Gabriel Farago is the USA TODAY Bestselling and Multi-Award-Winning Australian Author of the Jack Rogan Mysteries Series for the thinking reader and culturally curious.

As a lawyer with a passion for history and archaeology, Gabriel had to wait for many years before being able to pursue another passion—writing—in earnest. However, his love of books and storytelling started long before that.

Born in Budapest, Gabriel grew up in post-War Europe, and after fleeing Hungary with his parents during the Revolution in 56, he went to school in Austria before arriving in Australia as a teenager. This allowed him to become multi-lingual and feel ‘at home’ in different countries and diverse cultures. Shaped by a long legal career and experiences spanning several decades and continents, his is a mature voice that speaks in many tongues.

Gabriel holds degrees in literature and law, speaks several languages and takes research and authenticity very seriously. Inquisitive by nature, he studied Egyptology and learned to read the hieroglyphs. He travels extensively and visits all of the locations mentioned in his books.

‘I try to weave fact and fiction into a seamless storyline,’ he explains. ‘By blurring the boundaries between the two, the reader is never quite sure where one ends, and the other begins. This is of course quite deliberate as it creates the illusion of authenticity and reality in a work that is pure fiction. A successful work of fiction is a balancing act: reality must rub shoulders with imagination in a way that is both entertaining and plausible.’

Gabriel lives in the Blue Mountains in Australia just outside Sydney, surrounded by a World Heritage National Park.

If you like historical thrillers, excitement, mystery and suspense, if you enjoy exotic settings, colourful characters and fast-paced action, if you like to learn about interesting, well-researched subjects that tease your intellect and imagination, then once your step inside, Gabriel will show you his world; the world of the storyteller.

Shaped by a long legal career and experiences spanning several decades and continents, his is a mature voice that speaks in many tongues.

His first book – The Empress Holds the Key – will take you on an exciting quest for a holy relic mysteriously erased from the pages of history. You will be transported far back in time to the reign of Akhenaten, the heretic pharaoh of ancient Egypt, and King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. You will discover a dark secret guarded by the Knights Templar and feared by the Vatican, a mystery that has haunted the Catholic Church for centuries, and can challenge the very foundations of Christianity.

His second book – The Disappearance of Anna Popov – will thrill you in a different way. You will enter the dangerous world of an outlaw bikie gang. You will travel to the remote dreamtime wilderness of outback Australia where the ruler is an evil master, outcasts are heroes, and cruelty and violence are admired and rewarded. You will meet Cassandra, an enigmatic psychic. Using her occult powers to avenge an old, deep wrong, she sets the scene for an epic showdown where the stakes are high and the loser faces death and oblivion.

His third book –The Hidden Genes of Professor K – a medical thriller, was released in July 2016. Cutting-edge medical research meets the ruthless, dangerous world of pharmaceutical empire billionaires, where unbridled ambition and greed threaten to destroy the dreams of a visionary scientist with the power to change the future of medicine, and the journey of man.

A writer like Gabriel, sees the world through a different lens. Using creativity and imagination, He endeavours to weave fact and fiction into seamless stories that have only one aim: to entertain you.

Jack Rogan receives a phone call during horrendous battle in Afghanistan, he knows something is terribly wrong; who forwards a telephone call to the front! There is ! His father is dying. With his last breath, Rogan’s father tells of a long held secret. The revelation that shocks Jack to the core and leaves him pondering who he really is, and where he came from. Jack decided to uncover the secret, to find out who he really is. He decides to find out who he really is. His path takes him around the world. He does not know what to do what direction he should. He turns to an old friend for help. He purses the clues of his existance to the far edge of the world. Will Roger succeed? He path takes him from the outback of Australia’. He follows the clues wherever they take him. Will the truth – if and when he finally finds it– crush him, or will lifting the curtain of uncertainty and doubt be liberating, and finally bring peace by showing him who he really is? Farago keeps the action gritty that complements Jack’s derring-do exploits. Readers will relate to the deeply troubled, vulnerable and yet resilient Jack, who never stray into superman territory. Lovers of intense action thrillers will be rewarded." I found Farago to be a talented author. He is a talented story teller. Great Novel! It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention to the end. The world building is detailed and imaginative. This novel has strong well developed characters and an interesting story line that keeps you turning the pages. I recommend this novel and would read more novels by this author. I gave this honest, voluntary review after being given a free copy of the novel.

A Trio of Spellbinding Tales

This three volume set has a variety that is unique in boxsets. While all three are thrillers and share some common characters the stories are clearly different in topic and in their telling. In The Empress Holds The Key we have a story of mystery that appears to be nearly unknowable yet our hero, Jack Rogan, who possess refined research capabilities is able to delve into the story and find the "hidden key" to unlock the mystery. The second book tells a longer and much more convoluted tale of mystery, deception, honor, love and faith in the Disappearance of Anna Popov. While the Empress book was a tale that had its twists and turns the Disappearance of Anna Popov was spellbinding. It was, for the most part, totally un-put-down-able! The third book about Professor K's Hidden Genes was a welcome thriller closing out the series. The premise here is the complexity of the human genome and it's endless possibilities of discovery, development and, unfortunately, deceit can be used to, shall we say, thwart the desired outcomes of zealous researchers for personal gain. All the books are intriguing in their plots, characters and outcomes. I heartily recommend them to all who seek thrilling stories to feed our imaginations and enjoyment.

Worth so many more stars!

Just an incredible journey with these three books. Found the first biographies going with Jack Rogan not really coming into his own until later in the story. But it is vital for background and for the underlying theme that comes to the fore in book three.
Full of action that draws you in so you are there with them . The author has really done his research as you will find out when reading. Especially in the third book involving cancer busting drugs twinned with Aztec ceremonies and medicines.
A fabulous read and so we now have to get the next Jack Rogan mystery.

Gripping, Riveting, Outstanding Writing

It takes a lot to impress me, but Farago has done it.
Having been a professional editor and epublisher, I have an acute eye for storyline, plot, action sequences and fact accuracy.

Garage does his homework and crafts masterfully woven tales full of history, suspense, romance, and intrigue, all while being historically and scientifically accurate.

Definitely one of the finest series I've read, the Jack Rogan Mysteries are nothing short of sold genius.

If I could give Farago more than 5 stars, I would.

I don't often buy box sets as I prefer a gap between books as they can get too much the same. No problems on that score with these though. Always something new to learn and keep you wanting more. Great read as always.

The first book (the Empress holds the key) it was a sort of Indiana Jones meets the Da Vinci code on speed and it got me gripped. It was fast paced and very enjoyable, and seemed well researched. The thing I didn't like was that people seemed to move on too quickly and too easily from death and tragedy. I mean Carrington's wife and daughter were only JUST killed in the most horrific circumstances, and he is already showing interest in Jana. And poor Chief inspector Haddad. He is resourceful, loyal, tireless and determined, and in the end saves everybody's life while giving his own, and two of his men, and he doesn't even get another thought or mentioning. How callous. I think the final toast of the survivors should have gone to him, not the stupid violin.
In the second book (The disappearance of Anna Popov) Jack Rogan started to get onto my nerves. In book 1 his house is a mess, in this book he all of a sudden owns an art collection, he collects and rrestores furniture, he is an accomplished motorcyclist, he knows everything about everything and is a lady killer. Oh come on. Again, we see a loyal friend killed - but why? Why did he go back for the baby, which wasn't in immediate danger, unlike Anna? I am sure the two native women would have taken care of him for the time being. Still, a fast paced and enjoyable read with a lot of twists and turns, and a lot of interesting facts about Aboriginal history and myths.
In book 3, The Hidden Genes of Professor K, I liked the science part of the story (being a scientist myself) and again the writing is fast-paced and engaging. But other than that, things get truly silly. Money is no object and everybody is jetting around the world all the time, and staying in luxury accomodation, and champagne flows freely, how convenient. And again, people recover remarkably quickly from any ordeals - Alexandra is apparently subjected to some serious sexual abuse, but immediately gets back to work in her lab. And all of a sudden everybody is related to everybody. Phew. Tough stuff to swallow and really pushing the borders of credibility.
Just to add, a thing that bugs me (call me pedantic), but throughout all three books, there is a number of silly and avoidable minor errors and inconsistencies which separately are not a big deal but combined are irritating. In the fight of Pigeon vs. the Wizard, Pigeon's right eye was hit and swelling, but a few pages later it's his left eye that's swollen shut. Jana keeps "stirring the omelette", not once, but twice. If there was ever a dish that doesn't need stirring, it's an omelette. Jana buys floaty skirts in the bazaar after being freed and having no other clothes, but later wears trousers. Several men (including ex-Nazi Eric Newman) wear their hair "parted neatly in the middle" - which bloke in the world, especially ex-military, would sport such an odd look? In one scene, Jack runs his hands along the lapels of his bomber jacket. I never heard of any bomber jacket with lapels. According to the timelines in book 3, Isis is born in 1962. This would make her ca. 50 years old at the time of the story, which seems a bit old for a transgender mega heavy metal star who all the time looks "stunning". In Book 2, Jack gets quite seriously involved with his PR agent Rebecca, and it looks very much like love. However in book 3 she has disappeared or simply become his "agent" again, with no explanation given. I could go on...
All in all, I enjoyed the box set, it was a mad and fast paced ride, but I don't think I will come back for more.

First-rate entertainment!

The Jack Rogan series is an exceptional mystery/thriller series by any standard. The main character, Jack Rogan, described by the author as an incorrigible rascal, is an iconic character with a solid practicality, an unquenchable curiosity, and an enviable determination to solve any mystery presented to him regardless of the danger or the seemingly insurmountable obstacles he invariably faces. His sempiternal sense of morality and justice fuel his unwavering commitment to solving that mystery.

Each of these three books presents a masterfully crafted mystery, beautifully described exotic locales, and meticulously researched subject matter involving topics both historical and current which are deftly woven into fast-paced, action-filled adventures. The diverse cast of complex and well-developed characters include individuals spanning the gamut from lovable to loathsome and all of whom leave lasting impressions which compel you to think about them long after finishing a story. Each story features such smoothly flowing narrative that you find yourself wholly absorbed by the events unfolding and utterly oblivious to the passage of time until harsh reality rears its unforgiving head to remind you that you have to get some sleep before the sun makes its inevitable and all too imminent appearance. The end result is, unfailingly, an enthralling tale which commands your undivided attention from the first sentence to the last and leaves you with an insatiable craving for the next Jack Rogan adventure. Do I recommend this series? Unequivocally.
