Bad Guys. I couldn't explain the allure. Maybe, it was the way they walked. They stepped into a room, and everybody felt their presence. Hell, it could have been the way they knew how to handle my body. They knew which strings to pluck to make me come undone. Or, it could have been the way they whispered to me. They knew what to say and how to say it. Whatever it was, they had a hold on me.
It took me years of mental and physical abuse to realize that I needed to reform. I needed to realize that just because they were good to my body didn't mean they were good for my body. Fast forward a few years, I was a changed woman. I had sworn off bad men until my ex, Roshaun, pushed my hand. That was the thing about bad men. They refused to let you go until they were ready. I was ready. He wasn’t a believer, so I needed a man to make him understand.
They say the best way to get rid of one bad man was to find a badder man. I found mine. Sasha, head of the Valliev family, knew just the right words to whisper to Roshaun to make him disappear. Permanently.
Based on the reviews, I was not expecting to like let alone love this story. Maybe it’s just me but I just love it when an physical and emotional abuser, oppressor, and psychopath gets his comeuppance.
Yara’s ex had some serious mental damage. His actions throughout the years were reprehensible yet he called it love. She lost so much…I don’t want to give anything away. Her savior came in an unexpected package but sometimes you need devil to get rid of a demon.
If you love mafia interracial romances or revenge plots then you’ll definitely enjoy this story.
Yes honey. This book lit my little pussy on fire reading the love between sasha's and yarass love. I cant wait to read about the other brothers and there love intrests. It seem all of these guys are badasses. I wish book two wasnt till next year but I'm holding out for it. Renee you did your thang w this one girly. I absolutely love it. I shall be reading some of your other books till book 2 comes out. Ladies get ready. All I can say is dam Russian love is in baby.
This was such a long book, it turned me off. I didn't feel like reading a long book about killing, bit I did. Roshaun (whatever))killed his baby. That was the most awful thing. There was so much betrayal. The kind that made you cry. All the talk in the book, the end of course was rushed. Yara made me all kinds of sick. She got what she deserved looking for a man with money to pay her bills. Actually, a crook. She traded one killer for another. I had no sympathy for her. Well, some when her baby got killed. Sacha (whatever) said she didn't want what Roshaun (whatever) had when he went to kill him. Yes she did, she just found a richer mark. I was not really into this book. When she sneaked out, he shouldn't have found her. Let her get killed, with her stupid butt. She acted more childish that Addy. I am deleting the other one off my read for free. I don't want to read another long drawn out book that rush the ending.
OMG!!! Why did I waited this long to read this book????
I am so not happy with my self, awaiting this long to read this story. It actually started out a little bit too slow but once it picked up after the restaurant, it was on go all the time. Yara was getting on my nerves with her gullibleness, stupidness and plain annoyance. It’s like everything that will put her in danger, she did and then was sorry afterwards. She was not a good heroine. Sacha was the MAN…. BAE all over every day, hour, minute and second. He was alpha, boss man, gangster, educated, devoted and loyal. Refreshing character as the hero. Everyone was perfect except for Sam, Roshaun, Mike and the other officers, who were visited by karma and met their maker (one of the best part of the book)…. In any case I don’t know who I want to read about but I wonder if Nyah will be with Nikita, Alexii or Mikail? Wonderful series
First off, how can all the brothers and cousins be around all the time? Don’t they have jobs? They are supposed to be legal businessmen. What is it that they do exactly ? Back to the story. On one hand Yara wants us to believe that she’s been reborn into a strong woman but I am not seeing any evidence of that. She basically went from a monster to wanting another man to take care of her. The whole damsel in distress routine was annoying. The fact that she didn’t even try to learn self defense (too much sweat-what?) or even shoot a gun on her own was beyond belief, after what happened to her. She was basically all talk no action. I also didn’t like her life’s philosophy of basically using men for money. It rub me the wrong way. On one hand she went to Sasha for protection because he was a killer, but on the other end she says she didn’t want Roshaun dead. At the beginning she supposedly doesn’t know him, but in the end she says she knew it was him at the club. Her broken leg was supposed to prevent her from dancing but she’s putting on a show at the end? The love story wasn’t believable because they do not have any in depth conversations. It felt more like lust at first sight. There were also a lot of repetition in the book and the author went for the easy way out of Dimitri with Ayanna. Widen the circle please. They don’t need to all be with friends and black women. Could we also have mafia romance books with professional women ? The whole mafia guy with the stripper is a bit tired. Lastly the likelihood of the daughter having light blue eyes is minutes.
I am a big fan of Renee Williams and this story is one of my favorites. Sasha and Yara came together very unconventionally, but they built a love to last a lifetime. The moment they met the attraction was instant. Needing help regarding an abusive ex Yara seeks out Sasha believing him to be the only man who could protect her from him. Sasha being completely entranced by her agrees to help, but by his terms only. From there we are introduced to Mr. and Mrs. Valliev, and its not just in name. We are taken through the trials as they navigate marriage, exes, and the true meaning of love and family.
She sought him out, because she was desperate and needed help against a powerful ex who is terrorizing her. Unbeknownst to her that he had seen her 3 years prior and couldn’t get her out of his mind, that is until everything clicked and she remembered that brief moment when their eyes met across the room so so long ago. Sasha called it providence, fate ... and the chemistry between him and Yara can set the town ablaze. Let them take you to their journey, it wasn’t easy but Sasha will do about anything for his “lev”.
I knew Sam was trash. I felt it in my soul. It was clear from jump the Roshaun was a monster. He didn’t prove me wrong.
I liked sacha and his peoples as well as ny and Ayanna. I didn’t like yara 100%. She was too shallow. Obsessed with men based on status- money and power. That’s how she got caught up with a man like Roshaun and she’s lucky Sacha wasn’t the same.
This book a had quite a few typos and grammatical errors which was a little distracting but overall the story was enjoyable
Firstly I almost never write book reviews, mostly because I'm anxious to move on to the next... But THIS one was no short from the truth! Ms. Williams brought her A game! She completely caught my attention with her characters. Originally I scoffed at the premise, how to get rid of one pushy demanding, right revoking man? Get a bigger harder one concept, but she drew me all the way in. It was reality in a way that forces you to stop low-key judging the characters and simply walk in their story. I love how she touched on current events from the prospective of an although damaged AA female heroine along with documenting the ugly truth of choosing survival. She artfully depicted not only physical survivorship but mental and emotional as well. She was able to highlight all of the known strengths of black women also while displaying our need for protection, encouragement and the need for safe spaces to simply be! Be sad, be angry,be scared, be hopeless even. So raw and vulnerable. I love how she identified double standards of love and race, illuminated injustice in domestic violence situations all while allowing the reader to empathise and quietly self reflect. I know this gives very little away and that's by design! This book is too good to even give hints! Just know I loved their love, sis said enough is enough with her *hole ex and had a whole plan (delicious plan I may add!) and always watch your six!
True love, 100 percent honest communication, maturity, compromise, keep arguments between them, openness, going in committed and keeping the nay-sayers out of your business They are cute together Yara kept me laughing with her self talks
Yara we ALL have that little slutty voice in our head/ear
Yara stood 10 toes down for Sacha and vice versa
The Brothers and Cousins and Viktor their relationship is something to behold
Family I am so happy she has Nyah Ayanna and Addy
Roshaun His b!tch @ss didn't want her, he just wanted a punching bag. He knew he couldn't break her- so he just kept terrorizing her.
What did he have on them, (Curtis, Mike, Officer Price, Officer Brown, Sam, etc) that they IGNORED the fact, he beat on her constantly and then caused her to miscarry ...
******Sam***** I KNEW she was a dirty b!tch, from the way she was talking about Fu¢k Boy Roshaun ... Especially knew she was screwing him I could feel it. No 'SANE' woman would want her true friend with a b!tch @ss man like that. Nyah beat that @ss!!!!!!!
This was a good read. Can't wait to read the other 2 books.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I have read several of this authors’s books. This one is a bit darker than her usual fare but is a really good story. Sacha was privileged to watch Yara’s farewell dance performance now years later she has come to him for help in handling her ruthless, vindictive, and controlling ex. His solution is that they marry. This move puts them in the crosshairs of a psycho. I loved both main characters as well as the supporting characters. I look forward to the next installment in this series. There was also a really good twist that I didn’t really see coming. The book had some grammatical errors that were kind of distracting but they did not take away from the great storytelling.
Solutions get to the characters. Sasha was that man who just makes you melt. Loyal to those he loves, Deadly to those who would trying to hard them. Yara knew her addiction to bad boys was her downfall. But a woman knows what she likes.
The couple, the drama, the crazy ex. The book was a page turner.
My major issue were the typos. Renee you've got to add someone to your staff to help eliminate most if not all of these issues. And some of these are so simple, like remembering to spell his pet name for her the same way. Or punctuation marks.
I loved this book!! Lots of action, betrayal, love & sex!! I will mention that Yara wasn't as strong of a woman as she believed herself to be. Most of the betrayal had signs but her stupid, money hungry self-ignored them until it was too late. Other than sex, she didn't have anything to offer. She continued doing stupid s**t especially when she just had to sneak out of the house. I really wanted her to get hurt. She should have shot or something in this story instead of her friend. I love Sasha's Alpha butt!!
It was a great read, but the lack of editing hurt it's 5-star potential. Sacha was an alpha thru and thru and handled his business like a boss. He loved him some Yara ❤.Yara was so funny in the things she would say😆. I mean sometimes, I found myself laughing out loud. BUT the misspelled words, missing words, incomplete sentences were distracting. Storyline is definitely worth a 5, but....
Loved the relationship between Sacha and Yara! Yara knew her ex was nothing but bad news. So, she goes to Sacha for protection. Sacha agrees to protect Yara on the condition she marries him. What happens next is great reading! The book does have editing errors, which hinders the storyline, but it's still a great read. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
The book started off steamy and it continued throughout the book. Sacha appeared a true sexy alpha who every woman would want. The betrayals ran deep through the end, so it kept your head on a book swivel 😂😜. However the last betrayal, I seen that one coming a mile away, none the less it remained entertaining. My first read by the author, I look forward to many more.
I loved Sasha. I didn't like Yara until almost the end of the story. She wasn't likable. He fell in love with her looks I guess because her personality was lacking. She came off like a shallow & whiny damsel in distress. It was odd that a stripper who has been on her own since 18 years old while raising her sister had no street smarts. I'm looking forward to ayanna & Dimitri. I already like their vibe.
Yara loved herself a bad boy, that is until she found herself caught up with a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He costed her so much and at the first opportunity she reclaimed her freedom. He’s back like a bad rash and Yara makes a decision that will start a war. Betrayal will come from within the circle and only two in this unknown situation will survive in the final showdown.
Renee Williams , I had know idea. These Vasiliev men were totally unexpected. Sexy!!! The Whisperer is Russian Knights Book 1, Sacha and Yara story. This is an emotional, action packed, sexy romance suspense. Yara has an insane, vicious, homicidal Ex who won't let go. This is where Sacha Vasiliev enters her life. Get this book an see what he does!!!! Just Awesome❤🙋🏾♀️
Whew! Renee Williams brings her unique voice to turn up the action romance genre! Elegantly scripted sequences, deftly developed characters-including a villainy villain and sneaky sneaks as well as fiercely loyal friends and family-and swoony chemistry had me coming back for an entire second read. Yara was a true damsel in distress, but some of her moves got on my nerves!💆🏽♀️Thankfully, Sacha’s every move satisfied. 🔥
This is so heartwarmingly beautiful, I hate that she had to go through a total frog to find her perfect prince but she truly got what she deserved in life. I won’t speak on things that happened in the book because I hate spoilers. Just know that this was a great love story with twists and turns, drama and most definitely HEAT. This book could have been edited better which would have lead to a more enjoyable reading experience but I still enjoyed it.
If not for the numerous misspellings and omitted words, I would have given this book five stars. The typos were annoying and disrupted the flow of the story. That being said, the story was captivating and had lots of intrigue and action. I loved the story line and the alphas and their loyal, protective nature.
A very nice start to the series. I would’ve have given it more stars if it wasn’t for all of the editing errors. Geesh. Did anyone proofread this? The wrong punctuation and then the switches between characters with no direction.
I still stayed up all night to finish. I will continue to read the series. However I strongly suggest someone go back and fix it.
I have read other works by this author and quite enjoyed it. This story started out slow and annoying. Every other word was the name of the protagonist...... .Urrrgggghhhh I was tempted to give up. But I really enjoyed her last work and have it a. Chance which I do not regret. It got better, and more enjoyable.
I loved this book. Can’t wait to read stories about all of the main characters. I only gave it four stars because of all of the grammatical errors. I started to highlight them all but then I felt like I was grading English essays. It was distracting but it was still a good story about love and loyalty and how far we will go to protect family.
I believe this is my first time reading this author's work. It took me more than a few days to finish because the story did not flow well at all. More than half the book was a repeat of Roshaun's obsession with Yara. It was so repetitious, that on same pages it was literally the same words on a different page. The story have potential it just fell flat
I loved the concept of this story however the editing was very poorly done. Timelines, Maxim's family, his nickname for Yara; those were only the small errors which made it a frustrating read. I don't want to give up on this series or this author but I do hope the next book has a bit better flow.
I enjoyed the chemistry between Sacha and Yara. What is meant to be will be but I had a feeling about that one and was proven right. Betrayal cost and people learn this lesson too late. You never know how you'll receive your biggest blessing and Sacha and Yara found it in each other.
Good plot, a well developed story line, and very good action kept me reading until the end. It was the missing words and misspelled words that drove me mental. Find a good editor. Keep writing. I'll be watching for the next book in the series.
In the beginning it had me, but the character kept going on and on about Roshaun, I was beginning to think the book should’ve been about Roshaun. I would’ve gave it 3 stars, but to many grammar errors.
