Rancher Wolves #6

Rancher Wolf's Doctor Mate

Rate this book
I didn’t know that she was off limits when I kissed her… twice.
She didn’t know I was a wolf-shifter when she decided to kiss me back either…

Becoming a doctor had always been my lifelong dream.
I didn’t think I’d let anyone, or any scandal come in the way of that.
But Ellen proved me wrong.
A brilliant doctor, a generous coworker, a kind soul.
She didn’t deserve my secrets.
She also didn’t deserve to be in a secret relationship.

But keeping our love under wraps was the only way.
We couldn’t keep our hands off each other.
Our hearts knew that we belonged together, but the world couldn’t find out… not yet.
My love for Ellen solidified when she treated one of my brothers.

But would I be able to save her from her biggest enemy?

Her life was in jeopardy, and I was her only hope.
This danger was far from being our only problem…
Ellen was keeping a secret from me too.
One that would die along with her if I didn’t get to her on time.

Each book in this sexy-as-sin series can each be read as standalones, and has no cliffhangers, but are best read in order.

Not my favorite but still entertaining.

I wrote reviews of book 1-3 of this series and then stopped. I am of the opinion that if you can't say something nice or at least constructive don't say anything at all. Yet, now that I have read the final book, Rancher Wolf's Doctor Mate, I realize my objections to the Rancher Wolves series by Serena Meadows has more to do with personal tastes then any technical writing issues. So often when I read negative reviews of other books I notice the same thing. Rarely do the reviews contain constructive criticism that might help the writer improve the novel. Instead it's all about what that particular reader prefers to read.
Let's face it! We all have our own KINK. Some of us prefer "sweet" romance, which like a good Doris Day movie hints at sex, with a moonlit room and curtains gently blowing in the breeze. Others prefer more explicit sex, hot steamy, the more erotic the better. Some paranormal romance readers have certain types of magic and traits they prefer to read about, such as Fae vs. Shifters or witches. Or maybe you are the reader who likes to read about characters with certain paranormal talents, like precognition, versus being able to see and speak to the dead. If you pick up a book that is not your usual cup of tea, you may be tempted to leave a less then 5 star review.
As I said, I think this was the case for me with Rancher Wolves. I prefer my shifters to be very Alpha in personality. Strong, dominant, but loving, protective and willing to sacrifice their lives for their fated mates. I also love to read how these men get brought to their knees when they finally meet that one person whose soul completes them. The bond , soul connection is so strong , that to be away from that person causes excruciating physical and emotional pain. They may struggle at times with whether or not love such as this really exists especially true with human mates. But the connection is so strong, the Alpha shifter can tell even without words, the truth of in his mate's soul. I like the sex to be hot and steamy as possible. I don't mind reading erotica and don't think of it as reading porn. But sex can't dominate the story. The conflict in the plot has to be more then just how the lovers can get each other in bed. There has to be a storyline beyond how many different positions you can screw!
So when I realized that I had problems with Rancher Wolves because the characters were not my preferred type of Alpha male shifters, I went back and re-read the books to see if there was anything constructive I could say. The idea is to help other readers to determine if they should read the book or not. Here is my take on these books...the series about six rancher brothers who are wolf shifters who encounter their fated mates in a variety of different circumstances, is entertaining. I found them easy to read and often finished them in less then a day. The series is set in Montana and Serena does a good job of making the setting come alive. There is plenty of sex so this book is definitely for adults only. But it doesn't overwhelm the plot of the story. There is action and some suspense. I would have preferred after the slow climb to the climax that hadn't been such a rush to end the story. But again personal preference not a technical writing problem. I already discussed that my biggest issue was the male protagonists were less alpha then their mates. Again personal preference. Serena Meadows however, writes about strong females, who despite a very bad past life, are survivors. Her females grow in character and strength of will, becoming better people because of surviving. And that is a joy to read.
Rancher Wolves may not have been my usual cup of tea but I am glad I tried it.

Gabes Story and the Best One Yet!

They just keep getting better! Gabe is in his first year of his residency and literally sits on this beautiful girl in the coffee shop! What a way to start a relationship! She runs off before he can find out anything about her. He runs into her again at the hospital, but still doesn’t realize she is a doctor and is in charge of the residence program. He pursues her and over time they develop a friendship. He knows she is his mate so he keeps pushing her for a date. When he finds out that she is the doctor in charge of the residence, he is shocked and angry she never told him, but finally realizes why she has been fighting a relationship with him. Student and teacher – absolutely forbidden! When Gabe catches the hospital administrator sexually harassing her, he is livid and vows to protect her. She says she can handle him herself and begs Gabe not to interfere and risk losing his residency. When they get snowed in together during a really bad winter storm, Ellen can’t fight her feelings any longer. Just as things are finally working out for them, Gabe gets a phone call and must leave immediately because his brother is critically ill and getting worse by the minute. Ellen wants to go with him and help treat his brother, but she is afraid. Will she finally get brave enough to risk her heart and her career, and what will she think of his wolf when she finds out?

This is a well written book and held my interest from start to finish. Well done Serena!

Gabe is just starting his residency and doesn't need any distractions. Unfortunately, the woman that he met at a coffee shop when he first came to town is just that - distracting. If he didn't know better he would swear she was his mate, but that is probably just the lack of sleep and the fact that several of his brothers have found their mates. Right?

Ellen can't believe she keeps ending up in compromising situations with the man who almost sat on her in a coffee shop. A man who different doesn't realize she is essentially his boss. So why hasn't she cleared that matter up? She is at the hospital because she got the chance to have a lab so she can continue her research. She already has the obnoxious hospital administrator trying to worm his way into her life, she doesn't need to get fired for canoodling with one of the residents. But when Gabe finds out how Devlin is harassing her he is livid, but he gets even madder when he discovers that she is his superior. But when his brother's life is threatened by some kind of infectious disease and he is called home, Ellen's offer to help is a godsend. This is her specialty and she is going to do everything she can to help the brother of the man she is falling for.

Loved thisb

Loved this one. Gabe was attracted to Ellen but didn’t realise she was Dr Buchner his boss but he also was attracted to her and had invited her out plus kissed her a couple of times which stirred up his ancient magic.
Ellen didn’t know what it was about Gabe that pulled her to him but he didn’t take it well when she told him who she was plus the hospital boss was making moves on her and was getting aggressive with her saying she knows how the system works and she owes him for letting her carry on her lab work.
Gabe didn’t like the way Delvin was around Ellen and how he needed her to forgive him. Gabe was called by his brother to say his brother Nate was in hospital and they needed him home as nothing was working and could he help him.
Ellen was with Gabe when he got the news she ended up going to help Gabe especially when Delvin tried to rape her and only because her assistant walked into the room and punching him saved Ellen.
Gabe told Ellen about who and what he was but she was in love with him and took the news well and only when she went through the folder of the history of their shifter abilities did she realise why Nate was so ill. Gabe went looking for Ellen when Nate was getting better but she wasn’t there and was told what Delvin had done to her and it must be him who took him now the race was on to find Ellen his mate.

Gabe accidentally sat on a woman and when he sees her again in the hospital where he is doing his residency, he decides it fate and he must speak to her, in fact he ends up kissing her. But she keeps pulling away and he doesn’t know why.
Ellen has led a sheltered life, she is an exceptionally intelligent woman and just because she is good looking, people underestimate her. Her boss however, is constantly coming on to her but in a sleazy way. When he comes on too strong her lab partner manages to intervene and she thinks it’s over.
She thought she was in love once but it ended badly and so she has decided to live without love. But when Gabe kisses her, she is so flummoxed that she doesn’t tell him she is technically his boss and when he finds out he doesn’t react very well.
I really enjoyed this book, it reminded me a bit of Grey’s Anatomy in the beginning. Ellen and Gabe were wonderful characters and as you got to know them you get to understand them better. A great read.

Another great story in this series. This is the 6th book in the Rancher Wolves series and it just keeps getting better and better. I have really enjoyed getting to know each of the brothers in this series. This is the story of Gabe and Ellen. Gabe is doing his residency and meets Ellen without realizing she is technically his boss. Gabe feels an instant attraction to her and realizes that this is his mate. Ellen although she knows she shouldn’t, is also attracted to Gabe. Ellen is doing research in infectious diseases and is using the hospital lab to further her research. She’s use to men not sticking around because she is smarter than them and they are intimidated by her. When one of Gabe’s brothers gets sick, will Ellen be able to help or will someone try to get in the way since she’s not playing by the rules? This story has it all – passion, chemistry, deception, action and romance. I cannot wait to read the next story! This was a really riveting read, I thoroughly enjoyed every page
Ellen is a brilliant Doctor and has been wonderful inspiration for him encouraging his action and reaction and her gentle nature and her care and compassion has rubbed off on him and he knows that she is a guiding light and he wants to stay on the straight and narrow and make her happy.
They have been keeping their relationship under wraps so that their colleagues have no idea what is going on between the both of them, they know that they are meant to be together it feels so right and she even came through when one of his brother’s life was on the line.
She always puts her patient’s health, care and wellbeing first and this means that she is well respected by those she knows and by those she has helped and will help in the future.
She is one in a million and jointly their skills could save so many lives.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Gabe meets an attractive woman in an unconventional way in the local coffee shop and is attracted to her. But she runs off. When he sees her again in the hospital where he is a resident, he not only talks to her, but he kisses her. He can tell that she is his mate. Yet she pushes him away and he can’t figure out why. He is angry later when he finds she is his boss and didn’t tell him.

Ellen happens to be doing her research on infectious diseases and uses the hospital lab. When one of Gabe’s brothers gets critically sick and Gabe needs to return to the pack, will he allow Ellen to go with him to help? This is her area of expertise and she might be able to save his brother. Do they have a future together? Will she accept his wolf?

Shifter stories just draw me in right from the start. The characters in this story are intriguing. And the story line moves along at the perfect page. How will Ellen react when she finds out Gabe’s secret? Will she be able to save his brother’s life?

What do we learn about Gabe at the beginning of the story? How does he meet Ellen? Where is he? Who is Simon? Who is June and what 'tour' is she giving? What does Mark say that Gabe agrees with? What does each of these folks do for a living? Who are Randy and Devlin? How does everyone know one another? I have to say I got a cick out of Randy! Oh my gosh, when Gabe gets a call about Nate, my heart just about stopped! Why is he in the hospital? While Gabe heads home, what happens with Ellen and Randy? When Ellen is working in a make-shift lab in Montana, what happens? Read and see how this turns out! Talk about a big question mark at the end when a woman shows up to see Carrie! I cannot wait to find out what that is about. Will this story have a happy ending?

This interesting book 6 of 7 in the Rancher Wolves Book Series is a steamy standalone shifter romance story, a bad boy romance with a sexy, strong irresistible, alpha male and a sexy female romance. This well written book has characters who are well crafted with well-developed histories and personalities. This has a wonderful story and has an element of suspense. The characters in this book are very well crafted with issues which they resolve and the characters have growth. The story has drama, suspense, laughter and a lot of emotions to keep the reader entranced and entertained throughout the book. A must read Book Series.

This is the sixth book in the series of Rancher Wolves. Gabe is an intern at the hospital when he returns home. His boss is a woman that he thinks might be his mate, but he does not want any distractions. He does not realize at first she is his boss. There is another man that is an admin at the hospital that will not leave her alone. This makes Gabe very mad about how she is being treated. Things get complicated when his brother gets an infectious disease and he has to go help while she offers her help with his brother. These two get hot and steamy and the drama is great as usual, not too much, just enough for what is needed. With her being his boss, can they actually have their HEA?

Gabe is starting his residency but finds a familiar face among the hospital staff.
Gabe Monterrey is starting his residency and among the staff he recognizes the woman he had accidentally sat on and who he finds himself attracted to. Dr Ellen Buckner had become a doctor at sixteen and finished her residency at eighteen so looked too young for people to take he seriously without her having to prove herself now after years of research she has taken the job at the hospital after losing her funding at the last place. Wary of men she is cautious of the resident who takes interest in her. A paranormal romance with a crazy doctor adding excitement to the plot.

Gabe Monterey, wolf shifter of the Monterey Pack, always wanted to be a doctor, and finally he starts his residency. Here he meets Ellen, a brilliant young doctor, who has some secrets of her own, one of them a boss, who turns more and more into a stalker.
A strange situation ensues, as Gabe and Ellen want to be together, but have to keep it quiet to apeace Ellen's boss.
A thrilling book, interwoven with romance and the description of a typical life for a doctor in residence..
In some ways a typical "Rancher Wolves" book, but different as it mostly is situated around the hospital.
Entertaining, a page-turneer and fun. A great combination.

Ellen and Gabe are both doctors, but need to hide their attraction from the rest of the hospital, as she is his boss. So much drama unfolds as her boss goes psycho about her and one of his many brothers gets very sick and they can not find out why. She and her colleague come to the rescue, along with Gabe, to treat his brother... but they are missing an important piece of info. The family are wolf shifters and the blood work has baffled her until Gabe tells her his final secret. Loved how they fell in love and nothing could change it. Family and friends are the best support. Very well done and I plan on rereading this again very soon.

This was a cute, heartwarming read with some humor, suspense, danger, plenty of passion and a strong bonding between Gabe and Ellen. Gabe was just starting his internship when he met Ellen in a coffee shop. Unknown to him, she was his new boss, but it didn’t stop him from flirting with her. After a few encounters, he finds out who she really is. At first he’s upset and angry, but the attraction is too strong. Only problem is The hospital administrator had his eye on Ellen too, and he wasn’t backing down. Good storyline and wonderful, lovable characters in our H and h. Looking forward to the net book in this series.

Great storyline but terrible editing

I am really enjoying this series EXCEPT for the editing. It may not bother some but for me it is very distracting. This book introduced a new editing blunder with the use of the semicolon (;)...Instead of ending the sentence and beginning a new sentence, semicolons were used. Also, it seems like a whole chapter may have been left out. They were talking about going down to breakfast, having a girls day shopping, and then coming back to go horseback riding that afternoon. Next chapter starts with them going down for dinner! Very confusing. All in all, I do enjoy the story lines in each of the books and the characters are all very well developed an entertaining. Just need to fix the editing!

I purchased this as a bundle the author offered called RANCHER WOLVES.

Not all info given, as has been the case in all the 5 previous stories. There is an epilogue, but it is just a set up for the next story.

I wish the author gave info on the villain, what happened to him? Did the couple live in Montana? Did she set up another lab? Did she get pregnant asap, as the other women in the series have? Why didn't Nate heal himself when he first became sick?

Lovemaking outside of marriage, heat level 4 out of 5. No cheating, no cliffhanger but you will have questions as I did, some romance and steam. This is a standalone story and as with the others in the series, ends abruptly. (ljb)

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Rancher Wolf's Doctor Mate by Serena Meadows is the sixth book in the Rancher Wolves series. I really enjoyed this read. Serena Meadows did an awesome job of capturing the chaos and insecurities associated with medical residency. I loved the whole "I Sat On Her" conversations and resulting humor. Gabe and Ellen went through a lot to be happy together. This fast paced fun read is a great addition to Ranchers series. Sexy shifter and mate drama and love scenes make this a Mature Readers Only read.

A wolf doctor !
by LNovotasky

This book looks like is part of a series but you don't have to have read the others to understand whats going on. This one was the first one that I read from the collection and it was really interesting. The love scenes, except for one time, are not overly explicit. The issue that the Hero is a wolf-shifter is not the main issue in the story. In short this is a fast paced story with a strong and smart heroine and a Hero that complement her.

We have a miscommunication and more in this story. Gabe has always wanted to be a doctor and is now in his residency in a hospital. No time for sleep and some times talking should not be done. Ellen is a brilliant doctor and is working in a lab plus over the residence doctors. They meet and now they have to keep a secret that could ruin both their lives. What will they do to keep the secret? What will they do to save each other? What secrets could end them?

This started pretty good. Once I got about 30% in though, it kind of changed. Part could be because I work in a hospital. However, first of all, an administrator most likely wouldn’t be attending, so they wouldn't be at a hospital at midnight. I get that there’s a reason behind it, but still. Second, and I do understand they’re kind of different, but having the MC basically doing the same as the antagonist (actually more aggressively), and her (not really) being ok with it just had me kind of done. DNF.

Gabe and Ellen, story.

A good quick love story, in the hospital between two Doctors and against the rules.
Gabe starting his internship, and Ellen a dedicated research Dr.
Instant attraction as gabe accidentally sets on her lap. As Ellen fights the growing attraction Gabe is wondering if this feeling is telling him she is his mate.
A blizzard provides the perfect time to be together with out any one knowing.
Danger lurks in and out of the hospital.
Read the bookfor a good relaxing romance with danger lurking in the background.

Gabe has just started his internship at the hospital but before he does he sits on a young woman and there is an instant attraction. Turns out she is his boss, in charge of the interns. She is young, brilliant, and hunted by the man who hired her. She and Gabe hide their relationship from everyone. When his brother Nate gets sick and he is called home, all bets are off. What will happen when she learns the truth? A happy ending. Gabe is the last of the brothers to fall in love but there are two more books in the series. I plan to read them as well. I am hooked.

Gabe Monterrey’s internship and courtship of prodigy, Dr. Ellen Buckner begins oddly. First, he sat on her lap in a coffee shop, then he kissed her three times before learning she was his boss. Gabe needs to find a way to tell Ellen how he feels, that he’s a shifter, keep his job and end the very obvious obsession Ellen’s boss seems to have with her. But before Gabe can take care of that, he’s called home, one of his brothers is spiraling from a mysterious sickness. Maybe Ellen can help.

Each book in this series about a different Monterrey brother has been entertaining with they're own storyline and Gabe's is no exception. There was drama, comedy, and a whole spectrum of other emotions in Rancher Wolf's Doctor Mate. The characters continue to be strong as well, along with a well thought out and delivered plot.

Excellent story. The Doc. found himself a Doc., very smart one too. This story was a little more tame than the rest of them. it is still very good one and the plot was somewhat different also. The ending is exciting. All the brothers are married and I was hoping that the author would start on cousins. So I am excited to see another story in the works. Wolf shifter Dr. Gabe Monterrey is finished with medical school and has finally been accepted into a residency program. He is excited to finally be finishing his training so he can practice medicine back home. Since the director of the same hospital that Gabe now works at has provided a lab for her, Dr. Ellen Buckner accepted the position of administrator of the resident program so she could continue her research. This story has both romance and steam plus a HEA. Highly recommended.
