This was my first Joyce Meyer book. It wasn't the best devotional I've ever read, but it was a quick reminder at the end of each day to focus on God. However, sometimes the writing came across as a chore for Meyer, and often the explanation of a Bible verse seemed to deviate from its actual meaning. I don't like to assume qualities of influential Christians in today's society, but I worried that I was reading more of "prosperity preaching" than scriptural truth.
Another thing that bothered me about this devotional was its poor framing. There are dozens of pages where the written part of the devotional is a sentence too long for the page, and you wind up with unnecessary extra pages. While that doesn't have anything to do with the writing, it was something that occurred frequently and bothered me.
I'm not opposed to trying out more Joyce Meyer books in the future, but for now I think I'll stick to seeking other devotionals.
I love 365 day devotional’s because it allows me to start or finish every day with a positive word. Meyer gives us just very short messages for each day that includes a verse, the thought and clarity for the day, and then a beautiful prayer at the end for each day.
Simple to read and even if you don’t want to follow the dated devotions, you can simply open the book and look for a heading that is applicable to what you need for that day.
You can find headings such as:
Temptation Take care of yourself Do you want to change When things don’t go as planned The solution for sin It isn’t fair and 300+ More.
Every day it is a beautiful message that can really help strengthen your mental clarity and keep you on the right path.
I just love her works because she knows exactly where we’re coming from because she struggles the same way we do. Her messages speak directly to me and go straight to my heart.
This book has been with me a full year! I can’t quite believe I have actually read it every single day. I has been a CRAZY year - when I bought this book I was 1/2 way through my 7 month stay in a mental health hospital…this book and I went through A LOT in there. Little did I know at the time I eventually got home, meanwhile my physical health deteriorating rapidly all the time. And still I write this having been up been awake the past 3 nights with vomiting, blood pressure through the floor and migraines. When this will end I do not know but I would like to share this line I hold on to from Psalm 131:3 “O [Emma], hope in the Lord from this time forth and forevermore” ♾️ 🙏🏼 💜 Amen
I don't know about you, but my days go much better when I start off with my devotional for the day. Strength for Each Day by Joyce Myer is a daily devotional with a year's worth of devotions. Each day starts off with a Bible verse, includes a reading written by Joyce Meyer, and concludes with a short prayer.
Strength For Each Day is a small book that would be easy to carry with you in your purse or book bag to read any time of day if you don't have time in the morning. It measures about 5 by 7 inches. The cover has pretty flowers on it, as you can see, but each page also is decorated with a floral background. In the brief introduction, Meyer encourages readers to read each devotional slowly, to think about what they read, and to consider how they can apply it to their own life. There are a variety of topics in the readings: gratitude, self-care, kindness, honesty, peace, and wisdom among many other topics. I think Meyer is so easy to relate to in her writing and this book does give good food for thought for each day.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions within this review are my own.
Strength for Each Day is a brand-new devotional from popular pastor, Joyce Meyer. It’s written with the mindset to assist readers into making each day a great day and maintaining a positive attitude. This book is geared towards empowering you to live a more peaceful lifestyle. She begins the first day by looking at Isaiah 40:31 and how if we wait on the Lord, then we will have our strength renewed. The verse also discussed how our wings will mount up like eagles, we will run and not get weary, and walk and not faint. She used an illustration on how we must refill our gas tank or if we never did, we would then be stranded. In the same way, we must spend time with our Creator and be refreshed, recharged, and changed. We can do this by reading the Word, praying, listening to music, reading a faith filled book, or enjoying God’s presence. Each day included a teaching, scripture verse, and a prayer.
I would recommend this awesome devotional to anyone who is tired of just trying to get by and they are going through the motions without feeling empowered to live their lives to the fullest. I immensely loved how she discussed many different strengths, mindsets, and ways to build up our faith. One of my favorites was about servicing others and loving them as foretold in Galatians 6:10. We are instructed to be good to all people especially to the family of believers. She explained how the world is starving for love and she revealed how we can follow Jesus and His teaching and be a blessing to others. She reminded readers that this should be our highest purpose in life. I liked how she encouraged readers to compliment and to always say thank you when we are being served. The devotional is one that is meant to be reread and apply daily to our lives and to gain strength for whatever we may face in life.
"I received this book free from the publisher, Hachette Book Group/Faithwords for my honest review.”
The last year or so has had its own challenges, as I am sure every year has but this book, Strength For Each Day 365 Devotions to Make Every Day a Great Day by Joyce Meyer has been a blessing each time I have opened it’s pages. I have laughed, cried and enjoyed the wisdom on the pages as I needed on the days that I was wise enough to make sure I made time to be in the word. I can’t say I am faithful to every day, but I try and God is always faithful to me. I actually follow this devotional with another bible study and I was always surprised that no matter what, the bible studies always seemed to fit together and echo the message for the day.
I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants help with their walk. Each study is only one page long and offers the scripture for the lesson on the top of the page so if you want to carry it with you and don’t want to bring a bible too, you are prepared. Many of the studies mention other scriptures so you can go deeper if you like.
I love books that focus on daily devotions. Especially when they are simple yet impactful. Joyce Meyer's Strength for Each Day supplies a year's worth of devotions that center on spiritual strength.
As the introduction states, Jesus is our strength, and we can receive as much of His strength as we need each day by spending time with Him, studying His Word, and asking Him to give us what we need. And that is what these devotions prompts--time with Him. God is the one who enables us to do the things we do.
I love the optimistic and forward-looking blessings and prayers this book provides. It puts my thoughts on Him and makes me incredibly thankful for His guidance, power, and strength.
Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book. My review was not influenced.
I'm still reading this daily during my devotional time, but I've read enough to post a review.
I enjoy the year-long devotionals, as they're a great way to start of year, as well as each morning. As is typical with devotionals, Meyer includes a short message for each day, along with a Bible verse and a prayer.
The book is a small size so it's quite portable. The floral theme on the cover carries throughout the book, as well. There are a variety of topics, such as: gratitude, self-care, kindness, honesty, peace, and wisdom.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn't required to leave a positive review.
Wow, what year 2023, not sure I would have made it through this year. Started out 2023 with my daughter having open heart surgery with 9 months of complications, she is finally better. Then in October my son had open heart surgery a surprise to us all, but he had Vivid for 3 months which lead to his surgery. He stayed with me during recovery and ends the year on a good recovery. This book saved me and gave me strength.
Do you need a new devo for your morning quiet time? Look no further - Joyce has just published Strength For Each Day. The Bible tells us God gives new mercies every morning - Joyce brings us new strength, from The Word, to go alongside the new mercies.
