Brielle Sutton is a good girl in her sophomore year of college. After surviving her brother's death, she's grown to love her quiet nights spent with her quirky friends and books, but when her best friend urges her to venture out to the hot, new club, all of campus is talking about everything is about to change.
With his tousled brown hair, tattoos, and bad attitude, the handsome Theo Wescott reappears in her life after five years. But he's not the same boy she knew growing up. He's rude, rich, and dead set on pushing her away. But as much as Brielle wishes she could resist, she can't. She's determined to find the real Theo again, and too soon, she's consumed by the dangers that are now a part of his life.
Theo Wescott is the ultimate bad boy. He's got the money, the cars, and the never-ending parade of women who throw themselves at him. That's when he sees her-Brielle; his light at the end of a very dark tunnel, reminding him of who he used to be. The cute blonde who teases his thoughts and forces him to relive the darkness of his past.
He knows he's playing with fire because being with her is wrong, but all it takes is one kiss for Theo to find himself questioning who he wants to be. And when his father begins pressuring him to take on more of a role in the family business, he becomes a man on the edge of no return. Leaving the only question that remains: how far will he go before he loses it all?

This book was hard for me to put down. I enjoyed how Jensen played with the push and pull between the two leads Theo & Brielle. Theo & Brielle's chemistry was firey hot & enjoyable throughout the entire novel. Besides the main characters, the supporting cast was hilarious & had minds of their own. Grab this book if you're looking for a steamy good time!
That ending...shocking. Literally couldn’t breathe at parts. I know it’s supposed to be a romance but it’s got a bit of thriller/suspense in it, too. My college-age self is jealous I didn’t have the college experiences Brielle did.
It’s not often you find a book that keeps you so interested you don’t want to put it down! Not only that, for it to be a brand new author at that!! With You kept me wanting more and not ready for it to end. It goes without saying that I recommend it highly and hope there is a second book to follow.
I couldn’t put this one down!! A complete binge read from start to finish. Such an amazing debut novel by Jensen - incorporating romance, action and suspense all in one. I adore the love story between Brielle and Theo, and I love how Jensen keeps you guessing about the ending throughout the entire book. You have no idea what exactly to expect, but it flows so well together, bringing the book to a satisfying end. I highly recommend it, absolutely cannot wait for the sequel!!
Such a great read! Not necessarily “my type” as far as genre goes but I’m glad I gave it a shot. I was hooked from the start. I definitely recommend for fans of all types of genres to give it a read!
This book was a recommendation from a friend, and I am so happy that I listened! Theo and Brielle's journey is real and takes you on an emotional trek you don't see very often. The ending made me cry, I read it twice, and each time it just gets better. The tiny details she winds within the story make it only get better. I honestly don't understand how this book hasn't blown up yet! I can only imagine it's only a matter of time! Thank you Maddie for the rec, I found a new author I absolutely love! Can't wait until she publishes more.
Okay so I got this book in my monthly book box and was instantly intrigued. I was even more intrigued by the aspect of a new author with her first book.
I'm going to start a little bit with some things I didn't care for with this book. The cover is extremely misleading. I know, never judge a book by its cover, but the cover in conjunction with the blurb gave me the impression I was possibly diving in to a sweet YA romance with a little edge. This book was a lot darker then that. Like a lot darker. By no means a dark romance, just not what I was expecting.
I understood to an extent that there was a level of innocence to Brielle, but some of it seemed a moot point one she'd been sneaking in to bars at such a young age and witnessed her brother being killed. It about killed me that when the book was in her POV proper terminology for male anatomy was avoided except for on really rare occasion.
Also while I understand this is a new author, some additional editing needed to be done as I caught numerous errors.
Here's what I loved...
I actually loved the grittyness that was Theo and that he could still fall in love and acknowledge his feeling for Brielle despite everything. He had a really crappy childhood and even going in to adulthood. Life was not normal for him.
This author shows a lot of promise and I hope his things are coming for her!
OMGOSH!! So many good things to say about this book!! Firstly, the relationship between Theo and Brielle is intense, in every way possible. But they are made to fit in each other's lives, and it definitely shows throughout the entire book!! They are officially my new favorite couple and I couldn't get enough of them. The interaction between them runs hot and cold on a regular basis but for good reason, read it and you will see what I mean, its worth every second!!
The way the story starts out is sweet and fun, and then immediately devastation hits when you least expect it. But its not all about just one life changing event, there are so many twists and turns that it keeps you on your toes, and I came to find out so many juicy little secrets along the way.
When I read further into the story, (and trust me it did not take me long to devour this book), it took on an entirely unexpected direction, a really really good one, and Jensen did such a beautiful job writing it, that it still fit the story line. Thats difficult to do.
I dont want to spoil anything, so I will just say this one last thing, READ THIS BOOK!! You will cry, but you will also laugh (Wes) and fall off your bed,(just like I did) at the shock factor when it comes to certain parts, but holy **** you will enjoy every minute of it!!
This story grabbed me from the very first chapter and surprised me with how emotional it became. Brielle instantly felt relatable, especially with the way she tries to heal from her brother’s death while still holding on to her quiet, safe routines. Watching her step out of that comfort zone and walk straight into Theo Wescott’s storm made the book impossible to put down.
Theo is exactly the kind of complicated character I love. The contrast between who he used to be and who he has become is gripping, and seeing Brielle try to reach the real him again adds so much tension. Their connection is messy, intense, and filled with moments that made me stop and think about how far people will go when they are hurt, scared, or trying to protect someone they care about.
The danger surrounding Theo, mixed with the emotional pull between him and Brielle, kept the story moving at a fast pace. I loved the push and pull, the chemistry, and the sense that their lives could fall apart at any second. It made the ending feel even more powerful.
Overall, this book felt raw, romantic, and full of suspense. I genuinely enjoyed every part of it.
Brielle Sutton hasn’t seen Theo Wescott in years. He was her brother’s best friend and ever since the tragedy happened, she hasn’t heard a word from him. A night out with her best friend at the new club in town brings her into the lion’s den of the man she used to crush on—and when their eyes meet, he doesn’t pay her much mind. He was one of the most important people in her life and for him to be unfazed at seeing her again makes Brielle angry.
Theo should stay away—he really wants to—but the attraction he felt for his best friend’s little sister is still as strong as it was the last time he saw her. Theo is a pawn in his father’s game, and he shouldn’t be dragging Brielle into it, but he can’t help himself. He couldn’t have her years ago out of respect for his best friend but that doesn’t matter anymore. And once he realizes he wants her—and I mean truly wants her, above everything—he’ll stop at nothing to get her.
The feelings between these two—the tension, the angst, the push and pull—are sky-high. At times I felt like I couldn’t breathe but I mean that in the best way. Each time one would start to let the other in, the other would pull further away. Their story is a matter of being vulnerable to trust, of letting someone in, about letting yourself love even though there’s a million reasons you shouldn’t—yet still finding the one reason you should.
Brielle and Theo’s story was beautiful. There was a never a dull moment and I could NOT put it down. There are some triggering topics discussed in the book—grief, violence, language, etc. So please be mindful when you’re considering reading.
It’s nothing short of amazing and you should definitely be reading this if you haven’t.
First of all, this book has been sitting on my shelf begging to be read for so long, I’m so thankful I finally had the chance to read it! Brielle and Theo are absolutely electric! You can feel the energy between them even when they’re young and they’re both a different sort of trouble, but when everything changes and he returns as the bad boy, while her new quiet side starts to disappear when he returns, watch out! This book is filled with drama, action, suspense, laughter, tears, friendships worth fighting for, love, romance, and steamy scenes that will leave you breathless. This is the kind of book that left me on the edge of my seat and desperate for more. I can’t wait to read her next one! This is definitely a must read I recommend!
This book is well worth the read. The story has just the perfect balance of swoon and flirtation. Jensen put time and thought into this novel. She's an impeccable storyteller. I can't wait to read more of her books.
