Nowhere, USA #6

Blown Away

Rate this book
The sorceress of psychological suspense is back with the sixth book in her highly-anticipated new Nowhere USA series. Ninie Hammon is at her career-best in Blown Away — a story that keeps you guessing even as the secrets are revealed.

Viola Tackett's oldest son plays a childish game with disastrous results. What might have remained a personal tragedy blossoms into a town-wide catastrophe when he lies to his mother about what happened. Now Viola Tackett is hatching a diabolical plot to get revenge. Her plan endangers the life of every man, woman, and child in Nowhere County.

Meanwhile the Reverend Duncan Norman believes he's figured out who murdered his daughter from the clues in her diary, and he has no plans to turn the other cheek. When he goes in search of an eye for an eye, he's not willing to hear that he might have the wrong guy.

As the residents of Nowere County squabble among themselves and kill each other, The Jabberwock keeps on silently picking them off one by one.

Time is running out for everyone.

★★★★★ "I don’t know how she does it, but each book in this Nowhere County series just gets better and better." -- Bonsterblack

★★★★★ "If you’ve been enjoying this roller coaster ride with us, the best (in my opinion) is waiting for you with Blown Away, Book 6 of the Nowhere series. If you haven’t been reading Ninie Hammon’s incredible journey through the Middle of Nowhere, why not? You are missing one of the best major thrillers ever written." -- Kate Hickey

★★★★★ "This is the 6th in a series of 7 novels about an incredible, unexplainable, maddening, murderous event that is taking place in a town called Nowhere. How in the wide world of sports is this going to end? I was expecting the 6th book to tie up some loose ends, and it only (delightfully) added more frayed ones. I love Ninie's writing because I'm on the edge of my seat for most of her books. Oh, and WAIT until you read the "rock climbing" section...I don't think I took a breath during the whole chapter!" -- K. Koch

★★★★★ "I am completely BLOWN AWAY by this addition to the Nowhere, USA series. Oh. My. Goodness. This has been brain-cramping from the I think I referred to it in an earlier review as the love child of Lost and The Twilight Zone. If that's true, then it's cousin must be Alice in Wonderland because things just keep getting "curiouser and curiouser."" -- Kentucky Bohemian

Blown Away is the sixth book in Ninie Hammon's new series, Nowhere USA, a riveting psychological thriller about the residents of a forgotten county that inexplicably sinks through reality to find itself in the middle of Nowhere.

Fans of Justified, Under The Dome, and LOST will find themselves right at home in Nowhere USA.

I was born in Socorro, New Mexico, sometime shortly after the earth cooled off. It’s clear that from the outset my parents never intended for me to amount to anything. How could I? With a name like “Ninie?” Please.

Fame and fortune do not come to people named Ninie Bovell (My maiden name.) Gabriella Bovary? You could work with that. Even something as pedestrian as Madeline Bovell or Rebecca Bovell or (though you’d lose points here for lack of originality) Elizabeth Bovell. But Ninie? I never had a chance.

If I sound a mite hostile, bear in mind that in one decisive stroke my parents sentenced their precious newborn daughter to a lifetime of explanations that began my first day at Muleshoe Elementary School. (Yeah, Muleshoe. The hits just keep on coming.) After a painful week, I had a rap down that I still use today:

“No, it’s not Ninnie like skinny and penny. It’s Ninie—rhymes with tiny and shiny. 9e…get it? And no, it doesn’t mean anything, it isn’t short for anything, long for anything, or a substitute for anything. It just is. (Pause here for the inevitable ‘Why?’) You got me, pal, I couldn’t tell you.”

I grew up in Texas, got a BA in English and theatre from Texas Tech University and snagged a job as a newspaper reporter. Didn't know a thing about journalism, but my editor said if I could write he could teach me the rest of it and if I couldn't write the rest of it didn't matter. I hung in there for a 25-year career as a journalist. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world, but as soon as I figured out that making up the facts was a whole lot more fun than reporting them, I never looked back.

Now, I write suspense--every flavor except pistachio: psychological suspense, inspirational suspense, suspense thrillers, paranormal suspense, suspense mysteries.

In every book I write I try to keep this promise to Loyal Reader: I will tell you a story in a distinctive voice you'll always recognize, about people as ordinary as you are--people who have been slammed by something they didn’t sign on for, and now they must fight for their lives. Then smack in the middle of their everyday worlds, those people encounter the unexplainable--and it's always the game-changer."

Oh, You Got THAT Right!
I am completely BLOWN AWAY by this addition to the Nowhere, USA series. Oh. My. Goodness. This has been brain-cramping from the start: I think I referred to it in an earlier review as the love child of Lost and The Twilight Zone. If that's true, then it's cousin must be Alice in Wonderland because things just keep getting "curiouser and curiouser."

No one is safe in this story, so don't even think about picking a favorite character to hang your hat on. If the Jabberwock doesn't get 'em, the crazy Nowhere people just might.

If you are a fan of paranormal suspense, this is a series you don't want to miss. But don't start here- it will only make your ears bleed. Start at the beginning and be prepared for a wild ride with the Jabberwock.

I don’t know how she does it, but each book in this Nowhere County series just gets better and better. It’s really hard to write a meaningful review without giving away spoilers because there is so much I want to comment on that would spoil the suspense. That being said, I’ll just say that from the beginning to the end of this book, there is constant excitement and anticipation. The reader will feel as though she is “riding the Jabberwock” from one event to the next.
I can’t wait for the next and final book in this series. At this point, I am totally invested with the people of Nower County, and I’m hoping to see a successful battle against the Jabberwock.

Wait! There's more!

That's right! More suspense, more questions, more twists and turns than a mountain switchback! The thing there is little of is answers! But, trust me there's subtle hints, and those will have you trying to figure it all out, causing you to keep turning pages to find out more! If you're already hooked on this series, your addiction is about to get worse. If you haven’t started, then better get started. Honestly, I cannot stop reading once I start one of this amazing authors books.

This was an awesome penultimate book to the “Nowhere” series. Ninie’s writing has a wonderful, authentic flavor all its own, and this story is no exception. The writing is engaging and continues to bring you characters that you’ll relate to. Come check out this story, and root for the residents of Nowhere County with me.

Keep it up, Ninie! Can't wait for the final installment to see who makes it through and who doesn't!

Blown Away, the 6th book in Ninie Hammon's Nowhere, U.S.A. series, is so full of scary/exciting moments that I could hardly put it down. When I opened the book, I stepped right into Nowhere, USA, and took an exciting and scary ride to the end of the book, where it left me in an anticipated cliff hanger. To put it mildly, I was blown away by the ending.

Not blown away

I was expecting to literally be blown away. No big secrets were revealed, this whole Nower County series has been a disappointment. This is nowhere near the greatest of Ninies best writings!

Spooky!!!

I loved this instalment of the Nowhere USA book. I still don't like cliff hangers though. Worth the money😊 I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Nowhere USA

This is a great book, easy to read & yet keeps your interest. The characters are people that you can imagine knowing just through people you already know , love or hate.
