Current scholarship suggests it was originally composed/written? in the latter half of the 1400s.

Robert Frank recorded a translated version of the ballad, which he speaks while playing music. Oxford scholar Douglas Gray commented that this is almost certainly how the original tale would have been performed.

I read the transcription for a literary research project. Turned out to be useless in the end, but it was.. Interesting. My favourite part is when he helped the knight. So sad when the prioress betrayed and killed Robin, i kinda liked him. though i do not really approve of his liking for extensive torture and corpse disfiguration. Oh wait, that’s the other book.
