Still Confessing: An Exposition of The Baptist Faith and Message 2000

Rate this book
The Baptist Faith and Message (BFM) has served as the most recognized statement of faith for Southern Baptists since 1925. The latest revision in 2000 serves as the doctrinal standard that identifies the general faith and practice of Southern Baptist churches. In this volume Daniel Scheiderer gives a helpful, positive commentary on the BFM by examining each article and giving a brief exposition of the supporting biblical texts. The result is a valuable tool that is suitable not only for personal reading but also for use in Sunday Schools or small group studies. — Dr. Tom AscolAuthor, President of Founders Ministries & Senior Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Cape Coral, FL

A helpful exposition of the BFM2000. Especially helpful in some of the areas where the wording was sometimes unhelpful within the confession itself. Good for considering the BFM as a viable confession in church life.

From a Reformed Baptist perspective. Good for explaining some things, but not as helpful in others. The chapter on the Lord’s Day is an example. Was looking for an explanation of exactly what the BFM teaches about the Lord’s Day, not where his 1689 beliefs disagreed with the BFM statement.

This is a very good overview of the BFM 2000 with a look at important texts over each doctrine.

Great book that walks through the contents of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 from a Reformed Baptist perspective, gently showing that the BF&M is not at odds with the 1689 London Baptist Confession. If you are a Reformed Baptist within a Southern Baptist congregation, this is a wonderful resource to read through and to have on hand.
