A bite-size guide to incorporating mindfulness into your life—now!
Our minds never stop moving. We shuffle through the past, present, and future while our attention flits from thought to thought. Mindfulness is a way to slow down our ricocheting brains and gain clarity. It is simply the practice of being in the present moment, of focusing your thoughts and attention on what is in front of you. It’s a way to be more fully engaged in your life, make more thoughtful choices, and enjoy your day.
Mindfulness Now by Jesse Sands is filled with simple ways to practice mindfulness and meditation in your everyday life. The book is designed to make mindfulness practical for the modern day and accessible to everyone, no matter how busy your schedule may be. By bringing your focus to the present moment, you will learn to step away from worry and make the most of every day.
Oxford Learner’s Dictionary describes mindfulness as a mental state achieved by concentrating on the present moment while calmly accepting the feelings and thoughts that come to you, used as a technique to help you relax.. Jesse Sands gives us 60 different ways to practice mindfulness. She tells us how to use modern technology effectively to practice mindfulness, like using mediation apps and white noise for guided meditation. She also delineates how our friends can help us meditate using skype and how to use online meditation classes by licensed meditation teachers. This small, simple book will definitely help you if you are new to mindfulness and meditation.
“When we want to focus on something, anything, and other topics come to our mind, we write it down and return to it later. This one simple tool is a mindfulness gem that can help you stay focused.”

I feel like I got caught in a time loop. Because all this book does is repeats itself. It is all about the monkey mind, breathing, walking, and the Buddhist mindset. I couldn't get on board with this one. Simple, yes. Boring? Absolutely. The strategies and way things are worded only made me laugh at how absurd it is. It is always good to be present. But this is just obsessive.
Eh. While there are some good tips, this short read mainly felt like a compilation of regurgitated "Meditation for Beginners!" lists culled from the internet. If you're completely new to the topic this book may be helpful, but any previous exposure will just leave this book reaffirming things you already knew.
Thank you to Edelweiss for a review copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This short book gives the reader practical ways to be in the moment and mindful of their life and experiences. I enjoyed the examples and self-insight that prepares the reader to be more aware of their life and decisions. It's not life-changing, but a great guide to follow.
