Firefighter Sebastian Kane knew that Maggie was the one the first time he saw her. Unfortunately, so did a killer…

While attempting a DIY renovation of her late aunt's boarding house, Maggie stumbles across a serial killer’s trophy stash. Telling people what she found doesn’t help, no one believes her.

As word gets around the small town of Redemption, Maggie finds she’s got a target on her back.

Sebastion believes Maggie's story, but he's not her boyfriend. Brave enough to run into a fire at a moment's notice, he still hasn't found quite the right time to tell her how he feels. But he's going to have to act fast, because the Blue River Killer is hot on Maggie's heels, and she's determined not to let him take anyone else.

Sebastian will have to betray everything he holds dear to keep Maggie safe… and make her his.

This is a Romantic Suspense/mystery, and this is the first book in the Wildfire Hearts series. I have to say that this book started off weird, and I did not think I would love it. I found myself getting pulled into the story by the end of the first couple of characters. I loved the suspense/mystery parts of this book. The mystery of this book was really good, and I did not see all the twists and turns in this book. The romance in this book was not bad, but the best part of this book was the build up suspense and the mystery solving. I really could not get enough of this book. The characters where so great, and I really loved getting to know the characters in this book. I cannot wait to read the second book in the series. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Griffyn Ink) or author (Savannah Kade) via Booksirens, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Yeah, I couldn’t finish this one whoopssss … My issue with the writing style is that although it’s the first in a series, I needed more exposition. The writing came across as if I should’ve already known who everyone was. (And this is coming from someone who hates exposition).

And this was honestly boring?

I don’t know. I felt like I had a different book than everyone else who reviewed this one. Take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

Crash And Burn is a romantic suspense and book one of the Wildfire Hearts series.

The story is set in Nebraska and features lawyer Maggie who recently inherited her Aunt’s old rambling guesthouse. While she settles into small town life and begins to build up her new clientele, Maggie volunteers at the local fire station.

Firefighter Sebastian at first admires Maggie from afar, but it’s not long before she needs some help. Maggie uncovered hidden jewellery in her Aunt’s house which appears to be linked to a serial killer. On top of that, an intruder is on the prowl.

This is a quick story to read and focuses on the suspense elements of the story more than the romance. Throughout the story other members of the firefighter squad make appearances and I felt it was a good way to introduce them, especially if they are to have their own stories within the series.

Crash & Burn is the first book in the Wildfire Hearts series written by Savannah Kade, this was a new author for me and I enjoyed the book. Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres to read, and this one certainly didn't disappoint. The book was well written, action packed and kept me turning the pages until the very end. I received a free advanced reader copy of this book through Book Sirens. The views and opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own and given voluntarily.

Ok this book was literally making my head spin… I could not keep up with whatever the hell was attempting to be portrayed. One second they’re searching for the killer, the next they’re taking about how smokin hot each others bodies are.. the dialogue made little sense.. things that deserved scenes, didn’t get them and just skipped right on over it. Would not recommend lol.. but it was free so gotta take the bad with the good lol.

Sorry, DNF'd it.

Awkward dialogue, no real flow to the story. I tried several times to push through, but couldn't

I cannot tell you how excited I am to get this book out into the world! It's a new series and a there will be four books in the series within just a few months. But first...

You need sexy firefighters, steamy romance, and sizzling suspense!

“Maggie, I don’t mind.” He almost added, that's what friends are for, but he didn't want to give her the idea that friends was all he was interested in. Instead he said, “This is a big deal. It’s definitely concerning. Don't ever think that you're overreacting. But we’ve got this.”
Then she shocked the shit out of him and threw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly. It was so easy to hug her back. He felt her pressed against him, her arms wrapped around his waist.
With one hand, he tugged her closer, while the other snuck up into her hair. He would have kissed her, but this wasn't the time.
It didn't matter anyway, because just then the doorbell rang.

Meet Sebastian Kane... Firefighter, confident in an emergency, and maybe a little to slow to ask Maggie out. But even his loyalty to his fellow firefighters won't stop him when Maggie decides to defend her late aunt's memory and stop the killer who's stalking her. He can't have Maggie if he can't save her...

A fabulous, suspenseful, action packed read that was completely gripping. Maggie was strong and brave whilst Sebastian was sweet and supportive. The plot was terrific with two serial killers on the loose. Looking forward to reading book 2.

I quite enjoyed this book once I got into it. I like a good thriller, and this was a well written and paced one once it got going.
Maggie, the star of the story, inherits what was once a boarding house and all the secrets it contains. Uncovering a box of jewellery starts a domino effect of break ins & more secret discoveries all leading to discovering the identity of a serial rapist (and his mate the serial killer). Maggie bravely puts herself in harm’s way to attempt to bring about his capture.
While all this is happening a slow burn romance with Sebastian is developing. You will love him as a character, shy and tentative with his feelings towards Maggie, he’s the perfect partner for her and the author builds a great cast of supporting characters who I’m sure will be fleshed out in future books.
The only downside for me was the totally pointless relationship with Rex and babysitting his daughter in the start of the book. It seemed to be an unnecessary subplot and slowed down the start of the book and Rex was quickly relegated to a non-supporting character so I really didn’t see the purpose of having a focus on him to begin with.
That aside, I enjoyed the book and have already moved on to Book 2 to continue with the story.

RECEIVED THIS FREE ARC FOR AN HONEST REVIEW! Ok. So as a murder mystery, I loved this. As a romance, not so much. The focus was solely on the mystery of the house and everything going on in town. There wasn't much focus on the romance side of the story. What little we got was a very slow burn getting to and remained less than lukewarm. That didn't even matter because I was so involved in the mystery. I enjoyed that very much. One thing I had an issue with was concerning the relationship with her first boyfriend, there was a mention of a possible breakup but it was never discussed… It was like a fade to black situation and then poof, she's single. I didn't like that. I felt like Maggie needed a confrontation written into the story. Other than that, good book.

The thriller portion of this book was really good and I found myself anticipating for the next turn and even jumping up a little once when my partner made a sudden noise beside me at an exciting part of the book.

The romance though left me wanting a little. There wasn’t too much emotions between our couple and even though they had a lovely HFN, I would’ve wanted to explore their growing feelings more. And the beginning she was dating someone else (his colleague/brother in arms) but he suddenly dropped out and there wasn’t even a shred of talk about the MMC talking to the ex. Weird.

I’m not sure if I’ll continue this series but if I do, it’s purely to find out what happens with the thriller side of things.

This was the first book from Savannah Kade that I've read, but it certainly won't be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed Sebastian and Maggie's story! I read this book in only a couple of sittings, because I was caught up enough in it to not want to put it down.
Crash and Burn has it all. There is a hunky fire firefighter for a leading man, who is as attractive inside as he is out. We have a strong female lead who knows how to accept help when she needs it, but can also take care of herself. And running right through the story is a mystery with enough atmosphere and suspense to suck you right in.
Maddie and Sebastian start off as friends and co-workers, but become closer when Sebastian steps in to help her. When we first meet Maggie she is dating one of Sebastian's fellow firefighters, so circumstance sets them on the path to becoming friends. But the attraction between them is there all along.
Maggie realises fairly early on that the man she's with isn't right for her. But then things start to go haywire for her and she needs help. Being the great guy that he is, Sebastian steps in quickly to support and assist her (it doesn't hurt his motivation that he's quite infatuated with her). And a happy by-product of him helping her is that they spend a lot of time together. By about mid-way through the book the time spent alone together has done its job and their romance is off and running.
And about that point is where the background mystery really comes to the forefront. While I wouldn't say that I didn't see at least some of what was coming in relation to the serial killer story line, it was still well done and I didn't really care that it wasn't all a grand surprise. That's not to say that I guessed everything that was coming though, because I definitely didn't.
While the violence isn't excessive in its actual descriptions, I've given this book 4 hatchets due to there being plenty of discussion of violent topics. My rating isn't so much for actual events, as it is for references to topics and situations.
I really enjoyed the romantic side of Crash and Burn. And for those of you who prefer a more subtle approach to the spice side of a story, this is perfect for you. And as an added bonus, this is only book 1 in the series! So, we get to do this all over again with book #2 Catching Fire and #3 Flash Point.
Thank you to Savannah Kade and BookSirens for my copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Es passiert irgendwie nichts, gleichzeitig aber auch alles?
Die grundlegende Idee fand ich ansprechend. I mean a hot firefighter with a suspense plot? Count me in.

Dumb.
Let me get this straight. The FMC, Maggie, moves to small town after dumping her cheating fiancé a week before her wedding. She inherits a house for her great aunt sabbie. She moves to the small town and starts dating the first person to ask her out, to help her make friends. She doesn't necessarily like him, but hey, he asked right, and a girl can't be alone too long.

She finds a box of random jewlery under the floorboards. Instead of turning said jewlery into the police she holds into it and shows a station full of firefighters who brush it off. Except puppy dog Seb, who is in love with her, but she is dating his friend. Then, she continues to hold onto it until someone breaks in twice looking for it. After turning it over to the police she calls and wants it back because they won't let her know whats going on after 1 WEEK. BITCH WHAT?!?! YOUR A FUKCING LAWYER you cannot be that dumb.
MOVING ON....
After being awake for 36 hours, scared to death, the FBI pops in saying hey it 2 psychos not 1 who murder and rape women, we need to search your house.
FMC response was NOooooo come back with a warrant. Are you fucking shitting me right now?!
If the author wanted her nosing in the case make her character a fucking cop or p.i, or even MMC a cop. Instead, she sends the FBI away so she can search for clues and ruin the whole investigation.

I cant with the bullshit.

Maggie Willis had inherited a large old house from her great aunt Abbie, she wanted to use it to set up her lawyer practice in the small town where it was situated she was also working as a volunteer at the local fire department.

Maggie's life was to change drastically when she came across a box of jewellery under a loose floorboard, could it have been left there by one of her aunts lodgers ? something didn't add up so , along with her colleagues at the fire department, the local police were called.

This story unfolds to reveal a large old house with many secrets, how many of it's secrets would it reveal ? a serial killer and a rapist who the police and FBI had been hunting for decades, who is the killer ? who is the rapist,? Is there a connection ? could aunt Abbie be involved?.

Firefighter Sebastian Kane was going to protect Maggie even though she had initially been dating his friend and colleague, Rex, although Maggie had been little more than a baby sitter to Rex's daughter Hannah.

This is an action packed story full of suspense, the tension is almost palpable and of course there is the blossoming love affair between Maggie and Sebastian.

This is the first story that I have read by Savannah Kade but I am very much looking forward to the next one.

I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.

Sebastian and Maggie!

This is a good romantic suspense. Sebastian is a fireman who works in the fairly small town of Redemption. Maggie is a lawyer who moved to Redemption after inheriting a boarding house from her great aunt.

Maggie moved from Los Angeles after catching her fiance and best friend in bed together a week before her wedding. As she tries to establish her practice while rehabbing the boarding house, strange things began to happen. She had been dating Rex , another fireman, when his baby was dumped in him. Maggie helps by babysitting but feels hees taking advantage of her. She realizes that she doesn't have romantic feelings for him and breaks up with him.

Sebastian regretted not asking Maggie out before Rex. He begins to help her as strange things keep happening in the boarding house. There's a serial rapist and serial killer in the loose and have been for years. Both are tied to the house. They finally discover that Maggie is in danger because of what she discovers in the house that someone wants.

Sebastian and Maggie develop feelings for each other as he helps her rehabbing the house and acting as her bodyguard as they discover the relationship between the killer, the racist and the house.

This is a fairly entertaining romantic suspense even though some things are unbelievable.

Maggie Willis inherits a boarding house from her great aunt. She needed a change of scenery after finding her fiance and best friend in bed together, right before the wedding. Maggie is renovating the house and trying to drum up clients for her law office. Maggie also volunteers for her local fire department. While cleaning one of the rooms, she finds a box of jewelry and shows it to her fellow firefighters. It is mentioned that it looks like “trophies “. She takes it to the local police station and gives it to them. Later it is discovered that prints belong to a serial rapist and a serial killer. Sebastian Kane is a firefighter and has his eye on Maggie but she was dating one of his friends. When someone breaks in, Sebastian helps fix some of the floor boards. Sebastian finally asks her out after she breaks up with her boyfriend. He stays with her when she hears someone downstairs. Maggie is tired of waiting for the authorities to catch the perps and sets herself up for bait. She’s taken and Sebastian will do whatever it takes to get her back.

First time reading this author and I will be checking out her other books. Action. Sex. Suspense. Friends to lovers. I couldn’t put this book down. Excellent storyline. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

Hot & Steamy, yet thrilling

What an interesting romance story in Crash & Burn by Savannah Kade. As you may tell from the title, this is a romance story with firemen, and Kade is a very good writer that adds uniqueness to the story. It's not just a boy meets girl, loses girl, gets girl back. It is way different than that. Maggie is a great character, and even though in the beginning, Sebastian loses his chance to go out with her, he is still in her life. Now, Maggie, has a lot of baggage, and plenty of secrets, that can lead danger right to her doorstep. This author brings the story to life. The characters had a lot of depth and were very real. I read a lot of stories, and I love the different writing styles and storytelling abilities. This author had a unique writing style, and it's not just fluff and romance, it's drama and intrigue as well. Kade indeed can tell stories. This author has a great imagination. The characters are so engrossing. I have fast become a big fan of Kade. Crash & Burn is a definite recommendation by Amy's Bookshelf Reviews. I look forward to reading many more titles by this author.

~3.5 stars~

I love a good mystery, and this story definitely had some great suspenseful elements. I liked the cat and mouse feel of the book, and Maggie was a great heroine—strong, determined, and courageous. While that bravery occasionally got her into some unnecessary trouble, it was still admirable. But Sebastian was really the star of the show for me. I adored his shyness and how enamored he was with Maggie. While I respected his loyalty to Rex, I liked that Sebastian knew he wanted Maggie from the very beginning.

I do wish there was a bit more excitement to the book. There were so many filler pages that sometimes the suspenseful moments got lost in all of the fluff. And though I understand the book is fiction, there were a few moments that were so unbelievable that I was jolted out of the storyline. I expected the plot to be a bit scarier and more intense, so I was disappointed.

Nonetheless, this was a good romantic mystery, and I recommend it to anyone looking for some slower-paced suspense.

*I received an ARC of this novel. This is my complete and honest review.*

When her aunt dies and leaves Maggie her boarding house, she decides to accept it as a fresh start. But the old house needs a lot of remodeling and while trying to fix the floor, Maggie finds an old jewelry box under a loose floorboard. Come to find out the contents are evidence in an ongoing serial killer case the FBI is handling. As the case heats up, she keeps hearing a prowler bragging into her home.
Sebastion is a firefighter at the station Maggie volunteers in. He was attracted to her the first time he saw her but lost his chance when Rex, a fellow fireman started dating her. Now they've broken up but Sebastion can't move in on his friends' ex. But, determined to protect her, he hides his feelings and moves in to the boarding house until the prowler is caught. But with such close contact, how do they keep the sparks from igniting?
Love, love, love this series! I'm starting the second one right now!

Crash and Burn by Savannah Kade was a Solid Story, Without Being Over The Top!

I went back and forth with myself, as to whether I was going to read this story, and I am pleased to say, that I made the right decision.

The story was realistic, in some aspects, and unrealistic in others, but overall, it was entertaining, without being excessively vicious, or gory with the serial criminal aspect, not taking over the plot.

Maggie (Magdalyn) Willis, the h, was a strong, intelligent, female character, and Sebastian Kane, the H, was a trained arson investigator for the Redemption Fire Department.

Their relationship was sweet, and I thought that they worked well together, in my opinion.

I adored Sebastian's shyness, as well as the other characters that were introduced throughout the story.

In short, the story was a pleasant surprise!

Don't read if you're looking for a romance. It was another freebie on "Stuff your Kindle Day" and I ended up skim reading most of it.
Two dimensional and couldn't make up its mind what it wanted to be. She is already dating one of the other members of the Fire team when the book starts, then suddenly they're broken up. No conflict, no working through emotions, would have worked better just to make her single in the first place. The spice is one chilli at best, it takes ages to get there and honestly, it feels like the characters have luke warm feelings for each other.
I've seen other reviews saying for a romance its low stars, but that they give it a higher mark as its makes a good and thrilling murder mystery/thriller. If you read a lot of that genre, you will be disappointed by this. It was not so horrible to make it to the one star, or the DNF shelf, but don't go in expecting anything great.

First in a new series written by Savannah Kade and it is not to be missed!
Sexy Firefighter, Check.
Suspense, Check
Brave female lead, Check
It has all of this plus that steamy romance that Kade’s known for. Maggie dreams of a small town life and a new beginning. She thinks she finally has that and a hot new beau. She attracts the attention of not one, but two firefighters as well as a serial killer.
Sebastian (handsome fireman) saw her first, but Rex beat him to the actual asking out, who’ll win her heart? Who’ll save her from the killer or will she save herself?
These questions and more will be answered only when you read this book for yourself.
I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

After being hurt by those she thought she could trust Maggie moved to town looking for a new beginning in the house that she inherited from her aunt. She is busy between trying to establish her law practice while also volunteering at the fire station, but it is the suspicious activities at her house that is causing her the most trouble.

Sebastian is a firefighter who was attracted to Maggie from her first meeting but has kept his distance because she is dating a fellow fighter. When he finds out that not only has she ended her relationship with him but that she is in danger he isn’t about to stand by and lose her a second time.

Intrigue, romance and surprises as Maggie and Sebastian not only solve a mystery but find love along the way.

This is the first book in the series and its great! It has Maggie moving to town to start over after a terrible betrayal. She goes to the firehouse and Sebastian a fireman sees her and is instantly smitten. He delays going to talk to her and she ends up being asked out by Rex another fireman. They have a code not to go after a woman that another is seeing but when danger ends up on her door he’s going to help her. Maggie got attention when she moved to town and it’s not the firemen but a serial killer that’s in the area. He leaves a gift at her aunts boarding house. Will Sebastian be able to keep her safe? From the very first page of Crash and Burn, I was completely hooked and drawn in. I feel like Rex was pretty useless here, but holy attraction I loved Sebastian and Maggie as characters and as love interests as a whole. The arson thing confused me because it didn't lead to anything or go anywhere at all but maybe throughout the series (which I definitely plan to continue) we will follow through with that plot line. I was pleased and felt like the thriller and suspense was done well and did enjoy the book and do plan to finish the series and look forward to seeing where the other books lead.
