J.E. Cluney is a full-time author who lives on the Sunshine Coast in Australia. She spends her days writing, binging on TV shows, and reading. With a slight addiction to chocolate to fuel her midnight writing.
J.E. Cluney has many projects lined up in the reverse harem genre, and her best-selling series, 'Corviticus University' is only one of many.
First of all, I AM seeing some improvements in the editing. There are still some moments where there are little errors that prick my radar, but there was less repetition, and Revelations DID feel cleaner, a bit more polished than book one. For me, seeing progress is more important than seeing perfection, so that's something I can live with as a reader.
Now on to the big stuff! One of the aspects I like most about this series so far is that it has some silliness to it. While there are meaningful and serious arcs going on- Ally's developing relationships with the guys and her quest to figure out who and what she is- we still get the chance to laugh out loud at the most recent mischief magic mishap or awkward overshare that Ally and the guys weren't expecting.
Revelations shows us a greater connection between Ally & her guys, especially Marcus and Oliver. They're getting to know more about each other, and their relationships are deepening as they open up to each other and become more of a unit. Skip and Lucas are still present, and Skip, especially, seems like he's hopefully going to get his time to shine soon. We get some cute moments that show he's more than just a handsome shifter playboy, and I like that he's making the effort to be a better person for Ally.
Overall, I was entertained by Revelations, though I was left wanting a little bit more. Although........MINOR SPOILER..............................................................................................the mystery of what Ally's heritage is hiding is revealed by the end of Revelations, there's still so much more I wanted to know. I wanted to meet some of her family members, but it seems that won't happen until the next book. I wanted to know more about the dangerous being that is coming for her, but we don't get too much info other than what it is since Ally is still mostly in the dark.
Will Revelations be one one of those books that I come back to over and over again as the years go by? I'm not sure. Am I genuinely entertained, interested, and curious to see what happens next? Yes. And since the series is available on Kindle Unlimited, I feel totally confident in using my time to read it.
Relationship Type: RH> Reverse Harem, MFMMM, but technically MFM-ish right now. M/M(?): I’d still consider it hinting. Pacing: This book is both fast and slow, not entirely sure if I like it or not. It does feel too convenient in some places, but this is a 6 book series so hopefully it’ll pace better. Heat: 3.5-4ish/5 Romance: 3/5 Drama: 3.5-4/5 Suspense: 4/5
I’m currently reading the 6 Book Boxset so I’ll be jumping into the next book now ☺️
The Good 1) Male jealousy/possessiveness is concern for the female lead's heart, not protecting their ego. 3) Lucas/Lucy concept is unique. 2) Lucas is presented as sex positive. 4) Plot-driven storyline is developed and fleshed out.
The Neutral 1) Not a complete story, more like an installment of a serial novel 2) Story is not university-focused as series name implied. 3) Rambling slice of life story structure continues.
The Mediocre 1) Sex scenes
The Bad 1) Still desperately needs beta readers and editor. 2) Too many scenes that set up and/or build nothing. 3) Lead female continues to think and react like a needy bitch-in-heat as opposed to sex positive. 4) Having lead female walk in on the livingroom threesome came off as idiotic, given there were three available bedrooms for a more private and comfortable time just up the stairs. 5) The sex/post-sex scene when Ally is on her period involving Marcus going down and Skip bursting in after was not sexy or funny, it was tasteless and repellent.
I can't recommend it but am going to at least start the next one because I am curious about her third bloodline which was revealed at the very end of this book.
As Allison begins Costco sampling her way through her housemates, danger lurks in the shadows. The race is on to find out just what kind of supernatural she is, and why the wendigo is hunting her.
Spice 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ Blueballs 🫐 🫐 🫐 The horniness keeps horning and some people are not getting the action they yearn for.
Pros: The housemates are still likeable. There is plot and stuff happens. The spice is reasonably well written.
Mids: The writing continues to let down this series. The author’s apparent inability to tell the difference between two, too and to made my left eye twitch several times.
Cons: Allison continues to have pick me girl moments and this continues to not endear her to me.
Final words: Ollie in his cat form should be enshrined as a national treasure.
I really want to rate this book higher. The only reason it's not is because there is so much sexual talk, it's a bit excessive. I'm down for some spice in my books, but I feel this series would be almost half as long without it. They talk about past sexcapades, wanting to have it in the future (or present), other people having it in the moment... personally, I find myself a bit put off by it all.
That aside, I'm still enjoying the story a lot and the mystery. There's some times the book has some filler that it probably doesn't need, but it doesn't last long, thankfully.
After the first book, which lacked a plot and was too detailed with mundane things, this one was a tad better. The author provided details but not about every second in one day. The story still moves slowly though. The mystery of her origin is okay, but all of the roadblocks seem too convenient- really a goat forgot what Ally is? The sexy times are interesting, but the author needs another word for Marcus's eyes (frosty or icy every time) also all the moaning and purring descriptions just got irritating after a while. I wanted to read the second book just to see where the store was going. I'll admit, I skimmed a lot. The characters didn't become more developed over time. Oh and side note...thank you thank you thank you for not having the vamp drink monthly blood that would have made me stop reading altogether. I sighed in relief when Ally finally said no to it...mad she considered it still. Sorry had to add it and sorry not sorry about the spoiler.
Better than the first book with the dialogue and errors being better.
I just don’t like the sexual relationships. It’s kind of MM kind of not. It’s just weird and had me skipping large parts.
Lucas can change into a female and all the guys get with him constantly in that form.
So while they are all pursuing the FMC and telling her how interested they are in her, they are still screwing each other, all except Marcus. Which makes him my favorite, he’s the only one faithful to her. This is more of a regular poly relationship and NOT an RH. RH is where the guys are all into the girl, not being into each other. It’s like the guys have no self control and any hint of anything has them running to bang each other.
Don’t think I will continue this series or author. A warning would have been nice as to some this isn’t true RH and has MM/cheating in it.
Still loving the Aussie-ness. There was a bit more intrigue in this book than the first one (which I enjoyed). I liked the scenes of Ally and her housemates just hanging out and I liked getting to know them all a bit better. I'm really interested to see what happens in the next book!
I was so happy to see book 2 of this series coming out on audio. I did have to relisten to book 1 since its been over a year since that audio released but I am so glad I did! It made for a more impactful listening of book 2.
I thought book 2 upped the ante and made me fall for this world and NEED to know what happens next. I hope we don’t have to wait another year to have book 3 on audio because I am gonna try to wait to listen to the whole series because I enjoyed the narrators so much ❤️ Let’s talk about the narration first. A lot of my comments still apply with the accent coming in and out. Like you can tell one of them is not a native Aussie but thats ok, they do a good job with the accent about 80% of the time. I thought their performances though were even better in book 2 than book 1. I felt their emotions, the love forming, the chemistry, the fear with the creature, the frustration when people weren’t helping/couldnt get answers, the happiness and this family unit forming and strengthening, the anger with a horrible ex and laughter when things don’t go her way hahahaha. Great job with the narration, helps immerse me into this world and I didnt want to come up for air!
Story was great in this one, we get to see Ali make friends with Emma and I enjoy their camaraderie and growing friendship. I was shocked by her mom’s revelation and it helped paint the picture more with what happened to her family, her upbringing, some weird stuff been going on recently. I enjoyed seeing Marcus do a total 180, he became one of my favorites in this sequel. The way he let her in, was there for her, listened in to help, connected on a physical level, allowed some sharing to happen was perfection. Loved him so much in this one. Ollie was adorable and I was so happy to see him get some spotlight moments. I hope Ali can get rid of his curse though, that would be pretty epic. I enjoyed the racing/horse aspect of his story, made me smile and added to this great world this author has created. I thought Skip to me was the odd man out a lot of the time, I hope he gets some time with Ali in book 3, he deserves it! I am intrigued by Lucas and his changing up his appearance, could be for some interesting and hot sexy scenes! I do love that he is being his authentic self and he is trying so hard to protect everyone.
I cannot wait to get more explanation after that ending in book 2, with a reveal that didnt make total sense to me but can’t wait to see how the author explains it in book 3. I hope we get more with Emma and seeing more of the expansion of Ali’s powers not that we know she isn’t just a wolf and pixie hybrid. I really liked seeing the craziness expand as she thought she had a handle on her powers but they throw a curveball at her haha. I also enjoyed her mischief magic, made for some amazing scenes and laughs.
Overall 4.5-5 stars for book 2 (rounded up because I was so engrossed in this story!), cannot wait til we get book 3 on audio 😊
I love the bond he has with Ally and how the true Marcus is coming out in his concern and caring for Ally. I also thought it very interesting the author touches on Ally getting her period and Marcus can feel her cramps so he heats up a heat pack for her and brings her what she needs. How swoon-worthy is that! Because how many men really understand when you are cramping at that time of the month and feel crummy?
I'm okay with Oliver but he's just too meek and timid for me. We see glimpses of the real Skip but mostly Allison is just oogling him because he's apparently allergic to shirts so his chest is always on display. Lucas is a bit of an enigma, alpha and he's also concerned about Ally but more aloof. So it doesn't quite feel that he's connecting with her at the level which Marcus and Oliver are.
It seems a bit... far-fetched that Allison and three of the guys (except Marcus) have horrible families. I hated that Lucas' father wouldn't take him seriously when he tried to alert his father to something strange going on. Even if you're estranged from your son or dislike him, you're an Area Enforcer and you shouldn't let the personal stuff get in the way of your professional duty. Glenda, Oliver's ex is just weird and OTT and I don't get why Grayson couldn't say no to the arranged match, surely their families can't force him to mate with her? But it's hilarious how Allison loses her temper and then her pixie magic goes haywire and Glenda gets what she deserves. All the more funny because it wasn't even intentional. Also how is it that both Lucas and Oliver's grandfathers are wonderful? Like, their stories are so similar...
The thing with Lucas and how he chooses to 'play' in a different form is a bit weird and I hope we won't see him doing that with Ally in the next two books. I feel sad for Marcus and almost wish that his vampirism could be reversed. But I only feel a little bad for Oliver because his situation is kinda funny. I'm wondering though if somehow Ally will be able to break his curse, although even the witch who cursed him couldn't reverse it. We don't know yet what kind of powers Ally has, so it's possible she can do all kinds of stuff that no one ever imagined.
We finally find out what Ally is at the end of the book, but it's a huge cliffhanger because we don't know what that means. But since I came in knowing that this is a four-book series, I'm okay with the cliffhanger.
Pretty good for a reverse harem college romance Audiobook version: 4 stars overall, 4 stars story, 5 stars narration
This is part 2 of a paranormal reverse harem serial series. The writing style is not quite my cup of tea, but fans of steamy academy romance would like it. I sometimes got bored with the chatty feel of the heroine Ally's thoughts, and the promised revelations about Ally's mysterious powers took forever to get revealed. I did really like how Ally's four roommates had distinctive personalities and all really cared about Ally's happiness and safety. They were all good guys. The vampire even retrieved Ally's maxi pads and a heating pad without any prompting from her; now that's romantic! I got hooked enough on the storyline that I plan to listen to the next book in the series. The setting at a paranormal college in Australia and the dual narrators' excellent Australian accents increased my enjoyment. This book had numerous short but steamy bedroom scenes with Ally and her various boyfriends. A couple of scenes included a little MMF interaction. The angst level is low.
The pair of narrators did an excellent job. They have very pleasant voices, excellent accents, and are skilled at both male and female voices. They talked rather slowly, so I listened at 1.3x speed. The dual narrators matched each character's voice very well, which is very impressive. About 75 percent of the chapters were from the heroine's perspective, so the male narrator did not get much time in the book.
I requested and received a free audiobook copy from the publisher. I voluntarily wrote this honest review. #PFPAudio #PinkFlamingoProductions #TheFlockVIPReviewTeam
This is like baby monster erotica for those just wanting to get a toe in, but not fully commit to the weirdness. We have a male shifter who changes into a woman and all the housemates take a turn screwing, orgasm mischief magic, barbed cat shifter penis (but they’re soft barbs, so it’s okay), and a double kangaroo penis that has not yet come into play. It straddles that line between the genres but doesn’t fully commit to the weirdness. It’s very sex positive, but the scenes on page aren’t anything beyond usual spicy scenes. But the potential is there for some future freaky ship. The flashback scenes are super weird, seeing as most of the time they’re events that have literally just happened and there’s no reason to be a flashback. We could just read the scene in current tense, and it really throws you out every time it jumps to italics to tell you something from an hour ago, despite being the start of a chapter three hours later. It’s honestly an odd choice and it doesn’t work, just interrupts the flow. Not a huge amount of plot development, but I didn’t notice while reading it. I like all the guys, and the protective vibes are doing it for me. The group dynamics are done really well, and I love the little Aussie details scattered everywhere. There is nothing more annoying than reading a book set in Australia when the author gets half of it wrong, but this is very definitely written by an Aussie. Gotta have milo on our ice cream.
Revelations, indeed. We learned a little bit more about Ally and her abilities. This whole book focused on the relationship development with her and her guys. I don't LOVE the story. It definitely needs more plot. Maybe we'll see more of that in book 3. Still the same complaints as book one. The men aren't that distinctive, in my opinion. Marcus stands out to me and Ollie is growing on me.
The storyline with Lucas/Lucy is....unique. I'm not sure how I feel about it just yet. I'm all for the sexual liberation. But the....accessibility...sits with me funny. I'm very pro-LGBT. I don't mean that's what is bothering me. I just mean...it feels weird right now. I'm wondering if that storyline goes anywhere else. As the storyline was introduced, Lucy feels like she's simply used. And I don't like that.
That other guy I can't remember his name right now. Doesn't stand out to me at all.
MAJOR grammatical errors. Double quotations. Incorrect form for "too". Editor required.
Corviticus University: Revelations by J.E. Cluney is a reverse harem paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Les Horovitz and Liz Wilder. This is the second book in the Corviticus University series.
I am enjoying the relationship that is blooming between Allison, Marcus, Oliver, Lucas, and Skip. I can't wait to see how it will progress over the course of the series. I liked getting all of their points of views throughout the book.
I can't wait for the next book in the series Corviticus University: Void to be released on audio so I can get more of their story.
Les and Liz did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you're looking for a paranormal romance or reverse harem romance.
As I said after book 1, I love the series. The character are interesting and funny, the storyline is there(not sure what people are talking about). The series is based in Australia and has a glossary at the end for those that can't understand the slang. There are more twists and turns as the series progresses and I fell more in love every page I read. I feel sorry for those who gave up and didn't finish the series. I downloaded the bundle and read the books back to back, so maybe that is partially why I didn't mind the timing.
3.5 stars Fastburn RH with lots of sexy time. I would have preferred a little more balance between the underlying story of Ally discovering her powers and history, some actual active hunting of the wendigo and the sex romps but overall it was enjoyable. I really liked that it was set in Australia. I also liked that while the bond is centred around Allie there is a relationship between all of them. It feel more like a true poly relationship between them all, especially with Luke/Lucy in the mix. I would have like to see more of Allie and Emma’s friendship.

Just as I suspected! This is one interesting long approach to the story! I believe J Cluney is deliberately trying to twist us up with this story! It’s definitely got some hidden subtleties going on! The characters are stellar and well developed. I’m hoping she brings Emma more in to play as the story moves along. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out. I know it’s planned now for at least 6 books and only 4 soon to be 5 are out. I love her writing style, it’s very witty and a lot of fun. I’m very interested in reading the next book.
3.5 I still really love her relationships with the boys and the steamy scenes are very steamy and well done. Overall this was a really fun read but there were things that kept me from giving it a four rating. I didn't like how long it took to get to the big reveal and the fact that it was on the last page was a bit of a bummer but I am curious to continue on with the series and see what the revelation does for the friend group.
Things happen in this one!! Don't get me wrong there is still filler content in this book: I think if you want to continue reading this series/author you going to have to get used to it but I like the more relaxed moments of the book as downtime from the more heavy plot of this book. It still does have quite a slow pacing mind you that can detract from the stakes at some points and sometimes the filler isn't placed well in moments of high intensity.
I started this series as part of the rh challenge, but now I'll be finishing it because J.E. Cluney does an amazing job pullinh you in. The characters have quirks and little things that make them more personable. It makes you adore them.
The plot is thick n twisty. I was sble to guess the what but the rest is keeping me on my toes.
The spice is 🔥🔥🔥🔥/🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 it continues to get hotter n hotter. 🥵💦
This is an ok series, this is book 2 and they need to be read in order. I didn’t connect with any of the characters and wasn’t interested enough to continue from here. It’s not that there are issues with the writing, it’s just not clicking for me. I found myself doing anything and everything to delay reading it. It’s completely a perusal preference thing and has nothing to do with the author. If you’re interested give it a go. I hope you enjoy it more than I.
Was a great sequel to the first. The link she has with the guys and the way she uses is hilarious and love that they don't get mad. The whole bed scenes are done well. She does seem to want it all the time, which seems to be new to her since coming to the house. But seems to be done well. Love that she has a sweet tooth.
This 2nd book brings so much more to the relationships and mysteries of the characters. I love how much closer the FMC and her housemates are growing. Some of the antics in the book had my cheeks hurting from the smiles and laughter. We got more info about our girl, but more mystery too. I'm excited to see what's next on all fronts.
If you read the first, you can understand the humor! If you have not read the first, your missing out if you try to read this. Must be read in order to understand the FM MC. Then, you can also understand the humor. Not one to spoil things but if you like the options and why choose, this is a funny series!
I really enjoyed the story. It has humor and drama with a bit of mystery. There are times when it has some sexy scenes and times of sadness. You can feel their happiness and their pain. It is a stunning story that is beautifully written. It draws you in and doesn’t let go. It ends in a big cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
This series just keeps getting better. Marcus is my new favourite 😍 I love him so much. He has come out of his shell now and is a sweetheart. I love all the relationships forming with Ally and the others. I am so happy with what happened to Derek, but he needed more done to him. The ending, though, I wasn't expecting that. Can't wait to continue.
This book had slightly more plot driven parts than the first book which was great. The writing is still irking me, but at least there were less grammatical errors in this one. I’m enjoying the characters, I like getting to know more about them and getting to see their relationships grow with one another. I’m excited for the next book.
The story continues and gets even more 🔥! The level of spice rises a few degrees and teases at even more in the future book! You get to see bonds strengthen in many ways and you get an answer you’ve wanted to know at the very end! I do want to listen to the next book now! You also get some more 😂 out of that mischief magic! Such a comedic element in this story to help balance out your emotions!!
Our Corviticus crew is back and things are picking up. Alison is getting closer to the guys while also learning more about her past & family. This book picked up the steam and it blended into the story well. we get a big reveal, but we're left with a cliffhanger. #TheFlockVIPReviewTeam I look forward to book 3 and more amazing work by our author and narrator.
