⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book Review:

🤓 I couldn’t put this book down. I actually read it while on vacation in Vegas! It’s that damn good.

More so, this book is extremely enlightening! Up until now, my perception of Schizophrenia was shrouded in the unknown with visions of people in straight jackets, mumbling to themselves in the worst way after going on a killing spree. I know... a bit extreme but that’s what ignorance affords us at times. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not only is the author, Jason Waters a pillar in the Charlotte skateboarding and art scene for over 2 decades -he is also a humble man that managed to pen this incredible book about his journey through life, looking at the world through the lens of Schizophrenia.

I laughed. I cried. I was in awe. I was in shock. I was inspired. I was enlightened! I can’t recall, ever reading a book that played my emotions like a well tuned harp being strum by an Angel.

I truly had no idea what or how Schizophrenia affects a human being. Especially one who oozes art and creativity from every pore. Jason successfully merged his passion for skateboarding with his battle with Schizophrenia -in a well articulated, entertaining and emotional book.

I am a better human being for having read this autobiography. I used to think Jason was a rad dude. Now I know he has been touched by an Angel and his story sheds divine light on a taboo subject that needs more attention; Mental Health Awareness.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to get a front row, rollercoaster ride about a skateboarder with Schizophrenia. This ordinary man, overcame extraordinary circumstances to become a community leader and a shining advocate for the importance of demystifying mental health issues through raw, honest and powerful stories about his personal journey.

Thank you, Jason for pouring your heart and soul into this book. It is destined to change lives like it has mine. God bless you my friend.

I very much enjoyed reading this book. Jason does an excellent job walking you through his journey and keeping the reader engaged. If you skated in the 1990s, especially in Charlotte, reading this book will take you back to the days of Rock and Roll Emporium, Seven Doors Down, Methodist Home Skatepark and other pillars of the skate scene at that time. This was an interesting read specifically for me, as my own timeline weaved in and out of Jason's in this book. I attended the Demo behind RNR Emporium with Rodney Mullen in the mid 1990s, and coincidentally Jason introduced himself to me a few years later while we had a chance encounter downtown at night while I was skating and I think he was working or getting off work. Later, when I worked at Seven Doors Down, Jason was a regular and I always looked forward to when he'd show up at the shop and hang out. I'm very happy to now have insight into Jason's personal life and understand better the challenges which he has overcome. I'm happy to say that our paths still cross from time to time and I look forward to reading more about Jason and his experiences.
