Holy smokes! I’m all over the place after finishing Smoke which is my favorite book in the Virtues & Lies series. Alexandra Silva is simply on fire. Storytelling and especially characterization are sublime.
I definitely recommend reading the series from the beginning to get introduced to the characters but also to the overall plot. For me it only enhanced my enjoyment of Freddie and Georgina’s story.

I like my hero flawed and rough around the edges and Freddie is just that and so much more. He’s ruthless, a killer but damn that man holds so much emotion and secrets inside. Not letting anyone in even though Georgina tries to break through his walls. He’s his own worst enemy.
Freddie and Georgina share insane chemistry. They feed off each other, push and pull until they collide and explode. They get rough with one another when they’re intimate. I enjoyed that Georgina is so vocal with him. She wants everything Freddie gives. She irks him on because she wants him. She needs him. Such a strong and secure heroine. Freddie wants her too but his past mistakes are lurking in the back of his mind.

Smoke is book 1 of Freddie & Georgina’s story. Silva has only scratched the surface of Freddie and Georgina in Smoke and I’m on pins and needles to get the final part Flame.
Smoke is erotic suspense to perfection. Bravo!

Wow I really wanted to punch this MMC in the nuts and shake some damn sense into this heroine. She sure did love him at all costs, even at the cost of her own self worth. He clearly loved her but for some reason didn't want to accept it or admit it, and she just let him treat her like dirt on the bottom of his shoe. Then he has, I guess, a revelation, and all of a sudden he's trying to make things work with her, trying to make her happy, idk, but she doesn't even question his change in behavior... She really does just accepts every and all ways he wants to treat her because she loves him so deeply. And she's so desperate for him to love her back (but why???)
I couldn't really concentrate on the mystery aspect of the story because I was just so confused by their behavior in regards to their relationship 🤦‍♀️

Holy hell, Freddie is one super intense guy!

He so cold, unfeeling, brutally savage. Yet he is so sexy, possessive and alpha sexy.
He Claims he doesn't have a heart and no feelings but his actions with Georgina can often say something different. Georgina loves Freddie.
It's been a fight for her and when they are together I'm surprised nothing has literally caught on fire.
Georgina is the light to Freddie's dark.
I'm so in her corner!!

Alexandra Silva's Virtues and Lies series is undoubtedly my favorite romantic suspense series. AND I keep loving the main characters in each book more and more! Freddie Emsworth is THE anti-hero to hate and rage against and indubitably fall in love with in the most gloriously painful way. And Georgina Gladstone crept into my heart in the most pleasantly surprising way. Of course I was curious about her in the previous books but I could not have asked for a better match to Freddie's enigmatic, frustrating, cruel and broody ways. I must not forget the presence of the other characters that we have grown to love over the previous books...they make this group whole and some of the scenes with them mean so much.

Freddie and Georgina's story is heavy on angst and heartache and the storyline is full of tension, intrigue and incredible explosive chemistry. I am loving the nefarious, corrupt "who done it" vibe of the plot. The secrets and internal struggles of our main man add to the mystery exponentially! You're going to want to throw your kindle at his infuriating delicious face...often...but I promise it's all worth it. The personal growth of Georgina is breathtaking and I know we are just at the beginning of her development into a force to be reckoned with. And that ending...I'm left CRAVING the sure to be epic conclusion for these two characters that I love so much.

Alexandra's writing just gets better and better. Smoke (and I have a sneaking suspicion I'll feel the same way about Flame!) is my favorite book that she's written to date. MORE than 5 stars to this thrilling and sensual book! Bring on Flame!

Smoke by Alexandra Silva is book 4 in the Virtues & Lies Series. This starts the story of Freddie Emsworth and Georgina Gladstone. I have read the previous books which did add to my enjoyment of this one. Georgina is a good women who knows what Freddie is but can't seem to stop her growing feelings. Freddie is a man who his dark and dangerous who knows that love only weakens a person. When his girlfriend Lucy went missing he started to look for those that are responsible for her disappearance. Although he doesn't love he does have a sense of revenge against what had happen. This search along with his feelings of not believing in loving / caring is stopping him from knowing what Georgina is to him. Freddie is possessive of Georgina but not letting or understanding his feelings more. This does end setting us up for the next installment into their story.

OMG! OMG! That's all I can say. 

Ok, so I just finished the book and OMG. This is a roller coaster of emotions. I can not believe how hard I cried.

The way Alexandra Silva wrote this book is just magnificent, stunning is everything you can ask for and more. So if you want to read this book just be aware to grab tons of tissues because you’ll gonna needed. 

This book has been so far one of my favorites books this year, a 10 out of 10 stars.

Can't wait for the second part of this book.

Debo decir que sin duda alguna tienen que leer toda la serie, pero por el momento este ha sido sin lugar a duda mi favorito.

Raw, sexy as sin, angst for days, a troubled hero and the feisty heroine that pushes his buttons every step of the way....this by far doesn't sum up this book, or give even a small inkling of who Freddie and Georgina are, but it gives a good example of what Alexandria has in-store for her readers. If you like an alpha male that takes what he wants when he wants it and doesn't apologize for his behavior than you're going to love Freddie!

Freddie's past had demons that haunt him, that hold him back from giving into his feelings for Georgina. But when Georgina is targeted he doesn't hold back to protect her. Their relationship is a battle of wills, is hotter than hades, and a rollercoaster ride. I can't wait to find out how their story continues.

I don't think I could love Freddie and Georgina's story any more than I do. Freddie is so flawed but so irresistible. Georgina brings out something in him that is a whole other side. There's so much more to learn about Freddie and I can't wait for the next book!

Grab your tissues, some wine, a kindle protective case and a spare set of panties because Freddie and Georgina are going to have you sitting in your seat until you finish this.... I have been waiting for a long time for this one and I absolutely devoured it!!!! The chemistry between the main characters and the steam when they come together is OFF THE CHARTS!

Silva delivers her best writing into this story. a sizzling combination of love, suspense and mystery with a hero that you’re not sure if you want to punch or hug most of the time and a strong heroine who finds the courage to fight for what she wants while demanding what she deserves. Freddie is my favourite kind of a**hole, complicated and sexy as sin, all kinds of baaaaad but gives you glimpses of something in his core that just keeps you holding on to the Hope that he will find a way to show it. He will absolutely frustrate you with his propensity to be an a-grade d*ck but Silva does a brilliant job of peeling back his layers in an authentic way to show his reasons and motives.... and then BAM!!! You can’t help but love the guy.....

Georgina knows that Freddie is bad for her, but her soul has made its choice and calls to his in a way that she can’t control. I loved her story and development in this book..... I love how she’s strong but vulnerable and needs to find the courage within herself to demand what she deserves from the main who has her heart. She’s always been on the outside, protected and never quite knowing where she stands .... can she leap in with both feet to a world of chaos and violence... Can she trust Freddie to catch her?

Through all this, the story of the elite continues with mystery, violence and intrigue around every corner for the friends who have become family. I loved seeing my old favourites and how far they’ve come.

It’s a damn bumpy ride that will have you screaming in frustration, sighing with happiness, burning up with the chemistry and crying with sadness but it’s worth every minute! Silva has rocked my book world with a captivating emotion filled romantic suspense story about two people who are destined to be if only they allow themselves to claim what they deserve..... I cannot wait for the second part of their story!

This is throw my kindle, drop kick the hero and bow down to Georgina type of read. Outstanding! Smoke is exactly that, a smokin’ read that will set your panties on fire. The hot af chemistry between Georgina and Freddie slayed me! The author exceeded my expectations and then some. The Virtues and Lies series is a must read!

Exquisite torture. Smoke by Alexandra Silva is my favorite so far in this enthralling series. Her writing continues to be excellent, her characters real and intense and her plot well paced and alternating between super sexy and edge of your seat thriller.

Freddie has been an enigma since the beginning. A duke and a killer. He's reeling years after losing his girlfriend to suspected human traffickers. That, and a dysfunctional childhood, have caused him to seal his heart up so tight air can't even get in. He's sexy as heck and alpha male all the way. He's also trying his dangedest not to love Georgina. (Heavily toned down descriptors to get past evil censors.)

Georgina knows it's not healthy to accept Freddie as he is. He's violent. He's angry. He's doing everything to drive her away. She needs him to breathe though. She can see how much he needs her and she's more than willing to work at chipping down his walls no matter how long that takes. She could be tragic in her devotion to the man who can't be loved if she wasn't also strong and accomplished in her own right. She may be submissive in a few ways but she's stubborn and determined in most ways.

The stakes are as high for these two as the previous couples. The same unknown bad actors are trying to ruin the crew before the guys can ruin them. When they set their sights on Georgina Freddie loses it. He'll do anything to keep her safe. Anything.

I have to lead with, though brief, the torture scenes bother me. That's nowhere near enough to stop me from devouring the books. I love these tough alpha men but in my fantasy world they're not capable of such brutality. I know this makes little sense because they are meant to be no holds barred tough and the stakes are too high in their world.

I love that Freddie is so damaged. A tough guy with walls is always just my ticket. I, like Georgina, want to be the one and only who can give them love and so much more. He's the hardest case I think I've ever come across in a novel and it's a good thing Georgina is so goal-oriented and stubborn. Georgina didn't get to be the principle ballerina with the Royal Ballet by being soft and easy-going. She's able to meet Freddie at every turn. Freddie has such sweet and tender moments, like rearranging his furniture to match her home layout, that make him loveable to both Georgina and the reader. Good thing too because he can be a royal idiot too. I love the push and pull, the stark and intense emotions and the ending left me frustrated (in a good way) and hanging! I'm just lucky as a reviewer to have Flame already in my Kindle so I can find out where life takes these two and see if we get a conclusion to the arching mystery of who's behind all this evil mayhem.

Smoke by Alexandra Silva was fiery passion, twisted emotions and mind bending suspense brought together by the author's intense writing. Everything about this story is extreme. The sex. The love. The angst. The action. My heart is galloping and breaking so beautifully!

Smoke is the fifth book in Virtues and Lies series and though the books deal with different couples, it's better if you read previous books because it's set in one complex dark world and you may be lost without knowing the previous stories. Smoke is the story of Freddie and Georgiana. Freddie may be a Lord but he is the darkest, coldest and most dangerous man out there. He is haunted by the girl he lost eight years back and he has been consumed by darkness since then. Till Georgiana. The little ballerina who pushes light in his angry bruised heart. Only he can never be her. Specially when the past is not in the past.


Holy unrequited love angst of the world! I felt as if Alexandra Silva is squeezing my heart in her palm because this pain was way too much and way to beautiful. Freddie will make you melt and shiver. He has an edge that cut everything. He is fury and fear personified. He is part of a violent world but he is the worst out there. His calculating mind. His barely contained and unleashed power. He is in a broken mess with guilt and anger and he cannot see the way out. He doesn't want to love but he needs Georgiana like air. And this girl..wow. She was breaking my heart into a thousand pieces. She can be soft and supple and sweet and kind but she is so fierce at her core. Embracing Freddie's darkness needs some special strength for sure. And that too, after being rejected by him over and over. Their connection is a blazing inferno that provides warmth but also destroys everything. Freddie cannot risk another soul and his only way is to push and push even when that shattered Georgiana. This story was wicked hot with super hot and dirty talks and sinful scenes. And it was also a big puzzle with pieces scattered and I cannot guess which piece will fit where. I am just so so excited to see how this story ends as that cliffhanger left me in a mess!

I have been waiting so patiently 😇 for Freddie’s story—holy moly, what an incredible story it is too, and this is only the first half! It certainly has been worth the wait though and I can honestly say that once you open up Smoke, you’ll find it hard to put it down!

Dark, raw, gritty, intense—all of those terms apply to this story to make it so fantastic. Yet sprinkled throughout is the most amazing dry wit that leaves you literally laughing out loud. For example… “That cat’s going to find himself a new home under a bridge if he doesn’t get his act together. What a traitor.” 😆

Freddie is such a complex character. Never could you accuse him of being soft and cuddly but yet there is such a vulnerability about him that makes it is virtually impossible not to like him, or at least to be intrigued by him to want to know more. I desperately want to know more! 😁

Georgina was innocent in the life that she led but how do stay that way when dealing with Freddie? Her fascination and desire for him is almost an obsession yet you find yourself hoping she gets her happy ever after—I still am!

The mystery that surrounds and is the underlying element of this series is so tantalising because it feels like it’s just within our grasp yet then it’s not! 🤦🏻‍♀️😬 At the same time the build up of suspense is so intense it makes you crave for each book and this is the same for this book, actually even more. I look forward to reading Flame, the last book in the series even though I will be sad for it to finish.

Smoke is Freddy's story in the Virtue and Lies series, and no surprise, his story is more than the others. Freddy is the one on the edge of everything, brutality, humor, violence. His story is no different. Finally, we get his prologue, and that sheds some light on his psyche. And just for spice, let's add the beautiful ballerina Georgina (Casper's sister) into his volatile mix. She appears delicate and fragile, but she can handle Freddy like no one else, and she's not afraid of him.

Alexandra Silva draws further into this world of shadows and secrets as old ghosts suddenly appear, laying more questions and mysteries at our heroes' door. All tearing Freddy between a past and a possible future with Georgina. The constant undercurrent of his violent role and who he is bubbling beneath the surface of everything he does. There is a tension in Freddy that is palpable from page one, and all you want for him is calm. Only Georgina can bring that calm--but Freddy is fighting it.

Of course, Freddy's story takes two books, and of course, Freddy's story ends on a cliffhanger. But Flame (the rest of the story) is coming very, very soon. Smoke is a wonderful dark romance with tons of steam, angst, and mystery. You don't need to read the entire series, but I suggest it; it draws you in, and the stories are worth the read.

Holy Hotness!! Each book in the Virtues and Lies series has been better than the last one. Alexandra Silvia has masterfully weaved each book together and fully developed each character so that I was fully immersed in Freddie and Georgina’s story and holding my breath to see what would happen next.

“Georgina is the only thing that distracts me. When I’m with her, I can f***ing breathe and silence the chaos.”

Freddie is the ultimate alpha-hole. He’s crude, dirty talking and absolutely stalkerish and possessive but yet you can’t help but love him. When his past comes back, he’s determined to unravel the mystery and to protect Georgina no matter the personal cost.

“And every second he’s in my life, I fall deeper and deeper in love with him because his darkness is everything my soul craves.”

Georgina is strong, independent and feisty. She didn’t want to love Freddie, but now she is consumed by him. His darkness calls to her and she knows she can bring light into his world if he will only let her.

Freddie and Georgina’s story is romantic suspense that is full of angst, sizzling chemistry, and a longing that reaches through the pages and grabs ahold of the reader. I know the conclusion to their story in Flame is going to devastate me!!

Freddie and Georgina's story was always going to be dark and delicious, and this entree to their tumultuous affair delivers just that by the truckload!

The dance these two do around one another would make for a superb, dramatic ballet.
The push and pull of emotions and simmering, super-hot chemistry between these two, makes this story sing from the pages.
Freddie is barely holding onto to his control in trying to keep his Swan safe and at arms length whilst trying to uncover exactly what happened to the one he lost before such a fate falls foul of those he cares about again, whilst she fights to hang onto him and show him the love she feels he deserves.

The tension and drama is palpable; such is this authors ability to draw the reader in through her vivid description and character portrayal, though at times I did fatigue of their internal monologue, but it does support the building drama.

This is bound to be one hell of a conclusion to this fabulous series.
Hold on to your seats, it's going to be one hell of a ride!

OH MY SMOKIN HELL! There's nothing about this story that I didn't love (well maybe the cliffhanger because I'm impatient). Freddie has some impenetrable walls up, and he's the master of letting no one in, but he never saw Georgina coming. He has past demons that won't allow him to get close to someone, so his icy demeanor truly had me yelling colorful metaphors since Georgina was the best, and didn't deserve things he dished out. Luckily, she's not one to give up, and she definitely challenged him despite the fact that he may not let her know, so the sparks are flying in all directions with every last interaction. There's so much goodness to Smoke, and it seems like Ms. Silva has only scratched the surface with their story SO BRING ON FLAME ALREADY! I'm going to keep this short & sweet so you know what to do! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Well, well, well. Freddie has always been an interesting character in the Virtues and Lies series and while I don't think we know everything about him, what makes him tick, we are starting to learn that he is amazingly loyal to the cause. What we don't know is what he might be willing to give up in order to have what he seems to need most. Much of his adult life has been spent trying to find his missing paramour while also indulging in the here and now with someone else who loves his dark. Georgina seems to be the sweet, talented ballerina. Always there for her siblings, but always feeling like she doesn't quite belong in their world. Freddy must make decisions that will throw everything into the spin cycle and by the end of this story, I have absolutely no clue where Ms. Silva is taking us.

I went into this book not having read the previous 3, and so that may be why I struggled a bit. Or maybe it's that wasn't in the mood for a dark romance.

I read the book, and it definitely piqued my curiosity. The fact that there is this element of mystery (where was Lucy, who is coming after Georgina) definitely had me wanting to read more. I'm also really curious about Georgina and Freddie's relationship. Then there was the cliffhanger! I need to go read Flame so I can see how this ends. Will Georgina and Freddie get their HEA? What is going to happen with Lucy? Will the villain be defeated or will they escape?

I also, clearly, need to go back and read the first three, so I can better understand all that is happening.

What a read! I am breathless. Freddie's darkness and intensity are, at times, overwhelming and Georgina is unable to step away from his flame! He needs her, but isn't going to admit it. He will fight his desires where she is concerned, up to a point, but it is no holes barred when it comes to his search and the vengeance he will extract in blood! Heavens, he is one hard, hard man and Georgina is constantly crashing into that wall of determination! She definitely grows so much over this book. I love her and want her to be cherished, but the care she want is reckless and harsh.
This is a mile a minute book. It doesn't let up, but builds and builds and then...yes, the next book is needed, now! Fantastic! 💖💖💖💖💖

I absolutely adore this series and author.
I love how the last book has turned into two as I'm not ready to say goodbye to these amazing characters and plot. Then again I don't think I'll ever be ready.
Yet again the author has slayed with this book, you won't believe what you're reading or feeling, talk about wringing every emotion out of us.
As there are so many things at play, I'm leaving my review here, but do yourselves a favour and one click immediately.
Can't wait to dive into Flame after that ending even though I'm dreading the final curtain call.

This series that has already had so many twists and surprises delivers another that has the potential to change everything and break hearts.

Freddie is brutally intense he is a conundrum, cold and unfeeling shying away from emotions and commitment but he can also be possessive and jealous. The back and forth with Georgina is exhausting but the angst and drama keeps you coming back for more. The relationship is passionate and explosive I really don't know whether to admire her sticking power or tell her to cut her loses and move on. I am so invested in these two that I couldn't stop reading. Slowly some of the threads of the story are coming together looking forward to the next one.

Well, wow!! I wasn't sure what I was expecting but this was nothing like I ever could have imagined!!
I have to start by saying the writing is flawless and executed to perfection. You really get drawn in to Freddie and Georgina's story and you're there for the ride right along with them.
It's safe to say that this is a romance story of epic proportions and as much as I'm desperate to read their conclusion in Flame, i'm also scared.
I can't recommend this series enough! Without a doubt it's highly addictive and hauntingly beautiful!!

Freddie has been far from my favorite character is this series and it has been truth till, the complete story is revealed.
Georgina was not exactly as she appears yet she amazed me.
Their story won my heart and their love and strength will remain a part of my mind and live in my soul.
I got way more than I anticipated with these two and add them to a short list of favorites that I would read again. With that said, this author and series is worth adding to your library because once you read it you will want to continue sharing the love.

The overall plot of this series is like an incredible Netflix series. It is filled with drama, suspense, intrigue and angst. Freddie is an excellent anti-hero who the reader can't help falling for (and often wanting to smack too). Georgina is a very strong woman who has been left on the outskirts of the group. Together they have incredible chemistry but there story is filled with angst. This will leave you wanting the finale for this couple right away.

Wow just wow! They are amazing characters you had me hooked from the start. I love Freddie so much, his relationship with Georgina is something else. I love that he is such a dark anti hero with such a multi layered past that made him the man that he is today. I absolutely 150% love how sassy Georgie gets with him she gives as good as she gets from him. I love the nicknames and the family dynamics, I can’t wait for the next book to see how it ends.
