Cedar Point #2.5

The Start of Someday

Rate this book
Abby Fuller wants to have a little fun. Sure, she wants a relationship… someday. But for now, a little heat is exactly what the cold weather calls for. Breaking her own rules, she tumbles into bed with a handsome tourist passing through town…only to find him standing in her living room the following day.

Jackson Page is only in town for business. He isn’t expecting a sexy little something with the woman who hits on him at the bar, and he definitely isn’t expecting her to be the younger sister of the friend he’s visiting. Clearly, nothing more can happen between them…no matter how good they are together.

But stolen moments and the magic of the holidays make it seemingly impossible for Abby and Jackson to ignore one very real truth: maybe their one night together could be the start of something more.

A steamy holiday novella set in the Cedar Point series.

I love the Cedar Point series stories and this wasn’t any different. I’m actually surprised cause this was a short, instalust, quick, holiday novella. Which usually isn’t my jam.

I just enjoyed it a lot and I’m mad it wasn’t longer. But like also appreciated the short quick romantic hot story.

Abby goddamn, I loved her!! And the whole speech thing about how she can bang whoever she wants? GIRL YES PREACH LOVED IT. I’m surprised at how fast I liked Jackson. He was so nice and hot.

I’m so happy with this novella. I missed my Cedar Point family and the small-town magic.

I thoroughly enjoy and love Jillian’s writing. She is awesome and she always has me smiling. I’m super stocked for the next book of the series!!!

*I would recommend you to read at least the second book of the series so you can feel more connected to Abby, the heroine, but I think this can be read on its own.*

4-4.5 “why wasn’t this a full novel” stars

I loved this. Abby girl- you are a total bad ass and put men in their place when they need to be. And Jackson - hot as hell Jackson made me like him in book that’s literally barely over 60 pages. I wish this was the third book because this had so much potential. This novella was so great tho. A quick- super quick- instalust romance read.

This was a short-but-sweet read from a new-to-me-author.

I haven’t read any of the other books in this series, and there were some crossovers–but nothing that was too confusing for me to read.

The two main characters meet at a bar, have a short, sexy, conversation and proceed to have a one-night stand.

The next day, as chance would have it, they have someone in common and see each other again.

From then, follows a short, steamy read that ends with a happily-ever-after-for-now.

It took about an hour to read and I will say that I was engrossed with the characters and how they’d end up.

The reason this wasn’t a higher-starred read for me was because–even though I think the writing was good, I wasn’t impressed with how shallow the relationship was between the two main characters and how they felt able to build upon something like that.

But, I kind of chalk that up to person choice and preference. Because even with that, I have every intention of catching up on the rest of the series!

This is a gorgeous read! A sweet and sexy novella set in the Cedar Point series, it’s a brother’s best friend romance that is full of chemistry, and I loved it so much!

This is the story of Abby (the best friend of Briar who was featured in the last book of the series, The Opposite of Falling). Abby is out at the local bar one evening when she spots the hottest guy she’s ever seen. Being the bold and brave woman that she is, she decides to proposition him, and the two of them end up sharing a blisteringly hot night together. But Jackson is just visiting Cedar Point, and when she leaves before he wakes in the morning, she never expects to see him again. So, imagine her surprise when the next day her brother, Rusty, introduces her to his best friend from college, Jackson. Oh, and he’s staying with them while the boys set up a new business venture.

Jackson is thrilled to see Abby again. He wasn’t ready for their night together to be over and, in his eyes, the fact that she’s Rusty’s little sister is only a minor hurdle. The chemistry between them is out of control, and he wants more.

I remember random hookups when I was at school, and it never felt like this – like a fucking avalanche of sensation that can’t be controlled or corralled in any way.
Looks like I just need to hold on or risk getting swept away.

It’s such a fun set up, and I loved the way that Abby and Jackson handled themselves through such a tricky situation. They don’t hide, they’re upfront and honest, and they don’t dismiss anything that happened between them. There’s no angst or stupid behaviour, it’s all very real and I was so pleasantly surprised at the way it all played out.

“The world we live in is filled with women who want different things, Rusty. Some women want to wait until they’re married. Others want to fuck constantly and never get married. And then there are a million levels in between. Guess what is on none of those levels? Room for a man’s disapproval. You wanna have opinions about shit? Be my guest, but keep them to your own damn self. I’ll be over here, enjoying the choices I make, without consulting you.”

God, that speech is epic!!

I love these characters! Even in such a short read, I appreciated their strength and their vulnerabilities, and I love how honest they are. The chemistry between them absolutely sizzles, and they are absolutely fantastic together! From sharing sweet, quiet moments to their intense passion for each other, there’s something special about them and they know it. And even though Jackson is only in town temporarily, they both know that it could be the start of something amazing.

“There is just something about you that feels different. Makes me want to reconsider…everything.”

This is such a cute read! Short, sweet, sexy and romantic, it made me smile and left me feeling all fluffy and loved-up. It’s a great addition to the series.

4.5 stars.

The Start of Someday
by Jillian Liota is a holiday novella set in her Cedar Point universe. If you haven't read the prior two books no worries, but it will make you want to go back and read them.

Abby is used to being the good girl but decides for one night to let loose and hook up with a hottie at the bar. The morning after she finds out the hottie, Jackson, is a really close college friend of her brothers. Her brother Rusty raised her after their parents died, and he was there for Jackson when he needed him so when Rusty tells them he's not okay with them hooking up they both step back. Except spending time together during the holidays and getting to know each other more just makes their connection grow stronger.

"That titter in her voice, the sparkle in her eye, the sheer joy on her face... I feel hooked."

This was a perfect little holiday novella with just the right amount of steam and right amount of touching moments. Jillian Liota is excellent at writing strong female characters. Abby is fun but responsible, and she stands up for herself. I love her relationship with her friends and the way she kept her parent's memories close to her heart. Jackson was a good compliment to her, but I felt he was a little forgettable. There wasn't anything I disliked about him but nothing that stood out. But that didn't take away from the fact that the intimate scenes between them were hot as hell.

"[...] our mouths dueling, eager, needy. That's how he makes me feel. Needy. Like nothing I touch is enough. I just want more. More. More. More."

The Start of Someday
was a great addition to the Cedar Point series and I can't wait for more books. I need Rusty to have a book soon please and thank you lol

"Someday, when I look back on all the holidays of my life," he says, looking over at me, "I'll remember the one when I spent a few weeks in a tiny town in the mountains. I'll think to myself, the best holiday I've ever had was the night I sat under the tree lights drinking hot chocolate with Abby Fuller."

Ahh, this novella gives me all the swoon!! Jillian Liota is a relatively new author to me and I've been in love with her writing style ever since I first read book one in the Cedar Point series sometime last year. Accordingly, I've never missed her new releases since then and to my surprise, I've enjoyed every single piece of her story so far!

It's also incredible that Jillian manages to convey such a beautiful and hopeful message about finding love during the holiday season, which happens to be my most favorite meet-cute scenario. The protagonists', Abby and Jackson's, love story is an unconventional one, and even though their relationship stems from a one-night stand, I--for once--doesn't find it revolting like I usually do. The pace of the story is so well-thought-out and I simply adore both of them more than I expected.

In short, I love this cute, light-hearted, and quick read, and perhaps, Abby and Jackson have brought us some holiday magic along with their journey in the name of gradually finding that start of someday. *wink wink* Highly recommend this novella and the whole series! I can't wait to see what Jillian has in store for us in the following installments in Cedar Point. :)

This book was absolutely adorable, yet super steamy! It was just written really well for how short it is. From the way Jackson and Abby meet, to their connection that burns bright, I was completely invested in the story and the characters. And that chemistry, WOW. I definitely would recommend this cute holiday novella!

A short and spicy novella about Briar’s best friend, Abby and her brother’s best friend Jackson! And it’s set at Christmas 🎄

I love that Abby’s brother wasn’t the conflict and no breakup!

All the heart eyes and swooning over this holiday novella!

Abby has been one of my favorite supporting characters in the Cedar Point series, therefore I was elated to see she was the heroine in this short story.

Jackson was that hero that you can’t help but fall head over heels for, from the very start. Smart, sexy, charismatic and funny. He was the perfect match for feisty Abby on so many levels.

The connection these two shared went so far beyond the lust that initially drew them to one another. My heart warmed at the fact that both characters stood up to Rusty about their feelings towards one another. Both fearlessly put themselves out there and went for what they wanted.

This book had it all! Gut-busting humor, deeply emotional reflection, unbreakable bonds, and some extremely hot bedroom encounters! I adored the HEA and can’t wait to see more of this couple in future Cedar Point books!

Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC to read before release, just because! <3

This book was cute! A sweet, Cedar Point holiday time read. I was excited to get Abby's story. She is friends with Briar and is in the process of moving out of her brother's house and into a place with her friend. She has a night out and meets a sexy guy. I liked the way they met and how brazen she was! It was something different for her and something she didn't ordinarily do. I liked the chemistry between Abby and Jackson. I liked that they realized there was something more. This story was sexy, fun and easy to read. I liked this addition to the Cedar Point world.

Abby Fuller has one important trait that I am sure has gotten her in a few tight spots a time or two. That would be how loud she talks. On this night it’s a possibility, and I’ll let you be the judge of it as I get through it all. You see, she was out for drinks with her best friend Briar and Andy, Briar's fiancé. When she sees a guy at the bar so fine with an a$$ that she tells Briar she could bounce a quarter off it. She attempts Briar to play along with her and look like they used to do before she and Andy became a couple.

She finally told her, You’re dating the man, not blind. Briar lets out a sigh and quickly looks over at the bar in the direction where Abby has been drooling and says, “I’d give it a solid six out of ten,” she finally said. Abby barks, “What?” she says, and not quietly. “That is just…completely false. His a$$ is at least a nine, easy.” Andy comes back from the bar getting their drinks and asks, “What did I miss?” Andy Marshall sidles up to our table with his second beer of the night and monitors Briar’s first drink; she is such a lightweight, anyway.

Briar says, “Abby’s making her stare at other men,” she tells him, a faux pout on her face. Then she leans into him. “We’re rating butts.” “Butt, one. One butt.” All as she points her finger at Briar. “Which one?” he whispers. Briar lets out a long string of uncharacteristic giggles. She points at where we’ve been looking. “That’s a five-star. a$$ if I’ve ever seen one.” Briar’s giggling increases, and Abby falls in with her, unable to help herself in the wake of Andy’s incredibly accurate but also very funny assessment.

“Thank you,” Abby says, turning to glare at Briar. “See?” Abby’s attention shifts when she hears a metallic slap on the table and catches sight of a large hand as it’s pulling back. She follows the movement until Abby’s eyes land on a man standing right next to her. It’s… Holy shit, it’s the guy from the bar. The five-star a$$ guy. “Let me know if you want to use that later,” he says, a smirk stretching across his face. Before she can think to say anything in response, he winks and walks off. But when she looks down at the table, she knows their brief encounter is very real.

Because there, sitting in front of her, is a shiny silver quarter. “Was I that loud?” Andy snorts. “Well, I could hear your ass talk at the other end of the bar, so my guess is he could too.” When she and the sexy out-of-towner, Jackson Page, use that quarter and so many positions that she wears him out, she leaves him sleeping and heads out to get ready to go to work. The only thing she regretted a bit was not leaving him her number when she slipped out of bed in the early hours of the morning to get home and showered before her shift at Ruthie’s.

But, Howdy Doody, does she get the surprise of a lifetime when she gets home? She gets to meet the longtime college friend/brother of Rusty’s who will be investing in his new business brewery, Jackson. They are both shocked beyond belief. See how this impacts each of their relationships with Rusty, with each other, and with their interaction with the community when Rusty starts catching on. Such a cute book. Heartfelt, too.

A quick little read - they fall fast and quick and the book is over before you know it. It's VERY steamy (more steam than story). But it was fine... it is another falling for brother's best friend (but in this case, didn't know it) situation... there are far too many of those in this series. But still, benign and entertaining enough. I felt you did need to read this before book 3. In fact, I stopped the middle of reading book 3 to read this novella.

Book 1: The Trouble With Wanting
Book 2: The Opposite of Falling
This Book: The Start of Someday
Book 3: The Problem with Perfect

Abby & Jackson ❤️‍🔥

A short & steamy novella about a one-night-stand that ends with love. Abby & Jackson meet at a bar & decide to be together for the night, without exchanging names. When Jackson turns out to be her brother’s friend, the two try to fight their growing attraction but the holiday spirit keeps them connected.

The meet cute for Abby and Jackson had me grinning like a fool and their one night stand was pretty hot. Talk about a surprise though when they find out her brother is his friend. And I couldn't stop chuckling when Jackson just couldn't refrain from sharing all the things. This novella packed a nice amount of both heat and sweetness; overall a very enjoyable read.

The chemistry was burning up the book from the very first page. Jackson and Abby had lots of witty flirting and steamy honesty. This novella wasn’t long enough for them to sneak around much, which was actually refreshing. They didn’t fight their feelings or act aloof. Sure, they had to navigate Rusty’s feelings, but it was very mature. And hot.

“There’s never been a contest, if I’m honest. Abby and that damn quarter will win, every time. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Short and sweet🖤 I loved Abby finding her man, I know this was only really short and I wanted more time with these two but I still loved it sm

I really hope Rusty finds the one too 🥺

I love this novella

What a delightful read in between books. I read two other books in this series at different intervals, so I was already familiar with these characters. This story is short but steamy. Probably one of my all time favorite novellas. No angst or high level drama...just a couple falling in love.

This was such a cute novella I loved Abby in the last book and I was so excited to get this sweet little story. My only complaint is that it wasn’t a full book I would have loved to get more in-depth with Abby and Jackson.

This was short and see and I’m happy I read it.

The Start of Someday is a holiday novella that follows secondary character Abby Fuller from the Cedar Point series.

I loved that we got to see Abby getting her own HEA, and with a brother's best friend trope that doesn't have that annoying "I want you but can't have you" back and forth situation.

What you can expect:
• one night stand
• brother's business partner
• fling to forever
• small town
• spice
