The trail of both mysteries will lead to the most shocking discovery of Nikki’s career and put her whole team in mortal danger.

DI Nikki Galena’s friend Helen Brook is involved in a serious accident where she is trapped in a collapsed cellar. Weeks on, Helen is still getting flashbacks to a man she says was down there with her and who confessed to a murder.
No trace of this man can be found. Then Helen tells Nikki that someone is watching her.

My first experience with Joy Ellis books.
Just finished these first five ('boxed' set), and loved every one of them.
The stories are wonderfully suspenseful and often actually frightening...
And the characters well developed.
I'm especially attached to Nikki, Joseph, and Rory...(he's a card, isn't he?) Oh! And Niall.
Actually, the whole of Nikki's team.
I finished this set last evening, and immediately went and got all 7 of the remaining books in the series. So I'm all set for the next few weeks. (I only read in bed....Been that way since I was 8/9/10 yrs old and into The Bobbsey Twins. lolol
If you love great crime stories, and haven't yet, give Joy Ellis books a try.

Love Joy Ellis Mystery books! I am reading book 6 started with 1-5,6 is a single book then7-9 are next then I0-I2. All E books and all the same characters. Nikki Galeno Detective Sargent books. I have loved reading all my life and I do have a lot of Authors that I follow. However, her stories are fantastic because the are not Same Ole Same Ole same theme different characters. So reading each volume is so exciting!!! These Books are from the UK and I Do belong to Amazon Unlimited reading and That's how I found them with their special company.

Totally hooked!
Five brilliant stories that lead on from each other. Give stories that draw you in to the lives not only of Nikki, but the whole team around her.
Each story is different to the one before but all based on the Fens. And throughout there is this undercurrent of evil personified that eventually comes to a climax. And there is just a lovely touch of humour from time to time mainly from Rory, the pathologist!
I thoroughly enjoyed this series and will be following up by reading the rest. Brilliant!!

If you like a good story, then the first 5 books is a good place to start
Although you could read them in any order as each book has a stand alone story, but the leading characters do have a story of their own intertwined that would make more sense to start at book one. Each of the first 5 in the series was exciting from beginning to end, all books were hard to stop reading, I could have kept reading but sleep and daily living got in the way. I can't wait to read book 6. If you like a great story, then these books are just for you to enjoy.

Well I had read book 1 and hadn't been impressed, couldn't think why on earth I had bought and downloaded the set but reviews for the other books were good. In fact I wasn't let down by the reviewers! I really liked the other 4 books. They were so much better and some of them were so tense that I read through the night until I had finished a couple of them. Would recommend the box set, takes ages to read though!

Well worth reading
Five books that feature Nikki and her DS Joseph Easter. I liked the way that their relationship evolved over the series, and the team that they built together. I liked the pathologist, Rory, who is a real character and believable. The stories are intriguing, entertaining and vividly descriptive of the Fens.

Addictive reading great plots beautiful description of the Fens.
Loved the way the author paints a picture of the landscape with words. The plots are multi layered to keep the reader guessing and page turning. The characters are likeable and draw you into their background life stories. I've read 1-5 and can't wait to read the rest.

an absolute pleasure to read. Each book took you deeper into the characters lives until they all became your best friends. Have just got Book 6 and cannot wait to start it.
Loved each character as they joined the team.

Detective Nikki Galena books 1-5.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading these five books. Each one was interesting , fast moving with a great plot.The only downside is that I wish that Nikki and her Sargent could have found away to be together. I would definitely recommend this series.

Wonderful story talking
Nikki Helena and her, previously ragtag, team come together in this set of stories.
You can see them all, their foibles and big hearts, that she brings into a formidable crime fighting force.
A hint of will they won't they between her sergeant and herself builds through the stories. Which are wonderfully told.

February 26, 2025I love this series. The characters are well-drawn with interesting, complex personalities that develop and intermesh over time. Nikki Galena is a strong leader as well as a vulnerable woman, capable of tackling heinous crimes and still preserve empathy and sensitivity to others. I hope the series will continue - these people are family now!

Brilliant U.K. Based crime box set.
Loved this crime box set. Character's likeable and relatable. Plot for each book is believable and detailed. Liked the fact it was also based in a less predictable part of the UK ( Lincolnshire)

First books I have read by Joy Ellis. such good tales.
I thoroughly enjoyed all five books. The characters appear so real. These may have been my first read By Joy Ellis but I intend to read as many as I can..Would certainly pass my opinion on to anyone who enjoys a good book.

Gripping Crime Stories
At great read with lots of twists. I loved the set up of the characters back stories in the first book and how they were carried through an expanded in each story.

Really good reading every page.
Series 1-5 I loved every one of the books. I enjoyed Nikki and Joseph's relationship. The books kept me wondering who the bad guy was to the end. Very good!

Spine tingling!
These 5 books kept me on the edge of my seat until the end! There were many plot twists and the endings were very unexpected! Very enjoyable reading! I didn't want it to end!

just good reads
She writes a good straight forward story, with just enough suspense each time, but not always a cliff hanger. Especially like the “ family” bonding of the department throughout the series. One of the few series that I wanted to keep reading.

Brilliant series
I love Joy Ellis and the Detective Nikki Galena series brilliant. Full of suspense, Facts, humor and a fantastic Detective!! I would definitely recommend this series. Once you start reading they are hard to stop. 5 star rating all the way.

This was an engaging set of British crime thrillers where DI Nikki Galena and team battle to solve murders. None are straightforward and I enjoyed the mystery and twists and turns...sometimes I did guess 'whodunit'.
Great characters and plots.
Thoroughly enjoyable.

A Good Read
A really enjoyable, rollercoaster ride, with as many twists and turns as said ride. An unputdownable set of books that have kept me awake for the last couple of weeks, but I won't spoil the ending. You'have to read them yourselves to find that out.
