Little did Alexandrite know that when the little brass shop bell rang, and four insanely seductive men walked into her mother's shop to have their fortunes read, that her and the strangers’ fates would become entangled.
The crystal can show the future, but not the path that must be taken to achieve it. With many twists and turns, can Alexandrite make them believe in fate?
This book is not my cup of tea. I tried to read 50% of the book but ended up at 41% and a dnf. What put me off? It is pretty clear from Alex’s first reading that she will have sex with all guys, which is fine, I like rh. But up to 41% she is more into this scene, turned on when she sees the four guys but the story is not really moving on. It feels like a medium burn rh with a extremely slow story, which did not keep my attention. I felt tortured by the pacing so I decided to dnf the book.
I really liked the cover and the ratings of the book were quite good, but only 116 people rated it.
Narrated by: Christine Bermudez Length: 5 hrs and 27 mins Unabridged Audiobook
The narrator that Blak chose for this book was perfect. Bermudez really brought to life this book to life and get a 360 perspective of this world that has Blak created. Within the Crystal is the first in a new series that is gypsy inspired and takes the best of that world and combines it with other elements. Alexandrite has been minding her own business and doing life as best she can. Until four guys walk into the shop from the local university and turn her life upside down. No more taking it easy and hiding in the shadows as a seer. She is about to get awakened in more then one way. Jasper, Tek, Cal and Nunu the four guys are about to turned her life upside down completely and reveal hidden truths about this world.
Discovieries that may changed the course of the history and Alex isn't sure what to do. Alex is one of my favourite discoveries this year. She is young and still finding her way but she has a gift that delves into a world that is still reality untapped in the world of RH. Alex may be a sloth spiritally but she isn't afraid to take charge when it counts and this book shows how crystal can be utilized. The drama and the romance with the guys was interesting . and it will be interesting to see how this plays out in the second book given that Alex made some head ways with her chosen path. Blak really explored the world of seers and more authentically with a creative license and I can't wait to learn more
Traveller, Seer and a New Age shop worker (shop is owned by her mum) - Alexandrite aka Alex reads crystals and Tarot cards to see the future. So when four men - Nunu (Nuummite), Jasp (Jasper), Cal (Calcite) and Tek (Tektite) turn up to the shop looking for their Tarot cards to be read. That brings a whole host of complications and some steamy scenarios. Except that their futures are tied together somehow. Its a fantastic read and i really enjoyed reading it. I loved Alex's character. Shes smart, witty, opinionated and a little bit nerdy. The perfect opposite to the guys. Frustrated with Cal and his attitude. Hoping that changes in future books. Dying for the next one after that cliffhanger ending. Cant wait for it
This book captured me from the beginning and was hard to put down! I loved the story and getting to know the characters. Book 2 can not come soon enough!
This book is a fantastic starting point to a new series. Kat Blak really does deliver a fantastic story and even greater characters! Alexandrite aka Alexis our FMC and she works in her mom's New Age shop. She lets on early on in the book that she is a descendent of the Romany gypsies and she has natural powers that came down from her mother's side. Both her mother and she are seers and while she takes care of the shop her mother is a professor of astrology at the local college. One day she sits down to read crystals for four of her mother's students (they have an assignment to complete) and everything changes from that one moment.
Nunu (Nuummite), Jasp (Jasper), Cal (Calcite), and Tek (Tektite) are the men in her life that seem to bring all sorts of feelings to her. They have their own individual personalities and you very quickly find out where they sort of stand in the group. Alex is such a hilarious character. She's not super smooth and cool like other MCs we've read- she has flaws, geeks out from time to time, isn't graceful at all, and has the funniest mouth vomit at the most random times. This whole book sets up the harem, well it starts out here, and sets up the journey that they have to partake in.
I don't want to say anything more as It'll give too much away. But know that there is great detail and description in this book. You really do like the main character and root for her. I can't wait to read more from this series and I would recommend this book to all fans of Rh dealing with fated mates, saving the world, and other psychic powers/abilities.
Another amazing story by kat blak as soon as you start reading the book you are pulled into the exciting world of Alexandrite who is a seer. She works in her mums shop why her mum teacher at the local university, when her mum send over four students to have there fortune told as part off an assignment for there course and they just happen to be four very hot guys that are also named after different crystals. When Alex starts there reading everything changes and her life and the guys life are about to be changed for ever.
I really enjoyed reading this book and could not but it down I love Alexandrite character she loves her life and loves working in the shop as is a chilled person until The guys enter her world. I love all the guys but I think it’s going to be hard for her to get Cal on board with what she need to do and to lead them down the right path for the fates of the world.
The cliffhanger at the end wow I can’t wait for the second book to find out what fate has in store for them all next.
I was so intrigued with the fortune telling aspect of this book. So the first chapter sucked me in and I was hooked until the cliffhanger at the end.
Alex is a gypsy and considered a “seer.” I love that she embraces the stereotype, from her clothes to her accessories. Everything is normal until four guys walk into her family’s store and ask for a reading. Little does she know her life will irrevocably change and be forever intertwined with them.
Overall, I enjoyed the start to this series and I can’t wait to see where the story takes Alex and her guys.
I don't know what to say... This book blew me away. I laughed my ass of with Alex and I fell in love with the boys. Just to think this first book is only the tip of the iceberg... I can't wait to read the rest! Genuinely one of my favorite books so far, thank you for giving us such a fun and beautiful read 💗
What a fantastic first book! A well written RH read that draws you in with its astrology, fortune telling and magic. Alex our mc is strong and I loved seeing her grow and her relationships develop with her four hot guys. It’s an intense journey, emotional and exciting and after that ending well I really would like book two please!!
This book was so good . Alex is one awesome chick. Her powers are so cool . Andrew seems like Psycho creeper that’s going after young chicks. I’m just saying he’s a weirdo and had a good one. Cal Cal Cal what did you do ???? Your crazy Barbie is gonna get a dose of karma.
This is an amazing read that took me away from my everyday reality to a whole new world. It moved along at a great pace, has amazing characters that will grab you and not let you go until you finish the last page. This is a must read, no doubt about it.
Awesome start and I cannot wait until book 2. I loved meeting all the new characters and I also believe the sloth is my spirit animal. That ending I cannot wait to see what happens next.
This is a very strong start to this series. The premise is unique and intriguing. I loved the details in the writing and the mystics. This is a page turner, where the plotline is only being uncovered. This is only the beginning and I can't wait to read book 2.
I really loved this book! I loved the storyline and all the characters! This book captured my attention and refused to let go. Alexandrite is a fantastic FMC. I love her quirkiness and fun loving personality. The guys are awesome and sexy! I would definitely recommend this book. I cannot wait for book two!
Loved this story. Another great one from Kat Blak. Love her stories. Couple parts made me laugh out loud. Story kept my attention from start to finish. Love the characters and the storyline. Definitely a must read. You will absolutely love Alex. Some of the things she says will make you laugh. So cannot wait for book 2.
They all have the stupidest names. She sleeps in a vest. She sees the visions and then....nothing. There is no quest. There is no mission. They don't go anywhere, they don't do anything. What the hell was the point of any of this? The sex scenes are lame and forced, as in they do not flow coherently. There is no chemistry between any of these people. The real plot to this book- girl becomes Mom's teaching assistant for no discernible reason and proceeds to bang several of the students in the class. The end.
I wasn't too sure if I would enjoy this book as I've never really understand tarot cards, crystals, astrology and reading futures so I was a little sceptic. However, I feel like I've had an education along with an amazing story. Alex is a great character, doing her own thing her own way and doesn't care what others think. Until four guys and mother nature step in. The guys are all different which is always a great thing (something for everyone). Very enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to the next book to see how Alex gets to know the boys more and work out what they need to do next.
Kat Blak is a new author to me, Within the Crystal, is the first book in The Crystal Collection that centers on Alex as she guides others onto paths so that they may become who they are supposed to be.
Alexandrite "Alex" is a gypsy in truth, she embodies the look wholeheartedly with her pink dreads and flowing clothes but that's because she is a Seer, a chip right off the old block (it runs in the family). Alex has visions of the future she connects with energy and the world on a spiritual level but is by no means a hippy. Alex is super-smart, a little geeky, and has snark for days. She's a cool person but lacks confidence because she didn't form that many personal connections due to the fact that she and her mother moved around a lot. However, Alex is very comfortable in her little life, reading tarot cards, having visions, and working in her mother's mystical (think witchy) shop.
A higher entity gives Alex a task that involves four guys from her mother's class (mom is a professor at a private college), they have a close bond with each other and there is some obvious connection between them and Alex. Nuummite "Nunu" is geeky hot who loves learning, Tektite "Tek" is a smart-alec who lives for snark, Jasper "Jasp" is a bit of a mystery and a foodie while Calcite "Cal" has a chip on his shoulder and darkness. The guys seem okay but I didn't really connect with them, they didn't leave the page. I need more scenes with them, more reactions to things so I actually feel them.
The story was okay, I had a few issues. The story didn't flow right, things felt forced and not in the right order. Also, some of the characters' reactions didn't seem to fit correctly in the moment or for the time. Not to mention that what Alex was supposed to do and things about the guys were very unclear in a confusing way for most of the book. That being said I feel that the story has potential and I'm interested in seeing where the story goes next.
Within the Crystal is unique with its mystical energy, crystals that hold power, entities that gives mysterious orders, and an interesting magical history. Alex is a strong female character who is comfortable with who she is and has something she's passionate about. Alex's story continues in the next book Reading the Runes which is good because that ending left a lot unanswered.
Within the Crystal by Kat Blak is the first book in her Crystal Collection series. This is a unique paranormal romance reverse harem novel. Alexandrite is a young gypsy woman who starts her day out thinking it will be just another normal day only for fate to show her everything is going to change. Within the Crystal is written by one of my favorite authors, so I was excited to pick it up and see where the author was going to take me. Alexandrite aka Alex is an interesting character. She embraces her gypsy heritage and showcases it which I love. I love her connection to the mythical/mysterious and I absolutely love her relationship with her mom. The author gives me little insights here and there into their history/past and as to why Alex has never really been in a relationhip. It’s a bit sad to know that due to their constant moving around she’s never been able to have a real friend or even a true relationship. It piques my curiosity as to whether this time will be different for her. While this book has some good moments, it never fully intrigues me enough to make this a page-turner in my opinion. For me, the story actually comes off as a bit disjointed like it’s still trying to piece itself together. For me, instead of being a smooth tapestry weaving together, there are spots where there are holes and places where threads have been pulled, but not corrected. I really needed more development. I understand that “fate” is being played heavily on in this book, but it’s a bit too heavy. It causes the storyline’s development to be skipped over in a rush to get Alex and the guys to come together to what she has seen when she first looked into the crystal ball. Alex has seen them together and now it’s like they are being thrown together in an effort to make the scene of “all of them intertwined” to happen sooner than later. I really wanted to like this book, but it just doesn’t grab me like others. This book does end on a bit of a cliffhanger, but I’m not left really wanting to know what happens next with these characters. There are good elements and moments, but not enough to really make me want to continue this series. I’m choosing to rate this book a soft 4 out of 5 stars. This particular book/series is a miss for me, but I’m going to keep my eye out for more from this author in the future.
There aren’t too many RHs out there that revolve around the mystical side of fortune telling and astrology. Alex is considered a Seer so while she may seem witchy, it’s not the typical story involving witches since she can’t zap things with her finger tips or whisper spells to perform magic. Because of that, I really loved this book and the direction the author has taken.
The story was well written and flowed together. I was able to easily discern the different personalities of the men in her life but I am eager to learn more about their background and to see their relationships grow with Alex.
My one complaint is the obscurity of the plot. Since Alex is a seer, she doesn’t reveal the futures to the men since it’s such a life changing vision that she has. But then again, we are never given that information either even though it’s told from her POV. As the story progressed, we were able to get a better understanding of what the role of the 4 men will be in her life, but as a reader, it just seems as if Alex knew what to expect while we are stunned in surprise.
Overall, I enjoyed reading the start of Alex’s journey with her 4 men and I’m excited to read the next book in the series.
I absolutely loved this book! There was amazing story building and information on astrology, types of crystals and their properties, fortune telling, and an interesting take on the paranormal. Kat Blak did her homework. The concept about supernaturals being basically extinguished was pretty neat and I can't wait to see how they are introduced back into play. The Seers and the guys can't possibly be the only ones left. I can't wait to see how the relationships progress with the guys. Two seem to be going relatively well and prove that they are actually interested in getting to know Alex, but the other two are still up in the air. After the cliffhanger who knows what will happen! As a Seer constantly moving and on the run from whatever is after them, Alex is prone to running. Although she claims her spirit animal to be a sloth, she does an awful lot of running away when she thinks things aren't panning out or is afraid of the outcome. I know she needs and wants Cal to shape up and actually put some effort into getting to know her, but I feel that when he actually attempts to, she's going to get overwhelmed and not be able to put trust in his actions...and will probably run away again. Looking forward to finding out in the next book!
Another epic read from Kat Blak. Seriously loved this book. I loved everything about it. From their names each being after a crystal which was amazing plus- coincidence I think not- to the relationships that evolve. It made me laugh out loud especially “ The force is strong with this one” had me in hysterics. I just love that that Alexandrite is such a geeky self assured confident woman well I think she is! Alexandrite is our FMC who is a seer working at her mums shop, when her mum sends her students into their store for a reading. Enter the guys! Don’t want to give to much away so download and definitely Read the rest!!!!! And the relationships with purpose, meaning and reason with the guys keep you on the edge of your seat. Of course some are epic, some make you want to punch them in the face haha but it just adds the triumph and victory at least I hope so. That ending though I did not even see that coming I mean how, what whyyyyyyyy. I need book 2 like I need to breathe! Thank you for another great read! I can’t wait!
Holy smokes this was such an intense read and it took a twist that I did not expect! I absolutely love that the further you got into the book the more you got to see more of Alex's powers and what all it is she can do. She is quite the interesting character and the development between the four guys that come into her life are incredible. However there is plenty of mystery and Alex sees something about these four guys and she has a path she has to help guide them down. There is a lot of hot tension between these characters and the further you get into the book the more things start to unravel.
I am excited to see what is going to come next for the series because they ending we were left with filled me with shock and disbelief. I would highly recommend you pick up the first in this series because it was such an intense ride filled with so much emotion and mystery. I can't give too much away but it was such an amazing ride you don't want to miss it!!
I quite enjoyed this book, a first one in the Crystal Collection series. It was nice to have Alex as the FMC, she quite stands out with her looks, unusual name, Romani origins, fashion style, seer abilities, and knack for astrology. She is rather proficient in her area of expertise, and when she actually uses her brain she can be quite smart. Nevertheless, most of the time she is just thinking about sex and her lust for the four new guys in her life - students in her mother's class nonetheless, and she is the TA. The downside of her wayward thinking was actually slowing down the pace, and it bothered me a bit that any action resulting from the original vision came late in the book; there was more focus on the RH element of the story, the "relationship" development - or rather acting on attraction between them, I suppose the real relationship comes later. The individual boys are interesting and have a lot of potential, as has the story - I am curious what the next book will bring.
What a great start to a new series by Kat. I freaking loved this book. So we have Alex who is a gypsy. If you know anything about gypsies than you will love this book. I am very intrigued by the whole tarot, runes, and crystals so I was in it from the first chapter. Then you throw in astrology and I was a happy girl. Then for added measure, there is magic. So not only can Alex do this but she also gets visited by Mother Nature. Oh boy does this get interesting? Alex's mom also sends four guys to her shop to get a reading and now there is a path everyone must travel. Unfortunately, it will not be easy. Tek, Jasper, Nunu, and Cal meet her and she gets visions. What is that you ask? You need to read it to find out. You will love this book. I cannot wait for the next book in this series to come out due to that cliffhanger Kat left us with!
CAN'T WAIT for book two! What a great read!!!! ✨ 🔮
Yowza what a cliffhanger!!! I absolutely cannot wait for the follow up that's for certain! This is a great introduction to a wonderfully magical new series filled with interesting and mysterious new characters. The world building is fascinating, and I'm betting many more layers will be revealed in future books 😉. Gypsy Seers, The Fates, hot alpha males, Mother Nature aka Gaia, and creepy invisible stalkers all have huge roles within these pages.... At the heart of it all is one AMAZING female main character! She's filled with intellect, snarky comments, humour, heart, and so much power, and I'm betting she's going to truly become even MORE magnificent... If that's even possible. The mystery has begun....the clues have started to show themselves....I can't wait to see where this goes 💖✨.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
This is a great start to a new series by what is turning out to be one fantastic author. We meet Alexandrite aka Alex who reads crystals and Tarot cards to see the future in a family owned shop. Four men - Nunu (Nuummite), Jasp (Jasper), Cal (Calcite) and Tek (Tektite) turn up to the shop looking for their Tarot cards to be read. This wouldn't be anything outside the norm but when she does it very quickly becomes obvious that all of their fates are tied together. From there the story really gets good as something goes wrong which just starts the bumpy ride they are all in for. This creates a wonderfully surprising adventure as they get to know one another while also trying to get to know one another. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
