This ninth volume in The Plutarch Project examines the uses (and abuses) of power in the lives of three famous men. The book includes edited text for students.
I thoroughly appreciate Anne White's plutarch guides. They contain the original text, but material that is not suitable for children or or just too lengthy and not imperative to the story is omitted, with a brief reason why. I have sometimes read the omissions to my children, but I love how Anne has done the leg work so on hectic days we can just read and not have to worry. I appreciate her judgement with this; I read Dryden's description of Cato the Younger's death on my own, and I am glad she didn't include that! She also gives brief vocabulary/cultural phrases with definitions, places to find on the map, and historically and culturally significant events. These guides have helped me to get my feet wet with Plutarch and appreciate his writings.
