight, until they can fight no more. Together they are explosive, steamy, feisty, smart and unstoppable. Other people take a gamble and try to play them...will Leather and Lace call their bluff or will the gamble pay off? I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
Leather Wellington made his money the old fashioned way by playing poker. He is top of his game but he is getting threatened. He goes to Brotherhood Protection for protection. Lacey "Lace" Brown left the Navy after her husband died and also cheated on her and ahe joined the Brotherhood Protection . They decided to get her to his bodyguard not knowing they had a past. They knew each other as kids. They spent a week after her husband died. They had feeling for each other but she was shy about getting involved.
Leather and Lace have a history. After growing up together in Vegas, they met again briefly after Lace’s husband dies. Now Leather is in trouble, receiving threats not to play poker and Lace is hired from her new gig with the Brotherhood Protectors. Next comes all the danger and suspense you would expect along with a great love story of how they navigate their way to each other despite everything going on around them. Another great read by this author and in The Brotherhood Protector series!
A good story but awkward! It had no flow! The narrative was confusing and the plot contradicted, itself as the cluttered tale evolved! It also seemed rushed and lacking developement! The characters were like stick figures! While I was tempted to stop reading several times, I finally realized I was invested in the story and finished it! The "showdown" was totally Simplistic! It was worth reading!
This is a great addition to the Brotherhood Protectors series. It encompasses the Brotherhood Protectors at the same time the author gets to bring her books into the mix. The story of childhood friends, turned almost enemies and then back to lovers and finally into a married couple. It's a,great book you will enjoy.
Saving Leather: WOW! Excellent suspense and surprises. I liked how Lace and Leather reconnected properly after leaving the Navy and getting a job with Brotherhood Protectors. Even though her first assignment was Leather and going back to her past. I really enjoyed their story.
Leather and Lace have known each other since they were kids. Growing up in Las Vegas was not easy. Lace's Dad and uncle were in some not so nice businesses. They are in each other's lives again after fifteen years because Leather, who is a world class poker player. He has been getting threatening letters warning him not to play. Lace steps in, as part of the Brotherhood Protectors to be his bodyguard. Capitalizing on their past history, they hope to put a stop to the threats. Neither of them expected to have the same feelings for each other as they did before going their separate ways. The road to their HEA is definitely not easy, but they are determined to give it all they've got. Get this book ASAP. I promise you won't regret it. Sorry, no spoilers. I received this ARC and here is my honest review.
Leather is a famous poker player and when his life is threatened Hank sends Lace not knowing they knew each other. Lace's family runs and operates casinos in Vegas, legal not really. There's some action, steam and surprises and secrets revealed. HEA.
I received this ARC for an honest review This another great read. Leather Wellington makes his money from playing high stake poker games. As he is at the top of his games he is not going to let a few death threats stop him,but he is not silly he'll get protection from the Brotherhood Protectors. He just did antispate that they would send the one person who held his heart the one woman he knows does not trust him and thinks he's responsible for her father's death. Lacey Brown has retired from the navy and now her first assignment is one she really does want. 1st its to guard the one person she does not really trust and back into the one place she had managed to avoid Las Vegas.she feels like she is walking back into the lion den.
Poker is not the only game afoot and Leather and Lacey are now caught in the crossfire of game where they are late comers. But who is really the target.
This was a page turner just couldn't put this down

This book had two immediate draw cards for me it is part of Elle James Brotherhood Protector world a series that I love and it was written by Jen Talty who is one of my favourite authors so when I was given a chance to read it was a no brainer for me. It is only a novella length read but it sure has plenty crammed into that length
Lacey “Lace” Brown and Leather Wellington where child hood friends growing up in Las Vegas but when her family moved they lost contact with one another She went on to join the navy married and after losing her husband she has retired from the military and joined the Brotherhood Protectors out of Montana. Leather became a professional and very successful gambler when he is entering a large tournament he always employs the the Brotherhood protectors to supply him with a bodyguard and this time he needs one more than ever because he has ben receiving death threats Imagine is surprise when his new bodyguard is non other than his childhood friend. There is an instant attraction or should I say the attraction is still there between them but as the past comes back to haunt them both can they survive and can they build a future together
If you are familiar with Elle James’s Brotherhood Protectors, the World stories are a spinoff of that series. A series in which at times some of the original characters will make an appearance. This time, the story belongs to Leather Wellington and Lacey/Lace Brown. These two met in their youth in Las Vegas and had a special friendship. When Lacey’s father was killed, they went their separate ways. Nowadays Leather is a professional poker player who has been receiving death threats and in need of a bodyguard. Lacey, recently retired from the Navy and a new hire with the Brotherhood Protectors, is sent to Vegas as his protector. The attraction is still there, but so is the danger. Though at the story seemed rushed and the plot a little confusing the the large cast of characters, it was still a quick and engaging story. For me it was more of a 3.5 stars story. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
After Lacey “Lace” Brown’s husband was killed, she left the Navy for private security work with the Brotherhood Protectors in Montana. Her first assignment brings her back into contact with Leather Wellington. She has known Leather, a professional poker player, for years and after her husband’s death, they were briefly together. Leather has received death threats before, one’s that encouraged him not to play, but these new threats are more explicit. Lacey has been assigned as Leather’s bodyguard…can she keep him safe? Her “not quite legal” family is well entrenched in Las Vegas and they will have to deal with them as she tries to find the source of the threats. A tough female bodyguard sent to protect an alpha male who wants to protect her, and love her. I enjoyed her sassy “can do” attitude as she finds herself falling for Leather once again. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
I am voluntarily reviewing after receiving a free copy. It was nice to have a female bodyguard protecting a male client. Leather and Lacey have a history together. Leather was receiving death threats and it was unexpected on who was behind them. Lacey's family were part of the seedy world of Las Vegas but she honestly believed her mother was dead. When things come to the head, it was a surprise that her mother was alive but definitely not a nice woman. In the end all the bad guys including crooked feds go to jail. It was an interesting proposal that Leather gave after winning the tournament and that he had to recover to ask Lacey properly.
Wow Romantic Suspense with an ending I didn't see coming
Leather is a professional poker player. He has been getting death threats for years and when he goes to Vegas for big tournaments he hires a bodyguard. The threats are getting worse and now are including his mom. He goes to the Brotherhood Protectors to get a bodyguard and they assign him Lace
Lacey Lace Brown just got out of the Navy and joined Brotherhood. When she is given her first assignment she is excited until she finds out it is Leather. Leather the man she had something with a year ago, a quick fling.. The man who was involved with her dad's dirty dealings. A man she can protect but at what cost?
We are back with the Brotherhood Protectors and we meet Lace who has just joined them after being in the Navy. She lost her husband a year ago and never relisted back up but Boomer gets her to join them. Her first job is guarding Leather who always hires them when he has a big game coming up. He's had death threats. Lace has known Leather since they were kids back in Vegas. This book has danger, suspense, mystery , romance and lots of secrets from the past that come out. I really like the strong female led who doesn't take anything from anyone. Loved all the secrets and surprises at the end.
Leather is a gambler but he will also do anything for his mom which is why he always hires a bodyguard from Hank when he is going to a tournament. Especially since the threats have escalated. Lace is from Vegas. She also comes from a messed up family that she left behind when she joined the Navy. Now she is out of the Navy, a widow and works for Hank. Lace is now Leather's bodyguard and they have a history. Not just from their childhood. As they get closer to the tournament, things are escalating. Will the players come out to play before the tournament really starts?
Lacey Brown loved being in the Navy but when she didn’t reenlist, she took a job with the Brotherhood Protectors. Her first assignment was as a bodyguard to Leather Wellington, who is receiving death threats if he plays in a high stakes tournament. His goal is to be number one in the world so no threat is going to stop him. What Lacey’s boss doesn’t know is that the two of them have a past. As they are at the hotel where the tournament is to take place, things happen that just don’t add up. She knows they are missing something but will they figure it all out before one of them ends up dead.
