CBA Bestselling author PAM HILLMAN was born and raised on a dairy farm in Mississippi and spent her teenage years perched on the seat of a tractor raking hay. In those days, her daddy couldn't afford two cab tractors with air conditioning and a radio, so Pam drove an Allis Chalmers 110. Even when her daddy asked her if she wanted to bale hay, she told him she didn't mind raking. Raking hay doesn't take much thought so Pam spent her time working on her tan and making up stories in her head. Now, that's the kind of life every girl should dream of. www.pamhillman.com
I've loved books featuring lumberjacks ever since I read The Measure of Katie Calloway by Serena B. Miller. It also reminds me of a movie I saw in my childhood- The Journey of Natty Gann. I love the setting of the woods, the era, and the hardworking ethic of the people in the industry- both men and women. This novella by Pam Hillman brought all of that to life. Eli's first impression of Lucy is that she's too fragile for the life, but she quickly proves him wrong with her eagerness to help and determination to learn. It's so sweet how Eli's mother teaches Lucy how to cook since she no longer can. I wish the timeline was a bit longer for their romance to add more depth, but it is a lovely story and one I enjoyed reading. This author's writing style appeals to me.

The Lumberjack’s Bride is book two in Pam Hillman’s A Mississippi Piney Woods novella series. This delightful story is a short, fun read. The characters, especially Eli, are fantastic and I enjoyed seeing the characters from the previous book, The Evergreen Bride, make appearances. I especially loved Lucy’s penchant for crocheting since I enjoy the same hobby.
If you’re looking for a quick story to read one afternoon, The Lumberjack’s Bride is a fabulous choice!

Can a city girl from Chicago find happiness in the Mississippi backwoods? Lucy Denson does not think so when her father moves the family, and she finds herself as a cook for a logging crew and is very anxious to return to Chicago. Will Lumberjack Eli Everett convince Lucy that she can find happiness staying in the piney woods rather than returning to Chicago. I have read other novellas in this series originally published as the 12 Brides of Summer Novella Collection. I enjoy the feel good, happily ever after stories that flow from Author Pam Hillman’s pen. I received a complimentary copy. The opinions are my own.
Another sweet story by Pam. This one is about finding out what you think you want is not always what your heart truly desires. Raised for the last eight years in Chicago, Lucy doesn't want to be in backwoods Mississippi until she realizes Eli is exactly what she does want.
