Whether you want to know more about the gaming industry or User research methodologies or BOTH, Steve Bromley has written an effortlessly accessible book. He lays out the workings of User research for games in a way that's easy to digest for newbies while also offering a clean chapter-by-chapter resource guide that's easy to go back to anytime one needs a particular piece of information. If you're looking to get into GUR, start here, and then keep this book close as you elevate in your field.

It's a great introduction into GUR, straight to the point without proza and useless fluff. It's very high level but gives you a good overview of the job. Together with his previous book, which has templates for several steps in the process, this is a great resource to get an idea of the job and advice to start in the industry. It's an introduction, so if you are interested in this job, you have to dig further and learn much more

Brilliant book on the basics of how to be a Games User Researcher if you’re interested in the field.

The only reason I haven’t given it 5 stars is because I had completed Steve Bromley’s online course first, and it’s far more detailed and came with some tokens to be able to use the information to conduct my own research studies.

Both are massively worth the money and I had some great takeaways from this book.

A very basic user research book with game elements sprinkled in. For someone that has been in the field for many years, I took away a few things but most is a basic refresher.
