Edited and introduced by Devin Johnston, REACHING LIGHT selects from five decades of work by one of Australia's finest poets. Readers of Robert Adamson's books will have understood that this distinguished man of letters and major poet is one of the most significant gifts that Australia can offer the rest of the world.
I don't like compilation albums very much I would much rather hear Fred Bloggs five studio albums rather than The Best of Freed Bloggs, so maybe I would find the original collections more engaging, or maybe I just didn't identify with Adamson, or maybe they were not that great. I tend to think it is a combination of one and two. Give me an 80 page original collection where they fit together and act as a work rather than bits and pieces selected from hither and thither, and also maybe I wasn't in the right head space fro them too truly affect me as they otherwise might. I will revisit Adamson, but I am thinking of aiming for a "studio album" piece rather than a "greatest hits"
And how was this not on Goodreads anyway? I had to add it, such a travesty! Well hit was a bit of a surprise anyway.
