If you love small towns, endearing relationships, food, animals, and a touch of murder, you will love this mystery series set in the small town of White Eagle Montana.
In book 11 in the series, Tess fills in at the post office after the woman who took over her route broke her leg. While on route for the first time in a year she discovers that her father has left her brother Mike with a baby to hide and protect. Tess has never really been one to go all gooey over babies but when she discovers this particular little darling in need she enlists Tony's help to make sure she is well hidden and to look for the babies mother.
Meanwhile Tess's mother has a new boyfriend her father isn't too happy about and Mike has a new murder to solve.
Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home. Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

Review:
The characters are well rounded and well developed. Mike has received a big surprise from his father--a baby. His father dropped off the baby and asked him to protect it. The baby winds up with Tess and Tony and they are prepared to do everything they can to keep her safe. And it gets Tilly thinking about having a child of their own. I enjoyed seeing this side of Tess.
The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The descriptions are very vivid and they added a lot to the story. The mystery has numerous twists and turns that kept me engaged throughout the story.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. I cannot wait to see what the next adventure is for Tess and Tony.
I really enjoy this series by Ms. Daley and the setting is beautiful small town in Montana. Tess has returned temporarily to the post office to help out while her replacement recovers from a broken leg. Tony and Tess are brought in immediately when her dad drops off a baby to her brother, Mike, for protection. A mystery baby, a murder and the disappearance of Tess's mother's boyfriend are all threads that weave intricately to make this a book that I couldn't put down.
I read this one last night, I love that these are quick, light reads. All of the books in the series have been good, but this was one of the better ones, tying up some storylines that have spanned the series while creating new ones.
Solita veloce e piacevole lettura. Pare che in futuro ci sarà un altro personaggio coinvolto nelle vicende di Tess, Tony, Mike e Bree. Sono curiosa di vedere quale ruolo giocherà, visto che è un amico del padre di Tess, il misterioso agente o spia.
Kathi Daley has penned the eleventh book in her Tess and Tilly Cozy Mystery series with a baby, a murder, and an encrypted flash drive. Tess Thomas resigned from he mail carrier responsibilities for residents of White Eagle, Montana, to work more full-time training rescue dogs, but she did agree to be a temporary substitute since the regular is on medical leave. Her first day back, joined by her partner golden retriever Tilly, has been a walk down memory lane with smiles, gossip, and butterscotch candy. After checking in with her sister-in-law for a pregnancy update, she responds to a curious text from her brother Mike. When she enters to police station, she finds her brother in an absolute tizzy holding a screaming baby. He looks totally out of his element, and he with dadhood just around the corner. Mike explains he had been reviewing police reports when his Dad walked into the station, handed him the child, and disappeared out the back door. His Dad’s story is quite a mystery from faked deaths, international intrigue, and decades living underground, so it was a shocking appearance. Yet more disconcerting than seeing one’s elusive father, is that he said the child was in danger and needed to be hidden and protected. But, it’s the dead body washed up on shore that adds another layer to the mystery and magnifies the worries for everyone’s safety.
Kathy Daley’s mystery is connected to Tess’s dad, his convert work and suspicious behavior, once again putting everyone on alert. The fascinating story of Grant Thomas has evolved throughout the series although many of the what-s and why-s are not always resolved and most of his work is off the page and not explored in depth. But, the murder mystery of a local man, whom everyone loved, has a some twists and turns and a shocking connection. Although there is the fascinating idea of keeping secrets, covert communications, and an air of danger, the story doesn’t have that absorbing action or direct peril. The story is a relaxing read with endearing characters, realistic discussions about everyone’s future, compelling “family always comes first” dynamic, and continuation of Tess’s dad’s intriguing story.
The Baby Plan is the eleventh book in Kathi Daley’s Tess and Tilly Cozy Mystery series. I love all of the wonderful characters as well as the charming setting. Once again, Ms. Daley has provided readers with a clean, fun read. The author’s smooth writing style flows at a steady pace, the characters are three-dimensional and affable, and the storyline is well-plotted and intriguing. I highly recommend this series to those who enjoy reading well-crafted cozy mysteries.
Tess Thomas works full-time for Brady Baker, the local veterinarian and shelter owner, at the animal shelter, where she oversees the basic training for the dogs and placement of the shelter’s residents in forever homes. She’s also involved with training search and rescue dogs and participates in search and rescue missions. Her mom co-owns a café, Sisters’ Diner, with her aunt. Tess has one brother, Mike, who is a member of the White Eagle Police Department and is married to one of her best friends and bookstore owner, Bree. Tess and her other best friend, Tony Marconi, a computer genius, are looking forward to celebrating their first wedding anniversary.
Even though Tess recently retired from her job delivering mail in the small community of White Eagle, Montana, she and her dog, Tilly, find themselves filling in for the woman who took her place while she recovers from a broken leg. Tess is quite surprised when Mike asks her to come to his office and discovers that their father has entrusted Mike with the care of an infant whose mother is testifying in a high-profile trial. When Tess and Mike’s father discovers that their mother is dating a man named Theo, he becomes quite upset, which, in turn, upsets Tess, Tony, Mike, and Bree, who fear she may be in danger.
This series is a favorite of mine, and I love this new book. Tess lives in a small rural town in Montana where she used to work for the Post Office delivering mail. She recently left that job to work at the local animal shelter, but when the woman who took over for her at the Post Office breaks her leg badly, Tess agrees to fill in until they find a replacement. Tess and Tony haven’t really discussed their future family in depth, as Tess really doesn’t think she is ready to be a mom, but when her father brings a baby girl to Tess’s cop brother Mike to hide and keep safe, she finds herself thinking more about the possibility of starting a family sooner rather than later. With the baby girl comes a mystery that Tess and the gang are determined to unravel, and when a dead body is found locally, their determination only increases. Suspense, mystery, romance and babies – this book has it all. I recommend it highly to cozy mystery lovers.
The characters were spell binding and interesting. So many questions were answered this time that pulled me in. The storyline was intriguing and keep me reading till the end. Can't wait for the next book in this series.
The Baby Plan is the 11th book in the marvelous Tess and Tilly Cozy Mystery series. This book is filled with the elements of a cozy mystery including suspense, romance, humor, love, friends and family, and a sense of community.
This story takes place in the small town of White Eagle, Montana. Tess Thomas, a former mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, finds herself temporarily back at her old job after Hannah, the current mail carrier, fell and broke her leg. After their dad secretly left a baby girl with Mike, Tess’s brother and a police officer, the Thomas family works to protect the baby and to find answers to several mysteries (and a murder) in which they became entangled. Delivering mail again allows Tess and Tilly, her dog and work companion, the opportunity to talk to others and learn valuable information .
As always, Mrs. Daley’s writing flows smoothly, and her setting and relatable characters make for an extremely enjoyable and quick read. I really look forward to reading the next book in this series.
As Bree and Mike get closer to the delivery date for their first child, Tess is called back into mail delivery service temporarily. She enjoys being back on the route and visiting with her customers and friends. It is the best way to learn the local gossip as well. This time she has to be careful not to become part of the gossip when her mysterious father delivers a baby for her and Mike to hide and protect. Is this part of a long term project their father has taken on? He always says he can't tell them more for their own protection. Tess knows she will enjoy being an Aunt, but now she gets a taste of what is involved as a parent. (Thank God for involved husbands.) Her father is also concerned about the new man Tess's mother is dating. After him, that woman has not had the best instinct about men, Something else is going on and she also needs protection.
An enjoyable visit with the family and friends we've come to love, always full of mystery and potential dangers.
Tess gets caught up in the world of caring for an infant when her elusive, mysterious Father drops off a beautiful baby girl for Mike, Bree, Tess, and Tony to protect and nurture. Luckily Tony is a natural, so he does most of the actual day to day work of caring for a baby. Tess is subbing at the USPS, Mike is trying to solve the suspicious death of a long time town resident, and Bree is counting the days as her last month of pregnancy inches along. All of the Tess & Tilly stories are well plotted and multilayered, and this book is just as fascinating as the rest. Add in the latest romantic heartbreak for Mike & Tess’s Mom, which may be unexpectedly linked to their Dad. When the dust clears, will this adventure plus attending Bree during childbirth, turn Tess towards starting a family, or make her sure she never wants children? Read the story to find out
Tess is filling in at the post office after the woman who took her place is injured. On her first route, she finds Mike with a baby whom their father had left with him for safekeeping. Tess enlists Tony's help and they develop a plan. In addition, Tess and Mike's father is very unhappy about their mother's new boyfriend and Mike has a murder to solve.
I've really enjoyed this series and this book is no exception. Kathi Daley is a master of the cozy mystery and this book is a prime example of why. The book's well-written with wonderful characters and I was pulled in from the beginning while the story kept me hooked until the end. I love the interaction between the characters and the way Tess faces her life. I'm definitely looking forward to more from this series. I highly recommend both book and series which is best when read in order.
Tess and Mike's Dad pays a flying visit, to drop off a baby which needs looking after for a while. This starts off a new mystery for Tess, Tony, Mike, and Bree. With Bree heavily pregnant, it falls to Tony and Tess to do the looking after, making them think about their future. When a town resident is found dead at the lake, another mystery needs solving, and when Tess's Dad finds out about their Mum's boyfriend, things get interesting.
A great cozy mystery series set in White Eagle, with regular characters, human, canine and feline, and a touch of romance too. If you like this series, check out some of this author's other series, they're just as good.
These books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.
The Baby Plan ( Tess and Tilly #11 ) By: Kathi Daley The Baby Plan is the 11th book in the series Tess and Tilly. This book is filled with mystery, suspense, love, family and friends. Love the story and the characters, both well written and well developed. There are several things going on that will have you turning the pages to see what is going to happen next. Tess and Tilly fills in at the Post Office for a while, a baby is left in Mike’s care, a dead body is found, and mystery and suspense all through the book. Is there answers to all of the mysteries? The author keeps you guessing till the end.
Tess finds herself back at work temporarily filling in after her replacement broke her leg. During her route she finds out that her brother has left town with a baby that her estranged father had left to hide and protect. Although she is not a baby fan, she finds herself going into hiding with the baby as she seeks the baby’s mom with help from Tony.
Also Tess’s mom has a new boy friend that her dad does not like. Things are heating up once again. Another cool read in the series.
Babies seem to be the major theme in this latest book in the Tess and Tilly series. Bree is pregnant and due soon as the story begins. Then Tess and Mike’s Dad drops off a baby with Mike that needs to be cared for temporarily. Their Dad plays a bigger role in this one. There is also a murder of a local man that may be hard to solve.
The story has lots of surprises and keeps you wondering what is going to happen next. The characters are evolving even more as the main couples think about how babies will impact their lives.
As usual Tess is up to her arms with trouble, her dad has dropped a baby off with Mike with only the instruction to take care of her until he hears from him again. Mike takes the baby to Tess and Tony, he couldn't take her to Bree because she about to have her and Mike's baby. Everything goes downhill from there, they have a murder to solve, a baby to get back to her mother, and her mother's love life is turned upside down. Believe me you will enjoy the book so much, you won't be able to put it down.
Love this series! Bree and Mike are having a baby, Tess and Tony are contemplating, Mike and Tess’s dad drops a baby off for them to hide temporarily, a body washes up on shore, and Tess returns to her postal carrier job as a fill-in. I highly recommend starting this series from the beginning. Although there are conclusions in each book for the main plot, the characters continue to develop and some things carry over, although not as a cliff-hanger.
I have really enjoyed the adventures of Tess, Tully and Tony. What a story line! Can it get more complicated? How patient everyone is with the father who I would probably have screamed unmentionable obscenities at long ago. And what about Tony? Are there more like him out there.
It a fun series to read. The characters are folks that you would enjoy knowing, the mysteries are challenging and the setting is beautiful. I hope there will be more.
I love this series and while I didn't really enjoy the last book, this book was right back on track and wonderful. Love that Tess and Tilly took over the post office route. I love their interactions with the shop owners. I love Mike and Tess putting their dad on the spot. I really love their dad's solution to Mom's protection and can't wait to see that story develop. Looking forward to the next book.
I couldn't put this one down! Once again , our heroine and Mike and Tony and Brew are involved in solving a murder tied to her father. Bree is pregnant, and along the way they all learn more about her father and mother. I can't wait for the next book to see how Sam, who moves next door to her mom, fits in. Enjoy your great read!
Tess and Tilly are delivering mail again, helping out while the regular carrier recovers from a broken leg. With Bree almost due it has Tess reconsidering her stance on having a baby. Their dad blows through town wrapping them up in secrets, and leaving them with more questions than answers.
Love reading stories in this series and catching up on everybody’s new adventures. Love looking for the clues and trying to solve the interesting mystery that always is included in each book. Very well woven story that makes me feel like I am right there. Looking forward to reading more Tess and Tilly stories.
I really love this series and this one was no different. I think this is one of my favorites as Tess goes out as a substitute mail carrier and all her customers are so happy to see her and there is more of she and Mike's father in this one. Mike and Bree are getting ready to have a baby and Mom is involved with a possible trouble maker. A GOOD READ.
More intrigue with Tess’s dad playing a major role in this story. It’s interesting to learn more about him. As Bree and Mike’s parenthood is imminent, Tess and Tony are closing in on their own baby plans, but we’ll have to wait to see what they decide.
This is a story of how one small baby can make a big change.
As always there is love and murder along with international spy network all in small White Eagle. Can Tess go fro taking care of her fur babies to caring for a real baby?
When Mike is given the care of a young infant, Tony and Tess take over while Mike searches for a murderer. Tess volleys back and forth between wanting a baby, and wanting to wait. And a new family member arrives.
I love this series and each book keeps getting better. I read this in a couple of hours because I couldn't put it down. Love the characters along with the light mystery and especially loved the ending.
