The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was mostly clean, with occasional typos. This novel was written in present tense, which is not something I like, typically. The world building of London was vibrant, which I enjoyed as an American who has never been to the UK. The characterization was well done, with both the hero and heroine being sympathetic individuals with strengths and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relationship was sweet and hot, and I really appreciated that the characters established the mate bond and got engaged at the end. The heat level was four chili peppers. The plot and pacing were tight and interesting, meaning that I read this novel in one sitting. That is especially impressive considering that most contemporary romance leaves me bored, with my reading preferences tending more toward sci-fi and fantasy romance or romantic suspense novels. There was a medium amount of angst and medium stakes in this novel, which is typically not one of my preferred narrative structures. I thoroughly enjoyed it in this novel. This novel used the hero seeing the heroine and ardently pursuing her trope, which I typically enjoy quite a bit. Also the Neither of Us Wants a Relationship trope, where they fall in love despite themselves. The world building, plot, and pacing were four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also four stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of four stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I look forward to reading the next book this author releases. I will not buy myself a keeper copy of this book because it was written in present tense.
