Sam and Indie are drawn back into another seemingly supernatural adventure when the widow of a recently executed serial killer comes across a list of the victims he had planned to kill but never got around to. When they start ending up dead in the same ways he was known for killing his victims, she asks them to help prove that it is the ghost of her dead husband committing the murders.
Beauregard and Grace jump in to help. But even the spooks soon find themselves terrified at what they uncover—and even more frightened when Sam and Indie are targeted by the killer, and only the ghosts can save them.

If you don't believe a serial killer can come back to life as a ghost to finish his work post execution, then read this book!
Because you'll become a believer. In what? Ghosts? Serial killers coming back to life? Ghosts who talk to the living? Yeah, there's an app for that! At least there is in Sam & Indie's world or David Archer's anyhow. Did I leave a spoiler? Nope. You'll figure it out. Sam Pritchard is a mostly retired private investigator, retired police officer, injured on the job, loosely associated with Homeland Security and he's bored to tears! Weather's too nice, no contact with anyone during the pandemic. He almost wishes for a case. Then the old civil war era spook, that's ghost to you who are unawares - hey book 13 remember? Can you read this stand alone? Yes Archer fills in what you need to know if you didn't. Beauregard, he's the ghost, remember? Tells him he's going to get a case today and he won't like it.... You will if you read Serial Superstition!
“Serial Superstition” by David Archer is another terrific addition to the ‘SAM & INDIE’ series. This book, like Book #12, incorporates Beauregard and Grace - the ghosts that interact with Sam & Indie.
This time around they are trying to uncover the perpetrator of series of murders that duplicate those committed by a recently-executed serial killer. The hunt for this new killer results in the adopted ghosts’ provide more assistance then previously described.
“Serial Superstition” is a highly entertaining read and showcases Mr. Archer’s “Serial Superstition” writing talents in his ‘creation’ of the world of the dead.
I have read every Sam Pritchard/Sam and Indie novel, and this one is the very best. I was surprised, thrilled, and chilled until the last page. You can read any book by Mr. Archer and be delighted, but few books in a long series like this can enchant a reader like "Serial Superstition" does with such skill. It may make you wonder about life, death, the afterlife, the nature of evil, and the strength of love and family. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to read it. If you are like me, you won't be able to take a break until you've finished the story.
Sam is bored and disillusioned, no cases due to the pandemic. He's offered a case by a woman whose husband was just executed for being a serial killer but he's either come back from the dead or his ghost is somehow continuing his kill list. The ghost hunters are footing the bill so he decides to take it. Between Sam's crowd and law enforcement they discover what's going on and put a stop to it but not before the death of several others including one of the ghost hunters. Great story.
Once again, Sam and Indie...along with Beauregard, Sylvia, Magno!ia and Mike...take us on another adventure filled with unexpected twists and turns. The story keeps the reader riveted and turning pages as quickly as they can be read. Waiting for Book 14!
An engaging introduction to this series (though not a new one, by any means, of course) which shows off its 'standalone' credentials well. The series title characters' back story is casually dropped in when needed and the necessary supernatural elements are well thought out and contribute to the plot while not being too implausible.
Sam, a former police officer is a private investigator, assisted by Indie - his wife - who 'hears dead people'. This is a useful skill - and she also seems to be a tech wizard and has created a bluetooth device that allows Sam to hear them, too; she has good programming skills and has devised an AI useful in research... Here they are recruited by a tv ghost-hunting team to track down a serial murderer executed some months ago - but who seems to be continuing his activities...
Excellent as always. Sam and Indie find themselves in a tight spot, again. As usual, you must hang in until the end to come out of the twists and turns. I did miss the lack of interaction with Kenzie, Bo and Sampson. Kim was also conspicuous by her absence. Having read every book in the series. It's almost like visiting family and some of them aren't home.

Having read all of David Archers books, always felt the Sam & Indie series a little far fetched with the ghost interactions. But Archer has hit a home run with this one. Not only is the plot and story line outstanding, but the interaction with the ghosts in this novel is smooth and believable. An enjoyable read!!!!
Man, I thought the other books in the Sam and Indie was the best, but this topped all of them. The suspense of it kept me not wanting to put it down and go to bed. I had to force myself to go to bed after staying up way too late. It didn't seem as long as the others but the ending was right on time.
When I first saw that this book was going to be all about ghosts, I was having second thoughts about reading it. However, I've liked everything David has written so I decided to give it a go. He made it believable and enjoyable. Thanks again for a fun read.
That was a great story. The way you interwoven the Spook group and Sam again. Wilcox definitely was a sick soul . The way he established his list was really like playing judge and jury. Was especially smart the way he survived the execution. But luckily Sam had his ghostly help. Excellent franchise !!!!! 10 stars plus !! Thanks, Carl Clause
This book was a good mystery. You were not really sure what was causing the new killings to continue, was he really dead with a copycat or did he come how love through the execution. I thought the true killer was someone else so was surprised at the end. It heals my attention to the end.
Sam and Indie are joined with their friendly ghosts in finding out why the murders continued happening after the serial killer was executed.Or will this be the last of the series?
This is another great book in the series. You should read this series in order so that you understand where these characters started. There are twists and turns that keep you reading and it will draw you in until the great conclusion. I highly recommend all of this authors books.
Oh...My....Gosh!!! I think this was by far the best of the the 4 Sam & Indie book series...I was as baffled as they were as to how the killings were taking place...or should I say who was doing the killings...
I enjoyed this series of books. You have the mystery and humor which is rarely found in one book.about murder, supernatural and suspense. I would recommend all of books. Well done Mr Archer!!!Thank you.
It was almost like reading science fiction it was just TOO unbelievable. It lacked the logic and cleverness of Sam's reasoning coupled with Indie's special contribution. Feel cheated but not put off reading More of their investigations !
The characters were familiar because I have been reading this series from the fist book. I had a little problem with the story for a while and is why I didn’t finish it in the usual time.
I've written ratings for all of his books, but this one beats them all. I read it in one day, couldn't put it down.it has everything a Dave Archer novel includes, but is more intense.
What an absolute pleasure it has been reading this series of books. I am not into ghost stories normally, but would highly recommend these books and other wotks by David Archer as must reads.
This was the last book in a series about Sam and Indie Prichard. Good closure with the details tying up nicely. I enjoyed this series as well as the other two by David Archer.
Even if you don’t this is still one great story. It just might cause you to reconsider your viewpoint about the afterlife. Give it a try, you just might enjoy the characters and the tale.
This instalment on Sam and Indie and their etherial investigative partners solve the mystery but I found that the ending, quickly pushed the boundaries to a less than plausible ending. Easy and entertaining read.
I love this series. It has amazing characters and plots. The use of ghosts adds a great dimension. I am always sorry when the book ends. Please keep writing them!
