Queer. Mexicana. Jefa.: A collection of poems from 2020

Rate this book
This collection of poetry was written in 2020, which I spent reflecting on the various identities I hold. I am Mexicana, born and raised in Mexico, with a few years away to study and work in other places. Some of the poems in the collection deal with Mexico's complicated history, and others clearly hold a Mexican view of death. I am queer; many poems deal with coming to terms with my queerness and, more joyously, falling in love. I am Jefa, a female boss, an entrepreneur. There's a theme of adventure and resilience throughout the poems that tie back to this. This collection is a mirror of a year spent contemplating the various ways my identities intersect and how that affects my world views.
