This book was actually co-written by Jocelyne's identical twin sister Monique, which is what attracted me to it. The Lamoureux twins grew up in North Dakota and together they earned spots on the U.S. National ice hockey team. They led the U.S. Olympic team to two silver medals (2010 and 2014) and one gold ( 2018). What is most inspiring about their stories though are two events that took place away from the rink: the near-boycott of the 2017 World Championships, which forced USA Hockey to provide the women with equitable resources and support as compared to the men, and their efforts to combine motherhood with hockey later in their careers.
The way the story is told is quite engaging. The twins take turns narrating the book -- not rotating chapters, but sometimes by rotating paragraphs. It's a structure that, somehow, works very well and kept me reading.
