Sherri has returned to her passion of writing to indulge her own children's passions. A graphic designer, she lives in Chicago with her photographer husband, a cockapoo named Quincy, several fish, a few hermit crabs, an ever-changing array of insects in jars, toys in every corner, and two energetic and inquisitive young boys: one fascinated by bugs and magic and another obsessed with trucks and trains. She's constantly inspired -- and often exhausted! She created GOODNIGHT, GOODNIGHT, CONSTRUCTION SITE in hopes of happier bedtimes and sweet dreams for all.

This is Sherri's first book, and (just in case you think it can't happen!) it was picked from the slush pile.

As a 1.5 year old, I like the flaps in this book a lot. Mom thinks in future years I’ll like learning about all the different types of construction vehicles.

CONSTRUCTION SITE: MERRY AND BRIGHT is a delightful lift-the-flap holiday board book for vehicle lovers everywhere. Part of the Construction Site series, this new book joins the construction vehicles as they prepare for Christmas. Rhyming text shows the vehicles preparing a tree, bringing in the gifts, and decorating the construction site with lights. As per the rest of the series, the book ends with a "shh... goodnight!" that makes it a lovely pick for a bedtime read.

What I loved: With a new simple, non-religious holiday theme, this book brings all the fun of preparing for the holiday with construction truck flair. For instance, crane truck lifts up the Christmas tree, excavator comes and places a star on top, and dump truck drops a pile of presents under the tree. The rhyming text has a wonderful rhythm that rolls off the tongue so smoothly. The text is clear and easy to read, flowing from one page to the next. The flaps are clever, with reveals of each holiday item underneath. It captures the spirit of the holiday and all the joy so well - with special construction site flair.

The book is very sturdy with oversized flaps built into the pages that will hold up to tougher readers. The illustrations on each page are full of fantastic details and construction truck friends that come to life among holiday touches. We also really enjoyed the holiday attire donned by the vehicles such as pretend reindeer antlers and Santa hats. This is a great pick for bedtime with toddlers and preschoolers leading up to Christmas.

Final verdict: A joyful holiday celebration of construction vehicles, CONSTRUCTION SITE: MERRY AND BRIGHT is a delightful, rhyming lift-the-flap board book that will appeal to fans of vehicles and Christmas.

If you are looking for a sturdy and/or seasonal Construction Site board book (or just have a reader who loves anything construction!), then look no further than the adorably warmhearted Construction Site: Merry and Bright. Construction Site: Merry and Bright is a Christmas lift-the-flap board book starring favourite friends from the construction crew. With bouncy, fun rhymes and “tough truck friends”, every spread features a lift-the-flap element which reveals a festive surprise from one of the crew. Christmas cheer (and sweet holiday surprises in the illustrations!) builds from page to page, leading readers to a terrifically satisfying and happy fold out. My three year old just beams when I read the story to him: he cannot get enough of this story for bedtime reading, especially as December is just around the corner! As ever, AG Ford’s wax oil crayons artwork are so visually appealing, saturated, bright, and impossible to resist; and Duskey Rinker’s rolling, nimble rhymes make for an active and sweet read aloud.

I received a copy of this title courtesy of Raincoast Books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and comments are my own.

The ever-popular Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site books just get better and better. I love this little board book edition and the fact that it is Christmas-themed is utterly charming. I think the pacing of the book and implementation of the life-the-flap reveals is PERFECT for this age range! Kids will adore seeing their familiar construction site friends readying for Christmas (though, I think this book would work well for toddlers who haven't even seen some of the other books in the series, which run a little longer). The rhyming text is lovely as always, though I will say there's a little bit of clunky-ness to be had with the lift-the-flap element because often you are waiting for the second part of the rhyming couplet to read once you open the flap. It just causes a little pause in the reading, which in my mind flows so smoothly in the other books in the series. Not a huge deal since, as I said, the reveals from the flap-lifts are all wonderful!

***Note: I was given a review copy of this book by Chronicle Kids. Opinions are my own.

It’s Christmas Eve and all the vehicles have their own job to do to make Christmas come alive on the construction site. With a rhyming scheme and the classic characters from the series, all the big trucks come alive on the pages while they each take a role in helping to celebrate Christmas.

With the lift-the-flap pages, kids will see how each truck and vehicle is contributing to making Christmas fun. From Flatbed hauling toys to Excavator placing the star on top of the tree, everyone has a job to do. After reading this, kids will want to help out and contribute to making their home ready for Christmas too.

This is a great addition to the popular series and gets even the little kids excited about construction vehicles and Christmas.

It’s always a big day when a new book in the @sherririnker and @agfordart CONSTRUCTION series arrives, but today is even more special. Not only is it another story about the beloved construction crew, but it’s also a Christmas book AND a Lift-the-flap book!! As Christmas Eve approaches, we visit the construction yard as the construction friends come together to bring some Christmas joy to their home. It’s a story of friendship, cooperation and sharing. It’s one your family will want to read again and again.

Browsing books to give my friends' children as gifts since I won't gift anything I haven't first read myself.

The Construction Site series knocks lift-the-flap books right out of the park. The construction equipment was as adorable as ever as they get ready for celebrating Christmas. The pictures waiting under the flaps are a delight. The rhyming text is fun to read. These books are always a win.

The construction truck series is a winner. We have read and own most in the series. They are a longer children’s book, with great illustrations.

The books are rhyming and teach kids about different projects!

I love the holiday edition of our favourite rough and tough construction crew! This is a great gift ideas for your 2-5 year old.

This is our second Christmas book this month from Sheri Duskey Rinker’s Construction Site series. It was a board book with flaps, and a perfect length for a toddler, whereas Construction Site on Christmas Night was longer (though he enjoyed that one too).
